Risuleri and her brother Rafiki were basket-born just before the earthquakes that eventually lead to the leaving of the flock, and their baskets rested in one of the old nursey caves with her mother and one of the nannies and their nursemaids.

However, as the tremors turned into the first of the full quakes, the cave began to crack and eventually collapsed.

It was one of the first tragedies of the cataclysmic event that was at then only one isolated event -- Many baskets, recent mothers, and mares were lost to the falling rocks.

Except for two baskets, found in a pile of rubble, the precious bundles shielded by a young nursemaid named Risuleri. Shortly after the foals immerged, and the young mare of the siblings was given the name of the mare that gave her life up to save them, and they were dubbed "Earthstrike" in memory of the Earthquake.

A month later, the Second of the Great quakes struck, the mountains roaring. By the time it was over, whole valleys proved inhospitable, the ground too unstable to climb to the other side, entire families found crushed in the rubble, and the river's flow began to slow.

As more disasters befell the valley, Risuleri, just a child and not understanding what was happening and scared of the land she was in, joined her Flock in the great migration from the lands after the burning invisible fumes and angry fires ate at their land enough to chase the survivors, too many to survive near the safety of the temple territory to the new land.

Because of this, the young mare grew with the strong loyalty to her family for the need of protection.... But the curiosity of the younger generations of their new world, wishing to learn more of it all.

She's part of the performing guild as a Dancer, and one of the mares who assisted Taarab and his Father Cabriole Amachi set up the Guilds in the first year of her adulthood.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Kalyana
Played By: Kitsune Mistress Nyoko

Kalyana is rather openly flirtatious, and one of his favorite pastimes is entertaining. It doesn't matter to him if it's a stallion or a mare, whether they just want company or romance. He's proud to offer his skills to anyone who needs them, and especially favors entertaining through dance or singing. He'll happily respond to pretty much any job offer for a Whistler, since serving the mares of the herd is something he genuinely enjoys - regardless of whether the trinkets they offer him in return are lavish or modest. He prides himself on being a Whistler any mare can afford if he strikes their fancy, and he doesn't consider his job done unless that mare can sing his praises to anyone who will listen. (If they're so inclined to sing praises, anyway.) He can, admittedly, be a bit vain when it comes to his appearance - and especially personal grooming. Anyone would be hard pressed to find him with a single hair or feather out of place when in public. He doesn't really see this as a flaw either, since he believes maintaining a well-groomed appearance is a core aspect of being a Whistler.

Their relationship

Risuleri, being a sweet, gentle, and affectionate mare tends to make friends with the stallions she Spends time with, getting to know them before choosing them as a potential partner, as she wishes to avoid most aggressive temperaments or those prone to wanderlust just in case she has any sons, not wishing to lose them to the world beyond the Flock.

Because of this, the two are casually close, essentially friends with benefits. While the girls will be raised mostly by their mother, she will let Kalyana have interactions with his daughters beyond just being formally introduced to them as they near adulthood: They'll grow up knowing who their father is and spending some time with him, though it wouldn't be full time as their father is a respectable Whistler, belonging to the Flock as whole and the Sacred Mothers in particular.

Played By: Mindsend

Her name is inspired by her father, a habit Risuleri will continue with future offspring, as a way to honor the dad: They gave her a baby, they did a good job.

Like her mother, she will become a performer, but rather than just dancing, she'll get into Musical Theater, helping tell stories through song, dance, and acting with other members of the performance guild.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Sanaa Earthstrike
Played By: Kitsune Mistress Nyoko

Sanaa will likely take after her father in some aspects. She has a bit of a vanity streak, and will turn out to be quite flirtatious in adulthood. She has an excellent sense of rhythm inherited from both her parents, and will decide pursue dancing very early in her life. She will happily join any productions her sister needs an extra hoof for but dancing is definitely her first love.

Other Family
Siblings of Parents (So can be used as a way to approximate what their parents looked like for throwbacks)

Rafiki Earthstrike: Played by Beejoux. Risuleri's twin brother.
Lalita: played by Techabyte. Kalyana's Brother. Also a whistle stallion. Won't spend too much time in the girls life, but is someone they would know from childhood since he's often in the same area as their father and is their uncle.

Close Family Friends

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Vanya
Played By: Nyx Queen of Darkness (previously owned by Lolternative)
Vanya is vain, proud, materialistic, and selfish. At first appearance, Vanya doesn't seem to be the kind of soquili that you would even want to get to know, but for all her bad qualities she actually does have a good heart.

As a foal she was picked on by her more beautiful sisters (biological and flock) to the extent that she developed an inferiority complex. She threw herself into her dancing. She was not gifted with a beautiful voice (it sounded more like screeching) but she was gifted with grace and an appreciation for beauty. While her Sisters grew strong and assured in their beauty, Vanya worked diligently at dancing. She ignored most of her other lessons, only focusing on dancing which she prized above all other Flock occupations.

With practice, she became perfect and by the time she was a foal she had began inventing her own dances, most of which involved her prize bells. In her teen years, she flourished. Her beauty overcame all of the sisters who had put her down. As it often does, the notice went to Vanya's head and she lorded it over everyone who had ever put her down. It was then that Vanya started collecting beautiful things: jewelry (gifted or made by her own claws), silks, choice foods, and eventually as she grew older--males.

Thus an empire based on her beauty and dance skills was formed with her faults hidden away. Unable to venture outside of the Flock because of her lack of predatory/capturing skills she has to have the help of her Flock sisters to seduce an entrap a stallion outside of the flock. She does not share easily though--not her prized stallions or her jewels (especially those given to her or those she's made).

She's a prima-donna by nature. Everything she does or says is done in a larger than life fashion. She is the best in all things related to beauty and grace, disdaining accomplishments like being a fighter or scholar as boring.

Vanya will never keep to one nest. She goes through males easily, picking them for attributes of beauty, strength, or demeanor to specifically breed superior offspring.

Vanya can be won over by flattery and gifts, but if you cross her you will taste her claws. She will protect those she loves with every fiber of her being, her love and respect once won are not easily lost. You will find that she's a true and valiant friend despite her pompous nature. She's even been known to share with them.

