Good Morning
I look out the window.
It's seven a.m.,
the sky is gray, and so
is the room.
Melancholy lingers in the air.
What time is it?
Oh 7:01...02.
The floor, a polluted ocean.
My hair, a birds nest.
My mind, a wild tornado.
Nothing is in the right place
or the right time.
My body stumbles along the ocean's surface,
finding a door in the middle of it all
and opening it.
I look from the doorway
into a hallway
as gray as the sky and
the room.
Silence lingers in the air,
along with a haze,
until I begin to make my way down it
and each step I take echoes throughout.
Another door appears after a few steps
with light shining from behind it.
Touching the doorknob,
thunder rumbles,
and rain soaks me where I stand.
Turning the doorknob.
I enter into a heavenly sanctuary.
Warm, gentle, bright light pours down onto me.
A warm, wet tear escapes from one of my eyes.
Slowly trickling down my porcelain cheek.
I walk out onto the fresh green field as if an arm was pulling mines into the warm embrace of the light.
The cool drops from the rain that soaked me trails down my bumpy, imperfect spine.
The breeze tickles my cheeks as I look at the cerulean sky with its feathery clouds.
No longer am I gloomy.
I am more than that...
I am finally at my final destination.
Just like this tear.
Escaping into its freedom.
Into peace.
I feel so much relief.
From the gloom, I bloom.
Bloom into feeling alive.
