Team: [Eskimo], Bostwick23, Kytora
Character Summaries:

---Brother: Chardon (Thistle) Played by Kytora

To anyone outside of his family, Chardon is a confident lion. He's cocky, flirts with the other girls in the pride, and is generally well-liked throughout the pride. He's a strong leader and every member likes that. Which is another mark against his sister.

To his sister, he is a sweet and gentle brother. He cares for her, supports her, encourages her to be more outgoing and appear 'strong' to their pride. His cockiness slides away and he really becomes a teacher. Chardon is an intelligent male and he tries to pass on his knowledge to his sister. With all the time they spend together, through their lessons and her troubles, he grows to love her more than just a sibling's affection.

---Sister: Calabaza (Pumpkin) Played by Bostwick23

She is secretly in love with her younger brother because since he was able to, he has been supportive of her, protected her from the other pride members who don't want a weak leader, and so on.

She does know she'll have to lead the pride eventually, so she wants to become stronger, but she also knows it probably isn't in her.

---Adol: Amalahle (Coal) Played by [Eskimo]

Amalahle was born an only child to a single mother. Since her mother was secretly guilty for leaving her mate, causing her cub to have to grow up without a father, she spoiled her daughter quite a bit. Amalahle grew up able to get what she wanted, when she wanted. She learned at a young age how to blackmail and manipulate. When she reached adolescence, she left her mother in search of a place to call her own. In her wanderings as a rogue, Ama came across a male lion by the name of Chardon. She fell in love with him instantly. When she learned he was part of a pride, the lioness decided to do whatever she could to get in...And make that lion hers.

Story:

The Agam'ar pride.

Inkosi - King
Indlovukazi - Queen
Inkosana - Prince
Inkosazana - Princess
Ikhansela - Council
Ingane - Small (cubs)

Umlindi - Watchman (guard)
Umzingeli - Hunter
Umame - Mother (nannies)
Umuntu - Anyone (outsiders/rogues)

Always honor the Royal Family.
Respect the decisions of the Council and of the Royal Family.
Always bow before Royalty.
The first born of a Royal litter shall be named Heir, regardless of gender.
Never raise your voice to the Ingane (unless given permission from the Council).
Only hunt for the pride as a whole; never yourself alone.
Other species are not allowed into the Agam'ar for any reason.
A pair of lions are not to be considered true mates until they have gone before the Council for permission.
Those related by blood can never become mates.

There was sand; seemingly endless sand all around. The sun was high in the sky. It was a hot day in the desert.

Amalahle was wandering; not unusual behavior for a rogue. She'd been through forests, savanna, jungles, and now a desert. But on this particular scorching day, Ama stopped traveling. Because on this particular scorching day in the middle of the desert,

she saw him.

Just ahead of her, walking across the sand like a ghost, the most beautiful brown lion was taking a stroll. Beside him was a lighter-colored female with similar markings, but Amalahle didn't notice her. She was much too engulfed in the features of the male. How his fur shone in the sun...What dark eyes...Ama felt her heart flutter strangely and she sighed.

She had to have him.

The lioness walked after the two, far behind them, making sure not to be seen. Something in her told her to remain in secrecy for right then; to go unnoticed. But before she got too far, she lost sight of them. They had vanished in a gust of sandy wind. Irritated, Ama continued in the direction they had gone into. But it wasn't long before she caught sight of four lions approaching her.

"Stay where you are!" one bellowed. Ama did as she was told, but she smiled charmingly.

"Good day." she said sweetly. She remained still and allowed the four lions to position themselves on each side of her, blocking any attempt at escape.

"This is Agam'ar pride territory. Umuntu are not allowed in." a scarred male growled.

Hmmm, a pride. If that gorgeous male was in a pride, she'd just have to get herself in.

"Umuntu?" Amalahle echoed childishly. "I'm not sure what that is. Does it mean I'm a bad person?" she asked.

"It means you're a rogue. An outsider. You are not to be allowed in without the permission of the Ikhansela."

"Well, how do I get permission?" Ama asked. "I want to join this...Pride."

Baffled at her unexpected statement, the guards exchanged glances, an unheard conversation passing between them. Then the scarred male spoke. "Wait here." he ordered. Then he left.

Several minutes passed and Amalahle waited patiently. When the guard returned, he told her that the council had told him to bring her to the royals. Pleased with her progress, Ama followed the guards to the heart of their pride. The sand was hot under her feet and she was tired from walking, but she continued on, eager to see the gorgeous male lion again.

Once inside the heart of the pride, Ama was met with the sight of towering, dry rocks riddled with holes that were probably dens. The guards led her inside a large rock formation. It was vast and empty. At the very end were rows of lions. Ama's eyes met with the one lion she was after. Beside him was an orange female. Ama wondered if they were related.

