Amazonite found that discussions with her fellow officers were often profitable and pleasant. Recently, she'd been able to chat with Marialite and found that she got quite a bit out of it, and now, she could feel the aura of another Lieutenant nearby.
It was with a spring in her step that she approached, humming lightly and ducking around a corner to spot a woman in a business suit that looked juuust off enough from an ordinary civilian's to make Amazonite perk up.
"Hey there," she chirped, cheerily, and she grinned and gave a little finger-wiggle wave.

Jadarite had gathered enough evidence at this point to know that she was not prepared to face off against any senshi on her own. As a result, she was juggling a delicate balance between trying to be a stand out officer and trying to stay safe, which at the moment meant limiting her time powered up. Although, she couldn't cut it out entirely. She wouldn't be caught dead not turning in a full quota. As soon as she felt the other Negaverse aura in the distance, she headed towards it. Numbers were one way to mitigate risk, and branching out with her connections also seemed useful. The other agent was easy enough to spot. Her hood and bodysuit were flashier than Jada's own uniform. "Good evening," she said with a nod. "What brings you out?"

Amazonite shrugged, a little, and stretched. As she did, though, idle as her movements seemed, she was observing; examining the Lieutenant and judging. There wasn't much information yet, but she'd learn as she talked. That was the fun part, after all!
"Oh, you know. Quotas, and also I don't leave the house much out of uniform, so this is like...my exercise and also my social enrichment." She laughed, like it was a joke--but Mirielle Lacroix really did not do much, just taught and graded papers and sometimes played video games or read books. She had few friends and little else to fill her days with, and being Amazonite was the best way for her to get out.
"How's your night been so far, Lieutenant?" She asked. "Ah, I'm Amazonite, by the by."

Jadarite nodded. She was no even trying to hide that she was watching the captain carefully and considering every word. Exercise was a benefit of patrolling that she hadn't considered. Social interaction seemed like more of a stretch, as she'd found it could be months between the times she would run into an agent on the street like this. Although that was still better odds of face-to-face socialization than Emmy's typical weeknights, which involved Twitch streams and the occasional book. "Lieutenant Jadarite. Infiltration," she said, extending a hand. "It's been fine. Less streamlined that I would prefer. The senshi have taken to watching the bars where I was doing my draining, and I have yet to find a place quite as lucrative." She was still finding energy here and there, but the energy she was having to put into the gathering was mildly frustrating.

Amazonite nodded, briefly, taking Jadarite's hand and shaking it. "I'm with GenOps; I've been an officer for years, but never quite fell into any of the branches. Most of my work is....research related, let's say." She smiled, not that it would show through her mask.
"As for lucrative draining locations, it's true that a bar or club is going to be perfect; people won't notice losing energy because they expect to. I've been thinking about sitting on 24-hour convenience stores, myself; there will always be people going to those. Or grocery stores or restaurants that are open late." All places people tended to congregate.

"Research?" Jadarite inclined her head with a small, curious smile, even as she stepped back to more of an appropriate conversational distance. "What does that entail?" She adjusted her glasses. "I'm looking for a way to get the Negaverse's name out there in a positive light. I'm work shopping a few ideas now, but it's very important that I don't get caught on absolutely anything in the meantime." At least by the public. The senshi were another matter. It was harder to hide things from them, and that wasn't her jurisdiction, anyway. "Restaurants might work. I've been going to the university, some. I'll look around later."

Amazonite perked up. A chance to talk about her research was always a nice thing, and she was certainly eager to chat at any willing ear.
"Right now, I've been doing a lot of poking into youma and half-youma. we know quite a bit about them, how they're made, and so on, but I believe very strongly that there's plenty left to learn! Their irrational hatred of Senshi, for instance--how far does that stretch? What can we do to mitigate it when it comes to our own?" She was perky and bright as she gave her explanation, like she'd just been offered a favorite toy to play with. "Honestly, they're fascinating. And easier to get a hold of than human subjects, where, you know, I can only push so far, and they're a limited resource..." Amazonite sighed. "Alas."
She kicked her foot, though, grinning. "As for putting the Negaverse in a positive light, I wish you all the best. I wish I could give some advice, but I don't remember why I decided to corrupt." Almost unconsciously, she put a hand on her chest, against the burned-in mark there. "I actually don't think I wanted to, and that's why I don't remember?" She shrugged. "Stupid me, this is much better than whatever I was doing before, I'm sure."

