Quote:
The king cobra's genus name, Ophiophagus is a Greek derived word which means "snake-eater", and its diet consists primarily of other snakes, including ratsnakes, small pythons and even other venomous snakes such as various members of the true cobras (of the genus Naja), and even the much more venomous members of the krait family. When food is scarce, they may also feed on other small vertebrates, such as lizards, birds, and rodents. In some cases, the cobra may "constrict" its prey, such as birds and larger rodents, using its muscular body, though this is uncommon. After a large meal, the snake may live for many months without another one because of its slow metabolic rate. The king cobra's most common meal is the ratsnake; pursuit of this species often brings king cobras close to human settlements. - W I K I P E D I A

NAME Akukoutaku (Japanese for 'evil luster')
OWNER Itagaki Sachiko

PERSONALITY
Ironically enough, Aku is nothing like what his name would suggest. He fears evil and condemns it, but he isn't much of an advocate of justice either. He figures that the idea of justice itself is very confusing especially from the way humans confront it. He's learned from his owners that crime and punishment is dealt with differently among cultures, and often one culture may contradict another in its methods. Additionally, he finds human politicians intrinsic because they constantly debate and conjure quick decision, which he's never been good at. Akukoutaku prefers sitting back and strikeing only when provoked. In this sense, he is far from judgmental. The evil that he identifies isn't associated with things humans are punished for due to law-breaking but supernatural evils like ill-intending ghosts and evil spirits. His superstition roots from reading too many ghost stories that Sachiko seems to avidly collect. He does view himself as an evil beast, for he definitely isn't normal, being the incarnate of a King Cobra, and uses venomous words. Sometimes he can be overly unkind in how he speaks to Sachiko just because he feels that she's not developing correctly. This is to say that although Aku lacks a moral compass, he does know what a good decision is from a better one due to his namesake as a King Cobra. He is very much the type to push his opinions on someone if he can make any at all.

Aku is nonetheless easily irascible; it's difficult for his owner to keep him contained. But perhaps, this is because Sachiko has a difficult time telling him exactly what it is that she has trouble with since she speaks through human metaphors, therefore setting off Aku constantly and provoking him to hiss at her (because he is a snake). Aku despises philosophers (though he is one himself of a sort), but this aspect of him expands to disliking people showering him with too many questions, especially trite or irrelevant ones. He likes getting to the point--the main plot and dislikes clutter of every form. Despite his owner flaws, he's unconditionally loyal because he finds her pitiful despite her apathetic persona and he feels as if, like most humans, she isn't making the right decisions for herself when she should be. He does like her more than most humans, and he finds them extremely incompetent and altogether bothersome creatures that worry too much with issues that don't truly matter. As a hypocrite, Aku lacks a definite moral compass and often finds himself doing cruel things without providing a reason as for why he does them. He does them because he can, and he doesn't want to bother with why humans think it's wrong to trap mice and have them die slowly. Nature doesn't need to explain itself, and neither does Aku.

He can be very committed to something if he's motivated to put his mind to it, but only because of another driving force. It's not that he's lazy, it's that he needs an incentive that he thinks is worth pursuing. If Sachiko wants him to do something, even if it's not something that he feels is strongly justified, he'll do it just because. Though Sachiko wished for a creature that could see humanity through a different scope for her, Aku seems to only impair her vision more. He's just as frustrated with humanity as she is, and he plans to work with her to decipher the mystery of "the other race". Nonetheless, he attempts to be "helpful" around his owner but only subtly so that she won't become dependent on him. He believes that the two of them were united through the universe's unlawful law and he plans on sticking by her until he finds something that he can motivate himself into committing. Although Sachiko is his owner, the idea of ownership is not something Aku knows that he'll be comfortable with supporting her forever. He is, after all, a King, and while he's willing to aid his subject in what it is she requires, he will never acknowledge servitude to her. He just simply doesn't want to see it that way. His closeness to Sachiko is a very push-and-pull relationship; he only prefers her company because of her odd way of thought. He doesn't think she's arcane enough to be considered a "philosopher" though, at least, not yet.

