EVENT SETTING
You must go to Shinjuku to complete your task! The dragon god transports you all to the edge of the border with a vague wave of his hand and the sudden feeling of reality distorting.
Shinjuku is a busy, bustling luxury hotel, shopping, and food area where residents often gather to enjoy themselves. Over time it has been converted into two sections: futuristic areas for everyday shopping and crowded night markets sporting several street-side food stands and specialty shops. These night markets often have many stores a varied ethnic origins / cultures from around the world, mixed in with modern dollarstores / electronics stalls / etc.
You'll have to navigate the crowded streets of Shinjuku to complete your task (all of Shinjuku is open to you).
TASKThis is a dice-rolling roleplay event where you can earn "points" with each roll. Try to find the Dragon God's treasure before Part II ends! If you do, you may receive a very special present from the Dragon God himself! However, beware of random mod-posts that may effect everyone *evil laugh*!
►Above all, do NOT tag the Dragon God / mods directly when posting ►Create a blank post with the Post Action "Roll Dice". Roll1, 100-sided die with every rp post. You can edit this post with your rp after rolling. ►Depending on your dice roll, see the corresponding prompt (below) for you to roleplay and guide you along. Each prompt will either add or subtract points. (If you roll a result that goes into negative points, just stay at 0!) ►The first person to reach 25 points will have found the Dragon God's treasure! ►There is no limit to how many times you can roll/rp a day, Starting February 10, 2011, 12 am Shoptime (current time is HERE), you may only post a maximum of 4 times a day. They must be real rp replies (not just chat-based). We recommend a minimum 200 words per post (that's a guideline, not a hard rule!) ► It's up to you what the "clues" to the treasure's location are - they could be location hints, scraps of paper, fortunes, whatever - feel free to get creative! ► Remember to count / keep track of your own points in your posts!! You may still rp and travel with other characters, but points are counted individually.

Do . . . A favour for the Dragon God? Candace was so excited she nearly tripped over her own two feet. Of course she would! She'd find it first and please him; then he might grant her her wish, right? Or at least, doing a favour for a God didn't seem like it could hurt in her mind. Candace is nothing if not a little foolish, though - she ran off in the wrong direction almost immediately, getting herself lost from the very first moment. She felt very silly, of course, getting lost so fast, but then there the God was again! And he was - he was helping her! She flushed a bright pink as he did so, feeling as though she deserved nothing else from him since he was being so kind even though he didn't have to be.
When he finished leading her, however . . . They were in a toy store. Her eyes flared up, her temper still alive from, what seemed like days ago now but was surely only minutes, the woman questioning her offering as though she knew who Candace was. She huffed softly but bowed deeply and smiled at him. She thanked him before he was on his way, and she resolved herself to look around this place of children, the very thing that tormented her and she could not have. Attached to the foot of the bear was a riddle, which she read and attempted to understand . . .

When the dragon god spoke of a proper offering, this human male snorted. So everything that was offered wasn't good enough. He expected as much. With a deep breath, he pulled himself up from the sand. As he dusted of his a**, he released one of those long drawn out sighs of a person that really didn't want to do what was requested of them. But, why the hell not?
Following the mass exodus of people off the beach, the 37 year old let his thoughts wander. How the hell were they supposed to find a hairpin? It was going to be rather difficult to find something that's probably not worn every day or kept in a keepsake, or even sold or pawned. Regardless, he wanted to find it to show humans are better than gods.
Wait...
He came to a dead halt and scowled. Geeze, he fell for it! A hand smacked against his forehead with a loud slap as he groaned. Of course the dragon god wouldn't lift a hand to find it himself. Send out the mortals, his pawns! And he fell right for it like all the other fools that were hunting down this jade hairpin.
But in his turmoil, a clue was given. Weather the dragon god was really helping or just taunting him; the royal pain in the a** directed him to a clue. And boy, what a helpful clue it was. That's helpful as in completely pointless. It was a photograph from some of some woman. Her face was marred and hard to make out, but the jade hairpin in her hair was clearly visible. Now he had to find the source of the photograph. Perhaps one of the others looking around would have some other clues... now where did Shin and Galen wander off to?

