Raleigh JacksonShe said she'd try. It was weird, getting the invitation; she knew that Brodie had gotten one as well, and while their parents hadn't minded if the teenage girl or her brother went to this fancy shindig... Brodie was incredibly (privately) vocal about his thoughts on the entire thing. He put his foot down or so he thought, considering Raleigh had snuck out of their parents house, fancy gown, ridiculous high heels and all. It wasn't often that she got to dress up, so regardless of the potential of what could happen, Raleigh was excited. Clinging to the small black clutch that held nothing but some lipgloss, her iPhone and her henshin pen, Raleigh moved through the heavy doors and into the open main entrance. Purple-blue eyes widened as she took in the sight before her - the drapery, the gold accents, the animal motif. Every inch of this place was magical perfection. Except for the weird music that had been playing. No no, that was just right as well. Magical Perfection. The young blunette pulled out her phone and was staring up at the ceiling and decor as she walked, taking pictures. Stumbling her way through the dancefloor and to the food on the other side lead by her sense of smell, she flipped to story mode and went live on Instagram. First she spun in a slow circle so her followers could see the amazingness of it all, then switched it to selfie mode to squeal excitedly into the camera. It was only when she switched the camera back to forward-facing that she caught sight of Peter and Haven on her screen. Perfect! Slipping up to their sides, Raleigh plastered on a huge grin upon her face and greeted them both with probably a little too much glee and gusto. "Haven, hi! You look ah-mazing, oh my god!" As if they were best friends and had known each other forever. And then there was Peter- cheeks flushed as she made sure to compliment him as well. "You do too! Look amazing, I mean. But like.. Handsome, not Haven's kind of amazing." Was that stupid? It was probably stupid. Way to be a dork, Raleigh.Thankfully the flickering lights stopped her before she could continue to babble. [She'll go where they go if you guys are ok with a tag-along<3 - you can quote me in whichever floor you choose]

Quinn BennettShe hated every minute of this. Quite frankly, she wasn't even really sure how she ended up convinced to go to this thing. Everyone in Destiny City knew by now that giant events like this were cursed to be turned into some sort of supernatural disaster. And yet here she was - along with every other dumbass in this city - leaning against the bar in her simple low back, black dress with a drink in her hand. She hated that her back was exposed to the world, but the idea of covering healing burns and wounds with itchy awful dress material literally pained her. So instead of thinking about it, she drank to forget every bit of her discomfort and unease. Long brown waves cascaded over her shoulders as red eyes took in the scene before her. An eyebrow quirked when she very distinctly heard the sound of a tiger growl. Taking a minute to really consider the likelyhood of a jungle cat being here vs some moron playing sounds vs some powered Thing going down? She was one hundred percent sure that there was not a tiger alive in the room. Everything was fine, she told herself as she took a very... generous sip (gulp) of her drink. Inhale. Exhale. Close eyes, reopen. Center yourself. Sometimes she needed the reminder. Another sip of her drink and before she knew it she was making the telltale sound of an empty glass being slurped. She glanced down, made a face and ordered another drink. As the glass slid down the bar to her, the lights flickered and she tried her best to stifle a groan. Everything is fine. Be social. She glanced around the darkened room, trying to make out any familiar faces. Be social with who... Strangers? Ick. Apparently it had been a while since Quinn had been, well, Quinn. Quote: Q is technically open for interaction but I'll decide on a floor tomorrow XD

Jason McClayre
Jason could see Rhona trying to size up Gabriel now, wanting to ask more questions as well. She'd have plenty of time to get to know him throughout the night though, he was a pretty cool dude. Big bonus that he was getting along so well with Xi-Wang. He was secretly cheering them both on, thought not exactly pushing anyone into the arms of the other. It said something that he wasn't shying away from Xi's affection.
"You're right though, it was probably just a ringtone or something." Even if it had sounded incredibly real and like it was right behind him, that was the only explanation. This was an event for art and music. He couldn't think of any reason there would be a live tiger out here somewhere. That was inviting chaos into the night. At the mention of being prepared him simply tapped his hand over a hidden pocket on the inside of his jacket. His henshin pen went everywhere with him. Despite how often he misplaced his keys and wallet, at least he never lot it.
It was then that the lights flickered for a moment. It could be the event was taxing the power a bit, or perhaps it was just a signal that the rest of the event was ready. Nothing bad happened immediately, so it was fine? Right?
"Well, whatever the night has in store for us, we should at least explore some more. Right?" Since Xi-Wang had a good hold on Gab, Jason slipped his free hand into Rhona's. Since it seemed neither of their significant others could make it tonight, they could be each other's dates for the evening.

