Speedrunning - Speedrunning video games is Emilia’s specialty and her passion. She started playing “casually” as soon as she was old enough to hold a controller, although there was never anything truly casual about her relationship with games. She was the one who would snap up the newest title and destroy it in a matter of days, not leaving a single treasure chest or side quest undiscovered. Discovering speedrunning was the natural next step. As she got Internet access, she saw the wider community and that she could do this competitively. Her main focus in speedrunning is the Mario series, and her best category is the Super Mario Galaxy 120 Star run. She livestreams her runs at regularly scheduled intervals to a decent following and has been to live competitions a few times.
Reading - If it’s not a controller in Emilia’s hands, there’s a decent chance it’s a book. She’s always read with the same sharp, ferocious attitude she has towards everything else, getting through stories in record time, leaving her fairly well read. She was an English major in college, planning to go into media journalism in order get a career in video games. This introduced her to classics she wouldn’t have read otherwise. She does have a soft spot for certain character and can even be known to fangirl, especially where the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings series are concerned.
Beauty - There are high cosmetic standards for women on the Internet, especially the gaming corner of it, but Emilia has taken all this in stride and turned beauty into her self care time. She especially enjoys the research aspect of it all, making sure that she is using the best things for her skin at the best prices and that she knows her techniques and her colors. Then, when she’s feeling the need to pamper herself, she’ll use a face mask, try out a new look, or even indulge in a spa day. She’ll also give others makeovers from time to time.
Virtues:
Patient - Name aside, speedrunning is something that requires a lot of patience. Emilia has spent the last several years perfecting a single video game, restarting the moment that she makes a mistake, and this attitude has bled into other aspects of her life. She is not someone who lives for instant gratification. She can wait. She can be in things for the long haul. She can tolerate quite a bit of general unpleasantness as long as it serves her eventual purposes.
Logical - Emilia is not someone who is ruled by emotions. She lives by the facts, especially in times of conflict. She is not baffled by pretty words or cheap tactics aimed at the heart. Instead, she is able to evaluate products, people, and situations logically, which usually gives her a clearer picture of what is going on. She does not fall for sob stories. She is not overly bothered by trollish comments about her that are simply untrue. In fact, being logical helps with her thick skin in general. When problems do arise, she is quick to move to the problem solving stage rather than wallowing. If that problem solving includes cutting losses, she will cut losses and keep moving forwards with her eyes fixed on that eventual positive outcome.
Focused- Emilia is not the absent-minded type. In conversations, she is very present and usually quite direct. She makes sure that she gets her point across. In other situations, it is much the same. She has her goals, she keeps them in mind at all times, and she is difficult to distract from them. She lives her life with a speedrunner’s precision and attention to detail which serves her well in getting to where she wants to be.
Flaws:
Competitive - Emilia’s logical nature and focus on games has made her into someone who sees many things in life in black in white. You succeed or you fail, you win or you lose, and she always wants to win. Always. She will climb up the scoreboard of life and the others can be the losers. In essence, she acts cooly or even rudely to those she sees as competition. Once she wins, she gets unpleasantly smug. She’s not exactly a sore loser in the traditional sense, as she doesn’t explode. Emilia plays things for the long game. She holds grudges close until they fester and she takes every chance to get back her victory. These habits make her somewhat unpleasant to be around.
Arrogant - Emilia sees some people as competition. The others don't stand a chance. While she knows that she is not yet the best, she is very much trying to be, and if someone prove to be worse at something than she is, she will immediately begin thinking of them as inferior. She scoffs at those who try to talk movies when they haven’t read the books, giving her a bit of a reputation as one of those fans. She's smug to those who can't keep up with her gaming knowledge. Even in moments when it's not as obvious, she tends to see people who can't keep up with her high standards as childlike if she likes them and stupid if she doesn't.
Narrow - Emilia is very much a specialist. She has her areas of expertise, particularly speedrunning, where she is working hard to become the best of the best, and then there is everything else. Emmy can’t cook anything more complicated than scrambled eggs. She can’t change a tire. She has no idea how to use a screwdriver, let alone fix something. She can’t sew. She can’t really clean. She’s pretty useless at most things that fall out of the academic or gaming world, honestly, and she doesn’t show much interest in learning. Those things are for those other people to do, and she barely spares a thought for their hard work. Obviously makes it difficult for some to respect her, as well as making it hard for her when nobody is around to do her basic service tasks.
Physical Description:
Eyes - Warm brown and somewhat narrow. She wears glasses.
Hair - Coral pink, stick straight, and about waist length when down.
Face - Oval, with a stronger jaw and visible cheekbones. She experiments with makeup, but her staple is coral lipstick.
Clothes - Nerdy chic. She has a lot of graphic tees for more casual wear. She enjoys fashion and can put together cuter outfits when the occasion calls for it, usually preferring sleek looks with some video game or book inspired accessories thrown in.
