So here she was, trying. She has not seen her son in SO long- her heart ached with the idea of him being sore with her still. When he was small she was an unfit mother and she knew it, but she wanted him to know she loved him and always would.

He should be around here somewhere… this was after all where Vi hung out, and where she and her gang were… her son was always close behind.

Chardon followed behind his mate close behind, ready to comfort her if needed. So far it didn't look like it; she was holding up pretty well. He was proud of her for coming back to her past and confronting it via her son and former best friend.

He looked around the place with a calculating gaze. It was a decent area; plenty of room for a big family of lions, as she had told him.

Dahabu slipped through the prideland grasses in a clumsy, awkward way. He'd been getting larger lately and he still wasn't used to the massive growth spurt. He was a lanky thing and looking quite on the point of malnourishment but he often got by from his catches of rabbits, he would not admit that he needed his mother to survive.

He missed his mom but had a stubborn streak him, and really he thought it was unfair that she would try and keep him from his best friend. He didn't care about her history with Vikali, Ki's mom, and he really didn't think it'd been fair that she try and use that as a reason to keep he and Ki apart.

His tail flicked as a familiar scent entered his nostrils and he scowled slightly, stumbling over his front paws as he became distracted. His mother again... but this time a strange scent lingered with hers. Who's?

Koy neared and stopped sharply. She saw him, though it had been a while she knew her son better than anyone else. Her heart ached- he was so big. Koy looked back at her mate for comfort before moving in to talk to her son.

“Hey…”

She spoke out, unable to say much else.

The scent of another filled Chardon's nose, as well, and his ears stood straighter to listen for the sound of pawprints on the sand nearby. An intruder sneaking up on them would never do, he thought, until Koy spoke out. His gaze followed his mates and his eyes narrowed at the newcomer.

He looked distinctly like Koy, yet at the same time, not at all. He tripped over his own feet and the splash of blue on his fur made him stand out even more.

Chardon wouldn't say anything to this youngster. Yet. But he nodded at Koy when she looked at him, letting her know that he was here for her, and for only her.

He didn't have enough time to escape, to avoid his mother like he usually did. He cursed under his breath when he realized also that he was completely alone, and there was no one here that would make Koy feel awkward. Though part of him was quite pleased his mother was so persistent, it made him feel warm and loved. Like hell he'd ever admit that out loud, of course.

His golden eyes swept past his mother though and moved onto the male standing a bit of the ways off, and he could immediately feel a slow frown forming on his lips. His mother hadn't been in the company of another male since he was born, that he could remember anyhow. He was the only male in her life and he couldn't help but feel immense jealousy toward the other, but it was something he would need to suppress.

His ears flicked at his mother's greeting and he turned toward her. "What do you want?" His tone was stiff, but it held no emotion. He was being childish, but he wasn't trying to be hurtful. He was trying to make it clear that he wasn't pleased with her though!

She winced at his words.

“I wish you wouldn’t talk to me like that.”

Her tone seemed so faint. Koy stopped and stood still as she gazed at her son with longing eyes.

“You have grown quite a bit. You look well…”

Again, it was so very hard to talk to him with the way he was.

“I’m gad Vi has been taking care of you when I couldn’t.”

She sighed. She WAS trying.

Chardon's eyes narrowed even more at her son's words. You'd think that instead of harsh and hurtful, a son would be glad to see his mother after a long time. But no, the arrogant cub insisted on being childish.

He stepped up beside Koy and offered his huge bulk as both intimidating and for comforting Koy.

"I'd watch your mouth if I were you, cub," he warned quietly after Koy's quiet plea. "She may not have raised you, but she is still your mother nonetheless, and that is no way to treat her."

Sure dahabu wasn't looking at Koy, in fact he was blatantly staring in the opposite direction of her at this point, but he was staying. He had wanted to see his mother, he obviously was just too stupid to act in the proper way toward her. He was supposed to be mad at her, even if his needy feelings over ruled his anger they just weren't 'right' just then.

