The waters of the ocean were calm on this day. Two shapes swam side by side for a while before the one with a purple hue to his body pulled away from the other. There was a small feeling of exasperation in Fanaqua's mind. He and his brother had had a small spat before setting out and although they were still swimming together the silence between them was beginning to get to him. Flipping his fins the mer returned to his brother's side. Being the eldest by only a few minutes meant sometimes he had to swallow his pride in order to calm ruffled fins. "Look Yuki, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said. Can you forgive me and put this fight behind us?"

He looks at his brother as he then looked away. Oddly enough he wasn't thinking about the fight. After all he would pick them just to pick them. He didn't really have a reason behind the fights besides the fact that he never knew what to talk about to his brother anymore now that they are older. They aren't the fun chasing youngsters they once were so it was getting harder and harder to talk seeing they didn't have a lot in common these days or at least that is what it seemed like to him. "It doesn't really matter does it. I mean you can't change the fact that you said it." He points out to his older brother as Yukine swims.

Fanaqua stopped swimming and watched as his brother pulled away from him. The words that had just been spoke pierced something deep inside. He had apologized. Couldn't his twin just be gracious and accept the apology that he had given? No, it seemed that Yuki just had to continue being difficult. Fanaqua put on a small burst of speed to catch up to his younger sibling. He would not show how upset he was. He would never hear the end of it if he let Yuki glimpse how easily his barb had struck home.
"You are right. I cannot change the fact that I said something I shouldn't have."
Fanaqua paused to view the surrounding water around them. Why did nothing look the same through his eyes now? Had he truly changed so much from when he was a younger Mer? Shaking his head Fanaqua realized that things were not going to remain the same between himself and Yuki.

Yukine looks over at his brother. He pauses in the water. Not moving forward as he stays still by only fluttering his fins. "What is going on in that mind of yours?" He knows his brother well enough to know when something was on his mind. There wasn't any harm in asking was there or at least that is what he thought for the moment. His eyes look to where his brother is looking and then back to his brother. "It was a lotta fun when we were younger wasn't it?" He adds.

Fanaqua merely nodded in response to Yuki's question. In their younger years they had been nearly inseparable. Having that special connection that twins often did had been great. The connection was still there but now their own personalities had taken over the brotherly and twin bond. Fanaqua wasn't sure if he truly liked the change or not.
"I think that perhaps now is the time that we might have to journey out on our own Yukine. We keep goading each other into silly arguments. We are old enough to look out for ourselves. What do you think Yuki?"
The mer rolled seamlessly around in the water as he awaited his brother's decision on his proposition. He thought it was a good idea.

Knowing that they needed a break from each other was all good and all. But going their separate ways was another thing in it's own. He wasn't sure if he looked that ideal at all. Sighing as he thinks it over. He had to admit that growing apart from his twin scares him and he doesn't like it. Maybe that is why he has stayed the unruly wild spirit he has always been.. Although it is true. They aren't fully who they once were. Maybe time apart would make their bond grow even stronger then it once was.
"I can't say I like the ideal of parting. You are not only my brother but a part of who I am. It has always been that way. For me at least. We are twins and the fact our bond isn't as it once was. Well it scares me. I don't mean to pick so many fights. I just speak before I think." Sighing more as he looks at his brother. "Maybe a break from each other is needed. But I would hate it to be long term or forever. Even if our bond breaks you are still a part of who I am."

Fanaqua recoiled a little bit at the thought of being forever separated from Yukine. The mer's tail swished through the water effortlessly as he swam closer to his twin. He had said nothing about the time apart being forever. Where had Yuki gotten that assumption? Fanaqua's expression was that of extreme horror at first before he calmed down enough to address his brother. He needed to keep his wits about him as he spoke.
"Whoa. Hold on. I just said time apart. I didn't mean we'd be forever separated. I think I like that idea less than you if it is at all possible."
Fanaqua sighed before continuing, "If only we could foresee what the future held for us. But your words are how I feel too. You'll always be a part of me."

Listening to his brother's words and how they both felt the same about being part of one another. He smiles a bit. "So what are you thinking about with this time apart?" It isn't like they would be away from each other long. After all they are twins and twins just don't leave the other. They are there for each other even at times when they don't even wanna be. Letting out a sigh.
"I am willing to take a break. Maybe while we do that then we can meet new people and things. Might find familiar friends to keep us company. Or something like that." He points out as he is still not sure about this idea. He has never been without his brother before so this is kinda scary though he isn't going to admit that out loud.

Fanaqua hovered in the water before Yukine listening to him speak. He had to admit to himself that he was thinking along the same lines. It would be a good idea to be able to make some new friendships with other Soquili. Whether they be land-based or not. Fanaqua swallowed nervously as he swam nearer to Yukine.
"I think you have a point on what we can do with our time apart. However do you think that it would be wise to prearrange a meeting place and time in which we agree to meet up again and compare stories?"
The mer stallion glanced around the place that he and Yukine had called home for the longest time. It had always just been the two of them. Now there was a little bit of apprehension at the thought of leaving his brother, even for a short period of time. But he had made the idea vocal and he would see it through.

