To most, a tree is a tree. However, this tree was more than that, even to one who knew nothing of it's history. It was old...gnarled with age and cut with old scars from lightning strikes and the glancing blows of falling brethren as they succumbed to bad weather and old age. It was likely the tree's sheer size was what saved it from such trauma; four two-leggers could join hands and not quite ring the trunk completely. However, sometimes it could be sworn that a gentle silver sheen emanated from it's base, swirling tendrils snaking from the arched roots where wood touched earth.
At the very base of the tree, a crooked opening split the bark, large enough to allow a dainty wolf passage and indeed, one such wolf had called the tree home for many years now.
The wolf was older, but not ancient, but a time-worn soul with the scars to prove it. He knew, however, that this wasn't unique to him; many wolves these days bore wounds of physical and mental nature. The wolf had fought, like all wolves do. He had also lost his mother Lewain a long time ago, yet he liked to think that she truly never left. Most nights, as he lay beneath the arch of the tree's protective bulk, he felt her presence and heard her voice. He was not crazy; he was gifted.
Newanti was of a rare breed, to be sure. His Shaman strength lay in the manipulation of other's magic potentials but he was not a true, pure shaman. From his mother, he had also drawn the power of Seer and it was this that kept him in contact with his mother. He could call on her guidance and draw from her strength.
It was with Lewain's assistance that Newanti could see potential in other wolves and encourage them to a life of magic or to extinguish it completely in those with no hope of mastering the skill. Few knew of his ability, but he made no move to hide it. Whispers around the forest often ushered completely strangers to his door. It was Newanti's decision to speak with them or not.

::What is the Sacred Oak and who is Newanti?:: The Sacred Oak is nothing but an old tree that is home to Newanti, infused with his magic only because he has lived there for so long. It is more a landmark for those who seek Newanti for council. Newanti is a double-magicked wolf, more formally known as an Omnus. His dominant magic is his Shaman powers but he is also a strong Seer, which he inherited from a deceased NPC named Lewain (some of the older RPers know of her). This combination of powers makes him an incredibly powerful wolf, but also a wolf that carries a great responsibility. It is his job to assist in the teaching and creation of new seers and shamans from wolves that were not born already displaying the powers to be such. He can concentrate magic found in non-gifted wolves so that they can become gifted in time, but only in those that deserve such an honor and have a base amount of magic within them from the start. ::What if a Wolf Wishes to Be Trained?::
They must approach Newanti and ask for such. There is no guarantee he will be able to do anything with what he is presented with, but he will make the attempt. However, Newanti is a busy wolf and his time is limited. Patience is required if time is requested of him and he finds it easier to summon the energy to bind magic to wolf bodies if it is done in groups and a full moon, so it is not often that he will accept pilgrims at his doorstep. ::What is Required of a Wolf Seeking Training?:: A wolf must first win the raffle. The raffle requires an intro post and a form to be filled out appropriately. There must be 6 complete RPs in order to qualify for the raffle. Once a raffle win is obtained, the wolf must undergo a quest of sorts, which is RP to show it's evolution from an untrained, weak magicked wolf to a true Seer or Shaman. The quest is never the same for any wolf and it usually takes several different RPs to complete. It is up to the RPer to follow through with these tasks. Once they are complete, the RPer needs to contact the shop to set up an RP session with Newanti to determine if rank ascension is complete.

