One of the largest rooms buried deep in the heart of the base, the mess hall is a gathering spot for anyone and everyone; all ranks, all ages, made obvious by the fact that it's never quite completely empty regardless of the time. Whether on break or even on official business, it's a good place to find common ground between busy schedules and trips off-base, and to grab a bite to eat while you're at it. Can't aid a proper rebellion on an empty stomach, after all!

The many wooden crates serving as seating might not seem all that inviting, but the warm glow of candles and soft, delectable smells certainly are, and even the murmur of constant conversation if you're the right kind of troll. If you're lucky, and early, you might find you're able to snag one of the few actual chairs from among the crowd, though it's not really necessary. Leaving with a splinter only adds to the atmosphere.

HOW TO PLAY

Teams can roll (1d6) to search for clues and expend a stamina point, either in the same location or in two different locations, using the form below. All trolls must search the same room as their teammates during each individual session. Please double check that you're in correct room before rolling.

TEAM NAME
Team Members:
Your Roll: (edit in)
Current Stamina: starting with 2/2

Once you've rolled, you can check the chart (see spoiler) for your discovery. If you've landed a clue roll, your clue will be PMed to you at the end of the day. Please do not share clues in a public setting, but be sure to hang onto all of them and share them privately with your group!

You are free to respond to the mini-prompts you receive in this thread as well as roleplay. Landing on an NPC roll will trigger a short walk-by, which could give you even more hints, and will be posted in the room thread it was activated in. It can also be reacted to via RP, and other teams who rolled that day in the same location can witness it. Keep your eyes peeled and remember, the more you RP, the more you can search!

Reaching 200 words of RP per teammate in the ORP or any LOCATION thread will grant each team member an extra stamina (1 extra per location/orp for a maximum of 7 total throughout the entire game). Please quote the mule when each team member has met the requirement in any given thread. You may continue to RP in any room thread even after your rolls are complete. Additionally, at any given time during the week of gameplay, your Team Leader may quote the mule and grant your entire team 1 extra stamina, but only once.

Each day a mule post will be done in each location thread declaring the start of the next day. Your teams stamina fully recharges, and the prompt encounters in a thread may change.

The last day to roll is the 18th!

MESS HALL DISCOVERIES

If you rolled a 1...
Is someone coming this way? (Please quote the mule to activate the in-thread NPC encounter.)

If you rolled a 2...
Looks like you found something... (Please quote the mule to receive your clue PM at the end of the day.)

If you rolled a 3...
You find yourself perplexed by the seemingly random purple board nailed in the doorway. Why is it there? What purpose does it serve? You go back to checking around elsewhere before it unnerves you any further.

If you rolled a 4...
You were working hard- honest- until the chef plopped a fresh, steaming pile of deep fried battered milkbeast sticks onto the serving counter. Your mouth drools as your legs drag your unwilling body towards the wafting, heavenly scent... A short snack break couldn't hurt!

If you rolled a 5...
Looks like you found something... (Please quote the mule to receive your clue PM at the end of the day.)

If you rolled a 6...
You hear the word 'betrayal' from a nearby table, and you perk up. Shuffling up behind the speaker nonchalantly, you eavesdrop on their conversation. It takes you much too long to realize they were discussing the latest Fiduspawn card releases. Oops...

The next night has begun. All teams stamina is restored back to 2 points, (with the exception of bonus stamina, which rolls over to the next day if it haven't been used!)

TROUBLE
Team Members: Kursha Vidari, Byakko Mawiya, Rasali Panaka
Your Roll: 4
Current Stamina: 3 - 1 = 2

After a good day's rest, Kursha reconvened with his teammates in the mess hall. It was a good place to relax and discuss their plans for the evening. It also made for a good starting point in their search for clues. With how many trolls passed through, someone was bound to have seen or heard something. And as far as secrets went... the best secrets were hidden out in the open, where they would be overlooked.

“After we wrap up here, we can revisit the conference block.” Kursha said, as he picked over his food. The fare was disappointing to say the least. Seriously, who ate peas for the first meal of the night? Oh well. He had lived off worse. “We should give it a thorough examination, checking for hidden compartments, panels, bugs... Well, hopefully we won't find any bugs, or we're already screwed. At some I'd like to swing by Chittentown—see if there have been any unusual comings or goings—but there's no telling if we'll have enough time to make it there and... back.”

In the middle of his speech, Kursha had noticed a bold squeakbeast creeping along the edge of the table towards him. He fell silent, watching it out of his peripheral vision. The squeakbeast slunk forward cautiously, whiskers twitching. When it finally reached his plate, it dipped its hands into his mash to grab a pea. Kursha moved. In a flash he had snatched up the squeakbeast, and held it with a his thumb under its chin.