“Youma?” Jada straightened slightly, keeping eye contact with the other woman. It wasn’t that she was particularly interested in the creatures, other than as tools, but anyone speaking so passionately about something was enough to catch her attention. “I was warned to give them space until I became powerful enough to command them. There are some rumors going around about overconfident lieutenants ending up hurt of even merged into these youma amalgamations, I’m not sure if you’d heard anything about that?” Her tone was half genuine question, half challenge. “Not that I wouldn’t look gorgeous with fangs, but that’s just not what someone’s first glance of the Negaverse should be.” Having some fanged thing as a sidekick, on the other hand, could be quite useful. That was another reason to do what some could for this promotion. She looked over Amazonite’s outfit with renewed interest. “I’m sure this is a better option from you,” she said. “I haven’t actually met any knights, but on paper it doesn’t look like they have much going for them.”

Amazonite nodded, and pulled down her mask so Jadarite could see more of her face. It was always helpful to emote at people, so they saw a person and not a strange wall. In this case, it was a slightly awkward smile.
"It's true, you need to take care. I spoke to a Lieutenant who became a half-youma that way. Not by his own arrogance, but it was by tangling with a youma that was too strong for him." She shrugged. "Though arguably that's a better fate than being eaten."
Her smile got a bit more jovial, though. "It's true--you aren't suited for it. I'm sure you'd make a lovely monster lady, but people might be a bit put off by it before you even get to lay out your pitch." She stretched, and sighed. "But I do wish I knew exactly what I'd left behind, as a Knight. I'd really like to be able to agree with you, I just genuinely don't know."

Jada was silent for a moment, lips slightly pursed, considering the implications of accidentally being merged with a youma. "Yes. I'm hoping to work some with the civilians as well, so that should be avoided," she said. "But perhaps it won't be too long until I can get a little helper who doesn't try to eat me." It was taking time, but she still had her eye on that promotion. At the question, she tilted her head. "You're a researcher, aren't you? You could look into knights." It was always good to know the enemy, after all. "What I know comes from the database, which wasn't particularly comprehensive. It could use an expansion, and you could find your personal answers while you look into it." Unless the knights were hiding powerful secrets, Jadarite doubted their organization offered most of the benefits that being in the Negaverse did.

Amazonite nodded along with what Jada was saying. It made sense--a youma could be a helper as much as a hindrance, she supposed. At the Lieutenant's suggestion, though, tilted her head to the side, thoughtfully.
"You know, I could look into Knights. I'd have a hell of a time getting research subjects, and dragging any information out of them would be a chore, but you're right, there's so much I might learn." Her eyes began to sparkle with a sort of manic excitement. "I doubt there's anything I could learn that would make me regret being what I am, but I'd love to bring a little more benefit to the Negaverse by researching it all."
She bounced onto her toes, briefly. "And maybe I'll run into someone who knows a little bit more about who Mimisbrunnr was. That'd be neat."

“When you talk about research subjects, do you mean to take them to a laboratory or interrogation situation?” asked Jadarite. Her lips were pursed slightly in thought, but there was no disapproval in her expression. Eventually, she gave a single, sharp nod. “Challenging, but probably for the best if you can pull it off. It would get them off the street.” There was another long, thoughtful pause. This was one of the more competent agents that Jada had met. She wouldn’t mind seeing where her little experiments went. “I could assist you, if you’re interested.” She flashed a brief smile. “Especially if you turn them in for corruption afterwards.”

Amazonite hummed.
"Either, both," she said, idly. "An interrogation can be conducted in a laboratory, and there's no way to properly test anything outside controlled conditions. We eliminate enemies and get important research data." She grinned broadly.
"I would be happy for your assistance. Anyone who survives the tests would be perfectly good candidates for corruption, and anyway, that would ensure they couldn't take anything they might have learned while in the lab back tot he other side." Her eyes sparkled with delight. "How absolutely perfect."

Jadarite squinted slightly, but eventually nodded. "True, true," she said. There were hints that Amazonite might be one of the unhinged sorts that she'd been warned about, but as long as her projects were useful and kept any unpleasantness away from the public's prying eyes, Jada was not particularly concerned. "I like this idea. I like it a lot," she said, adjusting her glasses. "For a start, I'll let you know if I find any interesting targets." Her gaze finally flicked from the other agent to the streets beyond. "Although to do that, I should probably get back to work. They'll be more likely to avoid us if we stick together, yes?"

Amazonite clapped. "Perfect," she said, brightly. "I'll look forward to our continued collaboration."
She gave a brief, sweeping bow, and then a cocky little wave.
"But yes, better that we part ways here. Good luck with your work, Lieutenant!"