The guards bowed before the two lions and shoved Ama down to do the same. She did.

Cala fidgeted where she stood, avoiding eye contact with Ama.

"I've heard...That you wish to join the Agam'ar." she said quietly. Ama nodded, gazing at the male even though the female was speaking. "I'm Calabaza, the...princess of this pride." she said, blurting out the last part as though it were embarrassing. "In order to join, you must agree to these rules." There was a long pause. "Ah! Um...The rules...You have to repeat 'I understand' after I say each one...Alright?" she asked hesitantly. Amalahle nodded, eager to continue.

The rules were recited to the adolescent. She made sure to act as honest and truthful as possible, answering each rule with a resounding, "I understand." After she was made an official member, Ama began to do what she had set out to do in the first place;

learn about the male. She had learned that his name was Chardon. He was the brother of the princess.

For several days, she followed in his footsteps, listening to his conversations and watching his actions with other pride members. He was a stunning sight to behold, flirting with girls and laughing loudly, like he owned the world.

One day as she was following him, like usual. She saw him talking with concern to his sister. The two walked off together. Ama followed them. Quite good at hiding, Ama was never detected. Chardon And Cala walked to a place not very far from the heart of the pride, but far enough away so that no one else was around. The brother and sister slipped behind a towering dead tree. It was wider than five lions around. Ama slinked over to it, making no sound, and hid behind it, listening.

"Hey, what are you worrying about? You keep frowning like that and those wrinkles on your head will stay there, y'know." Chardon teased his sister gently.

Cala laughed. "I know, I just don't know how I'll be able to lead this pride...I become more nervous each day. I know I'll have to lead them soon. And I know that most of them don't want me to lead. Because I'm not very strong." She looked down, ashamed. "I just don't know what to do."

He put his nose under her chin and gently lifted her gaze back to meet his.
"They think you're not strong because you show your strength in different ways. You have a sense of humor. You're more sensitive to others' needs, and therefore a good friend. You spend more than enough time with any and every cub who wants to spend time with you. You are their role model. And even though every one else in the pride doesn't see you as strong as they'd like you to be, I do. Know that. I see you as one of the strongest leaders we've ever had."

Chardon nuzzled her gently in reassurance. She closed her eyes and returned the affection.

"You always support me no matter what; that's why I love you so much."

He chuckled. "I know."

After those final words, Ama rushed away from the tree and out of sight, shocked at what she had heard. It was disgusting; terrifying. HER Chardon? In love with his sister...?

It was perfect.

A dark smile crept onto the girl's face and she crept back to the heart of the pride.

Later that night at dinner, she saw Chardon. Walking up to him, she asked if they could speak in private. Chardon smirked and agreed, his usual flirty self. But it made Ama wonder; perhaps his flirty side had been a front all along? He didn't care for any female but his sister.

Once the two were alone, Ama grinned. "I know your secret." she said. Chardon raised an eyebrow, looking confused. But Ama told him everything; what she had heard. She said that if he didn't act like her mate, she would tell the pride and he and his sister would be killed. Such a crime was breaking one of the untouchable rules and punishable by death. Chardon gaped. He knew he was powerless in that situation.

So it was that Chardon became Ama's tool; her plaything. But it wasn't long before she wanted something more; something deeper.

She wanted to become mates, officially through the council.

Chardon refused. He wouldn't mate someone he didn't love. He loved his sister.

"If you won't become my mate, I'll reveal your secret and both you and your sister will die." Ama said darkly, glaring. But then her face softened. "Perhaps I can make it easier for you? Take this into consideration...If you kill your sister, you'll become the Prince, ruler of Agam'ar. So what'll it be? Become my mate, living in constant blackmail...Or kill your sister and become king?" Chardon stared, face blank. Such thoughts were incomprehensible. He couldn't do either one. But then...

What was stopping him from killing Ama?

Kill Ama and be with his sister, but continue living in secrecy all his life...Or mate Ama and crush his sister's heart, equally living under blackmail? Or kill his sister, become prince, and be free from blackmail?

Which would he choose?

Chardon decided to forgo all of those options.

He decided to run away with Amalahle.

Ama was perfectly fine with this decision. She was all too ready to run away with the beautiful male she coveted. Already she began to think about life as Chardon's mate.

Chardon, on the other hand, hates Ama with everything he is. She ruined his life. She forced him away from the sister he loved and his entire home; his pride. She blackmailed him and used him.
But of course, Chardon hid his hatred. He put up his usual flirtatious front, leading Ama to believe he loved her. Being so good at this act, Amalahle fully believed in Char and his "love"...

But at the same time, she didn't.

She still had her greedy, possessive side. She still watched his every move. During the few days they spent together away from the pride,
Ama never slept; she stayed up watching Chardon, making sure he was always by her side.