::Guidelines for Seeking Newanti's Assistance:: Posts in this thread are to be done in an RP format. Forms to apply for the raffle are to be at the end of an RP intro post (will be explained). Only one wolf per person may be put before Newanti for the Seer and Shaman rolls and they must choose EITHER Seer or Shaman as their path. No one may seek both. The wolf presented must not already be a Seer or Shaman. Omni are not available through average Seer and Shaman rolls. Requirements must be fulfilled BEFORE the Sacred Oak opens. RPs must be at least a page long to count. If RP is still ongoing at the time of the raffle, that is ok, but this can only happen with ONE of the RPs. The rest must be complete or have had a substantial amount of time pass between the last post and the raffle (a week or so). If your wolf wins the raffle, you may not enter another wolf for another two sessions of rolls (~four months). If your wolf does not win, you may re-enter them in the next raffle, starting over with an intro RP and a form. If you do not follow the rules and enter as instructed, you will not be included in that set of rolls. You have until the raffle officially closes to fix any mistakes. ::Entering the Raffle:: All wolves seeking to meet Newanti are to be posted in this thread with at LEAST an introductory RP post of them approaching the tree and looking to speak with the Omnus. The post does not have to be ultra long and it does not determine your likelihood of winning the raffle, but an attained magic rank through Newanti is meant to go to individuals that enjoy a lot of RP. Even if you win the raffle, you may not become a seer or shaman if you cannot fulfill the requirements after. Here are additional details for you to use for your introductory posts: Quote: -The Sacred Oak is located in the deep forests near the eastern side of the continent of Telk. -It is easily the largest tree still standing in that area and is quite sturdy despite the large cavern that splits it from roots to about five feet up on the trunk. -The tree emits a soft silver glow. This glow prevents it from being harmed in any way. -These meetings will only happen on a full moon every two months, rain or shine. -It's more than ok to RP with the other individuals that arrive at the tree. Newanti is going to see them all together and will be giving his verdicts with all present. This is meant to be an RP event of sorts. After you write your introductory post, you also need to include and fill out THIS form as completely as you possibly can and post it at the end of your RP post. The intro RP + form need to be posted together. Proxy for Junglerunner: junglerunner Moghedien had been suffering from severe headaches of late and they had begun to intensify. She was slowly beginning to find it hard to listen to other wolves when they were addressing her, hearing a whisper at the back of her head but the words were never audible to her. She woke one morning and reeled at the strength of the headache, blinking away the pain she rose to her feet. She was a slender female, small and petite and the pain made her slightly unsteady on her legs giving her the appearance of being physically very weak. This did not trouble her as she had Damon to protect her, but she needed her mind for her work.
Old tales she had heard when she was younger came to her, of a wolf who had the ability to train other's in the skills of a shaman or seer. These headaches concerned her and she needed to be rid of them. She had not be requested to gain tribute from any of the surrounding packs from her alpha and she had a day or two to herself, she thought she'd take a little time for herself, seeing as she'd given so much to her pack recently.
Leaving the pack's territory she headed east in search of the tree where the Omnus was rumoured to be found. She was slowly beginning to enjoy the freedom, it was a while since she had taken time out for herself but her icy exterior portrayed none of her emotions as she glided through the shadows. A swell of pain took her again and she stumbled, closing her eyes tight and frown forming on her brow. As the pain sub sided she rose her head and opened her eyes, through a break in the undergrowth ahead she noted a soft silver sort of glowing which drew her in.
Breaking through the clearing she set her eyes upon an enormous tree, it's size simply in a league of it's own. It's grey barked limbs stretching for the heavens. The ground was cleared around the tree and she was hesitant on leaving the security of the undergrowth.

It hadn't taken him as long as he thought it might to get here. He had travelled long distances before: from the southlands where he was born, to the western coasts and then on, recently, to the very edge of the northern, snowy border. The eastward journey was, in many respects, a lot easier than some journies he had made in his lifetime and, whilst he did not relish being alone again, at least this one time he knew he had a home to go back to. Friends. Family...
Quintus' soft, milk-blue eyes scanned the clearing, the brush and finally the large, softly glowing tree. It was massive - bigger than anything he'd experienced, and the soft aura surrounding it gave it even greater stature.
It was more than he'd expected, more than he'd hoped. No, he hadn't hoped. Belief was more the word for it... Faith. When Kalain had told him of this place - quietly and in confidence - he had been overawed at the very idea. The presence of Kalain had unnerved him at time - though the shaman's soft manner usually whisked away any sort of trepidation rather quickly - but this place? This was overwhelming.
He almost slunk back. Surely he had no business here? But, no, he had not come all of this way to throw off the confidence placed in him. Kalain had seen it in him, Sati had felt it... he had tried to find the strength of it within his thin frame.
He was on the verge of it - twice so close to death, twice plucked back to life in circumstances beyond coincidence. Plucked from all he knew, thrown down in this strange land, surviving despite his youth, inexperience and without a word of their tongue. Surviving, too, when he thought he was dead - awakening to two pairs of searching violet eyes - owned by those who had given him the knowledge of this place.
His feet padded softly over the leaf litter as he came a little closer - not noticing, yet, the other who was here at the edge of the undergrowth. There was something which stopped him though - a presence about the place.
He came to a halt, rolled back to sit on his haunches, and waited.Your Name: Alyosha Wolf's Name: Quintus Wolf's Image: [X]Choosing Seer or Shaman?: Seer If Shaman, what domain?: n/a Links to 6 completed RPs:[X][X][X][X][X][X] (ongoing)

He barely recognized that he was in a safe haven until he felt the silvery glow before he even saw it; and that was an amazing feat considering his half-blindness. Adam was a tad haggard from the journey, but with Kalama's assistance in hunting and Romulus's words on his mind, the pup felt himself renewed with vigor and determination to see this through. Would he get chosen? Maybe not. But he had to at least see for himself that the impossible could be made possible. Two others he could smell, neither particularly colorful for him to see but very distinct nonetheless. The small pup approached from the bush carefully, only poking his nose carefully from it to bely his presence. He was suspicious despite the calming presence of the silver light, but his heart raced. It was like walking into legend.

