A significant amount of the other agents were feeling tired, injured, and even malnourished from some magical kidnapping that had whisked them away. Jadarite had heard rumors of an abandoned town and a large, hybrid monster.
Honestly, she didn't care about the details. Management had been asking people to take on double energy quotas, and Jadarite had agreed. She'd been spending a lot of time on desk work recently, anyway. She probably needed to diversify out into the field, and a minor emergency like this was the perfect opportunity to show that she was competent. She was useful.
She would be an even better asset to the Negaverse with more power.
She'd decided to drain towards the university, today. She needed to rotate away from her usual bars, and this seemed logical. Exhausted college students fell asleep in odd places all the time. It a decent cover story.
She'd already found one girl sitting on a park bench with a park bench and no less than six paper coffee cups. Now she was snoring on the keyboard, and Jadarite was standing over her with an orb of energy in her pocket.

Super Sailor Sinistra felt good to be stretching her legs. She had been working so hard, training with Merlinite and Camelot, trying her best to be the senshi she wanted to be. It was hard to figure out what that was, but now she was beginning to figure out her place in this whole war thing. She could learn, she could help, even if she wasn't the best fighter. As long as she was able to defend herself, keep herself alive, then she could still be useful. There was no reason to not keep her studious nature at the forefront of her focus, and learn everything she could about both Chaos and the White Moon. And of course, protect those that needed protecting, no matter what side of the universe they were on. That was something she learned from Camelot, and saw through Merlinite how worthy a cause it was. She felt the tingle of a Chaos aura nearby, frowning as she slowed her pace. This area was popular with college kids, and she knew that all too well considering she was one. She did not live in the dorms, however, and spent most of her campus time in class. Trotting along the familiar paths, though, she spotted an unfortunate student who had pulled an all nighter in a bad spot. "Stop right there!" She yelled, before coming up with a plan. Not her best move, but instincts took over.

A senshi. Of course it was a senshi. It was a strong one, too. Jadarite tried to get a feel for the energy signature as she turned over her shoulder and saw what looked like a girl in some pastel Halloween costume. "Well, well," she said, taking a step away from the student. "Someone's not very fashionable eleven months out of the year." She was trying to do the calculations in her head. It wasn't ideal to go up against someone stronger than she was, but she was determined to show that she could handle this double quota, with interruptions or without them. Also, if she could do some damage to a Super, that would look very nice on her record. She'd run if the tides turned, but for now, she drained some more energy from the girl to show that she could. "And do you intend to make me, or...?"

"You're very right about that," Sinistra sighed, "but it is what it is! I am Super Sailor Sinistra, Senshi of Brooms!" Sounding confident and threatening while announcing she was a senshi of a cleaning device was always difficult, so she tried to emphasis Super rather than Brooms. No one really cared what a Senshi's sphere was anyway, right? Just what they could do in a battle. Of course, her powers were limited to small gusts of wind, mostly, but it was good in a pinch. The Negaverse soldier was bold, for being a Lieutenant. She frowned at her, doing her best impersonation of a senshi to be feared. The question made her façade twitch, though, as her frown deepened into a thoughtful hesitance. "If you MAKE me make you, then yes, I do... intend... to make you. Uhm. Look, that student is obviously already having a bad night, why do you have to make it worse for her? She'll not finish her work now! And the whole stealing energy thing is just so rude. I'm sorry, but I have to stop you from continuing."

"You're right," said Jada, glancing down. The amount of energy that she was pulling from the girl was slowing considerably. "She's running out of energy to give me." She'd heard that people could even die from over-draining under certain circumstances, and while what happened to this stranger didn't particularly bother her, she knew that leaving bodies around would not be very good for publicity. "I should go find someone else. Check the other benches." Her bravado was partly show, too, but it didn't crack. There would be no need to fight if she could just scare the girl off. She stepped away from the student and started down the sidewalk, heading directly towards Sinistra. She'd seen senshi kill people. She knew they could be dangerous, and she wouldn't turn her back, but this one seemed nervous, and as she walked forwards, she continued to glare at her.

