Basic Information

The weapon uses a 16 inch hammer forged polygonal 1 in 8 inch rifling twist barrel with an HK416's firing system and internals, matched to the Steyr Aug's A3 carbine formation. While a 24 inch barrel, or even a 20 inch barrel, is a presumable option for the weapon, given it's original base, which could potentially result in increased accuracy from the rifle, the polygonal rifling allows for the weapon to produce roughly the same velocity by capturing more gases and energy earlier in the barrel and the accuracy achieved by a 24 inch barrel, while imparting roughly around the same amount of spin, in a smaller, carbine format. While it is also presumable that one could add a 24 inch polygonal barrel to the weapon, becuase the weapon is intended to be used by infantry units who need and use both CQB and long range combat techniques, and due to the fact that a 24 inch polygonal barrel does not increase the velocity or accuracy of a weapon by a significant amount, the marginal difference in accuracy with the elongated barrel compared to size, weight, and efficiency, makes the carbine format the most viable option, although 12, 20, and 24 barrel variants do exist.