Many seasons had passed since she had first found and vowed to help a young teen female to form her own pack. Agua Azul was a strange place now, conflicted between those families to wanted to remain together in peace, and those who strove for domination over others. Alas often looked back, she couldn't help it despite knowing she couldn't change things, sometimes she wished anyway. Wishes however hadn't much helped and time had led her on a different path. Now she was alpha female of Akiiki Chibale, now she cared for more then just one.
She was a proud mother now, of both her own litter, and two adopted daughters. She was also a proud mate, everyday she remembered to show Crunch how much she still loved him. The pack had turned to her as well, as their alpha female, she was the soft matriarch in contrast to the rigid patriarch that Crunch was viewed as. Days were filled with joy, and sorrow, love, and loss...but it was loss that guided her towards the large brilliant tree far to the east. She gazed up at the soft silver glow in silent awe and hoped as only one who believes can hope. Cupid, her squirrel companion chippered softly in her ear, this was the place.
Alas did not come for herself, she came for her pack, she had practiced the art of healing for as long as she could remember. She had taught others the fine art of healing as well, and now she hoped to find a way to learn all new ways to heal. Magical ways, strange ways, rumors and murmurs that she believed in, because she had seen them. She remembered Adolfo fondly, the male had a strange way with the shadows that appeared in the darkness, but they had helped him to do good. She was here to do good as well, she needed to understand, to be at her best, so that she could best help her pack. There were dark times ahead...
She blinked around seeing the other wolves, and wondered curiously who would be chosen...and who turned away. If they were turned away, would they be allowed to return? She would make the long trek a hundred times if it meant bettering her pack, her family. Slowly she sat down, her head still high, for she knew she represented those she loved, and love was a power all it's own. Was the silver light like a silent caller, a bell rung to gather those there whose hearts willed it? Adam wasn't sure what went on with the others, but for the most part he felt as though he had little destiny in the pursuit of a power that would aid him - therefore, he would have to make his destiny so. If God would have it that fire tore his family apart, then perhaps if he stayed here a sign would be revealed to him that maybe, just maybe, there were other chances for redemption.
He took to observing the two that had been there before him, somewhat hidden in the bush due to his small size. One of them didn't stick out much in appearance, the silhouette who sat calmly before the great tree. The second wasn't as definable either save for the glowing circle near its neck, a pale blue glow that seemed to shine brighter in the silver light of the tree itself, and the equally bright rings about its forepaws. Adam could sense more than he could see that this one was in some sort of suffering, or otherwise recovering from it.
The third, however, was easy to spot due to the solid but soft pink coloring, dotted with white unfamiliar markings and outlined with a few shapes that seemed to be hearts. This one was a definite warm presence, seeming to radiate with love from within like a second, invisible heart of its own. The slender form fitted that of the one wearing the blue glow, perhaps larger; females, he deduced, leaving the sitting form to probably be male due to the more muscular structure of its form and the musky scent. With three adults around, Adam felt himself (shamefully) shrinking into the bushes, dark eyes flitting between each of them separately, the full moon above them, and the large tree for whom they had all gathered here. He wondered if anyone had a better clue as to why specifically.

Though Quin had not noticed the grey female hidden in the underbrush, or the small pup tucked away similarly, he couldn't help but notice the female who seemed to have come with a quiet conviction - her manner quiet, but confidant.
His pale blue eyes slowly rolled around to see her and he gave a wan smile, not sure what one says in this sort of situations. She could only have come looking for the same thing he had and it wasn't the sort of place, he felt, where you could talk about the weather.
Once aware of the pink female, though, his senses perked up and he noticed the other two. He gave a nod to the female, but his eyes lingered on the pup. Alone so young? He knew how that felt. Scared? No... but worried, and hew knew how that felt too. He'd been about the same age, hadn't he, when he washed up on a distant shore and encountered the first wolves of this land.
He beckoned to the pup - a simple twist of his head - to join them. He had no idea that the pup couldn't see him - in this bright, full moonlight all eyes looked glassy and reflective.
He wondered, too, if these wolves even spoke the same language - after all, he'd come a long way...

