They were on what was to be his final hunt as a prentice before he had the chance to graduate into this new role. He had to admit that he was a bit nostalgic. He would be moving on to more serious training and hopefully seeing a lot more of his best friend Eihari. He wanted to hear the new music she had made! For now through he would enjoy this hunt with his family.

Kechiri thought it fitting that hr hunting partners were the first cousin and the final uncle of her family line, position and importance were very big for her, as was respect. Sometimes she was sure she could have made a fine blacksmith like her mom, but her heart was called out keenly by the sea and the waves and what lay below them., though land hunting came in as a favorite pastime as well.

Bold, brash and what did that make him, third in line behind those two, what an interesting web that had been woven, the prolific-ness of their families indeed, they would soon need their own town at this rate! Ultear had certainly picked an obscure life path, perhaps he should also thing over his own then. He hummed quietly, stealthily following the other two.

He could feel everyone drop into a line behind him and begin to fall into the rhythm of the hunt. A beat that thrummed in his veins, a higher calling to hunt and provide for each other as a well bonded family unit. He knew that no matter where the wind took him that he would always have a huge and talented family to look out for him. They would never give up.

She thought that the well choreographed hunting dance that they now performed, must be as ancient as meat over the fire. It was primal, it was beautiful, it was exhilarating and It was an honor to pay homage to the animal that had fallen. They did not hunt what they did not eat. As was traditional and kind to the land. This had been instilled in them all at an early age.

The other two were so tense that he quite wondered when they would relax a bit. They were after fowl after all, so delicious when breaded and baked with the skin on. Yes that would be exactly what he wanted to do with his share of the meat. Hopefully, this trip would be lucrative and better celebrate Ultear's potential promotion coming up. Tethys was sure he would pass though.

Soon enough he could hear their quarry through the bush! This was the joy of hunting, the reconnection as part of nature., part of the land. So beautiful. It was a subtle dance at which he and his people were at least have decent at! No one wanted to admit to being a lousy hunter in their family after all!
It was the shame of shames, nearly deserving of a fruit hat. Everyone gave their all in their own way. Some raised eggs or animals for meat, others grew things, baked bread or hunted fished or gathered. everyone made light the overall work.

She all but melted into the ground with their mini hunting bows. Her stomach all but growled, she was so hungry. She wanted that bird so bad she was shaking. They were so dumb, she wondered how so many of them survived to become adults. They were also quite lovely in stew... She pulled back and let her arrow fly. It killed on impact and she grinned and sprinted to her catch. "Oh delicious. Wait, am I still shaking?" Nope that was definitely not her, that was the ground!

"What on earth is going on? Do you think? Could it be? An earthquake! A big one!!" His next thought that Kiri was never going to forgive the earth for doing this to her at this pivotal moment in the hunt. Everything had gone so neatly for her first hunt and right at her moment of triumph it dared to interrupt with an earthquake. He was never going to hear the end of it.

He clung to a short sturdy ornamental pine and took a very deep breath. "Its not done!" He called to the others imploring them to hang onto anything they could while a new and devastating wave of force was coming. The delay meant that they were relatively far from the epicenter, if he recalled his classes on earth movements correctly. He had hoped never to need the information. Sadly it was not to be.

Her hunt! Her precious painstakingly preplanned deluxe edition grown up totally, hunt had just been all but demolished by a force of nature so strong that she could only cling to her rock and seeth darkly. "Completely not fair!" She shrieked out so that the others could hear her even over any of their own panic. "My perfectly good hunt! All I got was one! This can't count! I don't want to go back! I will just take my chances with the aftershocks.

My my my, was she ever on a rampage. He had been so hoping that she wasn't going to say what she did. But she had and because of who's daughter she was he knew that the matter in her eyes was final. Sheer stuborness vs all of the force of the earth at once, no thank you. He liked to pick his battles better. Besides what could you really do against an angry canyon?

"Are you crazy?!" Someone had to say it. It never did pay to be the voice of reason though, he saw why this day was important to her as it was important to their family hunting tradition. He got that, but he also understood the incredible increase of risk.
"What if there is more than one earthquake?" What if it has shook up the innards of the earth and we no longer know where weak parts of land are?"
"We can't trust to the foot holds that we are used to."

She didn't care about that! Of course they would be fine they had all been ranger trained after all! Her dad, their dad's, their brothers too in some cases. How was she not to be swallowed by the mundane in a stellar family all because the dumb earthquakes wanted to ruin her hunt? Why had this never happened to either of them?! Not cool! Nope, just her very first real competitive hunt, had to be ruined! She would have none of it, they would continue!

So much for the voice of reason, it looked like Ushiwa and Saeruin's daughter was about to blow a gasket. Too bad, her sister had been all the sweetness that Kechiri had gotten all of the sour. And he thought that Ushi spoiled her too. Tangy but never just sweet sweet. "Well we will be careful still, maybe stay away from outcrops and places with unstable ground potential. He was still hungry.