Gabriel Sūn
"Thanks Rho." Since they were family now and she had said friends called her by Rho, he just went ahead with the nickname. It seemed like the right thing to do here. Even though they had just met, he felt like he knew her fairly well already, thanks to all Xi and Jason had to say about her.
It took him a moment to catch on, mostly because he was still very new to all of this. But when Xi-Wang laced their fingers together and asked if he had brought something with him he finally clued in. "Ooooh, yes. Of course." He'd have to get used to carrying that around with him. Just another things to keep up with all the time. He had a terrible habit of losing pens as well.
When the lights flickered he glanced up for a second. He so wanted this to just be a normal night, for everyone's sake, but maybe it was going to be odd in a sense. Nothing immediately happened though and Jason was suggesting they check out a different floor. Sounded like a good idea.

MalaiseInteresting, oh, he could certainly give her plenty of that and more. He could fascinate her all night long. So this new girl was a fan. That changed everything. Malaise immediately knew which song she was talking about: every band worth its salt had their break out hit, and even if their popularity had only grown from their, it was the one that most people still thought of when they heard 'Tuck Fhis'. "********, you're flattering me - we poured a lot into that." Him and Fletcher especially. God, the nights they'd put into that... It'd be nice if Fletcher was here to hear that. He'd probably be so glad. He burst out laughing at the reminder of the phone fiasco, tickled by the memory and the fact that people were still watching. It gave him such a rush. "<********>, yeah, that was a blast to do - I always do all my own stuff, " Malaise said with a cocky smirk. "Sometimes art is pain, and if I can't do it myself, it's just not worth doing, you know?" Speaking of. That's when the lights did their dance.

DimitriDimitri didn't resist Lia - he just accepted his gel-filled fate without so much as batting an eye, expression relatively unchanged - although the corner of his lips on one side might have been tugged upwards as if drawn on a hook, if only slightly. He watched Nora bounce off with an arched brow, but then just shrugged his shoulders. "She's yours, so she's fine, " he remarked simply. "She doesn't bother me." And it was good to see Mason either way. He didn't say it, although he thought it. These were his people. Then, the lights flickered. Maybe not the kind of party he thought it was - good.

Desdemona"Keep touching me like that, and you'll be lucky sooner than you think, " she teased with a sly grin. She tensed initially, too, when she heard the roar rip through the air... but then grew oddly calm, rolling her eyes and gently squeezing his hand. "Of course it did, handsome. It's just the tigers. - what, are you scared?" and she elbowed him lightly then before leaning against him, still awaiting her drink. When the lights flickered, though, her first instinct was to reach for her henshin pen among the folds of her dress.

Suri Ellis
Of course I don't know what I've been forced into because no one took the time to educate me before hand. Or even ask me what I wanted.
For once, Suri's expression didn't scrunch or crinkle up at the sound of his jab. Her gaze and her posture faded to neutral, leaning back against the bar, and passively she watched him, tilting her head. Between her hands, she clutched at the glass so tightly that it felt like she might shatter.
This all could have been avoided, if only she'd intervened when she'd realized the sort of attention Trey had earned. If only she'd spoken up or noticed, or had the stomach to seek him out afterwards and give him some guidance or context. Perhaps that's what she'd been wanting to do, more than a year after the fact, when she'd agreed to come here. Perhaps she'd just wanted to check in.
But what's new, hmm?
Suri couldn't hold her composure--her eyes flickered and widened, and she set her glass down before she could drop it. Trey wasn't going to roll over and be grateful for her worries, not when everything was already said and done. There was nothing she could do to reverse what had been done to him, what would be made of him in the future, and he made himself clear that he wanted nothing to do with her sentiments. He didn't need her, he never had, and any confidence she had in her own wisdom and guidance fizzled into nothing. "Well," she quipped, leaning forward while her eyes gave him a once over, down and up. "I see my concern was misplaced. All you have to do is what you're told and you'll get along just fine."
She didn't bother finishing her whiskey, even though her mouth was dry. As far as she was concerned, this evening was over--she had more important things to be doing. "Enjoy the rest of your night, Mr. Cameron--" she started, moving past him for the door, and then the lights flickered--

