Enya still didn't know what to make of Zinris. Ever since she'd suddenly arrived with her cousin a few days ago, entirely unannounced, she'd been doing her best to make the most of it. After all, when Luleta had visited Kiros she'd decided on a whim to return with her the day before Luleta's ship was set to sail and now here she was! Mama Pyrrha hadn't been happy about it in the least, Auntie Pruu's face had been priceless and well...Zinris as a whole didn't seem to know how to handle her.

She was bright, exuberant and always smiling which a fair bit of the older generation was not.

So, instead of feeling down or fussing over it, Enya had taken to exploring the area; more specifically the river. She was an accomplished fisher back home, but that didn't make her an expert here. The terrain was harsher than what she was used to, with far less water and far more fog. Even in the day time Yael had a sort of eeriness that crept over her like a veil. It was unnerving; almost like it was trying to get into her head, but every time it tried Enya pushed it back. Standing hip deep in the river, Enya raised her trident, waiting for just the right moment and when a fat enough fish swam by she launched it.

Akel had been surprised to see her Niece the day Enya had showed up but it had been unpleasant. However, she was still unsure of what to do with the girl. Mostly because it always seemed like she was scared of Akel.

So it was an even bigger surprise to see the girl hip deep in some water when Akeldama was on her way home from gathering local poisons. She lifted a brow as she watched her Niece and took the time to lean against a nearby tree. She made sure that she wasn't hidden from Enya so as to not scare her. When the girl made a move to strike at a fish she gave a slight smile. Her form could use a little work but it wasn't bad.

When Enya landed her catch she tossed up her hands in excitement and would have danced a little if the current wasn't trying to take her catch away from her. "No no no, hang on little guy, you're coming with me." The Elidae picked her way through the slick river bed and reached down for the shaft of her trident. The attack itself hadn't outright killed the poor fish so when she lifted it from the water it flopped for it's life, but Enya was quick to end it.

It wasn't as if Enya hadn't known she was being watched, but since she couldn't clearly made out the figure from her positioning she just knew them to be an Elarian. When she turned, however, and caught a clear look at her Aunt the smile paused. There were so many more productive things she could have been doing during her visit and to be caught red handed goofing off in the river...Well, Enya could feel the tips of her antennae darkening. At least she didn't look mad.

"Uhm...Hi there, Auntie Akel. Are you hungry?" She motioned awkwardly to the fish with her free hand.

Amusement flitted across her face at seeing the fish slowly move away from her Niece with the trident still in it. Akel watched as the fish flopped when it was brought out of the water. Her eyes remained on it until she noticed Enya turning to face her fully. She dropped her gaze to the girl and noticed the smile seemed to stop. It seemed that her Niece was still scared of her to some degree.

The question about being hungry made her tilt her head and consider the fish again before she pushed off the tree she was leaning against. Akeldama got closer to the water's edge before she spoke. "Hm. You'll need more than one fish to feed both of us. Might need one for Pruu too." Unless Enya got a bigger fish that could be split between the two of them. If her Niece was anything like her girls then she'd eat more than a little bit.

"I can catch more." It wasn't as if she lacked the ability or the drive. Enya had always been interested in fishing and even now, in a foreign land, she found comfort in the familiar. The Elidae carefully plucked her prey from the trident and tossed it toward the shoreline. "...If you're here to reprimand me you're too late. Pruu got to me first." While she'd never gotten the impression her Aunt was unhappy to see her Pruu certainly hadn't been pleased to have her niece show up unannounced. She suspected that any day Mama Pyrrha would be sending a letter thoroughly reprimanding her daughter for the spontaneous voyage.

She didn't doubt that her Niece was capable of getting more fish but she wondered if she could maybe give pointers about technique as she did. The comment about being reprimanded caused Akeldama to press her lips together and shake her head slowly a few times. "No. I heard Pruu and in our house we don't reprimand more than once." She felt that if her wife got it done then she didn't need to add to it. Besides, it wouldn't do anything other than make the girl uncomfortable.

