It was a beautiful day, the sun shone, the deck heaved under her feet as they resupplied for a longer run later. She was waiting for a few new recruits today. Theriar had sent word that he had three that he was sending her way, wether or not they came remained to be seen, not everyone wanted to sign up for sailing. It was a lot of people in a small space for a long period of time. This was why she occassionally went on long hunts with her Dad or by herself just to be alone and relax. Captaining was her passion but as a beginner it wasn't exactly easy when she had to figure out all of the things that made her beautiful ship tick. A brisk wind flirted with her hair, she smiled she loved weather. No matter what form it came in. Hopefully the gods were pleased with her efforts so far. She lived and breathed this ship when she was on the deck.

The hybrid was all packed up with his normal items, his weapon for safe keeping and some food and items he preferred. He wasn't sure how long this trip would take, as the ocean was not consistent, so he wanted to make sure he had what he needed. Thankfully he wasn't much of a homebody, so everything he preferred was in the pack on his side. Moving toward the meeting spot, he caught sight of the ship that was working to take off, glad it was the only one in the area as he didn't get too many details from Theriar.
In fact, he was a little concerned he might have drunk too much and gotten his days or information crossed. Who was the girl he needed to meet again?
"Cheery? Kechee? I should have paid more attention." He grumbled.

The sun glinted off the back rails. The sloop was fast and maneuverable and able to be manned by a smaller crew, making her a deadly pirate hunter. Kechiri had had the hull painted with yellow and black with the name of her ship “Sea Wasp” painted in lime green. Hopefully the sight of the ship would be enough to keep pirates off the fishing fleets when they wanted a new ship. But for now she had to fight every single battle, which she did with relish and abandon. “Tortuga bring the row boat, I have a need to greet our guests if any there be.” She was rowed to the shore, gamely keeping the drumbeat for her men. She threw herself to helping everywhere and gained the more respect for it and for being firm and fair. A good leader, a good figurehead and highly entertaining in the pubs during shore leave. Slowly she gathered their souls and in doing so lost part of hers to the process. At least for now.

As he looked over the ship, he was suprised at how flashy it was. Used to merchant ships, this one was very obvious in its background, as if it wasn't even bothering to blend in. But maybe that was the allure of it all, a crew that was true to their wants and desires. It was different for the man, but not something he couldn't handle. With his abilities he knew he would be an asset both for work and for defense.
A sound began to grow as a boat moved closer, and he took a deep breath.
"Well this is it...now or never." He stepped up to the dock and watched as a blue skinned woman with dark outfits and darker makeup arrived.
"Ahoy, you must be the captain." He called out.

Kechiri inclined her head to the speaker. "Ahoy, indeed I am." She called. The boat ground heartily against the shore and she appeared to float off of it. She had spent and inordinent amount of time doing it. Her feet landed on the fine white sand and she pulled back against the pull of the sea. She had to be on land now, she wouldn't be gone long.No doubt if he knew she was the captain he knew her name but just to be sure. "I am Kechiri of the Sea Wasp." She looked him up and down. "To whom may I be speaking?"
Handsome lad, unique features, looked solid like he could hold his own during a shift. She absorbed every detail about him. His movements, behaviour and mannerisms and stored it for later analysis. The wind gusted and flung her hair about, she ignored it. She noticed that his hair was a similar shade to her grandmothers. She had always liked the color. Blinking she drew herself back to the present.

He knew that the girl was wild, Therier had explained such, but seeing her up close really added to the energy. He wasn't quite the same, but he could appreciate it none the less. Plus it seemed to suit her. The dark makeup and confidence was striking and startling all the same.
"I'm Daspien..." He said slowly, blinking as he forced his brain to look past the looks before him. "...Not sure if this will work out, but I'm here to give it a try and see if this will be a good partnership."

"Agreed. It is important to me that my crew is happy, for there will be very rough times. Though I hope to make most of it good." She often ate with the crew as well. Something not quite the norm but their hierarchy was firmly positioned. She had only had to keelhaul one person for a greivious deed and the rest of the crew supported the rules themselves. They had also thought it warranted which helped. She hadn't liked to do it but well some things were not to be tolerated.
Her position was dependant on her image in the eyes of the crew as well as her skill with the twin blades sticking over her muscular shoulders. She had spent years sparring with her Father and Uncles. She had gotten quite good.
"Won't you come aboard and see her in her glory?"

