INFANTRY PRIMARY WEAPONS
The weapons listed below (except for specialist weapons) are usable by any of the primary infantry
weapons positions, these being- Marksmen, Designated Marksmen, Grenadiers, and Squad Support units. The below listed weapons categories intend to provide suggestions for which weapons should be used by a person within your category, but you are not limited to only using the weapons in your listed category. You are, however, limited to using one of the weapons listed below.
In terms of ammunition used, any weapon chambered for 5.56mm rounds are allowed to use either
5.56mm x 45mm- 5 gram Mk 262 rounds or
6.8mm x 43mm remington SPC, both are which are capable are being used in any 5.56mm rifle, effectively, with a quick barrel change. Of course, during the midst of combat these two rounds may not be used interchangeably, as they both contain differing calibers, and would require intricate barrel changes (which is extremely complex to do without the help of a gunsmith/industrial machine). Obviously, round choices would have to be chosen before choosing the weapons and ammunition acquired accordingly. As a side note, any other variants of the 5.56mm rounds, such as the M855 ball, are strictly forbidden. One exception to this rule, however, is the
5.6mm Gw Pat 90, which disallows certain weapons (such as the Sig 550) to work without it's use, or to work properly.
Any weapon chambered for
7.62mm x 51mm rounds are capable of using the standard
NATO 7.62mm x 51mm .308 variants, or may use the
HEIAP (High explosive Incendiary Armor Piercing) rounds. While the rounds are capable of being used interchangeably, it is not recommended, as their standard velocity, 840 m/s (and 780 m/s for match grade 11.2 gram projectiles) and 710 m/s respectively, require different barrel rifling, the different rifling effecting the accuracy and over-all kinetic energy of each round, causing specific rifling twists to be needed. Still, both may be interchanged, although it should be noted that the standard 7.62mm x 51mm NATO cartridges are 25.4 grams, and HEIAP rounds are 29.3 grams per cartridge.
Grenadiers, in particular, are allowed to use normal rifles with a simple grenade launcher attachment; without the accessories cost. In addition, each grenadier is allowed to carry up to 20 extra grenades of any kind from the lists (including smoke bombs and flash bangs). This also means that, anyone hoping to use 40mm Grenade launchers is also given an extra 20 grenades at their disposal. While Grenadiers are not exactly or entirely intended to throw or launch grenades, basically being heavy weapon explosive units, the extra grenades intend to provide more utility and a different available, explosive option to the squad arsenal.