His gaze flicked to the side but he didn't fully look as his mother announced her displeasure with his words. Sometimes he wished he didn't say such things too. "If wishes were wings there would be no reason for gods, mm?" He said smoothly enough, then snorted as if he thought the situation was extremely amusing. He cursed himself silently in his mind as he finally realized what an a** he was being. He hadn't seen Koy- no his mother, in what felt like ages. Be nice he reminded himself... it wasn't like she was Ki, he didn't have to build up walls to keep her from finding out what he really felt... did he?

Just as she brought up Vi, just as he was deciding to behave himself, just as he was turning to look at Koy... well the only thing his eyes caught sight of were the large male at his mother's side now. Instantly he dropped the notion of playing nice with his mother as the male jumped up to defend his mother. Who the hell did this guy think he was? He scowled, feeling more immature by the second. "And I'd watch your mouth, elder." He spat the words right back out, though his body language had become quite defensive and unsure. "You have nothing to do with this matter. You know nothing of being abandoned by your mother and left with such a psycho for a mother, do you?" His eyebrows shot up as he asked this, seeming as if he was actually interested in the answer.

He felt a little bad for calling Vi a psycho but... well she wasn't very fair to her boys, and that included him whenever he stayed over at the cave. She treated them so weakly! He couldn't stand it, she didn't even baby them... she just treated them as if they were very delicate and had some sort of disease. And Ki on the other paw... she got all of her mother's attention. Well.. that was how it was in the beginning. He'd been spending less and less time with that family as he realized his true feelings for Ki; it was confusing for the boy.

"Mom, what are you even doing... bring some strange guy with you when you come here?" He growled out softly as he turned away from the stranger and back to his mother. He was trying to hid it, but the jealousy came out full on. Besides, she probably brought him because Dah had been rather good at avoiding her.

Koy’s ears dropping as her son spoke, she could feel her heart race with disbelief.

“He is here with me because I wanted him to meet my son.”

She spoke very slowly and softly, now unsure of this whole thing.

“I wanted to show him my beautiful son.”

Tears swelled up in her eyes.

“But it looks like he isn’t here anymore; it looks like he left me a long time ago.”

Chardon scowled right back at the youngster. How immature could one be? This boy was almost at the age of an adult, and he was throwing a tantrum like a cub.

"Yes, actually, I do know the feeling of being abandoned by my mother," he said drily. "And my father. But I had the grace of being raised by a pride that loved my sister and I, and we grew up significantly happier than you. Perhaps that is why I hold so much more respect for others than yourself, but that's a hopeful assumption on my part."

His nose quivered at the scent of tears on the air; why oh why did girls have to cry? It was the worst thing. Ever. Chardon turned to comfort Koy, his back and side facing Dahabu as he nuzzled her gently.

"There is nothing for you here, love. We can leave." His words were quiet and gentle.

Crap, she was beginning to cry! It was in his nature to feel horribly guilty for making his own mother cry, regardless that he was trying to justify himself in his own mind. She was the one that left him! Still, he wasn't used to tears. Ki didn't cry... Vi was a strong lioness, he'd never even seen her look sad. Just pissy... her boys didn't cry either, even if they were sissies. Actually, the last time he'd seen someone cry... his eyes widened slightly when he realized the last time it had been his mother too... it was a long time ago. It was when she was giving him to Vi... well not giving him exactly. She was asking her best friend to look after him... to take care of him until she could. The memory pushed even more guilt into his heart.

He could feel a lump growing in his throat, he looked away. The nature of sadness was horrible, it seemed to press in from all sides and it truly seemed to be an unavoidable emotion.

As the other male continued to speak it was like a smack in Dahabu's face... his words had backfired on him. He was selfish to act as if everyone but himself had a normal youth. s**t, s**t s**t! How did he fix this sort of thing? His ear flicked at the male's last words, quiet and hard to hear. Hard to listen to, also. Nothing... was he supposed to be considered nothing to his mother? "No, don't!" He growled out, though his voice was full of anguish.