“So thought any more on how to resolve your... 'rat' problem?” His grip tightened.

ACCIDENTAL FAMILY UNIT
Team Members: Lunear Reglos, Miliue Aojiro, Stryke Nvrmor
Your Roll: 'You try to ask the chef a few questions while they prepare your meal, but whatever you said seems to have gone completely unheeded as they shove your tray out onto the counter and bellow, "NEXT", effectively shutting you down.'
Current Stamina: 1/2 +1 (200 word count)=2/2

Why did he go to the mess hall of all places? It was embarassing. Not only did ne look terribly... ill, he was not the most hidden, mask or no, hair dyed or not, Lune was glowing. No matter what he did it was damn near impossible to hide the way his skin was pretty much putting on a dazzling light show and well, it wasn't exactly the hardest thing to miss when you were looking like a light bulb.

The desert didn't have many light bulb illuminate trolls walking around did they. Doing his best to hide his skin with his cloak and a new hood, Lunear walked past the food, his own hunger being akin to 'oh hey who has an open vien lets maybe just check if they have a maedical bay and ransack that for some sweet colored nectar of the grubs. Or something. He tried not to think about the whole 'lets go eat thing.' He really was kind of not wanting to munch and suck on his allies. Or at least the unwilling. It got awkward when you were trying just to grab a bite but nope, they decided that they would have none of it.

He tried to ask the one who was making food but- He bet it was the glow. No one liked his glow.

ACCIDENTAL FAMILY UNIT
Team Members: Stryke Nvrmor, Lunear Reglos, Miliue Aojiro
Your Roll: You managed to snag a real chair and hoo boy is it nice to have something to rest your poor back against! Hey, these things are pretty rare, maybe if you check underneath you'll find a clue taped to the seat or something, like in the movies! OH, you found one, you found- No wait, that's just a wad of gum... It's still wet.
Current Stamina: 2-1=1

Stryke left the main hall with the intention of trying to gather as much intel as he could manage. He'd been rather good at information gathering in the past, and he hoped to make himself useful when all was said and done as he'd promised himself privately. Of course he'd go to the mess hall first; it was with mixed intentions granted. Having walked through the desert to get here, and the hope of finding clues like some sort of awesome spy like his favorite roms had him poking around a few of the chairs. One in particular that seemed rather new compared to the older ones he'd sat in the meeting room stood out. Reaching for it he turned it over, momentarily hopeful until he realized he was staring at a fresh wad of gum.

That was hardly the glorious clue he'd hoped for. "oh holy s**t that's grosss! ssseriously?!"

Grumbling in annoyance, he turned chair back over he went to jump in line. Grabbing something for he and his lusus to munch on, he wandered to find a place to sit. As the child went to set his plate down, he recognized two different trolls as he'd walked by. One of them was Kursha, holding a poor squeakbeast. Recalling he'd ignored him earlier, he sighed purposely sitting as far away from him as he could. All the while staring at his plate to avoid looking at what fate might befall the creature.

The other troll was a blueblood he recalled from the summer, even if only in passing. Stryke had seen him get shut down in-line, and frowned as he squinted at him. This troll..was taller than he remembered, and seemed to be glowing. He didn't understand what the nightlight effect was about, but wasn't the type to judge regardless; even if he was a glow worm from what he could tell.

Pursing his lips he waved to the blueblood with some amount of hesitation. "hey...um. did you want some of my sandwich or sssomething since you didn't get anything?" Stryke eye'd his food with a great deal of reluctance, before offering him the other half even if he was intent on wolfing down the whole thing. He recalled he had team mates to meet up with, although it didn't occur to the yellowblood this might be one of them.

TROUBLE
Team Members: Kursha, Rasali, Akko
Your Roll: 1
Current Stamina: 1 - 1 = 0 (+1 bonus)

Akko pushed at the peas and grey mush on her plate unenthusiastically as Kursha ran over his plans for the team that night. She hadn't much of an appetite. She wasn't sure if it was guilt, anxiety, or something else entirely, but she hadn't felt the pang of hunger in quite some time. Nonetheless, she wasn't about to deny her body fuel, even if choking down whatever crude substance the Initiative was serving that night proved to be more and more of a challenge with each passing meal. It really didn't help that Byakko wasn't very fond of peas. Why were they serving them so damned much lately? She wasn't normally a picker eater by any means, but there was just something about the texture of unmashed peas that made her skin crawl... Bluh.