One night, Chardon knew it was time to take action. He had formed a plan to escape Amalahle's watchful eyes. And that night was the night it would all come together.

He slept with her.

After that, in the middle of the night, Amalahle slept for the first time in those few days. She was finally content. She was finally confident in Char's love.

But Chardon had deceived her.

He had done what he felt he had to. He knew that once that act had been done, it would break away the final shackle that held him down. So, Char stole away into the night as Ama was asleep. He was free.
He'd never see that girl again. He would never see his sister again, or his pride's lands. He'd start over and make a new life. His past was behind him. And so was Amalahle.

Little did he know that he had left Ama pregnant...

Back at the Agam'ar pride, Calabaza discovered that her brother was missing. But not only him...So was the new pride member, Amalahle.

Cala knew what had happened immediately.

She had seen before how her brother acted around Ama. He was flirty; loving, even. But there was something strange about it...
He loved her, not Ama. How could he run away with her? It didn't make sense. It couldn't have been real...

Her brother was gone forever?

Refusing to believe he went of his own free will, the princess left her pride in secret, vowing to search for her brother until she found him.
She'd find him and bring him back to the pride with her. Things would go back to the way they used to be, before that adolescent showed up.

But such a long journey is quite dangerous for a single lioness to go alone...

Meet Calabaza, pretty much the whole reason this plot thread was made.

Ever since her beloved brother left with that nasty little adolescent, she's been heartbroken.

In her grief, she decided to leave her pride in search of her brother, Chardon. She's determined to bring him back with her even if he refuses;
even if he's happy with that other girl. But you can imagine that such a journey is trying for a weak fair lioness. She was a princess, after all.
She's not the best tracker, either.

During her search, Cala completely loses her way. She is utterly lost, confused and her emotions are running like crazy.

Cala needs a knight in shining armor -- a lion to volunteer to be her guard and aid in her search.
She needs someone, and not just to help search for her brother; she needs someone to help her.
She's a lioness who's full of affection and kindness and has only ever truly been supported by her brother, who is now gone.
She needs to see that chasing her brother isn't the answer and she can do fine on her own.

A fling would never do. This knight must be a life mate; someone who will stay with and love Cala forever.
Growing up as royalty in a pride who didn't allow other species into their lands, this mate has to be a lion.

During her travels, it would also do her a lot of good to meet others, be they friends or enemies, of any species.

Note: Calabaza has found a mate.

He wasn't a "player," per se, but he had had his share of sleeping with a few other lionesses.

And though that one night wasn't the best night in his life, it wasn't really the worst either
(trust me, you do not want to hear that story). It had been...unpleasant, to say the least.
Sleeping with your enemy.

Ooh, that's deep.

Anyway, this new freedom wasn't really a different feeling for Chardon. In the pride, since he wasn't the heir,
he had been able to walk around and do as he please while Cala learned the ways of the rulers.
Queen-ly stuff, he always said. Boring stuff, she would retort.

...Let's not bring up the past anymore than we have to, alright?

SO.

Moving on.

He was free. Free of everything, especially that manipulative Ama. So what was he to do now? He had no idea.

And that was the beauty of it.

He could meet a lot of new people.
Perhaps a new person in his life--a girl, perhaps?--would help put his past behind him for good. Yeah.

He would like that.

Note: Chardon has found a mate.

One-night-stands suck...Unless you're the one doing the ditching.

Unfortunately, Amalahle was the one who was ditched; left alone and pregnant, no less.

Just when she thought she had everything she ever wanted...
Just when she thought she could get the best of everything and everyone...
Just when she felt like she was the most powerful woman in the world...
It was all taken away.

You can imagine that these things can make an already dark-minded girl even...Well, more dark-minded.
Ama wants revenge.
NO one left HER alone to raise cubs on her own, oh no. She would NOT become her mother. That was impossible. She was better than that.

But although Ama doesn't realize it yet, having cubs may change her. She herself was raised without a father. She knows that empty spot that results in only having one parent.
She might relate to and love her cubs more than she thinks once she has them. But one thing's for sure: she's determined not to have them alone.

Be it lion, cheetah, leopard, anyone. Ama's on the search for someone to help her out in her "time of need".
Someone to help her find Char...And get her revenge. And someone to help her have and raise cubs.
She's a spoiled brat and, though she'll never admit it, really doesn't know how to live successfully on her own. She's only just reached adolescence.

But this bratty, manipulating blackmailer might be more than what she seems.
Maybe if she meets the right guy, or finds some people to call friends (her first friends), she'll see how much she has and forget about revenge?

...Or not.

Haha, shame, I have a really great knight-esc character, but I don't really want him leaving his family, I don't think xD At least, I'm not certain enough to offer him.

I'll sort through my group though to see if I have anyone else to offer. :3
