Info/History Daughter of Ushiwa and Saeruin. Sister to Elaxi, Saewulf and Ushiruin. And a ton of other family...its really getting quite large. Anyway she and her Aunty Kina are the most important ones besides her core family. When she was about 7 some bad man kidnapped her sister who was everything to her and hurt her Mother so badly that Sae almost died. It was only her Mother's determination to not leave her children like she had been left that had brought her home and crawling into the barn where her Father was. The following two or three years were pretty rough. Her mother had to tell her what happened and Kechi remembered blacking out for a bit after hearing the news.
She and her family live on a ranch in a smallish village in Matori where they bought tamed and sold beasties...and also kept an awful large number of critters as pets. She has a janarim herself. Her biggest ambition is to become a pirate queen.
Personality Executive -ESTJ-A Chaotic Neutral Tough - The older she gets the stronger and more durable she becomes and the more adept she gets at handling hard situations. The girl has real grit. Arrogant - Like her father she knows she is blindingly intelligent. Protective of her sister (within reason as her sister cries..at everything.) (Hyperprotective after she gets her sister back.) Cunning - Uses everything at her disposal plus a little well placed manipulation where needed to get her what she wants. Calculating - a fine mind to run through scenarios with and look for the best possible solutions. Beautiful - and she knows it Indomitable - What she can get away with she will, what she can't get away with she will scheme until she can.
Familiars Janarim - Undine - Male Snaptrotter - Riptide - Male Kinfa - Squall - Female Kinfa - Storm - Radagast - Snaptrotter - Black, yellow eyes, royal blue and purple spots.

Class Affinity Kechiri had known from quite an early age what she wanted to be when she grew up. She felt that having her sister kidnapped at such an early age had served to solidify the image of her future self in her mind. She was everything her sister was not and her role would be to protect her if and when they got her back. They would get her back, she would hunt to the ends of the earth to find Elaxi and the people who had taken her from them. Kechiri suffered from boughts of temper but like her Dad she commanded respect from any under her aegis. Currently that was only the triplets from her Daddies’ older brother Thal and his..lady. She liked Terrwyn, she just wasn’t sure what she was supposed to call her yet. She supposed she was an unofficial aunty with the only thing holding the woman from her proper title being a inconsequential scrap of signed paper that Terr hadn’t wanted with the dumb Carlos guy anyway. To Kechi it would be simple enough to find the paper and shred it, thus making its bond null. But things were usually more clear cut to her at her age then anything the silly adults did. None of this would stop her from becoming a stunning, feared pirate queen. There were goods out there going to people who didn’t deserve them. She however deserved all of the riches she could get and squeeze out of nobles on the high seas. The water had always called to her, therefore it was only natural that she would align herself with the ocean to further her own cause. Unlike most people the ocean deserved respect and required it in order to properly perform the intricate dance over its waves that was the act of piracy. And the best weapon for a pirate was the double sword on the high seas, so by the blade she would be. 327

Sometimes she was driven to be alone, sometimes alone in meadows picking huge baskets of flowers with Undine as her only companion. Unlike so many in her family sometimes she just relished being alone. She thought she would stop at the hotspring later for a relaxing soak. That was one of her all time favorite places: hot water, nature and privacy. All of the best things! There was more than one reason for wanting to be captain, she got a private cabin, only she got to decide who invaded her private space. She wanted absolute power over herself and her surroundings. She was going to be the best pirate ever. The only way she could achieve this was by thorough training which she had and thorough experience which she needed. Thus she served on Theriar's ship with him as the captain. She was sure she couldn't have found a better teacher. She had tried, but they had been mostly stupid. More rough and stinky than dangerous. She had leapt neatly over the rail and had never looked back. The sea was always more welcoming to a water elemental like her. It smelled better to0, for all the brine. So she worked patiently and diligently through all of her training. It could be very boring, but she took all of it seriously. He couldn't have asked for a better Prentice indeed. He would be well protected but like a good pirate she had done her research and as he taught her. Pirate's stayed alive through intelligence. Dumb pirates were dead pirates. He had taught her for free, she would have held up her end of the bargain. Only lady like after all, even if she was a lady of the sea. Her fate was written in saltwater, not blood. For any who hoped to one day share her cabin they would have to prove their worth to her greatly. She was in it to win it. and only wanted the best after all. She decided to name her ship the Hornet Queen. It would be painted yellow and black with black sails her pride and joy! 355

