Description : Medium height and built with a constant look of scruffiness about him. Eyes are often half closed and sleepy looking but have the capacity to look sharp and alert if he wants to. Can be often seen wearing loose fitting but comfortable clothes.
Occupation: Traditional medicine seller/healer. Runs a small family shop in one of the backend alleys of Taito but Shui Yun often goes to the Shinjuku night market to sell his remedies when his parents are not able to.
Residence: A small low cost apartment just next to his parents somewhere in Taito (he often eats at their place to save cost).

Obliging
Shui Yun is a rather obliging young man when he is in the mood to be one
(mostly because he can’t be bothered with drawn out confrontations). Often smiles at the old ladies who visit his family’s shop in Taito and is agreeable with his customer’s needs most of the time. Good memory
Shui Yun has an exceptional memory and has already memorized the usage of most of the herbs sold in the family shop. Shui Yun is also capable of concocting a variety of medicinal cures from memory and is more capable of treating minor wounds. It is only unfortunate that he lacks the motivation to excel in school.

Shui Yun, like his name, is rather like a cloud that drifts without any particular aim or goal in mind. The most perplexing question the young man would like to face on a daily basis would be whether his breakfast egg should be hard boiled or soft.
Superstitious
Despite growing up in a rather modern city, Shui Yun is a superstitious being. For example, he diligently washes his face and feet every night to avoid having bad dreams. He also believes in never turning back when hearing his name called in the dark streets and firmly believes that the sound of nails being clipped at night would draw attention to the supernatural. Needless to say, Shui Yun sometimes sleeps with the lights on.

History
Shui Yun had a pretty normal childhood as far as he is concerned. His parents had both emigrated from mainland China to settle in Taito where he was born. Being the only child, Shui Yun had not had to compete much for food and clothing and although poor, he is perfectly satisfied with his way of life.
Despite being gifted with a fine brain, Shui Yun had opted to not use it (much). The reason behind this was simply because…he had seen how hard the top scorers had to work to maintain their grades, get into a good university, graduate and then…
For what purpose?
To work unendingly for a salary that barely covers the high cost of living that they have set themselves to?
To constantly chase each other up the never ending corporate ladder?
No thank you.
They could have their fancy tea and foreign sounding breakfasts. He would settle for a mug of thick coffee and an egg.
Having figured all this out in his early teens, Shui Yun had then devoted his life to…not doing much; except helping his parents to look after the shop, of course. It simply would not do let his source of income run dry. From his father he had learned the art of wound healing and herbal application and from his mother he had learnt the art of concocting salves and ointments. Recently, Shui Yun had added “love potion” to his wares to entice the younger generation of Shinjuku.
(Love potion is merely a hoax although some of the medicinal plants in there contains aphrodisiac-like qualities)
All in all, Shui Yun is satisfied with station in life but despite his carefree way of life, a tiny part of him keeps asking…what if…?

Purpose for a pet:
Well, Shin Yun is definitely lacking in personal goals and motivation. I was hoping that a pet from the teastall would give him just that. Granted 'Boss' is his only real responsibility right now but keeping a pet fish does not require any real commitments in terms of funding as well as time.
But a pet from the tea stall would definitely put him on his toes. Especially one that has high expectations in life and insists that he (as the owner) achieves it.
I am not sure how far a pet can go but I suppose Shui Yun can get motivated enough if said pet is capable of making him think that his parents are now hostages. So a fairly dangerous/intimidating pet is in need here to buck him up.
Note: I'll work on him from time to time but for now, this will be his base template.