But everything changed when she fell for Taarab. However, he was the Oracle's pet. But, as luck would have it, the Oracle let her be his protector. It stayed that way for a long time, with her only sharing him with her closest friends as she took on other lovers. However, as she coveted him more for her own, the Oracle took notice and split his protection between two others who would be a little less likely to fall in love with the stallion. They still Spend most of their time together, but it's more casual affection.

Risuleri and Vanya are close friends, and they even share a Private Cave known as Crafter's Hallow with Her, Their daughters, a few other mares, and a small harem of males from the Artisan guild who live with them so they can have a more private studio area.

Both of them Helped Taarab Form the artisan guilds, which include the Dancers guild (within the performance arts guild) and are regular patrons and practitioners of the artisan guild.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Taarab

Taarab is an odd case: A Male who gained respect as a near equal in the Flock, as well as being a male with Four Official protectors: Aylin the Oracle of the Flock who's "pet" he is and is his official protector (though not in the flock proper most of the time, living in the Ancestral lands in the ancient Temple of the Oracle, Vanya, who acts as one of his Three 'handlers' for Aylin, Laveda, who was assigned it as his daughter to act as Aylin's voice and because most mares end up falling in love with him and, being an asexual and his daughter wouldn't get jealous or be ultra picky of potential partners for him, and one of the sacred mothers to help act as a matchmaker.

As an artisan of diverse experience and raised in a way that allowed him to focus his energies into bettering the Flock as a whole, he acts as Head of the artisan guild, and was the one who approached the queen (With her permission after some negotiations from his mother Zahraa', one of the queen's two commanders) while still only two years old with his grand idea, and how it would help not only the sisters, but help reduce the amount of males who fled, and truly help the flock as a whole blossom after the Cataclysm that misplaced them from the ancestral lands and brought them to the Great Oak Forest.

He's one of the males who the mares would see the most often, living in the same cave structure most nights as their mother (along with whatever male interested Vanya at the time, or other Stallions or Mares who cycle through as artisans continuing their work.

Others who live with them.
Vanmoriel: Played by Mindsend. Vanya and Taarab's daughter. Is a Mixed Media Painter. Around some of time, But looking into getting an Earthen Dwelling built nearby so she can have her own studio.
Vaniana: Played by Mindsend. Vanya and Taarab's daughter. Makes and plays Percussion instruments. Around most of the time, but can be gone for weeks looking for fallen trees to harvest and craft into instruments after storms.
Avalyn: Played by Mindsend. Vanmoriel's Daughter, and a Long Distance Scout/messenger/forager. Can be gone for Months at a time, but keeps correspondence
Teleri Lindai: Played by ~Latonia de la Courtel~. Like her sister Avalyn, she's a long distance scout and can be gone more often than not.

Others involved with those who live with them
Aylin: Played by Mindsend (Previously by Dixie) . The Oracle of the Flock, Only arrives about once or twice a year, and often too busy to really spend time with the girls. She's there, but not ACTIVELY there.
A few Non-canon mares/stallions who haven't been made yet.
Laveda: Played by Mindsend. Daughter of Taarab and Aylin, she also acts as the official "Voice of the Oracle" when Aylin is away.
Galla Sile: Played by Nyx Queen of Darkness. Vanya's Frenemie: They're friendly Rivals.
THE REST OF THE FLOCK: The girls will pretty much learn and get to know all flock members, (Such as other children/relatives/parents of other groups) there are just some they will meet the most.. But aren't actually family members.

Their Nest

Between the Artisan Guild and the Sacred Mothers Territory in the Flock, They'll spend the first three years Sleeping here, and May choose to Shelter here or nearby with them when they grow, or move to a different part of the Flock. The trees are a bit more scarce here, being more in the mountains than the main oak Grove of the flock, most of the area being more scrubland, and a lot of it getting managed by others.

In Emergencies where the Flock is being attacked or a major storm looms, it is also used as an emergency Shelter, as it is easily defended and in an area that doesn't Flood and has no signs of ever having mudslides. Some Winters mares and their Stallions may also weather with them.

Name of Child in Basket: Chiamaka Earthstrike
(Chiamaka is African meaning the spirit knows)

Username: stormflower

About Child:
Chiamaka in one word would be determined! Affectionately called Chia by her closest family and sisters as a foal she was clumsy and unsure of herself but otherwise your typical filly. Energetic and happy but a little jealous of her born sisters grace and elegance. This was especially so when it came to dance, as much as Chia loved music and could get lost in the beat she had 4 left 'feet'. She would often attempt to skip dance lessons or find some excuse to not go, most often not being successful however.

Talents and lessons aside she is very fond of her ENTIRE family and embraces the lore and culture. Chia is also headstrong and determined in everything she does. Though she avoids the more public lessons she will practice in private or confide in a few special persons to help her in private, her mother raises not a quitter. She wants to say she at least tried her hardest and though she may be frustrated or disappointed at times she is rather good at hiding how she truly feels. Her closer family she cannot always fool however, especially her father.

Chia can also be a little bit of a goof ball when lessons and teachings are over. She likes to jump and run around with all the foals and play, she likes meeting new faces and also has an affinity for small animals. She at times will talk 'baby-talk' to them showing a very soft side of herself. If caught she tries to play it off, usually failing miserably, but she really does love furry little critters.

Plots:
To Dance or not to Dance:
Chia is very clumsy on her 'feet' as a foal, leading to some teasing from some of the other young ones. Despite this she continues to try and better herself and will practice alone. One day another foal spots her and though laughs at her 'form' wants to help her. This would start a bond with one outside of her born sisters. This foal could also be her partner in crime when she is feeling her sillier and mischievous self.

Part 2: Though she practiced her dancing away from the masses, so to speak, she still was clumsy. Dancing in itself just wasn’t her thing. She enjoyed it and loved the sound of the drums and music but it just didn’t fill her soul as she thought it should. One thing she enjoyed was sparring, honing her fighting skills though. One day she caught 2 of her older sisters(Huntresses perhaps) sparing and she makes the connection that it is like a valiant dance. With this realization she is able to gain a little more grace and hone her fighting skills, sparring with the older sisters and finding more 'opponents' to spar with. She desires to be as useful as can be and wants to be able to protect all she cares about with no doubts.