Kechiri had faced many things in her lifetime but the competition for her own father had not been one of them. Not until now. Now Ushiwa had what he had always wanted; a male to carry on his line? What about her? She was part of his line too. She wouldn't say she was jealous, but she was. Boys. What made Ushiruin any better or more interesting? Didn't she and daddy have a special bond? She didn't feel this way about any of her sisters, for example, but there was just something different about her only brother. He was her only real competition. He tried to play off that he was closer to their mother, the blacksmith, but that was all tish tosh to her. She knew that his eye was on the prize that was her father. She deserved all of his attention her! She was pleasant enough to her brother. She tolerated him well enough. He had an annoying habit of copying her and the least opportune moments like when she was trying to weasel things in her favor. Using words and implications, of course. It was absolutely unforgivable, deliberate sabotage in her opinion, scurvy dog was out to steal her treasure. And the black heart already knew that he already had the map for Ushiwa. He was blood so she couldn't kill him, he was also her little brother and a part of her loved him fiercly like she did all of her family . Of course, Theriar frowned upon unwarranted murder anyhow. But she could fight back in other ways, like setting things up so he couldn't fight back or so he couldn't fight back in situations where he would get extra chores. She had to be very careful in her subterfuge because her parents were ever smart and watchful, but it was just so unfair. The little punk didn't even know what he was doing half of the time. Anyway, he was so young. He would make an most formidable opponent when he grew into the bright little mind of his though. She knew because she had a very similar mind. They were cut from the same cloth she knew. Blending the best traits from both parents, but especially their dad, that great warrior of shadow and fang. 382

It was days like today that she was more than glad to be a beast tamer's daughter, particularly one who specialized in the big baddies, the companions with more teeth. If she hadn't have had such a well trained beast with such a good bond, then the day might have gone very differently. Indeed, she had been sent to buy some fish from Theriar their favorite fisherman and her teacher for the family dinner that night. As for once everyone was tired of hunting. This was a rare occurrence indeed. She had been creeping up on a snaptrotter nest that she needed to read when the father of the clutch usually not as protective as the females of their eggs came up behind her, Undine made sure that the bull didn't get her. She had seen the murderous glint in his eyes as the water had boiled before he struck, Undine raked the tough hide and roared at the Father. "Honestly, it's for the good of your eggs, buddy. You're a good dad. That's excellent trait shows you're smart, but don't be eatin people. It's not nice. You hear me? That's it. You're my new project. I'm going to put you in a hot pink bow." It was going to be a good revenge. "How dare you think about attacking me? I'm practically a Beast Charmer princess, punk. You have messed with the wrong woman I am going to buy you and you are going to love me and and Undine.
Undine very much doubted this for his part but he was too well trained to let his stubborn but beautiful human be injured. No. She was a great master and she would be great at whatever she chose to do. She did not need that sorry sack of scales that she was going to buy from whatever poor sod owned him. Then he would be undines problem. Oh god save him from foolish humans. At least she gave him lots of treats and exercise. she was good that way. Never cruel and her spanks were mostly to set boundaries. 350

Kechi sat in the servicable little Skiff that was her parent's favorite little boat for fishing. It was dark and quiet night and she liked how the waves rocked the boat, it was so very soothing. It was important for hyper people like her to relax once in a while that or she would be ruler of this world much too quickly then she wouldn't be able to enjoy the process. There was something extremely calming about the sea as if she was in the safest place. More so the sea than the land which was not always the case with the way some of the storms came hurling through the bay. She had a rod out baited with corn just to see if there are any interesting fishes out there. Mostly she did her serious thinking out here, ruminating over different scenarios, making big decisions. Thinking about her future and how much success she would one day have. She would make daddy proud and protect Theriar's fishing fleet from real pirates that didn't deserve to steal his ship in the first place. He was nearly finished his new fishing boat and he had a sloop under commission that would be her ship. Theriar had told her to think up a name. Her training was nearly complete and she would be fledging and flying the nest soon enough. She was so excited. It wasn't every day you got your own ship after all, she would learn and control every inch of this spectacular thing. She was well on her way to being Queen of the Sea a position she was convinced that she had been destined for her. Undine hooted at her in distress from the shore. He did not like small boats floating on big water, the poor dear. "I'm coming back. No need to freak out my love. I know you can't swim. She returned to shore to go snuggle him near the beach. She smiled as she held the big head close to her, then she fed him the small fish she had caught and they watched the moonlight ripple over the water. 356

Kechiri clung to the scrap of ship detritus that was all that was left of her beautiful Sea Wasp. She had enough to commission a new ship. Her job was very lucrative. The issue was that she felt like she had lost a good friend, an honorable crew member, her precious ship had drowned in the sea. At least they hadn't had loot in there. She had to be strong, but she felt like throwing an absolute fit.