Sinistra looked mortified for a moment, then huffed and put her hands on her hips. "You won't be finding anyone else tonight, not with me here! You're not getting any more energy from these hard working students!" At least they were trying to get their work done! Sinistra spent many a night working hard on her projects, and had always been a very good student in school. She had a deep respect for anyone just trying to get their work done, even if it was last minute. She never left hers that long, of course, but usually ended up pushing the due dates because of how big her research would get. Still! At least these students were making the effort! It made her strangely angry that this Nega took draining them, ruining their chances, so lightly. As the Lieutenant walked toward her, Sinistra held her ground and shifted her stance. With all that training with Camelot and Merlinite, she knew how important good footing could be. Of course, this Nega did not have a tail to trip her up with, as far as she could tell. Though who knew what she was hiding? "It's time to clean up!"

The click-click of Jadarite's heels went silent for a moment as she paused a few feet from the senshi. Her hand was subtly at her side when she summoned the stapler. Some might argue that it wasn't the best weapon, but it was real metal, which was better than what many of the other lieutenants got, and anyway, she was going up against brooms. She was trying to keep a reasonable amount of caution, but it was difficult for her to be consumed by fear. "You talk a lot for someone who has yet to do anything to stop me," said Jada, her lips quirking ever so slightly to the side. Even in anger, this girl seemed more flustered than dangerous. The American senshi seemed so much less dangerous than the ones she'd seen on her mission in England. It was true that she wasn't working on a lot of evidence, but she had to wonder why it had taken the senshi here so long to be wiped out. "But if you insist on making this a conflict, then," she tilted her head, then swung out with her stapler.

Sinistra's frown only deepened, though she hated to frown. Not just because of the lines it created on her face, but because she was generally a very friendly person and hated to have to show her angry side. Yet she found she was honestly angry in this moment, maybe unreasonably so. Never had she ever wanted to punch anyone so badly. Actually, she was not consciously aware of a time that she ever wanted to punch anyone, at all. So this was all the more surprising for her. Somehow, though, it only took one little step over a line she had not even known was there to really set her into the mindset of a protector. Pulling backwards, Sinistra dodged out of the way of the stapler. Direct attacks were always the easiest, and she had been anticipating some sort of start to the action. She did not summon her magic just yet, not wanting to deplete its usages too soon. And really, it was more for defense or for running away than offense. So she had to work with what she had: her fists. Shifting on her ankles, she changed her momentum and dove forward, swinging a low hook for the Lieutenant's stomach.

The senshi was fast. It wasn't a surprise, but Jadarite's calculations hadn't accounted for her taking a punch to the stomach quite so quickly. Jada was not a brawler by any means. Her life was video games. She played them. She wrote about them. Even most of her Negaverse duties had her sitting in front of a computer screen. There had been some combat training early on, of course, but that had been very controlled. That was to say, she had next to no pain tolerance, and when the breath was driven from her body, she gave a very undignified squeak. Then she sucked in and narrowed her eyes, her smirk shifting into a full glare. There were no more bold statements. This was serious now. She feinted with the stapler, but her effort went into a low kick.

The squeak was more jarring for the Senshi of Brooms than an attack would have been. She pulled her arm back in surprise and guilt, throwing off her own balance and opening her up to a counter attack. While she had been training quite a lot with Camelot and Merlinite, she had not really been able to put it into practice. And that was the hardest part. Not the fight, so much as the guilt of knowing she hurt someone. Boy, that was something she just did not like doing. It was part of the war, of course, but it did not feel good for her, and she was still not quite good enough at justifying it to get away without the immediate impulse to apologize after launching an attack. The kick had her stumbling backwards, and she felt her butt hit the ground harder than she would have thought. Pain radiated up her spine from the undignified fall, but it snapped her brain back into the fight and she hurried to get back to her feet.

