As the sun sank in the sky, the tell-tale breeze that came with the evening began to sweep its way through the desert.
It was a gorgeous evening and the sky was turning a deep shade of orange. Anyone would've stopped to stare, at least for a few moments to marvel at its beauty; the beauty of nature. But Amalahle was not one to stop and enjoy such things. Besides, she wasn't in the mood. The only thing that occupied her mind was getting out of that boring desert and finding Chardon. Well, that wasn't entirely true...There was at least one other thing on her mind.
How long did black and white boy plan on following her?
Yes, he had helped her out of that little sand pit back there those hours ago...But that was it. What were they, close friends now? Did he feel obligated to keep watch over her because he thought she was clumsy or something? Ama narrowed her eyes. She was not clumsy. But if he didn't think that, what was it? Was his plan just to use her as a guide out of the desert?
Ama sighed.
Well, if that was it, so be it. Just as long as he didn't talk to her...She preferred smoldering in her anger and plans for revenge.
But she couldn't smolder properly with the feeling of two black eyes digging into her back...

Shupavu's dark eyes glanced up at the sky as he trailed after the lioness. When they had left the sand pits where they originally met the sun was still high up in the sky. Yet now, as his large paws thumped against the ground, the vivid blue sky had been dyed in either warm orange or cool navy. It was so beautiful... But if it was so beautiful why wouldn't this lass stop in her quick pace and admire the glow? If he wasn't so determined to get out of this place, Shu would have paused to admire the coming night. Yet if he lost her, this rogue lioness, he'd be lost in this barren land and most surely die. "E-Excuse me?" He suddenly voiced. They had been walking in silence for too long that it had begun to weigh heavily on his shoulders. Once he used to like not speaking, but now he wanted more than anything to start a conversation. The land was too quiet, too dead. It was awful.... "M-Might I ask you who are you? I-I'm Shupavu Vuguru." He had to take the first plunge the young lion decided. If he did, perhaps she'd follow after.

The sudden interruption of silence startled Ama for a brief moment, but she shrugged it off quickly. It was as if she had forgotten that the male following her could speak. Well, he did speak quietly enough. One could easily forget he spoke at all. But when he did speak, one wished he hadn't spoken in the first place for all the stuttering he did. The lad had a horrible problem. The lioness smirked at her demeaning thoughts. It amused her to point out others' flaws at times. Now was one of those times. And she was living it up in her mind, unbeknown to the black and white male behind her.
Hmm, he wanted to play the introduction game? How cute, the lioness thought sarcastically, sneering a bit. But the look vanished, for if the other lion saw her irritated expression, the fun would be lost. Not that he was able to see her face since she was in front of him.
"My name is Amalahle." the dusty adolescent said proudly, not turning around. Though there was nothing to be proud of in regards to the female's heritage, she liked her name well enough. And she certainly liked herself well enough. Why not be proud?
"As for who I am, you'll have to find out on your own." Ama said simply. Her pink eyes scanned the area as she talked, always focusing on directions and sand and sky. She had to be wary of her surroundings at all times. If she wasn't, how would she ever be out of that blasted, hot place?

"Amalahle..." The young male repeated with a somber nod of the his shaggy head. That name...Something in the back of his mind told him to hold onto it and never let it go. He couldn't forget it or, in a subconscious manner of thinking, the world would crumble.
To lock it away in his memories, it was in his best interest to say the title of the young lioness out loud for all to hear. In doing so it stuck to the great web of memory without the worry of being lost in the wings of past bugs.
A light and airy chuckle left his maw at her final comment. Even if she meant to be serious he couldn't help but allow his joy an escape. "W-Well then..." Shupavu spoke, his voice deep and rich even if it trembled. "I suppose I shall." His steps picked up just enough where he wasn't directly beside her, but closer than several steps away, more like a couple now. "Now....umm...Ama-Amalahle...you do re-recall how to get out of this place...correct?" He asked as they ventured across the land. The scenery seemed to be stuck on an invisible button labeled repeat since it all looked the same no matter how far they went. Could the lioness have forgotten her way? If so...what were they to do?

What was that?
What...?!
He was questioning her sense of direction?
That was so like a male...
Sighing, Ama shot him a glare through the corner of her eye. But before the look could be examined for too long, the lioness replaced it with an expression of carelessness.
"Yes, I know the way. I've been here for a long time." she said, each word bouncing off the other as if to prove the truth of the sentence. Indeed, she had been there a long time; longer than she wanted to admit, even to herself. Once Chardon had left her alone in the middle of the night, she had set off for him. Her wanderings took her everywhere; jungle, savanna, and now back to the desert. She searched and searched, wandering day by day, but no matter how hard she tried or how long she looked, she could not find the strange pride Chardon belonged to.
Gods, how she loathed the desert...She wanted to be away from it forever. But she couldn't. Not yet. She had returned to the desert in suspicions that the male she sought had gone back home to his dear, sweet, beloved sister. If he was there, Ama would find him.
And she would make him pay for everything.
Though she wished to stay, she wished to leave even more. The heat, the sun, the sand...They suffocated her from all sides and forced her to think about every little thing she had ever experienced in her life. And she hated it. Every single part of it. The sooner she left, the better. She was already beginning to convince herself that Chardon hadn't gone back to his pride, or that she had entered the wrong part of the desert...
Head low and tail lashing with frustration, the adolescent pressed on, using her inner compass to find the exit. Perhaps more for her sake than Shupavu's.

The youth froze in his step when her cold eyes captured his own. Yet before a a shiver had time to race down his spine that chilly look was gone. Had he just imagined it?
Shupavu's ears perked up when the lass reassured his question. At least the 'Yes' made him feel a little better. So maybe they weren't just going around in circles? Maybe she did know the right way and it was merely taking them some time.
Of course his curiosity peeked when Ama spoke of her period in the desert. She'd been here for a long time? Just how long? He really could not believe that someone could live in such a place as hot as this. The land burned the soles of his paws and with every step he took his body ached from dehydration.
It was Hell. This place surely was the demon's belly. What kind of being could actually survive here?
As the silence enveloped them Shupavu cleared his throat. Even if she didn't like him asking questions, he had to just to take his mind off the painful travel. "So....how many moons have you been here for? A-All your life? How...how could do it?"