As it was, she thought she had probably swallowed more than her fair share of sea water. She clung to the flotsam with a determined grip, though she was a bit weak having bonked her head on something. She squeezed her eyes shut and remembered what had happened. An enemy ship had entered their waters, and they had moved to intercept them running in the dark even to get as close as possible for a surprise attack. But in the early morning, they had been detected and before they knew they had been brought into range of the guns. For once they had not been so lucky. Kechiri had a suspicion of corruption in her crew. She had a mild amnesia, and at the moment could not remember who had been with her. Flashes of blurry faces, flying shrapnel, great booms, zings and crashes resounded. She had been trying to regain control when another ship, having snuck up on them from the rear, ripped into them from port side. Their mast was broken. She remembered screaming bloody murder, and then the final volley had hit the smaller ship and the Sea Wasp had been torn asunder and sent beneath to her silty fate along with it a piece of her heart, both sank beneath the waves. But she could not morn over her lost ship or she might as well start mourning herself.
The water thankfully brought her in toward shore, she clung and tried to conserve energy, she would have to find shelter to rest and then food and fire. She had no clue where she was, but at least she knew who she was. That made all the difference.
Hopefully the crew had survived no doubt they would be scattered along the coast or lost to the sea. She hoped most of all that her family was safe. They were the most important thing to her. A deep family blood tie meant a lot. All of her family were in good standing. They only deserved the best. Kechi brushed up against the shore for a while she rested. The water pulsed her onto the sand by the waves natural action. Pulling herself up just enough that the land supported most of her, she rested for a moment.
Then she rose shakily to her feet and stood there, she shook the sand off herself. She looked around and bare beach and fluffy jungled Matori met her gaze in either direction. She headed inland towards the jungle, eyeing the beach for anything she could use as food or a weapon. There was a traitor about after all, one could never be too careful. It looked like she might need help. Her cousin could probably help with that Ultear was excellent at what he did; spy, sneak and ninja in the shadows, which were his element. There was nothing fruitful to steal on the beach, so she moved on. She had to pick her feet up in the grass that grew tall before the tree shaded them out. She paused listening and looked for threats, loot and shelter though shelter further inland was probably a better idea. Her critters she remembered were not on the ship. They were getting their yearly exam from her mother on the ranch. So it was just her crew she had to worry about maybe her memory was gradually coming back and maybe not her mom had said that stuff like that was physical healing happened when the mind was ready to face whatever it happened. A week, a day, three years, who knew how long it would take not her. She hissed away to herself about the unholy punishment she would give to the traitor on her crew as she searched for adequate shelter. She sifted through each crew member that regularly sailed with her excluding family. There were one or two that would garner further investigation. She cracked her knuckles Oh yes, they would pay and dearly indeed for the death of her great ship. That wooden booty beauty had been her everything. She snarled so loud that a bird took off nearby. She jumped and glared, just a bird not a pirate. She sighed she needed to find shelter and soon. She was still too exposed to the elements, predators and strangers.
She hoped that the crew had found each other and then they were now making the way to one of the many rally points that they were instructed to go to if anything of this nature happened. She inhaled deeply they will be okay. They were well trained. She need not worry herself she had bigger fish to fry. Finally she found a fallen tree leaning upon another with an old animal den underneath it no longer looked used and was furnished with dry vegetation, and was well overhung to prevent rain getting in. It was the best she had found so far. She dove down into the hole and rootled around a little bit, fluffed the vegetation and promptly she curled up and went to sleep. Pure exhaustion had finally claimed her, it had happened the moment her mighty will let go of the goal. She had won the prize time to reap the reward and sleep well to plunder another day. She slept deeply, a dreamless healing sleep.
The den captured her body heat and kept the cavern warm and comfortable. It was homey and safe. She slept so deep that she was completely unaware of the to pirate turncoats searching for her above. They moved past her protective log den, none the wiser for her presence below. Punks and fools. The Pirate Queen slept on downright languishing in her slumber in a pile of bush grass and soft fluff. She awoke slowly to the unholy song of a million birds.
