The word on the street can be a powerful tool, and if there's one troll with the drive to take hold of it and use it, it's Aprife Invasi. Growing up on gossip and strife, the yellowblood came to one very important conclusion: informed is the only way to go if you don't want to end up dead in a ditch with a knife in your back. While he still takes great pleasure in frivolous hearsay and gossipmongering, he's begun to take an even greater interest in buzz with a little more substance. Aprife won't be blindsided so easily anymore if he can help it, and hey, the more you know, the more you have to bargain with should something actually go wrong.
Though his old teen sweeps notebooks full of countless encounters and gossip may be tucked away, he could never quite bring himself to pitch them entirely. To him, they represent a meaningful period of growth and learning, as well as a foolhardy innocence he's sure he could never return to. The present and future may be the most critical of times, but remembering where you've come from and everything those sweeps taught you certainly isn't something to sneeze at. Learn from the past, stop repeating the same mistakes, and push through the low points to truly thrive. These are things Aprife believes in.
When he's not jotting down information in his new notebooks—ones that are notably more well kept and organized than the generation prior—Aprife still enjoys dabbling in creative writing. The settings may have evolved from fantastical to muted and introspective in most cases, but that doesn't stop him from exploring many different genres and situations. Writing is an outlet for stress and it helps keep his mind sharp, along with the occasional sudoku puzzle or other game meant to stretch his critical thinking muscles.
It's those very same critical skills that ultimately guide him in his endeavor towards social and political knowledge. His mind is constantly churning with new ideas for how to go about gathering intelligence, considering new interrogation methods, and seeking to understand just how the thought processes of other trolls work. To this end, Aprife has no qualms about getting his hands dirty. The thought of inflicting mental or physical injury on another affects him about as much deciding what to eat for breakfast. It's a dog-eat-dog world and there's simply no time for softness or hesitation.
Which isn't to say the yellowblood hasn't found himself afflicted with emotional weaknesses of his own, ones he tries his hardest to keep out of the public eye. An encounter with Four Fronds hunters left him near dead and permanently scarred, reducing his once loud and grating voice to a gravely whisper. The after effects were a bit of a blow to the ol' self-esteem and he still struggles with being unable to express himself or garner attention with his voice the same way he used to.
Sweeps of getting the short end of the stick, all culminating in his near-death experience, have also left Aprife with a slight temper. While most negative situations roll off his back with practiced ease, one too many jabs at something he legitimately cares for or a particularly unpleasant surprise can awaken the anger issues bubbling beneath the jovial surface. Losing control over himself absolutely kills him, though, and he'll fight hard to keep those feelings from taking over.
When he does have himself together—a majority of the time, quite honestly—that jovial persona sits at the forefront of his interactions with others. Whether lowblood or high, he encounters everyone in a similar manner until he's had time to assess the situation and adapt accordingly. In the same vein, he hardly considers the hemospectrum a classification of note. What truly matters to Aprife isn't the color someone bleeds, but their usefulness to him or his cause and the information they may have holed up in their heads.

FLEXIBLE ❛ Bending with the flow of any given situation is a talent of Aprife's. It's difficult to catch him off guard and even a troll who manages to surprise him tends to come face-to-face with his jovial pokerface regardless. Changes in circumstance or environment rarely faze him; in fact, he's more likely to explore the new avenues presented to him than worry over it. Likewise, even when things don't go his way, he's more apt to let it roll off his back than let it stop him from pushing forward. Adaptability has proven itself a very trustworthy ally to the yellowblood.
INVENTIVE ❛ Alternia is a dangerous environment, ever-changing and wrought with pitfalls. It's a challenge Aprife is more than willing to take head on. His nimble thought processes have wiggled him out of a jam more times than he can count. Coming up with new ideas on the fly lends itself well to making up the quick excuse or gently convincing someone to cough up information he's got his eye on. Not to mention the combat benefits. More than once he's worked with limited resources or repurposed his weapon in a way it was never meant to be used in order to come out on top.
OBSERVANT ❛ Body language and expression can reveal a lot about a troll if they're not careful enough to keep it reigned in. Ever watchful, Aprife often picks up on these minute reactions and is perceptive enough to know what to do with them, like steering the conversation away from a sore subject and onto something he believes an acquaintance might be more willing to open up about. Subtle clues and changes in the environment rarely go unnoticed, either, and he's often quick to mentally file things that could prove useful to present or future situations.
INVASIVE ❛ Being on top of what's going on, glimpsing every angle, and understanding the situation is important to Aprife. To that end, he'll do whatever it takes to know each and every ounce of your business, whether it has anything to do with him or not. From school yard gossip to facts that could turn the tide of war, Aprife will literally and figuratively push and shove to discover those deep dark secrets (which may or may not remain secret for long in his hands). Backing down and regrouping is a last resort. In fact, he'll rarely leave his target alone until he gets something. Sometimes it's simply better to humor him, but even then that's no guarantee he won't be back to pester for more.
DECEPTIVE ❛ Seeing Aprife without a smile is a rarity, but seeing him with a genuine one is even more so. Projecting himself as an approachable, fun-loving guy, he's found, makes it that much easier to get what he wants without alerting his prey to any imminent danger. That isn't to say he's not honestly out for a good time, but seldom does he do things without an ulterior motive. Underhanded tactics are commonplace in his playbook: lying, cheating, stealing, he'll do it all and more if it means another step towards a goal.
SELF-SERVING ❛ Unless you're on the short list of close friends and worthwhile causes, Aprife probably doesn't care much about you personally, what you think, how you feel, or about your well being. The troll who truly matters, the one most important in his life, is the one he sees in the mirror every night. Almost everything he does, he does with himself in mind. Furthering a goal for someone else should, in some way or another, benefit his own position, too. Forming tight bonds and committing himself to another is difficult, thanks in part to the sheer amount of selflessness a truly meaningful relationship requires.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION ❛ Fuzzy and house cat sized
The fragile, fluffy looking exterior of this particular bumblebee-honeysuckle hybrid acts as a surprisingly accurate representation of who he is on the inside, too. Bumbs is a lover, not a fighter, and he'd much sooner curl up in Aprife's lap for a snooze or ride around on his shoulder than cause a scene. He's a dedicated guardian, but his flighty, head-in-the-clouds nature often works against him in that it's just so hard to pay attention as much as he might need to, but he tries, and has been getting better about it.
Of course, Aprife is more than capable of taking care of himself at his age, but Bumbs can't help worrying much more than he used to thanks to each and every misstep and painful experience that's befallen his child so far. Even if his presence doesn't do much in terms of changing outcomes or tends to make important meetings and the like a little less serious, he often pesters Aprife to bring him along regardless. For the most part, Aprife doesn't mind it, and never cared whether others judged him for continuing to hang out with his lusus, anyway. Besides, their relationship is a strong one (even more so since Bumbs stopped scolding so much) and though Aprife may not be the most straightforward troll emotionally, he's always genuine when they're alone.
In yet another attempt to be of more help, Bumbs also started dabbling in organization, namely keeping their always-messy hive and possessions a little more straightened up. It's still an edge disheveled, but it's an organized chaos now, and finding things is definitely easier than it used to be.
Gardening, of course, has been an ever-present hobby. What once was a small collection of flowers has flourished into plants of many varieties and even a few original hybrids. Bumbs takes great pride in his work and, as a side effect of his new interest in organization, started keeping closer tabs on the who, what, when, and how of each of his chlorophylly children. It's a goal of his to produce as many colorful and interesting plants as possible.
Recently, Bumbs has also started to help deliver internal mail around Salamire.