Swallowing down a spoonful of the mush, hard, Akko scrunched her nose with slight distaste before turning her attention back on Kursha. She nodded in simple approval of his outline for the night. The rebel was mildly impressed he was taking charge with such diligence; at the council Byakko had found the greenblood difficult to read, and couldn't quite place where his true values laid. She supposed she still didn't know much at all about Kursha, but he did seem genuinely motivated to catch the Initiative's traitors... and that was all she could really ask of anyone right now.

That was, until a teeny peep from the squeakbeast snapped her attention back from the unappealing food she had been having a staring contest with. Her eyes darted to Kursha's. "I believe I already gave you my answer," her decision was unwavering. The exact fates of those accused would be left for the group to decide. Placing her spoon lightly on the weathered table, her eyes narrowed on the greenblood with disapproval. "Let the beast go."

“Hm...” A s**t-eating grin slowly spread over Kursha's face. He lifted his brows, regarding Byakko with amusement. “That's your final verdict then? Not bad. I got a lot of respect for someone who sticks to their guns. Though...” His fingers curled tighter around the hapless creature and the squeaking turned shrill. The rodent struggled in Kursha's fist, but his grip was firm and the thumb under its chin locked its teeth. “Some might view your decision as a vulnerability,” he continued.“Can the initiative really afford even the possibility of granting mercy to those that would destroy it...?” His eyes never left the rebel leader's face and his smile never wavered.

After a sufficient pause, Kursha released the squeakbeast. It sped away so quickly that its movement was but a blur. “Well, don't come complaining when you find crap in your food,” he said, pushing his plate away. His appetite was gone. Standing, he brought his arms over and behind his head in a luxurious stretch. He was rewarded with a dull pop from his shoulder blades and another from his back. Suddenly he froze. Out of the corner of his eye he caught a flicker of movement.

Without so much as bothering to explain, Kursha darted off. Hopping over the scattered crates and tables, he cleared the room quickly and... then came to a stop. There was nothing but shadows dancing in candle light. Yet... he had been so certain...

“Tch.”

TROUBLE
Team Members: Kursha, Rasali, Akko
Your Roll: 1
Current Stamina: 1 - 1 = 0 (+1 bonus)

Byakko mirrored Kursha's splitting grin with her own steadfast frown of distaste; she was not even in the slightest amused by his over excessive use of force on the defenceless creature. "Yes, that's my final verdict." She echoed, lips firmly pressing together as the beast continued to shriek and squirm in Kursha's fist. Her eyes remained locked onto his, challenging him, as he challenged her.

"Some may," Her fingertips twitching in preparation to smack the squeekbeast out of the boy's hand. "But some also recognize my intent for what it truly is. Individually, none of us are as clever, effective, or astute as we are united." Her eyes narrowed sceptically, uncertain if her words held any real weight with him. Kursha did bring up a fair point- could the Initiative really spare mercy for the accused? Byakko wasn't certain herself, in all honesty, but that was an issue to be addressed at a later date. There were more pressing matters at hand.

As Kursha released the creature and darted off without so much as a word, Byakko felt the tension in her muscles ease. With a light sigh she picked up her spoon, glancing over at Rasali apologetically before returning to fight with the grey mush smeared across her plate.

TEAM GIRL SQUAD
Team Members: Vremea Everai, Odette Cygnet, Athene Bramma
Your Roll: 4
Current Stamina: 1 (ORP bonus) -1 = 0/2

From afar, Odette spotted Byakko and her team. She watched them for a moment, studying the other trolls she was with. Both were greenbloods, and Odette recognized them from the meeting. The abrasive one and the cute one, if she remembered correctly. It didn't matter too much, though. She wasn't going to interrupt their investigation, not by a long shot. Byakko must be a busy troll under a lot of stress, of course. And despite Odette's desire to get closer to the girl, she wasn't going to intrude.

Left to her own devices, Odette wandered around for a while before she tripped over her own feet, scuffing her knees on a scuffed table. She fell forward onto one of the tables, right onto some poor troll's food. She muttered some apologies, but only continued to trip over herself, making matters more messy.

Current Stamina: 3-1=2

After a few hours spent dredging up clues in Chittentown, Zeffer had seen fit to round up the other ******** and return to the base. The night had advanced considerably, and they'd managed to dig up even more pertinent information. What better way to reward themselves than with a bit of grub? It'd been hours since they had eaten breakfast anyway, and Zeffer was starved.

