Personality: Sai dislikes most everyone he meets. His anger stems from what the world has shown him about life. Those who deserve justice, find none, and those who are innocent receive no quarter from the evils of the world. Sai has never known anything but constant and unrelenting pain in his life, and having no one to explain the merits of his abilities, or his origins, nor having met another member of his clan, Sai believes that he is truly unique to this world and that no can understand the pain he does. His pain is not solely physical however. Mentally, Sai is scarred; His childhood and adolescence teaching him that the world will never trust or care for you if you are even remotely perceived as a threat.

Through the eyes of the pain he feels of this, Sai seeks to punish the world for what it has done to him, and show others what pain truly is in order to make them understand the reality of life as he does. Sai seeks power to do this and wishes overturn the current order for one where he will act as the ultimate judge and executioner in order to exact his revenge. Sai is not random in who he kills, but he will cut down and eliminate anyone who stands in his way, or anyone who has something he needs to accomplish his goals. As part of his greater justice, Sai revels in his ability to share his pain with others when he can, if only to show someone else, even for a brief period, the pain he has felt everyday of his life. The fact that he constantly lives with this pain, whereas others normally are incapacitated by the feeling gives Sai an arrogance and a level of superiority which makes him look down on most other people in the world, except for the select few who have earned his respect.

Backstory: Sai's mother died in childbirth, as a rare and unfortunate side effect of his clan's bloodline. At birth, Sai's chakra lashed out towards his mother's body, making her already fragile condition worse, and eventually killing her. Her dying breath was to name her child Saiai (Beloved), but his father shortened it to 'Sai' out of anger towards his son. His mother was the one who had the Konaga bloodline, and was the one who passed it on the Sai, but his father understood none of it and quickly abandoned Sai to an orphanage, unable to cope with the site of the son who had killed his wife.

As an orphaned child Sai was shifted around from orphanage to orphanage, his young body and mind plagued by the pain that his bloodline created for him, losing control at regular intervals and creating multiple disturbances that resulted in the destruction of entire rooms and even death to innocent people nearby. As such, Sai was unwanted by almost everyone he came into contact with and was shunned for the good majority of his young life.

After one particular incident, after killing too guards that tried to restrain him from killing another child in anger, a local hermit named Raika saw Sai lying in a puddle of water, his entire body covered in chakra burns and took pity on the boy. Taking him up as a student, the old man brought Sai to the forest where he was able to live and train his abilities without fear of killing anyone, or being rejected by society. Sai is self taught in everything he knows about his bloodline, gradually having come to terms with who he was and what he could do. One day, around the time when Sai was 18, Sai returned to the house in the forest to see the head of a group of assassins hired by fearful villagers on the edge of the forest, plunge his blade into Raika's heart.

In a fit of pure rage and hatred, Sai instantly flipped out, his entire body losing control, igniting in flames of chakra as he mercilessly killed every member of the assassination squad. Alone again, every person who ever cared for him being dead, and every other person he ever met having despised him, Sai left the forest to become a wanderer. Jaded and bitter, Sai has no goal in life but to make as many of those in this world feel the pain that he has felt and continues to feel on a daily basis in a world so corrupted, that it no longer realizes it's own evil. He will cut down and punish anyone he feels is in his way, or anyone he feels needs to be purged from this world in accordance with his own standards of judgment.

Sai had joined and progressed through the ranks of the Kirigakure very quickly due to his bloodline ability. It was said that he rose through the ranks faster then anyone, having stints in both the ANBU and Hunter-NIN divisions. He had always been under careful observation due to his outlook on life and disregard for people, but he was kept in the village for a long time despite his uncaring behavior to his teammates, or to anyone else for that matter due to his high level of skill and the fact that they needed him. When members of his team kept disappearing mysteriously however, he was exiled from the village under high suspicion, though no evidence could ever be found against him. (This however was not surprising due to his knowledge of the Hunter-nin procedures and jutsu.)

Shortly after his exile, Sai was recruited by Selene, the new leader of the Akatsuki as she had heard of his actions. Sai accepted immediately after hearing Selene's plan, deeming that she was both strong enough to help him overturn the fates of this world and smart enough to know the best way to do it. He looks to her as a subordinate would look to his kage and obeys without question, knowing that they share a similar, and parallel goal. Whereas she was hell bent on power, Sai was hellbent on showing people what true pain was in life...and by overthrowing the known order, both desires would be met.

After several more members joined the Akatsuki, Sai was more or less placed as second in command within the group, as the next most senior behind Selene. Once they started moving however, all but Sai were either, lost, killed or captured, forcing him to take over the organization. driven by his own never ending desire to punish the world for it's evil and restore a peaceful order to the world through absolute fear of repercussion, Sai has pushed himself to the next level and continued Akatsuki's agenda, forging a path ahead of himself as it's new leader.

Personality: Akio is an intelligent individual with a slightly devilish streak. Some have called him capricious and whimsical, however, it is the opinion of people closer to him that he is in fact, just slightly unhinged in the head. Although very flirtatious (sometimes outright horny), at heart he is looking for love, but his kindness is rare and only for those who have earned his respect, anyone who hasn't is pretty much guaranteed to be an 'idiot' in his eyes and he hates idiots, though he may be moved to help some people out of pity or annoyance (mostly annoyance). Despite all this, he somehow remains oddly charismatic and persuasive.

Akio always carries crystal balls on him for spying, and a deck of cards for "readings"; some people interpret this as fortune telling, but he is quick to dismiss these claims. He had an epiphany in which he realized there is no chaos; only misunderstood order. His "readings" simply interpret one's life journey through the medium of cards.

He chose to join Akatsuki because it was a choice he could make for himself, as a shinobi working for Konohagakure, his actions, his life, and likely his death, were being chosen for him, and he was not content with being controlled. He had outwardly proclaimed this view prior to his defecting from Konohagakure, thus they often kept a close eye (sometimes leash) on him which only furthered his desire to defect. However, this does not detract from his sense of duty; when he has committed himself to a cause, he will follow it to the end.