To Akukoutaku, the human world is still a snake-eat-snake world. He applies this mentality to Sachiko, and he'd "help" her win--would pressure her win any debate nor situation, acting as her shadowy adviser and occasionally putting words into her mouth. He has a snakeskin egoism, exhibiting it through praise of his Owner, which he feels, in turn, reflects his efforts. He would never ask for others to admire him, but he'd be conniving in getting others to find his Owner charming, clever, or whatever the occasion needs her to be. He gloats when Sachiko is appreciated, not for her sake, but for his own. The ulterior motive in keeping Sachiko beside him is to experiment with her. If she got what he intended her to receive, he succeeded. If not, he would need to test an alternative. Aku constantly "converses" with humankind through his Owner, mainly through manipulation of the tongue and a psychological venom that's very much the aspects of the real. He insists to Sachiko when his experiments "work" that he is not a scientist but a magician, not a philosopher but a King Cobra. Akukoutaku is a devil of Nature, and Nature herself is perhaps the only force that will ever coherently define him.

LIKES: mild weather, gourmet food (when Sachiko can afford it), herbal aromas, picture books (less opinionated), urban legends
DISLIKES: politics, soap operas, human television in general (too opinionated), horror stories (but he reads them anyways because he's slightly masochistic.)

HISTORY:
Aku was quite unmotivated as a King Cobra. He'd lounge around aimlessly until prey foolishly found their way to him, in which he would ensure that their demise would be the most fulfilling to him. He slept when he felt he needed to and woke when he could no longer sleep. He had no particular purpose as a King Cobra, and the thought of having one was never an issue to him until he met his Owner, a young girl with an odd perception that perked his interest. She seemed to be a perfectly content creature with herself, yet underneath her snakeskin, something boiled and refused to leak through. A predator or a prey? Only time would tell. [ TO BE CONTINUED IN RP... ]

PURPOSE FOR A PET:
Sachiko, inherently, doesn't want to be an insect. She wants to be something greater than what she applies, but she isn't quite sure how to get there and never made friends with anyone with an odd perception equal to her own that could answer that question. The reason is very simple: everyone she knows and has ever interacted with is a human. What would an animal have to say to her? Especially one with great adequacy? Surely it would see humanity with a different eye, a bestial eye. Perhaps it was time to find out.

APPEARANCE:
SKIN: pale, almost white-ish
HAIR: black; style: 01 | 02
EYES: light brown, kind of sleepy looking
EXPRESSION: generally pretty serious because Sachiko needs assurance from him
BUILD: relatively lean
CLOTHING: he wears a black kimono like the one on the topmost right with patterns that resemble a King Cobra's, his chest is slightly exposed like in the sample image.
TATTOOS: I would love tattoos where his chest/neck show, though it's up to you how they're designed!

xxxPERSONALITY

DO WHAT YOU WANT IF YOU WANT TO DO IT; JUST CARRY IT THROUGH.
Sachiko doesn't particularly care if people want to include her in on something or not which makes her seem slightly asocial but she'll definitely speak if spoken to or help if asked to. She doesn't commend failure well, even if it doesn't concern her. She figures that a good work ethic will carry anyone through; the only reason someone would reap unsatisfactory results is because they either didn't try hard enough or they ultimately never committed to a purpose. As an acupuncture intern and Itagaki heiress, Sachiko tenaciously tries to minimize error because she understands that one needle in the wrong body area could result in disaster or reverse the effects of treatment. She universally applies this mentality. The Itagakis have long held the belief that if you're working in an occupation, you're obliged to research ahead of time to know exactly what you'll face and endure in application to yourself. An empty ken is synonymous to wasted effort. Sachiko is an avid learner and she's generally eager to fulfill expectations she's set for herself.

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Sachiko doesn't enjoy her family's occupation, nor does she think most of their patients deserve the treatment at all because most peoples' lives didn't benefit to the bettering of the world; this makes her come off as disenchanted sometimes when she writes essays or blog entries. She wishes that people were constructed very much like ants to an ant colony in which they'd be forced to be given a niche . That way, everyone would be useful and beneficial to their causes. Sachiko swears that if given a choice, she would play judge to determine which "crawler" lived and which died, and often the insect/arachnid/etc.correlated would somehow be integrated into the method of murder. She seems to think lightly on the idea of life and death and wouldn't mind dying since death in itself was the greatest boon of life. It vindicates people from the horrors of the world and daily routine. She doesn't like it or dislike it, though, and she's far from angst-y. She simply sees the world through a hierarchical scope and judges things accordingly from what's most important to worldly benefit to what's least important. The world isn't a depressing place, it just hasn't quite reached its potential. To be judgemental is simply to find the clear line dividing the two. Her perception is also heavily influenced by her traditional acceptance of fate as mandates from heaven.