Finding where I belong:
Chia finds her 'groove' with dancing through honing her fighting skills, but she still has trouble finding where she truly belongs, a second home with in the Flock where she can truly contribute. From a foal though she has a hidden talent for creating things, tinkering as it were. She didn’t think much of her talent as a filly and kept it to herself until she was a young adult when one catches her(be it Mother or aunt or a sister of the flock-can determine this through more plotting). They encourage her to look more at the artisans and when she does she flourishes, specializing in making some trinkets and jewelry for the Flock members. She looses track of time at times when creating new bobbles and enhancing armor, she quickly becomes on of the best for embellishments on armor and more detailed pieces.

Any Additional Info:
Chia with her talent for making 'shinnies' also likes to collect and almost hoard many different types of trinkets. She is one to collect and wear her bobbles and show them off, but strangely enough she refuses to keep hardly any pieces she makes herself. In that sense she is vain and would rather see others wearing and showing off her work, she is very proud of her work and will not let something leave the workbench until she deems it perfect and can be very OCD about her craftsmanship.

Another quirk Chia has is her dislike of males, she just doesn’t care for them as a whole. She respects Taarab and her father most of all, but outside of them she doesn’t desire much to do with them. This may change as she gets older but even as a filly she just doesn’t have much interest in them. She has no qualms per say about when it comes to procreation and looks forward to bearing more children for the Flock and will do her duty as such but is kinda 'Meh' about the male prospect. She is never mean or cruel to males though and she can appreciate them and admire their grace, beauty, and strength and when it comes to doing the deed these are the things she will base her decision(s) upon.

RP Examples: Been rp'ing more on Discord lately but Ill find some links of some rps
(I have some more recent but I don’t have them saved and have to hunt them down xP)
1 2 3 4
Im also really slow with rp and mostly do BG and plots now as I have a 2 years old and a 2 month old so I don’t have a lot of time for rp, but through discord makes it better and easier at times and I really do enjoy it ^_^

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: I do not sad

Name of Child in Basket: Niyaki Earthstrike
[Name inspired by their father's]
Username: Malikztiah Ankhwave

About Child: Niyaki absolutely cannot hold a beat, or follow the rhythm of any music. Which is decidedly a Bad Thing when she hopes to be just like her mother and dance, or even maybe sing. As a foal she feels left out, shunted by this lack and has to find out something else to devote herself to with the flock. She's stubborn though, and determined to find something for her even if it isn't with music.

Plots: Ain't got no Rhythm - Niya, for the first time, discovers that no matter how she tries she cannot stick to the beat. Her first attempt- and the next few afterwards- to stick on beat and dance are disastrous. In her eyes, at least. She'll pull away from her sisters and their mother for a while, to not become jealous of what they can do that she can't. She will explore then her other options once the bitterness fades, because music isn't everything.

Calling - As she's a bit older, and less intimidated by the fact that music and dancing aren't for her, she takes to learning the Flock's history like a bird to flight. Especially the story of how her mother survived the Cataclysm. That nursemaid's bravery and sacrifice struck a chord in her that nothing else had. She desires to live up to the image of that first Risuleri, even if the idea of dying for another foal is a little frightening at first, she also feels a deep satisfaction with the idea. It only makes sense that she'd stand aside for another, younger life to flourish if she couldn't save the both of them.

Any Additional Info: She is fond of her father, and while he is not currently 'on duty' may spend time to visit the stallion. He was the first one she approached as a foal when she discovered that music and dance were never going to be her future- because he was less intimidating than her mother, or the other Dancers. She may or may not have picked up a few of his habits with vanity- first as a compensation for the fact that she's not cut out to dance or make music, but there's never anything wrong with letting herself leave an impression.

RP Examples: Alas, I have not been active on the rp front lately. I am hoping and determined to fix this however.

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: The flock has been a fascinating concept from day one, and I've wanted to try it out- just never felt 'right' about any of my others.

Name of Child in Basket: Olana Earthstrike
(Inspired by father and Hawaiian Aolani meaning "heavenly cloud" )
Username: Kyjoto

About Child: Olana is sweet and quiet at times and spontaneous at others. Highly optimistic, she always sets out to find joy in things. She sees the beauty in everything, especially her mother's and sister's dancing. While she enjoys dancing, she finds that she wants to stand out in other ways and to be recognized for more than just her physical skills.
Her love of food will set her on a fun and marvelous path, with lots of learning, experiences, and some mistakes. She always strives to do her best, and will learn how to deal with stress and the heartbreak of failure.

Plots:
-Dancing is great but.... Olana likes dancing of course, but she strives to be different and will spend time finding a passion. She'll be drawn to foraging, but will ultimately find the musical nature of cooking.
-A sense of smell and taste... Olana gives a go at foraging but finds she isn't all that great and tracking down the delicious morsels the forest and surrounding areas has to offer. Her sense of smell is strong enough however to understand how certain ingredients can go together to make a marvelous dinner.
-The flavors are musical! Olana learns more about cooking and how to season and prepare dishes. It's a magical experience for her as she journeys through spices, meats, vegetables, fruits and other glorious morsels.

Any Additional Info: I don't want to put tooo much because I'd still like to RP and flesh her out more.

RP Examples: I reply to RPs at least once weekly, sometimes more.
1, 2, 3
Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope, ONE DAY

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: I just started getting into herds, I just love the added lore and layers in each one. I also think it's awesome to have a community to RP with!

LadyPipen

PostPosted: Fri Feb 23, 2018 11:29 am

Name of Child in Basket: Iridea Earthstrike
Username: LadyPipen

About Child:
Iridea is a troublesome child- she's hardheaded, stubborn, and her heart is dead set on a job she's simply not particularly suited for. Raised as any foal on stories of adventure, wit and grandeur. She grew with a rather large head and only one goal in mind- and there lies her failings. She's simply not equipped to be a strong warrior- she lacks the strength needed for such a task, though she has the willpower and headstrong attitude, had she been born in a more capable body.

