Military Life
Some time had gone by now, since Shun moved into the training facility. While he definitely believed it to be a change for the better, he still had some adjusting to do when he first arrived awhile back. Sleeping arrangements were just one of these things. The bed itself was an improvement, even if it wasn't much. However, he had difficulty sleeping while feeling completely safe. Out of habit, he continued to sleep with his knife under his pillow while making sure he kept his back to the wall. While he had his doubts that his roommates would try to kill him in his sleep, he was unfamiliar with them. While he slept, he was practically defenseless, after all. For the first few nights, he would even awaken at the slightest noises. He managed to relax a little by this point, but a light sleeper he still remained to be.
The sleeping schedule was a bit of a shift as well. More often than not, while on the streets, he was up late at night. The general lack of sleep he got early on did not really help with that, either. This was a little easier for him to get used to than the other issue.
Having to listen to orders and the like... He had to remind himself often that it was needed. Sometimes, he felt the desire to go off and do his own little thing or go about it his own way. He managed to reign those in for the time being. It wasn't easy, though. Several times, he came very close to striking out at the instructors... namely the Bald men. The urge to quietly try and take them out at some point never really left. If anything, it's grown a little stronger since his first encounter with them at the bonfire during the peace festival a good while back. For now, though, he needed to put up with them.
Training was rough, but he didn't expect any less of it. During his down time, he was often trying to perfect what he had learned, if he wasn't already exhausted. On some days, he really didn't have a lot of energy left, after the classes and chores. For these days, he just tried to find a quiet place to meditate or simply relax, if possible. It wasn't always an easy thing to do around there. Maybe when the peace garden actually finished, that might make for a good retreat.
Maybe.
It might just turn into a place where Terry could bestow his strange and somewhat unwelcome gifts for that matter.
In the very least, he was able to have regular meals each day. That was one of the better things about this place. The food itself wasn't anything spectacular. Some of the stuff was rather questionable, really. Regardless of the taste, he ate what he was allotted anyway. He had spent too long on the streets to be picky about this sort of thing. He would not waste what's given.
Over all, he hadn't really been mingling with the other trainees so much. He was never really one to socialize, anyway. Granted, a part of him wondered if he should try and speak with those who planned on going into the Survey Corps as well. Those would be the ones he would be working with once they graduated. The people he would eventually have to rely on to some extent as they face off against the monstrosities that were the titans. There were a couple off the top of his head that he knew were planning on joining that faction. Shakuntala and Mykanos... both who incidentally were also fairly quiet. The others he knew of seemed to lean more towards Garrison, which was understandable. There weren't many who were willing to throw themselves out into the front lines, beyond the walls. He would not be surprised if people thought him to be crazy for wanting to go out there. It wasn't even because he had a particular grudge against the titans, or anything like that.
Over all, his life was slowly settling into a sort of routine. At least for now. It was one he knew would not last. Once he got out of training, things would change once more.