It was the strangest feeling. One moment he was standing on the beach with many other people, listening to what the Dragon God had to say to them. Then with a sudden pulling sensation that made his stomach turn, he found himself standing in the familiar setting of the Shinjuku district. Light and sound bombarded him. His mind spun for a few minutes, distracted by the sudden change of scenery that he forgot why exactly he had been brought there.
A jade hairpin. Gregory scratched his head, wondering where exactly he would find something like that. While he had been to Shinjuku many times for gigs, he didn't know many of the shops around the area. Or at least, not any that sold things like hairpins. The places he visited were mostly bars and restaurants.
He started down one of the streets, weaving through the crowded area. He scanned the shops along the street for anything that looked like it might be a jewelry type store to look in, hoping that the Dragon God's hairpin might be there. But what were the odds of that happening? Shinjuku was certainly no small area, and if the jade hairpin was here somewhere, it could take forever to find it.
The passing smell of cooking meat caught his attention, and his stomach gave a rumble. He stopped by it to pick up a quick bite to eat.

[ Rolling for Azami -- +2 ]
"Please watch your step," was something that she remembered hearing. Zave, the young man who was a bit scared and fidgety during the beginning of the encounter with the Dragon God, was taking her hand. That was the last thing she remembered of being at the beach. One moment the group of individuals were on the shore of the harbor of Tokyo Bay, and the next they were somewhere else. Being transported was nothing like the elderly woman had ever felt before. It was…disorienting, to say the least. Though, once they had reached their second destination, it didn’t take Azami long for her to realize where they were. The bright, neon signs of the shops gave it away: they were all in Shinjuku.
While it was nice to have had Zavier’s help back on the beach, the group of individuals was on stable ground once more. Azami’s wooden sandals would have no trouble on this terrain, and she was eager to get going. A task had been given to them – find the jade hairpin, and find it she would. "I’m off, then," she said as she started to walk, her geta making a soft clattering noise as she walked along the pavement. As if to help her, the two young animal lads grabbed her hands to walk her along. They wanted to be kind enough to help an old lady out, it seemed.
The boys’ hint was to lead the elderly woman off to the stand of a street vender: okonomiyaki was his specialty of choice. As she approached the stall, Azami couldn’t help but smile. Perhaps she’d grab some food on her way while on her little treasure hunt, and ask the old man behind the cart if he had any advice for her. It would never hurt to talk to as many people as possible.

Shui Yun watched as Lucy made her offering to the Dragon God. Plucky girl thought Shui Yun with some admiration. I bet I wouldn’t have the guts to do that .
The dragon seemed to be hovering over the turbulent sea but at least it did not look like it was about to attack them anytime soon. Quite the opposite actually; the dragon god had reverted back to his human form when a big wave seemed to wash over him.
Find his jade hairpin huh? thought Shui Yun with a frown. When was the last time the dragon god visited earth? Judging from the way he spoke, it was quite some time ago. Who knew where the pin was now. Heck, even if the pin was stolen not five minutes ago a person would have trouble searching for it.
But nevertheless it was the request of a god and who was he to object to it? Granted his parents might be worrying but he could always explain it to them later. It was times like these that Shui Yun wished his parents would get themselves a mobile phone. The old phone back home had recently broken down but no one had yet made an effort to replace it.
So….where in the world could a hairpin be?
The sudden teleportation made Shui Yun queasy in the stomach and the young man stumbled slightly in this familiar looking place. Guessed it was somewhere in Shinjuku then. The others were already breaking off to look for it and Lucy was…probably somewhere in the crowd. Maybe he’d bump into her again.
But if it was in Shinjuku, where would the hairpin be? Shui Yun had heard rumours about shops that sold goods of questionable origins so perhaps there would be a good start.

And she thought she did understand it, but the lights and brightness and newness and shininess of Shinjuku had other plans for her. She'd meant to go straight for the place named in the riddle - or the place she thought was named, she supposed . . . But the crowd had grabbed ahold of her; she wasn't a particularly small woman, after all, and so she was carried with them to an entirely different part of Shinjuku, with items in stalls that captivated her attention. She flocked towards them, buying something, realising that her stomach was growling discontentedly with her lack of food and nervousness. She snapped something up quickly and ate it with a smile before she recalled what she was doing - and, of course, immediately wanted to slap herself. She was looking for something for a God, and here she was eating? Well, eating was important, but still . . . She shook her head hard, the curls bouncing as though they had a life of their own.
She finished scarfing her treat down and started off again towards the location and shop named in the riddle. She'd find it. She'd find the pin, she knew it! She just had to keep herself on track . . . And hope she didn't get distracted again! She huffed loudly to herself and rubbed her arm, feeling awkward and stupid and silly as she walked.