She snarled and rolled over fighting the dawn that would have her get up. She could feel this sedentary steadiness of wherever she was, so she knew that she was not on the bloody ship and thus not on duty. She had probably sought an Inn after a long night of binge drinking and debauchery. She had likely gotten that lightning and water man into her bed. He had had hungry eyes and she had been all for it. He had nice pecs after all. She rolled and felt feathers and down. Had the pillow broken open somehow? Was that why her neck was kinked? She shook her head and regretted it. She had a headache. She hated pain, a necessary evil but if she had to experience pain, she preferred it to be in the form of a tattoo. Not in the form of dehydration headaches. She would ring for water, a servant would bring it up, they knew who she was. She cracked her eyes open and looked about, this was definitely not the Boar's Tail Inn. And cheap as it was the rooms had actual beds and were not in the form of tree cubbies. That would be a Jouhar thing. How did she get the Jouhar? Nope, the Birdsong, those waterbirds? She loved so much this was not Jouhar at all. Where was she? She shook her head and regretted it again.
Then it all came flooding back to her she wished ardently that she was back in the dark Inn. She liked camping but voluntary camping, not abandoned in an unknown area with no coin no food and no sense of humor. When she lacked that all she had with a bad temper and the strongest determination reportedly and all of Matori. At least she was relatively sure she was still in Matori. She heaved a huge sigh which she wouldn't have done had anyone been around. They need not see her as human. They only see her as a law in Matorian waters. She dragged herself to the opening of her den. Birds were startled and flew by and a large flock at least their song and squawk were comforting. She's walked back. Outside she saw the footprints left behind by the searchers and started to move carefully through the landscape. They were searching for her she suspected. It didn't match any of her family members. So in turn, it must be the enemy. It was fortuitous that she found her den. Bad things would have happened if they had found her asleep. She grinned. The fools had walked right past her, luckily she didn't snore like Uncle Thal. The sun said it was about mid dawn. Good that it was still early. A stream nearby attracted her with the unsalted promise of hydration. She nearly crawled into it. She was so thirsty after all the drama the day before. She usually preferred ale but at this moment the water tasted sweet, like late season honey. she said when she dove when she was done and just rested there lying flat by the stream bed. She waited a while and then drank more. She wished she could have a bracing cup of ranch coffee but that wasn't going to happen. She needed to move and get out of this area and make it back to the ranch and her family. Then she would see about avenging her ship. Without her the Pirates of the nearby waters would run rampant. She slapped her hands on the ground and got up. They would definitely pay for what they had done to her and to her poor ship. Cretins, mongrels, currs, of all the yellow bellies, they were by far the worst. She moved off as fast as she could go. She would need food but she had nothing to hunt with, her clothes were torn and tattered and she looked like she had been dragged through a knothole backwards. It was less than attractive, though her only admire his way out here would have scales she was sure. 1708

Kechiri had figured out the traitor on her crew after days of thinking about it. She was happy to be home now, safe in the halls of her Father. But she had a revenge to plot and it would take all of her cunning to pull it off. By now her father and uncle had ravaged and sank the pirates that had taken her beloved ship to its watery grave. She had barely escaped with her life, some of her loyal crew had not made it. But there was something true on the sea as it was on land. Rats never died. Time to get a cat.
She stroked the whip she would use in her reclamation of her status her rights and sweet sweet revenge. If metal music had existed back then it no doubt would be playing in her head. Her target was a fat Matorian whom she should have known was a turn coat from the start. Talk about lying on your resume. She snarled and lashed out at the bedpost in her room. Time for action. Her new ship Gyrfalcon, named after a very ancient bird was nearing completion in the ship yard. Tomorrow she would be finished and blood splashed across her hull instead of wine. There would be a reckoning, a flogging and then the man would be sent to the gallows to await his fate at trial, banished from the sea, from the land and from his mortal coils. Her eyes narrowed dangerously, oh yes, this would be good. This was something she had to do alone, no help from her family, they would tremble before her. She was the law at sea, especially on her own ship, part and parcel with the lives of the men and women that depended on her.
All of her years under sail, all of her experience, blood, sweat and tears, gun oil, all of it had made her who she was. She hadn't had to deal with anything like this but there was always a risk about bringing on new crew and taking them on three month voyages. Even stable men had been known to go mad. Their love of the sea was not as strong as hers. Bully for them.
