It had been some time since he had heard anything from Terrwyn. His little wild wind had likey been blown back to Tale just as he had had to return to Matori. Today he watched the sea caress the shore and his heart cried out for news.
He and Kechiri had gone for a beach walk.

Uncle Thal had been somewhat odd since he had returned from Oba, kinda moonstruck, prone to silences and staring off into nothing as well as long drawn out sighs.
Perhaps he was catching ill and she should alert Grandma. She shrugged, she would watch and see. Illness was a catching thing after all.

A figure ahead tiredly emerged from the jungle, distracting him from his reverie. A play back of those sultry, steamy nights in the desert. Jolted back to reality he realized that he in fact recognized the figure stumbling toward them.
"Kise!" He called, waving, something in his chest clenching and releasing. He was to have news of Terr finally. Kise came over, looking pointedly at his neice.
"Speak plain, I need to know."

She was busy flipping an interesting shell over, for the most part parent talk was uninteresting to her but something in her uncle's tone caught her attention, she turned to regard the leafling with a cold stare and frown, patented by both of her parents.
The man despite being tired, danced slightly from foot to foot and glanced around as if concerned he had been followed. "Is there a sheltered place we could talk?"

Thal crooked a finger and led Kise through the trees to a sheltered glade. "This is Kechiri, one of my most beloved neices." He knelt in front of the small girl that currently wore his brother's suspicious face. She was so cut eand it alwyas shocked him to see so much of Ushiwa in there.
"Kise is a good friend of mine Chiri, anything he tells us is an absolute secret between the three of us okay?"

Chiri nodded, her uncle Thal always made sure to make time for her and include her in all the cool things he did, like helping him clean critters that he hunted and teaching her stuff about fancy plants that could help heal you and what not. She treasured those times just like if he were her second dad.
"Okay Thallie." She smiled, content to be in on any secret with one of her favorite family members. Uncle Kise, (as she had just dubbed him), cleared his throat nervously.
"Terr is pregnant and Carlos...Finley has taken her back to Tale, she wanted to let you know so that you couldn't wonder where she went." Thal had been hard enough to find.

His face was no locked in a mask of stricken pain, concern, joy and finally worry. Terrwyn, his wild desert fling was pregnant. But he would not find out if the baby was his until it was way too late. He had asked her if there was a plan for that actuality and she had said that there was. At the time he had been content. But right now it felt like his heart was going to explode. If the babies were not his than they had failed to rescue her anyway and he would have to wait for another opportunity and hope the second time around that the babies were his, but having a set of older kids would complicate matters somewhat depending on which parent they liked more.

Kechiri put a concerned hand on her uncle's thigh. Obviously this news had come as a shock, the myriad of chaotic expressions on his face made it hard to figure out if it was a good or a bad thing.
She turned slitted eyes on Kise for upsetting her favorite uncle, who after Honi ranked the nicest adult that they had.
Though he could on occasion be a tad dense.
"You okay Uncle Thallie?"

He had not known Terr long, but what they had, what they ahared in the desert. Well feelings like that didn't just happen with just anyone, he was absolutely sure of it. She had stolen a large and growing shard of his heart. He could only hope that shard didn't crumble under the oppression of her abusive husband. None of this could his sweet niece handle in her current adorable form.
He enfolded her tiny hand in his much larger one and with large tender eyes lied.
"Its find Kechi, A friend of him is going through a rough time, thats all."

She tilted hr head quizzically at him, why did adults make absolutely everything complicated. “Why…don’t you just go help her?” It was okay, Kechi would just simplify everything for him. She was glad Elaxi was a girl, she would have more common sense than Uncle Thal. Kise coughed quietly and she whipped her head around to look at him again.

He could tell that his niece was too smart for simple placations. “Well you see Kechiri, and you must promise not to tell anyone this, I am rescuing her in a way from her evil husband.” He took a deep breath. “her babies, well , I might be their Dad, I hope I am as it would get her out of the marriage contract but that might very well put her and her children in great danger.” There he had said it.

She paused and took a moment to absorb it all. She decided to focus on the evil part.
“Well if he is evil than he doesn’t’ deserve her if you lover her.” Evil should just never win on principal in her young mind.
“You can’t go just in case they are not yours then?” She chewed on her lower lip. This would make her usually stoic and relaxed brother mor than a little stressed, she was sure.
“I’m sorry uncle, I hope it all works out.”

She knew that messing with married people was wrong but she also saw his side of the story, the abuse, the undue stress..the bruises. Who in their right mind hurt the one they were supposed to love the most?
He hugged her close to him feeling quite torn apart inside and glad that she had taken his side.

She patted his back and looked over his shoulder to pierce Kise’s eyes. “Is there something this guy can do to help her?” She liked her father, was decent at organizing and sizing people up. She however could hold her temper better when the situation demanded it. So far at least. She hadn’t yet found anyone that really frustrated her.
“Is he related then?” He was a leafer and therefore looked a bit strange to her.

Kise was thinking that Thal’s niece was a bit intense for someone so young, nothing like Thal himself. He was also surprised when Thal told her everything.
Thal broke the embrace with his niece and wiped a tear from his eye.
“Thank you Kise, I appreciate the risk you took to bring me this information. Please come to the ranch, we will feed you and give you a place to sleep.”
Thal kept a hand on Kechi’s back.