For most of her young life, she will struggle with this- elegant and sturdy though she may be, and clever may be her mind, she holds little regard for anything not a physical task- her goal is not to become an artisan, a nanny or forager nor any duty that would confine her to the safer areas of the herd. No, she desires the life of a guard, putting herself nobly between the dangerous, turbulent outside world and her homeland, keeping stallions and little ones alike safe, with little interest in any lesser job/

... Unfortunately, it will never be- Iridea is not cut out for the job. She can't keep up with the stronger fillies, no matter how hard she tries, and it causes a great rift in her sense of self confidence and self worth. It isn't until, by chance, she befriends one of the Sacred Mothers. Slowly and surely, Irie begins to find her own path- not following the hoofprints of any guard, but eased down the road to becoming a sacred sister by the mare she befriended, and she will grow out of the stubborn frustrations of her youth. As she finds her place in the Flock, Irie will never really lose her stubborn streak, but will grow into a caring, tender-hearted mare, even if she tends to lean too hard on the habit of 'tough love' and less on the ideal of empathy.

She will have good relationships with her father and mother both. She admires her mother for her grace and stability- the need and importance of protecting and caring for your family that Risuleri instills in her daughter is Iridea's original motivation for becoming a guard, though that goal ultimately fails. Though she loves and admires her mother to pieces, Irie's childhood fear will be disappointing Risuleri and not living up to her expectations, even if they are silly, imagined expectations. Your mother is a performer, not a guard, honey, it's fine. Her bond with Kalyana will be much more casual, though she recognizes and of course cares for her father, it is more of a friendship than a true parental bond, though she learns a special love of dance and pride in her appearance from her time with her father, and I imagine the pair have a healthy relationship, bonding over the(In Irie's mind, silly and a decent time-wasting) pursuit of beauty.

Plots:
(To be fair I'm still new to gaia and not used to pre-making plots so bear with me, please! I don't wanna include too much since I'm usually influenced by what happens in RP and I... Don't wanna plot too much in case I don't get her. Don't wanna get attached until after I'm picked, if I am so lucky!)

Matron Mother - While she's still growing into her own, Irie incidently makes friends with a Sacred Mother who, ultimately, sets her on the path of her life-long career of learning as a Sacred Sister and, possibly one day, become a Sacred Mother herself.

Sibling Rivalry - Iridea is not as musically inclined as her sisters, but genetics are genetics- though her heart was never into performance, Irie was always a fair dancer and singer, though she does not practice the talents outside of simple hobbies, putting her forever behind her sisters in skill... Though that doesn't stop a naturally stubborn, aggressive filly from sparking some friendly competition, anyway! Whether it continues into adulthood, sputters out as the girls grow, or causes rifts between the girls as they grow is entirely up to RP.

Any Additional Info:
She'll have a love for music and beauty, but due to the fact she latches onto adventure from a young age, dance, music, vanity.... They're all just hobbies to her, and anyone who puts too much stock into them... Well, yes, they're fun, but you need a REAL job too, you know! We can't all be so lucky as to waste our time all day...

She might grow to be a little jealous of her sisters, growing into great artisans... Due to the fact that she views artistic pursuits as frivolous. Perhaps one day, after she grows up into a position of Sacred Sister, she might regret not opening her mind to alternative pursuits when she was younger... Though it will never develop into anything more than a 'what if' to dwell on when she's bored or lonely, and she will be happy and content with where her life has taken her.

I'm hesitant to put out too many plots out because I just know I'll get attached to the idea- but the idea of her growing up and becoming either mother or mentor figure to another plucky, hard-headed young thing is both tempting and provides a lot of opportunity for some heartwarming stories.

RP Examples:
I will simply link a pair of older threads from another site- I couldn't pick a single post that I liked ;w ;
X - I play Annie Alden here
X - and Hunter Blackwood here

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope! Though I admit it'd be fun to do xD

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: WHOO BOY well the culture is fantastic, lemme tell you- I absolutely love it. True to the idea of amazon women without the cruelty that COULD be there. It'd be a perfect place to start in soquili, I'm just fascinated by the idea of the herd, their lore and culture and the characters in it that I've seen thus far! I'd love to participate, basically <3

Name of Child in Basket: Kalani Earthstrike
[Named for the father as well as Sanskrit for "of the heavens"]
Username: medigel

About Child: Her sisters may dance and sing, but Kalani seems to live as though there's always music playing. Her steps are light, her posture swaying, and a humming sound isn't uncommon while she's around. Despite this, her passion doesn't lie in the cultural cornerstone, though she happily participates: no, she sees into the music of things living and non-living, believing that there's a melody to life if you sit and listen long enough. And that tune is more important than you think.

Kalani inherited some of her father's more flirtatious and casual manner of socializing, but beneath it all she's, well...afraid of seeming plain compared to her sisters, physically and metaphorically. She's afraid of being inferior in any way but doesn't have the drive to really try to change it, so she has a tendency to get mired in a victim complex. Not that Kalani would be one to share it so quickly: it's all about appearances, after all. And how could anyone with beautiful, amazing parents such as herself have any problems whatsoever? She'll crack if stressed but for the most part tries to seem as confident as the rest of her family, even though in reality she's more mild-mannered.

(Earthstriker means something, doesn't it? Live up to it.)

The story of her how her mother and uncle lived through an earthquake resonates with her. Kalani wants to be just as important, or at least distinguished, but it's a private pipe dream; maybe it's a selfish wish she has to get over, like a personal test of character.

Her worst flaw is envy by far: someone always has better jewelry, or their life seems more put together, or they're just...happier than her. Gossip becomes one of her favorite things to engage in, even though she can feel guilty. And maybe she likes drama and little pranks just a bit too much. It just means she's that much fiercer when it comes to defending her friends and family should said drama head their way.