Akel squatted down at the waters edge and focused on the liquid. "What made you come for a visit? It's nice to see you, I am simply curious." Akel wanted to see if her Niece was running away from home problems or if she just had a wandering spirit that needed answering.

Even though Enya wasn't being reprimanded she still felt caught. She gave her trident a passive little spin, anxiously shifting it this way and that in her grasp. Since her Aunt didn't seem to be going anywhere soon, Enya turned to go back on the hunt. "I just wanted to." Even to her ears it sounded petulant, so Enya sighed and focused on the fish that passed by her calves. So far none of them were large enough to bother so instead she chose to wait and center herself.

"I don't think Mama ever wanted me to come here. Whenever I talked about traveling she told me to 'follow my spirit', but when I mentioned Zinris..." Enya tensed and tossed the trident, nabbing her second fish. It wasn't as clean of a kill as the first, but at least it was big enough to be worth the effort.

"My grandmother traveled a lot, and Auntie Zayana is still out there. Nayyara was my age when she got to leave, Luleta and Alizeh have visited me, but I..." She pulled in the trident and tossed the fish onto the shore, then took a look at Akel. "I wanted to see for myself if Zinris was as bad as she thinks it is."

The answer she got did sound petulant but Akel kept that thought to herself. Instead she watched as her Niece went for another fish and continued to tell her side of things. The mention of her own girls going to see Enya only brought a smile to her face. Pruu hadn't exactly been excited for that. Not that she stopped them. As the fish landed on the shore her eyes followed it for a moment. When it seemed like Enya was done speaking, at least for the moment, she lifted her gaze toward the girl.

"Zinris was not exactly a good memory for your Mama. It might not be as bad for you as it was for her." A slight cringe showed on her features. While she might not have been like the others she didn't go out of her way to stop things. "And while she trusts your Aunt she still worries that you could face some of the things she did." Akeldama reached up to lightly scratch at her right cheek with one finger. She remembered the family fighting that had occurred early on before her own girls were bloomed. She tried to stay out of it unless it upset Pruu, then she put her foot down.

"How has it been so far? Anyone your Aunt Pruu and I need to have a chat with?"

"She mentioned that..." Enya shifted from one foot to another in the river and felt a sigh run through her. "She worried that when some of the older sisters learned I was her daughter that there would be issues and I'm...odd? I guess? on my own." The young Elidae shrugged her shoulders with a huff. It wasn't as if she particularly cared; her family was peculiar, even for those that had chose to settle on Kiros. Still, her mothers thrived there, as did her grandmothers, cousin, sister and Enya just saw it as normal.

It wasn't hard to tell she was far from it here, and even if she tried to play it off that isolation hurt from time to time. "Oh no, no no no. I'm fine! A few of the older sisters haven't been kind...there's been some talk about traitors and thieves..but nothing to my face; just whispers when I walk by. I'm not really worried about it, though; if they're not brave enough to look me in the eye and say it then they can just stay bitter." At that she gave a little laugh and smiled. She was proud of her family, all of her family, and didn't care to let anyone know it!

"The younger ones have been nicer. I don't think they really know what to do with me, but they haven't been hateful."

Akel laughed a little at the term she used to describe herself. "Oh yes, you are odd. So are Alizeh and Luleta. So is Pruu. So am I." Everyone was odd in their own way. Heck, Akeldama had taken more to poisons than anyone else really should have. So much so that when a sister was infected with one the local healer came to ask her for help in getting rid of it. It also meant that when someone got infected she was suspect.

As there was mention of whispers Akel gave a small hum and nodded her head. "I see.." Her eyes turned down, also making her head move a bit so that she could inspect her nails. A fake interest in the things honestly. They were stained black from poisons and she never cared to clean them of it. "Hmm. I doubt they will ever be brave enough to say it to you directly. They might end up with some Keldari venom in their tea if they did." She said it casually. Knowing the younger ones were nicer made things a little better.

