Enya

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Nicknames: N/A
Race: Elidae
Gender: Female
Class: Amazon (Trident)
Significant Other: N/A
Physical Description: On the taller side of her Aishan heritage with generous curves and an infectious smile

3 Base Traits: Adventurous, Reckless, Spiritual
Personality:

Enya is quickly growing into a fearless force of nature. She has little in the way of self-preservation because of her isolated upbringing and with enemies that only exist in stories Enya has spread her wings as far as possible without caution! Pain doesn't even seem to be enough to deter her; if anything Enya uses it as an accelerant to push herself further when training. The praise she's received from not only her mothers, but her grandmothers and instructors is enough to give her an inflated sense of self. If she were to truly concentrate on the fight then Enya could grow to be a formidable warrior, but at this point in her life she's far more worried about upsetting her opponent than anything else.

Growing up with such a spiritual mother has left it's mark. Enya routinely visits her mothers shrines for prayers (to both Elzira and Aisha) as well as holds her own goddess, Esena, in high regard. While Enya has never personally communicated with the plants and river she firmly believes that they share a connection with Pyrrha. Even though she doesn't see her mother as a mystic Enya does believe that Pyrrha's connection to the world around them has brought her peace and, in turn, Enya has tried follow that path herself. In times of worry and uncertainty the elidae can be found deep in the swamp, covered head to toe in muck, mentally submerged in the world around her. She's been known to converse with stones as she passes as if they were old friends and from time to time she's kept a stone in her room as a 'pet' because it called to her.

Class Choice - Amazon (Trident)

Enya stood calf deep in the shallows as waves brushed up against her skin. A languid sun crossed the sky above her and coupled with a comforting breeze she felt that today had been a good one. As she grew there were less and less structured gatherings for those of her age with more expectations to start filling in their roles. Some had already started their magical training as Sacred Hearts while others worked more with their chosen mounts or spent hours in the archer’s range. Time and time again she’d been asked by those closest to her where her heart truly lay to which Enya always responded ‘in the sea’.

She’d been trained with the same basic weapons as her peers in the hopes of something sticking with her, but unlike them Enya also had her mother, Pyrrha’s, influence. Battle tactics were something she never cared to learn, nor did she find it particularly satisfying to best an opponent in battle or assert herself. Sparring was fun, though as they got older and the other girls her age grew more aggressive it became less so. So, instead of fretting over it, Enya turned her attention to fishing.

Specifically, trident fishing.

Under the guise of learning to fight with the weapon, Enya took as many lessons as she could before using her free time to dive under the waves. It wasn’t easy at first; she couldn’t count the amount of times she’d been bitten by something foul or swallowed back salt water. Still, the Elidae had always loved fishing ever since she was a girl and after years of lessons from their Kahikian neighbors she started to get the hang of it. Her muscles were less of a warriors and more of a swimmers with the ability to hold her breath far longer than others in her group.

She was never going to be as skilled with a sword as Kanika nor as naturally adept with a bow like Pyrrha, but Enya didn’t mind. Truthfully she enjoyed having a skill that could be learned from her Elarian mentors as well as her Kahikian friends. It may not have been the most traditional use of her time, but in Enya’s mind it was the closest she could come to fulfilling Aisha’s plan for her.

S2 Solo 1

The moment a few of the deckhands spotted land groups of passengers started pulling themselves from below deck to see the spectacle. For so many the sight was a familiar one so they went on about their lives, and yet, there were that many more that flocked to the railing. Among the numbers were Alkidike who were more than ready to see Chibale again, Matori who regularly sailed to provide for their families, and Yaeli who were bravely branching away from home for the first time. Ilsa stood off to the side with her mothers, quietly talking among themselves, and Enya was loathe to interrupt that. As kind as it was for her friend to invite them into their home she didn’t want to rely on her kindness too much.

Besides, there was something about leaning on the rail, arms crossed under her chest as she watch Besaji grow closer. The Elidae had never once in her life so much as thought what Matori would look like, let alone how massive its ports could be, and yet here she was, watching it unfurl right before her eyes.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?”

Turning to her right, Enya caught the eye of a little slip of a man. The more time she spent around earthlings the easier it was to tell the men apart from the women and it wasn’t just because of their physical assets. Breasts were a great help, as were the set of shoulders or wider hips, but it wasn’t always the best judge of gender. She’d known plenty a Kahikinan with breasts who held masculine pronouns and far more women with stronger jawlines than his. Still, she knew that some earthling men prided themselves on their facial hair and if those few hairs above his lip were any indication of pride them this was surely a man.

Oh, he was talking again wasn’t he? Goddess, those little hairs were bouncing around, though and if she could just –

“Y’know, I’m from Edrao.” When he leaned against the rail it was clearly to block her line of sight, but spirits help him he was just so short. Enya could easily see over his head. When he grinned it was in the same way she’d seen a few of the Elaria girls look at Ilsa, and it made her stomach curl. After everything that happened with Vetra the last thing she wanted was flirtations, especially with a man. He seemed nice, if a little pushy, but he just was not her type.