In short: messy interior leads to messy feelings leads to how the heck do I fit in? Partially due to how she is and partially because rp would be required to help her determine her strengths more. Seemingly okay on the outside, but it's a fragile illusion. She retreats to music when all else fails.

Plots:

Like Mother, Like...: Kalani finds herself in the midst of a natural disaster of her own: maybe another earthquake, or something a little more mundane but no less dangerous such as a mudslide. Unfortunately, she doesn't get the miracle her mother does and ends up needing extra assistance. This causes her to reflect on whether it's an omen or a sign. Alternatively, she's part of or witnesses this happen to someone else, with her engagement possibly helping her bond with someone else over a freak accident. Depending on the accident, she might come to fear being even a tiny bit away from home.

Clay in Her Claws: Due to her doubts and insecurities, it'd be very easy for someone to take advantage of her. Kalani could become an acolyte under someone who'd happily use her as a pawn, or her mentor would be able to get her out of that uncertain rut. Either way, she'd still have to deal with the issue of not being able to take leadership herself.

Not All That Glitters: Kalani encounters a male as an adult that she really, really wants to take back, but something comes up: perhaps he's vehemently against it or is dangerous himself. Doctrine states you can't take unwilling males, but what if she really wants the trophy to prove herself for once? Additionally, perhaps attempting some work in the guild leads her to palming something to try and pass it off as her own (frustrated as she is that she's not as good), and she's caught.

Any Additional Info: Her sensitivity could lead her towards one of two paths depending, imo:

1) Artisan - Feng Shui style specifically. It's not just about getting the goods, it's about honoring their purposes and making sure that their energies match yours. Could also extend to helping Flock members wear the correct things the right way to best accentuate their "aura".

2) Seer Acolyte (if allowed) - To see the connections of things could lead Kalani towards this if pushed. Discord in the melody of the wind could foretell strong storms and such. It'd also help her feel "special".

Or if neither of those work, she could join her sister in the theater!

Other ideas: preen/clean and whine sessions with Dad when he's available. DANCE OFFS. Interior decorating the den when Risuleri and Vanya are away, for better or for worse. (No I promise it looks better this way no wait put that back--)

RP Examples: I haven't here in a long time, but I'd like to get back into it. So, have a few old ones: [x] [x] [x]

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: The best way to get back into rping at a place is to get into something established, I find. The Flock is incredibly detailed and provides the sort of rp fodder necessary to jump-start the muse. Plus, a whole discord I can keep track of? YES PLS.

Name of Child in Basket: Akeyla Earthstrike
[ Akeyla's Origin is Arabic and means: Honest; Responsible ]

Username: Kara Asumie

About Child: As a foal this little girl is a very noisy, energetic, and cheerful to the point of being rowdy. Her boisterous nature and crazy shenanigans can attract unwanted attention quite easily, which often goes badly for her. Although she hardly ever worries about the consequences of her actions. She is surprisingly considerate of her friends' and family's feelings and insecurities. She has a quirky habit of spontaneously coming up with ridiculous names for fighting moves. There are times when she can be extremely impatient, excitable and impulsive. She is also unexpectedly shy when it comes to talking to those outside of the family. The shyness is something she might grow out of when older. While learning the rules of The Flock she holds them as if they are laws of the heavens.

As a young adult Akeyla keeps her energetic and cheerfulness but the rowdiness fades. Her grace is her strong point and she loves to dance but also likes fighting because to her it is like a form of dance. She is still boisterous in nature but the crazy shenanigans is something she grows out of. Although she is still very shy of those outside of The Flock, she is outgoing within it. She wishes to become a dance teacher or maybe an oracle if she is lucky enough to be bless by the great mother in becoming one. So she will start with her strengths and work from there. Knowing how to fight and wouldn't mind becoming a guard either she likes to keep her mind open no matter what her heart it set on.

There is one thing that she knows her heart will forever be locked on is that even if she becomes allowed to travel. She will never leave The Flock. And won't ever travel too far from it. Maybe only to look for a male in the future if need be but The Flock is her life and she will give it her life in whole.

Plots:
Finding My Heart's Song
Akeyla wants to find a song from her heart that flows through her body in order to find her own dance. This is something that will happen in her foal years and it what makes her find her love of dance that overpowers her bad happens that helps shape her.

Looking to Add to the Pool
Akeyla believes that to avoid some illnesses that the breeding pool needs to either change or add more blood to it in order to keep the offspring healthy. So she would love to try to go out and find a stallion to bring back just to say that she can.

First Time
This is just her being scared of letting a stallion touch her. And what is being looked for in this plot is not a "get it on thing" but a need of another mare with the stallion she breed with or just a mare or just a stallion to talk to Akeyla and insure her that the first time isn't as scary as she thinks it is. Nothing more.

Finding My Place
This is where she finds her forever job within The Flock.

Any Additional Info:
Along with wishing to become one of the following A Dance Teacher, An Oracle, and A Guard. Akeyla would love to travel to find more males for The Flock so that the gene pool stays at a size to keep some illness and such away.

Name of Child in Basket: Tonalli Earthstrike
Username: elfstar89

About Child: Tonalli moves her life to the beat of the drum, and that drum is sometimes her own! Relaxed and sometimes off in her own world, she wants to become a musician, playing a drum and singing, though she does also take dance lessons. Tonalli does enjoy dancing, she just prefers making music, and privately feels that she isn't the dancer that some of the mares around her are. Anything her sisters want her for, Tonalli will happily offer to play for, but she'll be reluctant to dance, unless it's insisted upon.

Plots: Tonalli is actually a good dancer, despite her anxieties about her own talent, underneath which is a very real insecurity about her looks. The other dancers around her are talented and look so glamorous, she feels she couldn't possibly try to stand on the same stage as they do.

- Inner Beat: Tonalli develops some of her own tunes, as expected, but proves surprisingly difficult about how others dance to her drums. When asked what she really expects, she bangs out a dance of her own devising, which, while not legendary, is still novel and fascinating to watch on a technical level. Embarrassed by what she thinks is an unattractive performance, she retreats back to her singing and drumming.

