A quiet hum underlines the silence of this building, as metal corridors stretch out as far as you can see. The faint beep of some unknown machine matches the thump of your own pump biscuit.

So, there they all were, on another ******** 'adventure' into the godsforsaken desert. "Why don't we just ********' move to Chittentown to save ourselves some time from now on." He'd muttered, with a s**t-eating grin plastered on his face after receiving the note. He'd quickly got into contact with Aprife, who had found the same scrap of paper in his hive, and they'd been off.

Zeffer wouldn't have been half as tempted to fly all the way out to the desert if the weather instrument hadn't been a factor. The rebel's previous attempts to gain control over the contraption had ended in failure, but the blueblood still held some deranged aspirations about unleashing bad weather whenever it suited him. He was careful not to share such sentiments with his teammates, namely Byakko, who he could only imagine would frown on his plans (or worse). Regardless, he was happy to have legs along as well.

"Hey guys, remember when we were all babies together? That was some crazy s**t." Zeffer yukked it up as they made their way through the winding passages beneath the desert. Now that part was a welcome improvement, except for the fact that it rendered his goggles useless. He wore them anyway, as they complimented the stripes of black camouflage he'd thought to smear diagonally across his face. He swore it would keep any surveillance from being able to recognize him, but mostly it just made him look like an idiot.

"I thought it was kinda fun," Aprife admitted, keeping his voice down for once, even lower than acceptable, a near whisper. There was something eerie about the way it echoed down the dusty halls when he wasn't careful, but even so there was a joviality to his tone. It had been fun, reliving his childhood, or maybe when he thought about it, it hadn't felt all that different really. He'd been short, sure, and happy to reclaim his height by the end (including that unexpected growth spurt), but at the time he hadn't done anything too outside the realm of what he usually did.

Things were a little bit different now, though, that much was certainly true. The yellowblood had begun to consider just a bit more than he used to, and being here in this musty old place made him wonder what he was missing. Despite all the information he was apt to collect, he'd started to understand that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't always privy to what was important. That was beginning to worry him, to nag at a part of him he hadn't completely discovered. This whole setup was a bit unnerving, but he waved a lot of that away for now. He believed in the resistance.

If nothing else, he was simply more aware. Only time would tell yet if it were enough. Still, he smiled, sharkily so, as he always did.

Luckily, finding the next floor hadn't been so difficult, though they were greeted by nothing more than obnoxiously flickering lights overhead upon first exiting the stairwell. "Hey, now your goggles are actually useful," he jabbed at Zeffer, while also roughly gesturing upwards. "Don't you think, Akko?"

"Mmm." Byakko hummed in agreement at Aprife's statement, peering around a corner before slipping out into the empty corridor and gesturing for the others to follow. "The goggles may be useful, but I'm not certain I could say the same for their owner." For the briefest of moments the rebel's face lit up with a fanged smile as she glanced back at Zeffer (honestly what was that s**t on his face), but Akko's expression melted back into the constant semi-frown she wore by the time she turned back to the empty hallway.

Her companions words echoed in her head as they slowly made their way through the winding passages. The deaging thing... fun? It had been a chaotic mess. Byakko hadn't experienced such an overwhelming sense of vulnerability ever since being pulled kicking and screaming from the brooding caverns- and that terrified her more than anything. Still, they were able to return to their regular forms and Akko was grateful for that much. Well, that and...

Akko turned to face her companions, gesturing to a solid looking double door speckled with metal bolts. It looked somewhat important, and they had to either go through or turn back entirely and trace their steps back into the twisting maze. They nodded in agreement- press onwards. The trio burst in, only to be met by a rather suave lookin' security bot who was overall not impressed with their intrusion.

With a long, drawn out hiss Akko reached for her signal jammer, pointing it wildly in the direction of the security bot- but not before it gave her a good one-two. Technology- she wasn't the biggest fan.

Zeffer's reminiscing was quickly forgotten as the trio made their way through the thick double doors. It was quickly becoming apparent that the place was going to be like some sort of maze. After drifting through several useless and empty rooms, the appearance of the securitybot was a startling surprise. Zeffer snarled excitedly as Akko rushed to use her jammer, and followed suit, jammer in one hand and activated stun baton in the other.

"Fuuuuck off!" He laughed as he swung at the stupid-looking robot, not caring when it battered him back. It only took the combined signals from their jamming remotes and a swat with a baton before the thing keeled over.

Zeffer snorted and bent down to steal its sunglasses. "If this is the best they've got then this is gonna be a ********' cake walk." the blueblood muttered, wondering if it would have been feasible to break in on his own.

It did seem a bit easy... Aprife hadn't even needed to lift a finger against that first bot, it went down fast, though it had gotten a few hits of its own in before it did. Even if he was tempted to fall to complacency, instead he watched Zeffer for a moment before shaking his head. "We're not too far in yet, there's no way that's all." There was a certainty in his voice, despite the emptiness of the hall they'd wandered into this time. Why would anyone leave a facility like this so unguarded?

As he rounded a corner, the glint of metal caught the corner of his eye and he stopped in his tracks, throwing up an arm to halt his companions. "It's another one of those weak robots," he whispered, trying to back them up in the direction they'd already come. Little did he know, yet another member of the metallic security brigade was making the rounds from a hall to their right and he'd nearly stumbled right into it.

s**t..." he muttered, snapping out the jammer he'd had tucked away under his sweater. Maybe he had gotten too complacent already, but it didn't matter. All that mattered now was defending himself and his teammates.

More security bots? They were at every ******** turn, yet not a single living troll was to be found. Akko jumped to action alongside Aprife as they turned a corner and bumped directly into one of the robotic guards, pressing her jammer in unison. Stepping over the faintly smoking bot, she gave it a kick with her sandal to confirm its deactivation before turning to follow her teammates down the twisting hallway. Where was everyone...? Pushing her nagging worries to the back of her mind, Byakko focused on the task at hand. Where were those double doors?

Despite efforts to tread lightly the trio's footsteps echoed down the stretching corridor, unopposed by any other sound. It was quiet.... too quiet. There wasn't a soul to be found in the twisting hallways except a scattered securitybot or two. They weren't the only ones infiltrating the building, either.... No one had drawn any attention? It seemed a little too easy, yes, but still Byakko pressed on, ever confident in the intel she had been provided with.

"You wouldn't think it would be this hard hard but-" Aprife grunted as he finished off the bot, tossing his dreads out of his eyes as he pulled away. They'd gotten much, much longer, and soon he'd have to find a way to keep them from swinging in his face. "-apparently it is." They still hadn't found anything promising, just more robots, more empty rooms, more occasionally flickering lights. He wondered why they never saw any other trolls. Surely these security bots weren't the only residents here, were they? You'd think after multiple alert kick ups, someone would have come to investigate what could no longer be just a fluke.

The yellowblood had started to lose faith in 'luck.' Something felt suspicious, but they didn't have time to stop and he tried not to dwell. If they couldn't even find the next door, and with all the twists and turns they'd made, finding their way back out would be just as difficult.