Emilia AsherSo, not a garage band. Mister eyeliner with a patchwork suit was an actual big shot. That was according to Ella, who Emmy didn't doubt. She was really the one in the office that knew music the best. Or, "music," as it turned out. The impressed tilt to her eyebrows lasted for all of five seconds before she was biting down hard on a laugh. Smashing phones? It was a pretty great mental image, although she couldn't help but wonder just how much screaming had been involved. Maybe she could turn off her headphones and look that one up later. Hopefully it would be just as much fun as the guy who took it so seriously. Either way, it was her turn at the bar now, and she turned to order her drink just as the lights flickered. [Exit]

Trey CameronHe realized, too late, that he’d made a complete and total a** of himself.
What ever response he thought he was going to get (though to be honest with himself, he hadn’t even thought that far), it was not what he got. Suri snapped back, her voice sharp and brittle. It cut and the wall he’d thrown up broke, his mask crumbling away to show surprise and an amount of regret.
He’d let himself show his real and justified feelings and, unrealizing, thrown her genuine concern back in her face… Of course she was mad at him. Trey groaned inwardly as he set his glass down next to hers and straightened up, stepping out after.
“Suri, wait…” He said at her retreating back, already berating himself for letting his composure slip. This was supposed to have been a fun night… He was supposed to flirt with her while she grumped at him, wheedle her into a dance, drink too much and laugh about it before he called them a car home, give her a few hours where it wasn’t about quotas and war and trauma… And he’d just thrown all of that out the window.
And then the lights flickered and everything fell apart.

Allegra MarchesaAllegra had come into the event on the late side, because she had had band practice, and then had to RUN home, shower, get ready, and hop into a taxi to get here. She came through the entrance hall, and was baffled by weird music, but... it soon passed through her mind and she was back to figuring out where all the fun was. She was wearing a long black dress with a very long slit, showing off her toned legs, and black two inch stiletto heels, which made her all of 5'4" for the night. She had done her makeup with care, accenting her naturally lightly tanned skin and her full lips, with less focus on her deep blue eyes... They were large enough to get attention on their own, in her opinion, and people who liked to kiss were more interested in the lips. She was heading for the dance floor, her eyes eager and interested, hoping to find someone single and looking for friends, maybe a night of more. She moved onto the floor, body moving in time with the music... She always was at her best when music was involved, whether she was the one making the music or just one of the lucky ones hearing it... And began to sway to the music, excitedly. Just in time for the lights to flicker, and things to... change. Her last thought before that was "********, not again..."

[ Loren Malinowski] It seemed as if things were going to go from bad to worse. There was just something about it all that gave Loren an uneasy feeling. He knew something wasn't right, but... everything seemed fine on the surface. Was he just being paranoid? It was possible he was just being paranoid. He was probably just being paranoid. Loren tried to enjoy himself, moving around the room with as little bumping into other people as he could manage, not wanting to get yelled at or be thought of as rude. He gave a cordial, somewhat startled nod to someone offering him horse de force, oar derbs... those little finger-foods. Even still, he declined. He wasn't hungry, honest, and he was worried about spilling something on his father's suit. He knew his father wouldn't actually care, because he himself probably hadn't worn the suit in a few years, but it was the principle of the matter. Loren's father had loaned him a thing, and Loren wanted to make sure it went back in the same condition it was received, albeit with some wrinkles from the night. He supposed the worst part was that, no, he didn't see anyone he recognized here. That made his invitation all the weirder. In all honesty, no self-deprecation intended, Loren was a nobody. He didn't move or shake anything except his feet and a pepper shaker. There was no reason he should have gotten an invitation to such a fancy place. There was no reason he should have gotten an invitation and been let in looking like he did. Then, the lights flickered. [Loren EXIT]