Nodding as he watches his brother. "That sounds like a great idea. Then we can share what we have learned. Should we make rules in order to make sure that we both stay safe?" He wonders as he knows that if danger came to one of them then they wouldn't be able to meet up at said time and date. He floats in place as he watches his brother more waiting to hear just what his brother will say to the safe thing. Yukine thinks it is a great idea but he could be wrong.

Fanaqua wrinkled his nose at the thought of rules in order to stay safe. If they set rules out then what would the point of this venture be? Fanaqua though appeared to think about his response for a few minutes though just in order to give the facade that he was debating the question seriously. Slowly he sighed before replying, "I don't think that it is a good idea to set rules Yuki. If we set rules on how to go about our journey we will never experience what it is we are trying to learn. However that being said I think simple precautionary measures should be applied in any new situation we find ourselves in. I mean we shouldn't take any undue risks by looking for trouble. We should just be able to enjoy ourselves ... right?"

Thinking on it as he looks at his brother more. "You have a point but I think that at least one rule would be good. And that rule should be avoid danger." He points out after all rules are set in stone in his book. Though he is unruly and hates to be controlled in any way, shape, or form. So rules are something he would break a lot. But the avoid danger rule is the only known rule he has ever followed in his life. So that is the only rule he will ever follow for the rest of his life as well. "We have never been apart so this is a bit scary but sounds so fun. Though I will miss you. Promise me if you meet a lover that you send word to me and I will do the same."

Fanaqua would have rolled his eyes at Yukine's suggestion to avoid danger but he contained the urge to do so in front of his twin. Doing that would only irritate Yuki more. He had always been the one to steer clear of danger. Why would he actively seek it out? However saying nothing and doing nothing would be better. Instead he swam a little distance away before bobbing silently and listening to Yukine's last suggestion. That idea had a little more merit but Fanaqua wasn't sure how serious he'd be about sending word.
"Hmm, that sounds like two good ideas brother. Which direction do you think you wish to travel in? I think I want to go in a northern direction."
Fanaqua's purple hues darkened as the light from above shifted to a darker color as he waited for Yuki to answer.

Thinking on what his brother said as he smiles. "I am going to head towards land. I am interested in seeing the land Soquili. I am tired of hearing the stories. I wanna see for myself. But I know to stay in deep water that connects to the ocean so I always have a safe path home." He points out as he thinks about another thing. "Oh just how are we going to get word to the other if something interesting happens like finding a lover or something?" Pondering on it as he looks at his brother. Smirking as he laughs. "Never mind we can figure that out as we go. Have fun on your travels dear brother. I look forward to our meeting in the future. I can't wait to see how our travels change us."
That was something that was going to be the high light of this all. The way their travels will change them and make them no longer who they are at this very moment. Looking up at the water's surface. "Change.. That is the thing I fear the most and now I am swimming towards it freely." Snickering as he takes in a deep breath and lets it out slowly. Just what is going to happen now that they are going on travels that will take them farther apart from each other then they have ever been in their lives so far. Oh just what awaited him out in the world and why is it that he wants to see the land creatures. It is almost like the land is calling out to him in more ways then one. Like he is jealous of it somehow. The plants he has heard of. The sun. Rainbows. All the different things above the water.
Sighing as he looks back at his brother and smiles. Not being able to hide his unsure face about this though he is trying to hide it. These thoughts just make him unsure about all of this. He might be an unruly free spirit at times but change is something that he really did dislike. His eyes slowly move to the water's surface above them as the light shines through it gets darker. Just how does that light look above the water's surface. Was it something wonderful or something annoying. Maybe it was both. Sighing as he then closes his eyes as he takes in everything. The thoughts about the surface and land. All that walks the lands that the waters surround. Maybe he is just overwhelming himself. Yea that was it. He is just overwhelming himself wanting to know if all the stories he has heard are real or if they are just made up.

Without realizing it Fanaqua had rolled his eyes at Yuki's suggestion of finding a lover. It was a typical harmless comment but to Fanaqua it was a lingering doubt that he'd never find someone to care for. The mer stallion sighed and merely nodded though in reply to his brother's comments. So Yuki would head inland while he would explore the deeper depths of the ocean. What mysteries would they uncover?
Fanaqua watched as Yuki swam away from him. A pang of sadness washed over him and he almost called out for his twin to wait for him. That would never do though. With a practiced motion Fanaqua rolled in the water and started the smooth rocking motion that would carry him further from the only family he had known for a long while. As he swam away he whispered a parting to his brother, knowing that he'd not hear it, but it didn't stop him.
"Stay safe my brother until we meet again. Please stay safe."
Kara Asumie tag. Could we call this finished?