Shurgging, he nodded and moved to jump onto the rowboat, nodding to the one who had been rowing before looking at Kechiri up close. She was a pretty lass, though as a Captain he knew what it meant to keep it professional. Lounging down and relaxing, he nodded at her.
"I'm quite impressed, actually. I've always been so...wayward when I worked on the merchant ships. Couldn't imagine owning my own ship but I can understand the freedom. Always wanted to explore the world beyond the trade routes."

For the first time she smiled. It lit up her whole face and that was why she used it sparingly. Might ruin her image being too happy when ale wasn't involved. Sometimes she pretended to drink just to be able to be relaxed around the men with them letting their guards down as well. She had a hard time parsing the comraderie that she had gained. She was never lonely unless she wanted to be.
"It is freedom and it is duty. While at sea my life is consumed by it. We see shoals that few have and we glide the wind and waves. A blessing and a curse sometimes. For I cannot abandon her ever."

He let out a low hum at the thought, his eyes closing for a moment as he imagined such things. He hated to admit that it was hard to picture, mostly because hadn't seen it - yet. Opening his eyes again, he gave her a lopsided smile back, nodding, "I admit, I'm not sure about the piracy, but the exploration and the world...that's what I want to see. The freedom of the sea."
Leaning forward as they swayed with the water (another feeling he was quite happy to experience) he looked up at her with another apprasing gaze.
"I can tell you're true, Kechiri. True to the call of the sea."

"If it makes you feel better, we only pirate pirates, but it is lucrative. Once the Wasp's reputation grows we should have to fight less. " They would know who's territory it was then. She looked out to the horizon seeing the events unfold in the future.
And then the boy managed to do what no one else had been able to do. He made her blush.
"Is it that obvious?" Though she knew it to be true. The sea had her tightly in the tides. Her heart beat with the waves and she could think of nothing worse than an extended trip inland away from her salty prince. (The sea.)

Well he didn't seem to care either way, it was mostly the whole hunting and killing thing he wasn't really impressed with. But maybe that was his background, and soon enough he'd grow use to such activities. As they continued to approach the ship, he eyed the striking markings with renewed interest.
Her question made him laugh outright, a bark of a laugh, "You know the answer to that." He replied smoothly, looking back toward her as if to give her a look saying that not only was his statement obvious, but the answer to her own as well. She probably bled salty blue.

It was so strange, usually she made men uncomfortable, insecure men anyway. This boy seemed very relaxed and it felt like she had known him for far longer. It was tickling the back of her mind, yet she knew she had never met him before. It was like an itch she couldn't scratch and she narrowly prevented her eyes from crossing at the annoyance.
Slowly they pulled closer to the ship and she reached out to hold the ladder. "Guests first."
That it would afford her the opportunity to check out his butt was not lost on her. ~
It was the little things in life, of course she was professional...but looking never hurt. She was married to her job anyway.

Easily standing and pleased his sea legs were still fresh and comfortable, he stepped forward and climbed up the ladder, his muscles straining a little bit as he pulled harder than normal. He was excited, he had to admit, at the freedom this action represented. Yes, he was working a job, but this job was different. It was whimsicle.
Landing on the deck, he stepped back and waited for the others to climb as as well, peering out across at anyone who might be prepping for their trip. He let out a low whistle as soon as Kechiri arrived.
"Bonny lass you've got here. Well tended."

She tried and failed not to blush again. She had put a lot of work into this ship and she had been the first with Theriar to scrub it from top too bottom. When everyone went home for shore leave and she had to stay sometimes she scrubbed the whole thing on principle and it helped her find damaged stuff that regular crew members were trying to hide, this frustrated her because they would not get in trouble but the issue would be fixed promptly, trees did not grow at sea sadly. Unless you were conviniently beside one of the larger islands and it conviniently was able to be landed upon.
"Aye she is bonnie." She beamed with pride. The other sailors took up the skiff they had used to get to shore. She gave Daspien the grand tour, admiring his sea legs after she admired his sea arse going up the ladder...just for a moment, it was a perk of being captain. She had looked away after of course. She tried not to notice Brighald's smirk (Dorman Brighald was the sailor who rowed her about when the boys were not around to do the honor..he complained about it less too.) But in the end she had returned his smirk and went about her business.
"The galley is through here, we have a few cooks but we are trying to ascertain the best one so that the skills of all can be best used to their advantage. I hope you don't mind but as we have such a small crew I usually eat with the men. " It helped keep them close knit. In as much as she wanted to be professional she didn't see the point of making everything so efficient that it drained the souls of those one board.