HEALING THROUGH POISON
When it comes to social anxiety and pressures, Sachiko would prefer acting passive aggressively. She would never outright snap at someone if they accused her of anything, and she'd rather sit back to watch them squirm. Of course, Sachiko doesn't find herself eloquent in her tactics so her brief exchanges in such behavior is all she really has in her arsenal. Likewise, if someone approached her about friendship or family issues, she would candidly tell them that she isn't the best person to talk to about "those sort of problems" and inform them that the only method that she could offer was tough love since it's the concept she herself was rea#A78D84 on. It's important to skin your knee first to reinforce the skin area for later. To maximize pleasure you must understand the consequences of pain.

xxxHISTORY

Sachiko didn't develop in a very protective environment. From an early age, her parents encouraged hands-on activity and picking the correct herbs and reading the procedures by herself without their aid. Of course, they'd review her results to see if she was on the right track, and when she wasn't, they'd subtly move her towards the appropriate one. The Itagaki Clinic was both her home and her classroom, for it was where her parents worked. The Itagakis weren't austere, but they enforced enough discipline for Sachiko to be accustomed to social politeness but she never seemed to want to leave the shop to exercise what she learned. She was apathetic towards breathing in the stuffy aroma of herbs and pulling the built-in drawers on the wall to reveal insects, dried sea creatures, herbs, and whatever secrets that would offer themselves to the art of acupuncture. She was coherent enough to know that it was uncommon for a little girl to have acupuncturist parents, and it seemed to alarm several of her classmates who poo-poohed her family business, but at this, Sachiko did not know why.

When her rationalizing became clear enough upon entering high school, she learned that not everyone believed that acupuncture worked. Why should they? It wasn't a widely popular type of healing, most people went to see doctors or ente#A78D84 hospitals to be treated. No-one verbally judged her in High School, but Sachiko was always paranoid despite. The Itagaki girl truly committed herself to studying her family's craft during High School. It was also then that she learned how acupuncture could be an artful method of murder if carried out meticulously, but she promised herself she'd never try, though the hypothetical thought itself was enough to stir her ideals. People were very much like insects. Without a purpose, their chances of survival was very slim. Even when they did have a purpose, they could die at any given time. Therefore, she vowed to her father after graduating that she would do her best to carry on the Itagaki name without failure. She only had so long to live, and she wasn't sure how long she could live. After all, she was no exception to the insect rule. This is not to mean that she generally belittles society and humanity, she simply thinks that having a purpose and lacking a purpose are equally mundane and important. It's an interesting oxymoron that she's toyed with ever since.

Currently, Sachiko is taking a year off before heading off to a university for doctoring and ascending the long-awaited role as the Itagaki head acupuncturist and heiress. She plans on helping the Itagaki Clinic for a year to learn more about general medical sciences; she hopes that this decision will increase her experience and knowledge so that she'd be better prepa#A78D84 when she attends school next year since she hasn't applied to any universities yet. She hadn't made any close friends in High School to keep in her society, so she mainly wanders wherever she wants in Taito and sometimes beyond her home district to empathize with her beginnings. As of now, she acts as an interloper in the affairs of strangers, a "collector", imbibing all she can about the significance of the unfamiliar.

She wants to be something greater than what she applies, but she isn't quite sure how to get there and never made friends with anyone with an odd perception equal to her own that could answer that question. Lai Sze (or "red envelopes") are traditionally passed to children during Chinese New Year to ensure luck for the coming year. Fashioned in the shape of those lucky envelopes, maybe if you eat enough of these candies, you'll be lucky all year!

n o t e s
I hope I did Akukoutaku's history correctly, I wasn't sure how long
or descriptive it was but I didn't want to end up sounding like Animal Planet
so I just made clear what the plot potential between Aku and his Owner was
going to be like.

Additionally, I added Sachiko's profile in also so that critters/reviewers can
have a more convenient access in measuring character comparability.
Hope it all works out nicely! Thanks for reading!