But the crowd, again, had different plans for her. People bustling, trying to get home, trying to get places and Candy was just in the way. She was pushed, shoved, and trapped in the middle of a rather determined pocket of people. She was forced to follow along with them . . . And ended up in a part of Shinjuku she had never been in before. She had chills as she bit her lip and nervously hummed, just trying to make noise that soothed her, that was real instead of the faceless, shapless, inhuman noise of people that were not making distinct words in her ears. It was terrifying and she hated it. In instinct, she went away from the noise, wanting to get away as fast as she could. In her haste, Candace picked an entirely wrong direction and only succeeded in getting herself even more lost than she was before.
Tears stung hard at her eyes and she looked around. Impulsively, she bought sweets, her stomach still growling after eating so little. The sweetness of the treats eased the pain as she wandered around, determined to find a landmark she knew of so that she could figure her way back to the path she was headed on. She knew the teddy bear was right! Why . . . Why else would the world be so determined to lead her in the other direction?
Eventually, she found her way back to a street she knew and restarted her quest for the Teddy Bear's Location. It had a nice ring to it . . . At least in her own ears.

"Excuse me," Azami said quietly to the old man at the food stand. As she stood in front of the food cart, the woman couldn’t help but rub her hands together a bit nervously – she was eager to go on the treasure hunt, but unsure if she would actually find what she was looking for. "Do you know where I might find any nice jade hairpins?" The old man had no idea, it seemed, for he flashed her a dubious expression followed by the shake of a head. "I’m sorry, ma’am," he told her with a wave of his hand. "But I have no idea. I’m just a simple vendor."
The kimono maker drooped a little at her fruitlessness. Darn – she thought that, surely, he might have had some idea. Guess not, and some thoughts on how to find the hairpin weren’t as easy as she thought they would be. Trying to think of what to do next, Azami bit down on her lip in contemplation. She wasn’t really getting anywhere at this rate, clearly, and a certain Deity took notice. It seemed a bit of help was in order, and it was the elderly woman’s lucky day to get it.
This time Azami was led to somewhere else down the winding alleyways of Shinjuku. The shop was, in comparison to most, not that eye-catching. Most would have walked past it, actually. The shop was an antique store, nestled quietly in a forgotten corner. By the looks of things, the store didn’t get much business. Worked seemed to be slow enough for the worker behind the counter to be lolling about reading the latest manga magazine. Intrigued by this hint, the elderly woman then stepped inside the shop. Surely she would get some sort of clue here.
"Young man," she said kindly, "I’m looking for a jade hairpin. Do you know where I might find one?" The young man behind the counter blinked. It had been a while since they had last gotten business, so it was evident he had to think really hard to try and remember a trinket as small as that. "Hairpin…hairpin…" he murmured, trying his hardest to think. "Oh, I know! We sold a hairpin not too long ago to a rocker dude. You might try and find him? He likes to eat food around here from time to time."
That was all Azami needed to hear. A young musician. It shouldn’t be too hard to find a young man who was into music in Shinjuku, right? Right? Smiling, the kimono maker bowed in thanks to the worker, and made her way out of the store. She now had a lead for who she had to find.

A search for a hairpin? Sachiko sighed, supposing that it was better not to question the intentions of the Dragon god. She was glad, to the least, that he hadn't decided to destroy New Tokyo due to her fellow humans' insolent behavior from the earlier encounter with the deity. It pained her to know that she was among one of the only sane members of human society to respect traditional specters and fear them all the same. Her rainboots squeaked as she was led to the next clue by an odd boy with horns and another with pale, porcelain skin. She dared not to question their humanity, for she was sure that the Dragon god had something to do with them. Either way, she was gaining assistance from the two, and a single lead was better than none. Smiling softly, Sachiko gazed at what she was led to, a shop front, where hair accessories were sold for young maidens. After a brief interrogation, she'd learned that she wouldn't be able to find the treasure in accessory stores, for jade was a rare stone that she'd have more luck with street vendors. It was unfortunate and almost unlikely, but so was fate.
Picking up her pace, Itagaki Sachiko ventured onwards.