There was a moment when the senshi was just staring at her, as if she was hoping that Jadarite would get the point and go away out of the goodness of her heart, or something of that sort. Even though her stomach ached, she certainly wasn't about to run away out of fear. While it would be no good to get hurt any further, the sight of Sinistra tumbling to the ground after the kick, and it gave Jada the chance to suck in one breath through her teeth, and then another. She was going to bruise. She could already tell. Ugh. For comfort, she tried to imagine what Marcasite's face would look like when she delivered this girl's starseed to her. "You are not very good at this," she hissed as the senshi tried to stumble her way back to standing. Although, for all her talk, Jadarite had not been in many real fights, either. She closed in and swung out with the stapeler again, taking a note from the other girl and aiming for her stomach this time.

"I'm not very good at it? You're not much better!" Sinistra huffed, though she knew she had very little room to talk. She was not the best fighter in the world, though she tried her best with her training. Camelot and Merlinite, or rather Carlisle, definitely helped her improve over time but there was plenty more space to keep climbing. Right now, she was comfortable with defending herself when attacked. This situation, where she was trying to scare someone off and keep them from causing trouble, was a little harder. The only way to get better was to try, though, and she was determined to do at least that. At least she saw the stapler coming this time, dodging to the side and around it, but not close enough to launch a counter attack immediately. She forgot about her magic, instead charging forward and trying to get a punch in for the girl's face. Not that a broom made of magic and a light gust of wind would do too much to help her at the moment, anyway.

Jadarite huffed at the implication that she was a bad fighter, and she took the opportunity to put even more power behind her stapeler punch. That was a mistake. When the senshi dodged, she found herself leaning forward, terribly off balance. It took both of them a moment to readjust, but the senshi managed it faster. When she charged, Jada was not ready. She couldn't even dodge. The fist slammed straight into the side of her jaw. Everything went black. Sinistra would see that this time Jadarite was the one sent flying. She thudded limply onto the ground a few feet away and lay still. Her glasses had been dislodged by the impact and skidded farther along the sidewalk. She wasn't out for long. Within a few seconds, her eyelids fluttered open, but she did little other than blink at the very blurry streetlights above. She'd bitten through her cheek on top of everything else. She could taste the copper of her blood and feel it starting to pool. If the senshi was more murderous that she'd let on, there was little Jada could do about it.

Sinistra felt pain jolt through her knuckles, eyes widening as she watched the negaverse soldier hit the floor and not move. She had never seen someone fall quite like that before, at least not because of something she had done to them. She took a step back, taking a moment to not only catch her breath, but figure out what just had happened. Had she knocked the other out? She took a step closer, hesitating, but saw the other's eyes open. That was a good sign, at least. Should she... apologize? No, that was not what two opposing sides of a war did. Should she continue to fight? No, that was not something a person like Sinistra did. So the only option that really seemed viable was to take this break in the fight to walk away. She took another step backwards, debating all the things she could say to declare the end of the battle, to say not to try anything else. She could even say she won, and rub it in. Instead, she found herself turning on her heels and running away as quickly as she could, as if she were the one that lost.

Sinistra might not have stayed to rub in her victory, but she still ultimately got what she would have wanted. Jada stayed on the ground for a long time while she waited for the world to come into something like focus. She covered the sensitive spot on her chin with her palm before she did just about anything else, and out of the corner of her eye, she watched the senshi walk away. Eventually, she sat up with a groan that was slightly louder than it needed to be. She groped around on the sidewalk until she recovered her glasses. They'd stayed in one piece. Good. Jada did not look back towards the center of campus, where she likely could have found more victims. She did not look in the direction where the senshi had headed off to, where she could still feel a faint aura off in the distance. No. As soon as Jadarite made her way to her feet, she started off in the direction of her apartment. Bringing her superiors a starseed could wait. For tonight, she just wanted a long soak, and her bed, and at least two glasses of wine. Lithiasaur Fin! Thanks so much for the RP!