Finally she dropped her hand back to her side and looked back at Enya. "Well, while you're here would you mind if I worked with you on your form? Its a bit sloppy." She motioned toward Enya's trident with her own spear.

Enya couldn't help, but to laugh at the false threat until she really...thought about it. "For real?" Her smile kind of pulled a little at the corners as the Elidae cocked her head to the side. When pieces started to click she cleared her throat and looked back at the fish around her. Every time I think she's not so scary she always reminds me that she is. Enya didn't know who was more intimidating; Auntie Akel or Grandma Lumi.

She'd been prepping to throw her trident again when her Aunt's comment gave her pause. Instead of chucking the weapon she straightened back up, her cheeks darkening with a flush. "...Is it that bad?" Enya gave her trident a slow, half spin. "I did most of my training back home with swords, like my grandmother and Mama Kanika. Then I started fishing more and..." Well, when no one in her immediate family used spears they assumed she was seeking outside training but Enya definitely was not.

"I'm better underwater."

Akel gave a slight smile to the question of the venom in other's tea. "I don't take kindly to people upsetting my family. That does include you." Moving on from the subject she watched Enya's form.

When she stopped and gave the trident a bit of a spin Akel lifted her shoulders slightly. "Not too bad but you could be better." Especially if if she'd started off with swords. The fundamentals on how to wield the two weapons was different. The comment about being better underwater made her grin. "That's great for fishing not so much for fighting." Unless Enya planned to lure her enemies into the water and attack them there.

"Don't hunch so much when preparing to throw. You need your back muscles for the throw and your arm as the guide." A common mistake was thinking the throwing power came from the arm. Akel had thought the same thing when she'd started but quickly learned it was in the back and shoulder. The arm was just for aiming.

"Oh no, you caught me..." She shrugged her shoulders with an awkward laugh. Even though Enya could hold her own in a fight it wasn't something she enjoyed and had made that abundantly clear. While she'd never run from a fight Enya also wasn't about to be the first to volunteer to train.

"Okay so, a little more like this?" She loosened her stance a little, moving away from the more hunched posture, and tried to adjust her arm. It felt so much more awkward than how she'd been doing it, but as Akel had pointed out, that was because most of her throws were underwater during fishing. Anything above the water was a different weight distribution which made it harder to adjust.

Enya was like her mother alright. Akel didn't judge though. There were plenty of fighters in the family to make up for it. Still, she wanted her Niece to know how to throw her trident properly to avoid a self injury. So when she adjusted as instructed she nodded her head. "Better. Above water that will help. Give it a try." She motioned toward the water so that Enya could try for another fish.

If the ended up with a lot of fish then that was fine. She could use them for information gathering. Akeldama wasn't going to let go of the fact that the older Elaria wanted to whisper things about her Niece.

"You might get good enough to take me in a fight, who knows." Not many could claim that ability. Pruu was able to best her sometimes. There was couple other sisters that could also do it but their weapons were more well matched to go against her spear. Like the bow for example.

Nodding, Enya looked toward the fish once more and took a deep breath. Once one was well within her sight she let the trident go and was beyond pleased with the results. "It felt soooo weird to do it that way, but look!" Even after being thrown the trident stood up out of the water, clearly anchored into the river bed after spearing it's prey. Her smile was as bright as it could be, even after she waded through the water and found...well, half a fish. With all of her movement the silt must have hidden the color of blood in the water. "Ah, well...At least I got it?"

It hit dead center, which would have been fine for a larger target but the smaller fish just didn't stand a chance. "I doubt that." She shook her head and tossed the fish corpse onto land. "You can be better fighter than me so long as I'm the stronger swimmer." And coming from someone who had grown up surrounded by Kahikina Enya knew she had an advantage. Still, that wouldn't keep her safe roaming about as she wanted so a little extra lessons wouldn't hurt.

"Would you mind training with me while I'm here? I don't like fighting, but I also don't like losing."