“Edrao? Is that a port too?”

He gave a prideful guffaw. “No no, it’s where the Merchant’s Council sits. Only the best of the best come from Edrao.”

“Then why are you here?”

The man sputtered. Clearly he hadn’t been prepared for such a quick retort and he struggled to get his words together. His hair, as dark a black as either of her grandmothers, coiled around his ears with the most deliciously adorable curls. It was sad, really, that it was the only sweet thing about him. The rest was horribly mundane for a Matorian except for those worms on his upper lip.

“I’m from Edrao and I’m on my way home! You’re not from here, are you? You’re from…Kiros, was it? See, that’s how traveling works.” Collecting himself with a little sigh, he tried to ‘loosen’ his posture but she’d already shaken his resolve. “You should make the most of the time you have, love. You’ll need a guide; a local hand to show you all the best places to be.”

“I can manage. I don’t plan on staying in Matori long and besides-“, She gestured over to Ilsa and her family, “-I’m not alone.”

“Ah.” The way his features pinched when he spotted the other Aishans was nearly priceless. She’d hoped that would be the end of it, but the Matorian couldn’t be swayed. “Well, maybe a night then? No reason two young souls like us couldn’t have some fun in Besaji. Maybe it was fate that we met like this, and really, who goes against fate?”

Fate? She’d been fated to be trapped on a ship like this, with her first view of Tendaji marred by a man who couldn’t take a hint? There was just no way! Biting down on her anger, she instead turned a saccharine smile his way and leaned in a little closer. Taking it for the bait it was, he moved in close as well. She raised a hand, ever so sweetly as if to touch the side of his face-

-and in an instant plucked out one of his mustache hairs.

The Matorian squealed as he pulled back, both hands flying up to protect his face as she laughed. “I’m sorry. It’s just that for a man who boasts about how much better he is than everyone else you couldn’t take a hint.” She rolled the little hair between her nails for a second before letting the sea breeze take it away. Enya’s smile was impossibly large as she looked at him and to add insult to injury she leaned down to pat his head. “Maybe by the time you get this mess fixed you’ll learn when someone really isn’t into you.”

His cheeks were an absolutely inflamed shade of cobalt at that point. With a flustered harumph the Matorian stomped across the deck, not even stopping when he nearly knocked a deckhand over near the stairwell.

S2 Solo 2

Adjusting to Besaji was proving to be a little harder than Enya had hoped. Overall the village – town? City? How was she to tell? - was active in the morning hours with fisherman a plenty either hocking their wares or setting out to find more. While a few vessels maneuvered the nighttime waters the calmer atmosphere gave her a chance to breath and adjust to her surroundings without being constantly jostled in a crowd.

While the sight of an Aishan might not have been entirely uncommon, one of her ilk was and Enya tried her best not to feel unnerved by the stares. Most of the older generations knew to keep things a little more subtle, but the little ones…Well, they could be a little off putting in their purity and when Enya looked back at them with her deep, pupilless eyes she very rarely came out of it without a few squeals.

One child had started following her around the village. It was the innkeepers youngest and by the goddess she was a chubby little thing. The girl was as round as she was tall, but in Enya’s eyes it just made her all the more precious. Her eyes were nearly as wide as Enya’s own, though the intensity of their golden hue gave an ethereal quality to the child’s face. At first she’d tried to avoid the little one, if only because her mother was trying so hard to keep her from following strangers into crowds, but after getting to know Enya the innkeeper allowed the Elidae to watch her little one. In an odd way it helped with her anxiety. This was the sort of ‘local guide’ she’d wanted and honestly, keeping a toddler from walking off a peer or swallowing stones was far more appealing to Enya than having some man eye up her ‘assets’.

“’nack! ‘nack!” Enya had the little one propped on her hip, making the tiny child look like nothing more than an infant, and when Pippa made grabby hands for the vendor she nearly toppled out of Enya’s hold. Even after the Elidae properly ‘scolded’ her – if one could call clucking their tongue – the little one still cried out for the fresh snacks.

And so, naturally, they got snacks.

The stall itself sold speared fruit pieces dipped into a sort of sugary paste that hardened the longer it was left to set and by the time Enya bit into hers it had a satisfying crunch. Pippa, however, was far too impatient and chose to bite into hers well before the substance had settled. A thick layer of goo covered her little cheeks, which was then subsequently rubbed into Enya’s shoulder as the little one tried to clean herself off.

Sometimes when Enya watched children she wondered what it would be like to have one of her own, and then something like this would happen. A living wet cloth? Oh now nice. It was everything the goddess must have planned for her.

But then that annoyance would fade the moment that smile was turned her way and spirits help her when she went to hand Pippa back off to her mother at the end of the day. The child would cry, reaching back for Enya with those sticky, dirty fingers and her heart would never say no. If it was this hard to turn down the requests of someone else’s child what would she be like with her own? How had Kanika ever managed to keep a straight face and lay down boundaries? And how did people stop from stealing babies when they were this cute?