"I'll grab a table!" Zeffer scoped out the possibilities while Aprife and Muerte went off to check out the food. He managed to score one toward the side of the room, as well as a real chair, and two crates. After getting comfortable, he glanced around, and wondered if there were any trolls around they might be able to talk with...

It definitely wouldn't have been an awful to stay in Chittentown a little longer. The air was gritty and not so fresh, but the streets were alive with people to bother and that short run of gossip had momentarily revitalized him more than he expected. Upon returning to the base, however, and wandering back through the dimly lit tunnels, so many memories of the night prior had come flooding back.

It had been a disappointing turn of events, one he was tired of mulling over, but one that wouldn't leave him alone. Letting his anger get the better of him felt awful, and for a while he worried Muerte would leave, disappear while they were out and about, something. He hadn't, though, he was still hanging around, though quiet and barely there. Huh. He would try a bit harder not to worry about it any longer. Even if, for once, that was much easier said than done.

"Sounds good," he agreed, a grin overtaking him for a moment. Zeffer was nothing if not good at pulling happiness out of his rare low points. He held onto that for a while, even as they left the blueblood's side to deal with food and-

Oh, what was that. Something caught his attention, it seemed somewhat important. "I think this might help us out," he muttered, sounding somewhat less enthusiastic than usual. His mind was wandering again. Trying to look inconspicuous, he glanced over at Muerte.

It was true. For as much as Muerte disliked the desert and Chittentown and all its inhabitants at last it was... busy. There were things to do, plenty of distractions, enough substance to let his mind wander, or at least give him enough cover to brood and go undisturbed.

Regardless, the greenblood seemed to get away with it anyway. He was mostly content with letting Aprife and Zeffer chatter and meander. Part of him wondered, though, why he was even there. He wasn't distracting or hindering, not at this point, but he wasn't really helping either. For once he felt like a sort of vagabond, existing briefly in the moment without any real purpose. He should be back in his hive, putting his skills back to work, furthering his advancements and skills... but he wasn't. He was here. Should he try to make the most of it? What would the point be, really? It wasn't as if he had any real dedication to the Initiative's cause; he didn't belong here.

Equality meant very little to him in the long run. So long as he was able to do what he wanted—what he needed—he didn't really care if things stayed the same or not within the empire. He never thought about anyone other than himself because what was the point? Other trolls only were useful to him if they they helped his goals, furthered his gain; and if they didn't? Surely they had their own lives, their own motives, their own goals to try and constantly get head of one another in. Everyone was the same. They were all of the same fruit, borne from the same tree; selfish. A natural flaw that dictated everybody at one point or another.

So why did he feel this obligation?

It would take so much more pensive wondering before he found an answer, and so much more time to explore his thoughts before he drew any conclusions. If anything, he was present now, and leaving when he had already been here for a few nights seemed like an immense waste of time. He would see fruition for his effort.

Missing the glance from the yellowblood, Muerte had at least heard his teammates as they stumbled upon something perhaps worthwhile. He couldn't say he enjoyed the atmosphere very much of the mess hall—too noisy, far too noisy—but he allowed his eyes to wander the surroundings, to try and pick something out. He was smart, so surely...

...ah. Very quickly, in a mannerism that was very uncharacteristic for the scientist, he tepidly piped up for his group's attention, "I think, ah," his voice wavered slightly as he searched for the right words, hand intermittently making vague gestures, "...that I have located something particularly useful."

A surprise. It was actually an altogether pleasant revelation when, thinking he'd get nothing out of secretly scoping out the greenblood, he actually did get something. At least, much more than he had been expecting.

Maybe Aprife hadn't been quite as observant about the whole thing as he thought, hell, it would be a lie to say he hadn't actually been avoiding dealing with it further, as he'd said his piece and that was meant to be that. In the end, he should've been completely satisfied just to see his plans continuing on their path uninterrupted, but somehow it wasn't enough. Somehow, when he glanced over at Muerte and noticed him alert and looking around, he felt like things might have a chance to move on from the silent shadowing persona that had overtaken their teammate since earlier.

A second surprise, Muerte actually spoke up, alerting the group to something he found. The yellowblood didn't miss the way his voice wavered, but rather than reading into it too deeply, he let himself be bolstered by the fact that he'd chosen to mention it at all when he could've easily ignored it. He sure didn't know if this would do a damn thing to keep morale up, especially coming from him after what had happened between them last night, but he decided to speak up anyway.

"Nice job, Muerte." And that was that, simple enough. Aprife glanced from green to blue, smiling as he caught his matesprit's eye. He could only hope it right now, but maybe things were looking up.