- Surprise Demonstration: Since her dance was absolutely not as bad as she thought it was, someone asks her to share her dance again, hoping to try to show Tonalli that she was a good and versatile performer, and that she is also a reasonably advanced dancer. Nervous about showing off, she chokes up, trying to politely back out of what feels like being pushed into a situation for mockery or negative criticism.

- A Word to the Wise: Someone notices how Tonalli felt, and approaches her, pointing out that beauty isn't that big a deal in dance. Surprised, she listens to some sage words or a good fable that encourages her to give her dance a second shot, to try sharing it with those around her, and embracing her own talents enough to be willing to be a dancer whenever they need her.

Any Additional Info: Tonalli is quite relaxed around the dudes. If a stallion needs someone to hang with, she's happy to do so, just as much as for her sisters. She respects the rules of the Flock, but otherwise doesn't really emotionally differentiate her feelings between the genders.

Bright colors! Tonalli loves them, whether as feathers, scales, beads, or gems. Possibly stemming from her insecurities, though also fueled by a genuine delight, she loves to decorate herself in bright colors whenever she can.

RP Examples: Nothing terribly recent, though at worst I'm an enthusiastic plotter. I do love RP and worldbuilding.

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: I thought the Flock was an interesting idea when it first started, I just didn't have any gryphs or other Soq who felt right to pitch for the Flock. Reading about the herd in detail now, I absolutely love where it's gone, and hope that, even if I don't win here, I'll eventually get the right Soq to toss at the Flock. 8'D

Name of Child in Basket: Teru Earthstrike
Username: Kaya Wolf Moon

About Child: Teru is a very naïve and kind individual. She will go out of her way to help almost any individual she sees in trouble, tending to overlook any danger to herself. Her belief is that all are worthwhile save for the purely evil ones, as all have the potential to become great. She recognizes that her loving nature might one day cause her strife but she prefers to concern herself with more pressing matters than to think on the “what-ifs” and “may-bes.”

In addition to this, Teru can act very childish and rash at times. She is a very straightforward mare who is prone to outbursts of emotion. Such a nature finds Teru often taking action before thinking. Whether it is a perceived injustice, a dire accident, or a mere disagreement, one can be certain that she will leap into the fray to defend the wronged. All the while making her beliefs and opinions on the matter known.

Teru is mostly recognized for her high level of energy, boisterous demeanor, and optimism. She gets into anything and everything with no signs of slowing down anytime soon…much to the chagrin of some of the more wisened Flock members. Despite that, and above everything else, Teru prides herself on the ability to find the silver-lining in any circumstance. It is perhaps this attitude that has helped her conquer her greatest shame- blindness. Where others might give up on their duty and dreams, Teru has honed her skills to make one of her greatest weaknesses into one of her utmost advantages.

Plots:
1. The Flock- Pretty much what it sounds like. Teru is born and raised in the loving care of the Flock. She learns of her heritage, what it means to be a Harpy, and confronts the various aspects of growing up within a matriarchal herd.
2. You Can’t Take the Sky From Me- Teru encounters her greatest shame as a Harpy. What started out as an accident, turns into something much more lasting and potentially detrimental. The young foal must come to terms with the loss of her sight and figure out a way to overcome it or risk never reaching her true potential.
3. Where There’s a Will- After her initial struggle with her supposed handicap, Teru is determined to be like any other Flock member. Eyesight is only one of the many senses open to her. It is simply a matter of honing her other senses to make up for the one she lacks.
4. I Know What You Are- An outsider stumbles upon Teru while she is in the midst of her self-training. Unlike most, this one doesn’t seem aware of her and the herd's boundaries. This strikes Teru as odd and she finds herself curious about the stranger. Perhaps there is more to them than meets the senses.

Any Additional Info: Due to her lack of sight, Teru uses her other senses to create a mental image of the world around her. Things such as air flow, vibrations in the earth, and scents drifting on the wind give her a rich tapestry with which to build her surroundings in her mind's eye. Teru expresses herself through song, dance, and stage fighting. She chose the last of the trio as a way to demonstrate her elegance in battle despite her perceived handicap.

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: I've always enjoyed the concept of the Flock. It is an interesting dynamic that flips the script on patriarchy and typical gender roles.

Name of Child in Basket: Asa Earthstrike (Asa means "Healer" in Hebrew)
Username: Jackariah Beckett

About Child: Asa is very much at home in the Harpy lands and has never felt the call to wander elsewhere. She is headstrong and if she feels it is a detriment to you or someone else's safety, she will firmly tell you the 'right' way. She cherishes her family and does occasionally enjoy spending time with her father, though she respects the rules of the herd and knows he has important duties of his own. Being part kirin she believes in healing and tries to find ways she can help others.

I plan on having her help pregnant mares during labor for the first part of her adulthood. IF she gets her mothers tail, she can help them by fanning them with air. If not, if she gets her mothers claws I will have her commission someone to make a fan(s) she can use with her claws. And if she doesn't inherit those, I will still have someone commission her some fans, but ones she can slip over her hooves or in her mouth lol. She likes to believe certain stones have healing powers and that they may help relieve some pains from labor. If the stones do not help she is very adept at soothing others with her calm and smooth as honey voice. Some in the herd of ventured to jest that her voice is wasted being used on labors where hardly anyone would hear them. She would just laugh with them and remind them of how much their mothers screamed in pain during their birth before she became a helper and watch their smug smiles fade as they walk away. She has little patience for a** holes. She does however join in singing on stage from time to time, its just helping mares is more important to her than being a good performer.

Plots:

~I would like for her to be trained as a Sacred Mother.

~ I would like her to have someone who can teach her about the power of stones

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: No. I once tried to have my co-owned mare Mohana be part of the flock but it ended up feeling forced and not really right for her. I am hoping this will feel more natural<3

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: I adore the colors. Honestly I love the possibilities of them. The rich culture and mythos.

Name of Child in Basket: Ruya Earthstrike
Username: Lunadriel

About Child: Ruya means "vision, sight" in Arabic. Or "dream" in Turkish.