He wanted to shove past the still unknown male... his mother's new mate? The jealousy seemed to flood his stomach, churning in discomfort. She really had replaced him... no, what was he thinking? She had been coming all this time to try and fix things with him and he just went off to continue his sulking. Truly he was very selfish...

"He-" His voice sounded choked, as if he wanted to cry too. Would things have been easier or harder if that adult wasn't also here? "He's still here mom.." He said quietly, almost in a guarded manner as if he was trying to block his words from Chardon and only let his mother hear them... which was truly impossible. Don't leave me again.. was all that he could think.

Still, part of him knew that though Koy was the one that left him in the care of Vi it wasn't really her that had left him, it was just how she'd said, it was the son that had left the mother... lost his belief in her goodness and pureness.

“Dah.”

Koy cooed and moved a bit closer, pushing away from her mate. She needed him to know, Koy needed Dah to know how she felt, and how much she missed him- loved him.

“I never meant to harm you, but when you were small I was an unfit mother, I never meant to wrong you. I am so very sorry for the damage I did. I know how hard it must have been.”

She sighed, gazing at him brightly.

“I love you, my son, and if you give me the chance I’d like to try again. I want you in my life. I want you in my life.”

Chardon frowned, off on the sidelines once again. He wasn't complaining about his current position. Rather, he was concerned for his mate. It seemed that this Dahabu could very easily use his mother and manipulate her to his advantage. Chadon didn't want that to happen. But he remained still, waiting until needed.

He had tried to help and that had backfired. So now he just waited until summoned. Perhaps that will work better.

Char wasn't sure what to think of this new development: if Koy wanted her son back in her life, it was not his right to disagree with her. Dahabu was from her past and hers only; she controlled what happened because of it. If it was decided that they would live together as a happy family, then so be it. Chardon would learn to treat Dahabu like a son--or at least an older friend/advisor. If not...so be it.

But he would stand by Koy's decision no matter what it was.

Dah saw how easily her mother moved away from the male and his comforting.. was he just a friend? No, it would be foolish to think in such a way. It was obvious enough to realize he must be a mate if she wanted to introduce him to a son she wasn't even on good terms with. He stared at her and the feeling of crying that had so quickly washed over his mind began to ebb away when it was clear she wasn't going anywhere.

And even though he felt guilty he could also feel a flash of anger at her for leaving him with Vi.. Koy may have been unfit but he couldn't see how she thought Vi was any better of a mother figure. It was more or less like he'd raised himself... "It wasn't... the best environment for me there, either." He said slowly and stiffly. Still, he had made good friends of Vi's boys... and a best friend out of Ki. Though that hurt his heart more than anyone could know... "I... I get why you did it mom... but.." He trailed off looking slightly agitated and frustrated. He didn't want to make her start crying again though so he decided to just let it go.

His ears flicked backwards awkwardly when she said she loved him so easily... and in front of that male, too! Didn't she know things like that were embarrassing? Dah just thought of this because Vi's family hardly ever used the term... in fact, he wasn't sure he'd ever heard Vi use it in front of him. It was understandable to him though, that was what felt normal. He took a deep breath and sighed, looking away slowly. Bad idea, his eyes landed on Chardon and he scowled slightly. Part of him wanted to boast that the other male hadn't stolen his mother's heart completely, obviously, or she would have just left. Part of him wanted to accept her offer just to piss the male off, he had no clue why he was feeling so extremely jealous of the male. Spending time with his mother.. right, he'd never gotten much time with Koy. "I never wanted you out of my life.." He said, raising his voice so she could hear him instead of keep on muttering.

He says that, even though he's spent so many moons avoiding her... what a stubborn boy. "I.... I wouldn't mind starting over though." He said slowly, looking back to her. He wasn't doing this to irk Chardon, of course. He really had truly missed and needed his mother over all this time. His tail flicked softly and he frowned, gaze dropping to his overly large paws. "I'm afraid I'd been rather... obnoxious of late. I just... don't really know how to deal with all of this." It was all horribly confusing to the male, was all.

(Oh poor chardon ;-; LOL Dah is a b*****d, already has it out for the fellow ;-; -pets him-)