Jacques LécuyerJacques hadn't been enjoying the event too much. Sure, the music was good, but there didn't really seem to be much "art" other than the animal statues that were around and the lighting. He had gone over to the bar to see if he could get something to drink and was annoyed that they weren't even serving sparkling wines. Honestly, just what kind of "fancy" event was this when he had to settle for a soda?! He had grumpily gotten his soda and turned around to see what he could "do" and thought he heard some sort of... animal growl. He rolled his eyes. They were probably adding in animal sound effects to fit more with the "atmosphere" that the statues were supposed to be creating. Well it wasn't working on him! What kind of tacky place was this? And it was supposed to be formal?! He couldn't help but look disgusted as he waited for... well whatever was supposed to happen. Surely it wasn't just mingling around looking at some statues with wild animal sounds interjected in there every now and then right? He took another sip from his Sprite, not wanting to get the caffeine that the other sodas were offering and even any of the fruit-flavored ones. He found those to be too sugary compared to the others. He had only gotten to enjoy it for a little bit, though even that was questionable, when the lights suddenly flickered. He thought he saw movement, felt something, heard some growling noises and perhaps saw some lights somewhere? But it didn’t matter. He was gone. [Jacques EXIT]------------------------------------------------------- Nolan EllwoodNolan sighed. He knew he should try to enjoy himself here, even if he hadn't wanted to go in the first place and was probably going to be dragged onto the dance floor. "I know. I'm not trying to bring the mood down, but I've heard... rumors. Rumors about... others not following the rules and even putting people like us at risk." He meant Negaverse officers of course. Not just powered people in general. "I wish that we could just go to an event and enjoy it and not have anything weird happen to us." He said, giving her a tired smile. He had only joined in November, but he had had talks with his General. And he had been told to look out for these sorts of things. And this place was giving him the creeps! They were walking toward the buffet still. "Look, if something happens tonight, then let's take a rain check on the revenge all right? I still remember being stuck in that stupid bottle thing from last month..." He said trailing off when the lights suddenly flickered. He didn't even realize he was gone. [Nolan EXIT]Leopleuradon moving on to next thread, will quote you there ------------------------------------------------------- Sachio SugiyamaSachio grinned. "I agree with you there. Fashion doesn't seem to be varied over here in the states." He looked at her outfit again. "I've seen it a few times when I've gone to visit family. But I have to say, you're the only one that it looks natural on. Don't worry about it!" He wondered what other kinds of outfits she had. He would like to see them. Better than the boring stuff they had around here. What could he wear that was different? An infinity scarf? He nodded his head in agreement about keeping an eye out. "I don't dance too much, but hopefully we won't be stepping on each other's toes if it's a slow one. Or at least we can take a few peeks at our feet to see if we're about to go the wrong way." He gave her a wink. One couldn't go through life without trying new things! Or at least he wanted her to enjoy the event if it wasn't another Negaverse plot. Unfortunately for the both of them, it WAS. The lights flickered. [Sachio EXIT]

Lori Croix
Yeah, crazy things did tend to happen, but that didn't mean every event like this was one of them. Still, the more he talked on and on, the more she did maybe feel a little bit creeped out. Lori had hoped this would be a nice event to enjoy. Wait until she got home and told Landry he was right to have avoided it. She'd never live it down. "Well, all I have to say to that is...there's no fun without a little risk." Lori had a weird habit of enjoying getting into trouble. Being in the rift a couple of months ago had been extremely exciting.
"Hmmm, I don't know about that. At the first sign of trouble I might just push you toward it." There a look on her face for just a moment that made her seem deadly serious. But, eventually a smile washed over her face and she laughed just a bit. "I'm okay with a Truce for now. If things do go bonkers, it would be nice to have a side kick around."
That was when the lights flickered and she reached out toward Nolan, just in case something weird was about to happen.

Lia"You didn't miss much, Baby Mason." Lia replied in regards to prom. Just a dance. Fun and all, but dances and events were really a dime a dozen. The woman grinned as Di didn't even bat an eye lash as she mussed his hair up, and she turned that grin to Nora's retreating back, waving after the girl. "Oh, pshaw!" A tanned hand waved flippantly at Mason. "What Di said, and she's more than just fine---" The woman cut off as the lights flickered. [ EXIT ]

Mason and NoraSince Dimitri was chill, Mason's body relaxed. It wasn't that he didn't trust the man, but he didn't know the things that would trigger the clown and he'd rather be the clown's friend then an enemy. After all, Dimitri did the things some of them couldn't do. Lighters flickered and Mason sighed, "What the ******** man. Can't a party just be a party." Nora didn't get too far away, mostly close to the middle of the floor when the lights flickered and she looked up. Should probably make her way back to Mason... If she could. [EXIT FOR BOTH]