As a child, Ruya gives her flock mates much to consider. Despite her mother's pride and precision in choosing a mate for her children, Ruya challenges everything her mother hoped for in offspring. Ruya wants to be good, and find a quiet place in Crafters Hollow to make her mark in The Flock. Everything is wonderful to her and she loves her home! However, there are times where Ruya blacks out and makes a mess of things. Especially with art. Ruya is reserved when not learning, trying to not disappoint those around her. Lest she ruins someone's art, draw on the walls, or destroy the peace of their day to day life with one of her episodes. Ruya is extremely hard on herself. If only growing up was easier! She tries to apply herself to everything she's taught. Dance, she'll do it. Crafting, she'll do it. Art? She does it even when she doesn't want to... And remembers NOTHING afterward! Growing pains for this filly, manifest in art blackouts and night terrors. Trying so hard to suppress her tendencies herself, will have people thinking she has split personalities when she can't control herself, She will be so calm and reserved any other time, that her outbursts seem like they are the actions of another child. She will do what she can to try and make penance for her episodes after she has them. Ruya will devote herself to a purpose when she sets her mind to it, even if the actions are often to pay for her actions.

Plots: Spoilerd for size.

Outburst: Ruya is with her siblings, being introduced to some of the different artworks of the flock inside their dwelling. Ruya walks closer to take a look, only to pick up the paint and start painting on someone ELSES work. When told to stop, she paints more furiously, quickly, to try and finish what she started. By the end, her brush is taken from her. The original art is no longer a pretty picture with tea stains, but now a mad streak of dripping paint. Ruya is VERY confused about the events and what happened, remembering nothing. If she's accused of lying, it will break her heart. What else could it be?

So She Likes Art: As a means to try and focus her energies, she is allowed to paint. Feeling this is what Ruya must enjoy after her previous event. Ruya is embarrassed and shy though and refuses to touch the canvas. The paints hang emotion over her that she places next to fear. She didn’t want to get in trouble, even if she was being encouraged to embrace her talent. The colors are pretty though… Ruya takes one of the colors she likes the most, thinking no one saw her take it.

The Night-Mare: Ruya takes to collecting paints even though she doesn’t use them. One night, she wakes screaming and grabs her paint. She splashes one on the wall (and likely hits any of her nest mates). She scrapes and moves the paint around with her claw. When someone tries to console her, and move her away, she takes to painting on herself. Eventually, she is calmed and Ruya is VERY confused as to why she is covered in paint.

Day-nightmares: Sometimes even though things seem normal in Ruya’s world, she still slips into her moments. Things can trigger her into episodes that other times do not. There is suspect that she might have split personalities. Though, something with that assumption doesn’t quite fit.

Growing Pains: Even without her paints, Ruya is plagued with nights where she wakes up shouting or looking at things that aren’t there. Sometimes, she still manages to grab things and phantom paint on the walls. She’ll scrape sticks on the wall till they are worn down to a nub. Normally it takes being talked to or given tea to snap her out of it and get her back to sleep. Sometimes, she laughs at the stories she’s told of her wake-night-mares, thinking it must be a joke (drawing on walls with sticks does sound pretty funny). Other times, she just goes in a fog, not knowing how to catalog the information for the things she doesn’t remember. It's scary and confusing, so she goes numb and blanks on the topic. Her outbursts during the day, she gets apologetic because she can see the results. At night, she goes back to sleep, and the events become more like a dream she never had.

Can’t Stop the Art: Ruya gets enlightenment while eating berries one day after they stain her claw. She takes to collecting all sorts of things to use and make paints of her own. She takes to testing them out of curiosity. She finds herself painting, without the violent strokes of her outbursts. It’s a peaceful feeling and calming. For days after, she has no trouble sleeping, and no day-mares. When she doesn't paint, the episodes return. With the help of some of her peers around her, the connection is made that art isn’t the cause of the outbursts, but the lack thereof!

Expression: Ruya disciplines herself to paint every few days. Sometimes it feels more like a chore, and the art is choppy and rough. Other times, it’s like a physical relief, and the paintings are vivid and loud. Some of the art that Ruya does invokes weird emotions in her. She takes to hiding these pieces of art out of fear, not wanting people to look at them and judge her. (Even though they wouldn't do this, it's another fear she conjures up not understanding the emotions she has.)

Booze: As Ruya gets older, she’ll find that drinking eliminates the need for painting, by stopping the nightmares, and the outbursts. This will be a hard time for her as she disobeys all reasonable teachings, and becomes a bit of a lush. The need to be respectable and a model member for family, no longer something she cares about. If you need to find Ruya, she's hanging out with whoever will indulge her drinking habits!

The Calling: Ruya will mature against all odds. Drinking becomes mundane and boring. One night, when only slightly inebriated, she feels nostalgic and pulls out all the old art she hid away. While looking at the dirty canvases and parchments, she will feel a sickening feeling. She will realize it can’t be from drinking and try to reflect on why she might feel this way. Shuffling through the pictures one by one, she stops on one that looks different. Going back to another, she gets the same feeling. The emotions that seemed odd to her before, speak to her as if being finally heard by ears that don't fear. Shaking off the dust on one of the pictures, she dips a claw in her drink and uses it to outline a figure in her picture. The figure is a shape familiar to her. What she sees is a portrait of herself, wasting away with her spirits. Reflecting on the painting, she sees what her life will be should she not change. (This is what she sees in a painting from the past. She sees the future she now lives. No powers here, only a mare that believes in what her mind sees.)

Revisiting an Old Friend: Ruya picks up a paintbrush again and focuses on the emotion. Instead of letting the sensation explode from her claw onto the canvas, she tries to lock it in her mind. Painting with hesitating strokes at first, onto the soothing strokes that she had felt before. The picture in her mind pushes against her and she embraces it without fear. (She paints her mother.)

The Picture: Ruya takes her captured picture, and gifts it to her mother. She apologizes for all the trouble she’s caused her over the course of her foalhood. The painting will be abstract and reflect movement and dance with a sense of relief. This will be where she realizes, her art holds meaning. She will tell her mother how she will dance beautifully the next time she dances, and how she dreamed of it while painting this for her. (Risuleri can interpret the painting and her daughter's words how she feels.)