Alas slowly smiled, it brightened her blue eyes, the tender motherly feelings she had made her pay attention to the pup. She inclined her head in friendly greeting to both the male and female adults but paused as she inhaled. Her back stiffened slightly, the female was from the Reign of Terror, the scent unmistakable after one of their 'Lords' had come to demand tribute from her beloved family. She decided to focus her attention on the male and the pup instead, she didn't trust the members of the Reign one bit.
If the dark ones were seeking power then she felt even better about having come, she would need to be able to heal her family if things became...worse. Already the looming threat of a war with Agua Azul hung over them, the tension of the wicked pack at their northern border was worse. She forced her smile back in place and crouched down a bit to reassure the pup. "Come a long way have we?" Her voice was soft, sweet, the voice of a mother.

Did the pink one know someone? The air about her seemed to stiffen along with her fur for a brief moment; was she scared? But that was hard to fathom, all four of them basked within the light of the moon and the glow of the peaceable tree than coddled him so . . . Like being utterly relaxed without actually falling asleep. It was the queerest feeling he knew next to having his mind prodded by a seer, but certainly a good one. He knew nothing of packs beyond Kalama's lost members, but by the looks of any of them it didn't seem as though any such member was among hte small gathering tonight. Ah well.
She addressed him next, and the sitting figure's head shifted into what Adam believed to be a beckoning gesture. The combination of the silent approval and the gentle tone allowed him to be coerced out, paws slowly inching him from the brush until nothing remained hidden. He merely nodded his head several times to her question, beingthat he was unable to do much else beyond that, and sat down - a quiet, small form who suddenly felt as though he mught be intruding on something he probably wasn't ready for. Could any power be seen so young if he didn't have visions like Romulus did when he was young? Oh, God, help him . . . Why doubt when he was already here?

The Sacred Oak, growing silver in the cool air, seemed to brighten before the eyes of those assembled. The extreme brightness lingered for a moment before the glow began to ebb in a pulsing show of light and dark.

The pulsing of the tree slowed steadily over the course of several minutes until finally, it glowed it's regular faint silver. From the large fissure in the tree, movement could be detected as the pulsing faded. It was slow moment, as though it took great energy for whatever it was inside to stir. There was such an air of grandeur that surely those assembled would be in awe. Then, after a moment, a noise issued forth from the wooden shelter.
...it was a yawn.
In a very unceremonious way, the Omnus appeared through the crack of the tree, his fur a bit mussed from what could only be from a long sleep, and gave the strange wolves at his doorstep a befuddled stare. He let his jaw slacken for a breath, then licked his lips and looked up at the sky. Through a break in the tree canopy, the full moon showed perfectly, framed just right by the branches surrounding it. His muzzle twitched with bemusement and he looked back down at those waiting anxiously.
"No rest for the weary, I suppose," he commented drolly, his single eye falling on each wolf one by one. The young pup pulled the longest stare from the grey adult, but it was not unkind. More like surprised or confused. Regardless, the Omnus slipped free from the tree's cover and gave himself a good shake as he moved towards a circle of dust about five wolf lengths from his home. The circle was large, easily big enough to seat a dozen wolves. There, he sat, in the middle, and beckoned them to move forward.

Alas realized it was not the time to chit-chat, but she did offer the pup another reassuring smile and met the gaze of the grown male once more kindly before stepping forth. She was curious. but she held her tongue, something she had learned early in life, it was better to watch and listen to learn. Of course questions had their time and place, and hopefully she would have the chance for that later.
She did not judge the wolf before her by his coat, or the missing eye, or even his droll voice. There was something about him, a presence that made her feel warm inside, this was where help could come from. She suddenly felt better about her long journey, better about the fate of her family. With a deep breathe she glanced at her companion and Cupid gave a soft chirp before nuzzling Alas and scampering away and up into one of the normal trees to wait.

Quin's sympathy went out to the little scrap of fur as he inched out of the undergrowth - even younger than he had at first reckoned. Surely he shouldn't be here on his own? He wondered what had happened to bring him to this place, alone, frightened. He didn't move, though - not wanting to overcrowd the mix-toned pup and scare him off again.
The sudden change in the tone of light brought his head snapping 'round, though, eyes reflecting the flash momentarily until it calmed - leaving him with spots whirling in his vision. Shouldn't have looked right at it, that was stupid he told himself, now unable to see anything beyond the boundaries of the light - night vision temporarily ruined.
Still, though, his eyes were transfixed by the pulsing tree - it was unnatural. Supernatural. Eerie... but calm.
A figure seemed to float through the light.
A... yawn?
Blinking, Quin eyed the slightly dishevelled wolf who had come before them, a little unsure. This was who they had come to see? His feet seemed to hear the words this stranger spoke first, though, and started moving before his brain caught up.
With a flick of his head over his shoulder to see the other two, no three - the grey female now visible to him - he walked to where this strange wolf had beckoned and stood uneasily.