They should have realized that before signing on with a sloop like hers. She was always clear on what they did and she made a point of warning them before long voyages to get their stuff in order and have the opportunity to quit and save themselves and her the embarrassment of what was to come. Defection was one thing, mutiny and betrayal were quite another thing entirely. She fasted the cat o nine tails to her belt and looked in the mirror. There, reflected in her own eyes she saw only iron and a roiling sea of rage in her eyes. This had to be done, but she would be lying to herself if she were to tell herself that she would not enjoy what was to come. They would all come to the call from their captain. The sea was a good way to make money especially with their lucrative and dangerous career catching pirates and taking their loot. Most of which was hard to give back to the original masters and well, waste not want not.
The next day was the day of reckoning. She was exited to get her new ship off in the water and to beat the living snot out of the traitor that had lost her the sea wasp in the first place, after that she could focus on the two new things in her life; her new ship and the presence of a certain quiet ranger who had helped her when she needed it the very most. But for now her little black heart was filled with the need for justice, (revenge.) Woe betide her foe now.
It was all set up the ship had been released from dry dock in a spectacular display. Her crew at the moment not including any family members, which was subject to change immediately, was assembled and they all rowed out to the Gyrfalcon to check out their new digs. Wine had been broken on the hull in celebration and now it was time for blood to splatter the decks. A darker blessing to be sure but just as needed after the death of her other great ship and the big crappy walk through matorian bush to get home, fleeing pirates and loosing body conditioning. It would take her a bit longer to properly fill out but she had made decent headway in that area while Gyr was being built. Yes it already had a nickname. A captain was bound to her ship and she still cried over the sea wasp.
She stood proudly in new snaptrotter leather boots, and called the name of the traitor. He came to attention and she asked him to stand front and center, the crew making a solid semi circle around him. He started to look nervous and as she read out his crimes and the evidence against him. He stared her in the eye and fear properly blossomed. A lesser captain may get the bosun to do the flogging but this would be her privelage. She was queen here.
He had nowhere to go, they were at sea, two crew members dragged him to the main mast to be tied before it, his shirt unceremoniously ripped from his back so she might have the pleasure of seeing her targets flesh redden and bleed before the might of her arm.
Twelve lashes, for each month in the coming year she was deprived of her sweet sea wasp. It was a beautiful and dangerous whip. One which she wished she did not have to soak in traitors blood but it was the punishment of the times.
Twelve lashes were laid and the man screamed at the end, six being a more usual punishment. Then his hands and feet were tied and he was dunked overboard, she, stretching her arm now, went down the ladder with one officer and two close crewman to escort the lily livered little puke who would spend the trip, head barely held out of the water, salt water accosting the bloody lash points on his back.
There he would await a proper trial and most likely be hung. No skin of her back to be sure.
This was proper revenge. And so far as every one else was concerned also proper justice.
Once her business on shore was concluded, (he was indeed convicted and would go to whatever punishment the court saw fit), she returned to her ship, a sum of money in her pocket for bringing in a traitor. She distributed said coin among her loyal crew and inspected the deck that had been crisply scrubbed clean of the results of the earlier bloodshed. Only now with all of her enemies vanquished could she truly breath freely.
Now she could get back to her job and living and seeing where the future would take her. She peered optimistically out and set a course for a small island on which they could gather fresh supplies and maybe see what sort of fishing could be had off the reef. She might even find herself a new snaptrotter out and about. She would never make the mistake of sailing without an aquatic famililar again. It would have been much easier had she had her snaptrotter with her when all of that crap went down last time.
It felt good to have the heaving deck beneath her feet, the crew, none of whom had had love lost on the traitor were in good spirits and ready to jump most smartly at her every command. She was cruel when neccessary, and did not put up with insubordination but she was also a very fair captain too.
This kept her in very good standing and the crew would be on the lookout now for further debauchery on the ship. They had lost wages and more with the sinking of the previous sloop. Improvements had been made over the Sea Wasp's design to make the Gyrfalcon better.
She was pleased with the easy movement it had cutting though the waves in the clear Matorian home waters. She was sure of the crew that remained and she would be bringing some sail born family members along for any longer cruises. It was always good to have some one that you could trust explicitly.
She would learn from the mistakes of the past and grow from this experience. She felt like she had done the best she possibly could with the materials and resources at hand and she would continue to sharply follow her moral compass in the mean time.
The sea wind whispered sweet nothings to one of its favorite minions. Being land bound for so very long had not sat well with the sea faring queen of the waves of Matori. The fishing fleets were no longer vulnerable and life was good. 1514