The Choice: Ruya doesn’t quite understand the way art talks to her. Knowing of Seer’s in the flock, and oracles, she realizes her studies to be one should have started much sooner. She will try to keep things the way they are unless encouraged to do otherwise. She will embrace painting for those around her, and give small fortunes/words of encouragement about what she sees when she paints.

The Passion: Painting for others, and giving pictures of events she sees in her mind gives her a new passion. She finds enjoyment in interacting with others. When she meets someone new, she feels inspired to paint for them.

The Medium Becomes Spirit: With time, age, or study, Ruya will be able to apply herself and her minds eye, without art. Her art not being one that has to be tangible. It can be words that are her art, expressing what she sees even when she can't paint. She lives to touch others and connect with them. Ruya wants to bless others and help them in any way she can.

Optional Plot: I'd like for her to have someone in the flock that can't stand her unpredictable behaviors. Not that they will hate her, but understandably have issues with her. Someone that she can work towards understanding her later in life, and possibly working things out when she's mature.

Any Additional Info: I'm eager to plot with the Flock and see how Ruya can fit the needs of those around her. If she is meant to be a Seer, let's plot to make it happen! If not, she can be a fortune telling painter. Of course, no real powers here, and within Soquili rules. I'm open to letting Ruya's plots mold into a Seer a little earlier on, should she have someone that can peg what ails her before she does. I'm also okay with her ignoring the calling, and doing what she pleases with her muses art wise.

The mare in the tide

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope! I have always wanted a female character in the flock. I've always thought there were many male hooved characters already and didn't want to join with a male that would just sit there. If I had a clawed male, I'd be ON IT so quick!! I know the flock isn't only claws, but it's just what I'd like to have if it was a male. Or at least a feathered male! =3

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: Risuleri has always been one of my favorite Mind-flock ponies both in character and design. *_* I’ve always loved harpies and the world that everyone built around them: the story, the characters, and the lore especially. I tried to make my own flock, and it would be nothing without the help of Mind! I’ve since been looking to have plots in this flock to have characters from both sides of the playing field. Plus, I believe this flocks members and activity to be strong. Also, I will NEVER be moving this mare out of the flock. She will love her family far too much to leave, and never be one to explore much. It's not her calling. (I do hope to one day get one of Edana's daughters in The Flock, but that's in the future! She will feel more like she belongs there, but that will create conflict should she ever return home.... She has a planned breeding too.)

Wasteland Wyvern

Dangerous Demigod

PostPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2018 8:46 am

Name of Child in Basket: Neema Earthstrike (Neema is the Swahili word for Grace)
Username: Wasteland Wyvern

About Child: Neema is a very unique girl. She’s more often than not a silent watcher in the corner taking in any and all info she can get. This is how this unusual mare learns, how she hopes to further herself. However no matter how she reaches and strives she can be good at a subject but she can never fully master it. So more often than not Neema can seem to be just floating through life doing nothing than can help the Flock in any great matter, however the mare may not be a master at things this doesn’t mean she’s a slouch either. She can make charming trinkets, sing nicely if not as good as others, dance acceptably, and she’s not too bad at luring in new males either. wink
It does weigh on her and she does occasionally go into a bad mood where she feels she is a burden upon her sisters, though she tends to keep these feelings locked deep within herself. This will eventually be a problem for her as bottled emotions can find a way out when they are least expected.

Plots:

1.) Early Life and Learning: Just any basic plot/rp I can get of her early life in the Flock learning with her sisters, along with some turmoil when she needs to decide a role that fits her.

2.) Like a Songbird: This is when she works out singing and finds a love for it, despite her voice never being perfect, she still enjoys little tunes in her free times.

3.) Bling, Bling: She accidentally makes a little trinket out of a shiny rock and some twine, a simply necklace that she keeps for herself forever. Something she’s proud of and no one can take away from her.

4.) A Strange Male: While out and about in her early teens she comes across a male, his bright colors attracting her vision to him, and she begins a hunt to figure out who he is and what he’s doing here. This male, named Fynn, will feature often in her plots and life and she’ll eventually capture him he will be added to the Flock as a Whistle stallion once he is sufficiently calmed down.

5.) A Strange Attraction: Fynn is fascinating to her, and while she knows its against the rules she can’t help but follow him about everywhere and the cocky stallion takes every advantage to play with the foolish young girls feelings and mess with her head.

6.) Help Me: After Fynn plays a particularly nasty trick on her and nearly convinces her to leave the Flock and run away with him she seeks out her father and decides to learn the ways of stallions and seek his advice on what to do about Fynn.

7.) Revelations: After a talk with her father about Fynn she feels more confirmed in her beliefs that the Flock is her life and she isn’t going anywhere. This plot will also be her deciding that Fynn needs to be taught a lesson and makes it one of her life’s goals to collar that stallion and bring him home to the Flock.

8.) Early Adult Life and Learning: Some more basic plots as the young filly grows into adulthood and becomes a lovely mare.

9.) The Stigma: This is where she discovers her learning disability. The lack of being able to master anything and it weighs on her, dousing her good moods and making her into a bit of a grump, for a time at least…

10.) Choosing a Path: This is her exploring her options for her role in the flock and will be a big decision so she will not take it lightly.

And many more… I’ve got far too many plots for this darling girl and don’t want to clog up the plot post. xD

Any Additional Info: Neema is based heavily on the old saying “Jack of All Trades, Master of None”. She is able to do just about anything but master them? Absolutely not...

RP Examples: If I am honest I don’t much RP anymore so all my examples would be woefully out of date. Life has gotten the better of me on that front but I am up for plotting at anytime.

Do you own any Males in the Flock (and if so how many/who)?: Nope.

Why do you want to Join the Flock?: The Flock has always been fascinating to me. The strong female overtones with the rich culture, its something amazing and wonderful and I’ve been itching to find a girl or boy to fit it but have as of yet failed.
Never hurts to keep trying though!
