.:|Welcome|:. Welcome to yet another basket roleplay contest! Your hosts this round are myself, Lady Evelyn Nyht, and Malhyanth. This is a very close-knit family and so we don't want someone to just win and we never see the child again (what would your mother think if you left without another word). That means you have to play an active part in this family and community. This isn't something that will be easily looked over, we will hunt you down if you poof without an explanation.
Okay, so on to the more pleasant section of this contest. ^^;
This contest is open to anyone and everyone. So you can be a complete newb to the world of Soquili or have a kajillion Soquili. We just want the bundle of joy to go to a good home (and hopefully have a happier life than Vidia's currently).
Below you can find all the information you need about the family. It would be prudent of you to read over all the information so you know just what you're getting into and don't answer blindly.
When you win, we'll be attacking either via PM or IM. So make sure you take a very deep breath after you squeal your head off when we announce the winner.

.:|Rules|:. o1. Eve and Hyanth are god of this contest. We'll be reading all the applications, we will decide on who gets the basket. So no arguing with us. X-D
o2. No whining, begging, or any thing that will elect self-pity for the basket. We don't even want to see it in the main thread (and Eve does back-read). If anyone does, automatic null and void entrance. This is a fun experience, let's keep it that way.
o3. If you have any questions, please post them in thread. I'm sure many of the others have the same one or would like to see the answers.
o4. No co-owning or gifting the Soquili if you win. We're grading your style, not your friend's when you enter, so we wanted to roleplay with you. If they want a Soquili, direct them to the contest!
o5. And lastly, follow the rules of the shop and the rules and ToS of Gaia.

Ever Sacrifice
Ever had been a wanderer since she was a little foal until she met her two-legger, Evening Night. She is a cheerful, understanding mare and is always more than willing to help those in need. With her children, she's a very nurturing mother but knows that you have to give them space to fly on their own (sometimes quite literally). She loves her mate, Tawali, often calling him her heart. She's learned that you can't chain a Wind to your side and keeps his feathers with her at all time because "a Wind knows where all his feathers lie!"
She will be a large part of the children's lives. 
Tawali
Tawali is often described, even by himself, as a 'Wild Child'; a cocky, energetic Soquili that is often off and wandering around the realm by himself. However this changed a little when he met Ever Sacrifice. Despite still of roaming, he now has a home to return to, calling Ever his 'Sky Eyes' in his native tongue.
His love for Ever is unrivaled by any, and for his daughters, it is almost parallel. He spent many of their foalhood days teaching Uwoduhi'Suli to fly, while Ever taught Vidia the basic of grounded Soquili life. He returned as much as his wandering heart would allow, but his gift to all his family members is one of his wing feathers, a strong newly mature feather plucked forcefully from his wings. He claims a Wind knows exactly where his feathers lie, and by keeping his feathers close, he will always find them again.
Tawali's old life is known very little, but what is known by his family is that he was exiled from his old herd, the feather's of which he still carries, and that he has been followed south by his old rival, one Wild Wind. These two have a long running rivalry that has threatened the stability of their familial herd, and it doesn't look set to stop any time soon. 
Uwoduhi'Suli
A light-hearted, winged beauty that doesn't seem to realise her potential, 'Suli is a grounded Soquili trapped forever in a Wing body. Her only wish in life is to be able to give her sister Vidia her wings, to swap places with her sister and be the one that is bound to the earth, so that Vidia can spend her days soaring with their father. 'Suli's run in with Wild Wind proved catastrophic in her reasoning about her life as it is, and has caused her to remain grounded, despite her obvious ability. The longer she spends grounded, the less able she is to fly for long periods of time. She will dote on the foals, being around to talk to and play with once they come out of their baskets and to be a solid foundation to come to when the parents get too much. 
Vidia
Vidia has always believed that she is the lesser of the daughters in her father's eyes because he took her sister who had wings and wasn't often at home. She is extremely shy towards other Soquili outside of her immediate and adopted family, which causes her to stutter and be unable to look anyone in the eye. But after she met her father's rival, Wild Wind, she is a broken mare that tends to avoid the social coo at all costs.
She met a young stallion by the name of Althalus and he was able to boost her confidence enough to be happy that she was more like her mother in many ways. When her mother told her the news that she was pregnant again, Vidia saw her world crumble around her and feared that she'd be replaced and forgotten by Ever like Tawali had seemed to do, so she disappeared from the riverside clearing and hasn't been seen since.
She won't be around during the growing stages of her siblings, but her mother will probably talk often about her. . neutral Other Soquili|:. 
Wild Wind
He is a very pompous and prideful Wind that holds a prejudice against the Regular Soquili and places Winds on an exalted pedestal. He grew up in the same herd as Tawali and was the one that got him banished from the lands. Now that he's traveled to this lands, he feels it's his duty to be the personal thorn in his rival's side. So far the heavens have blessed him with a Wind herd that is protected by a stallion of similar mindset, has a wonderful mate in the protector's daughter, and two beautifully winged daughters.
He may make a cameo appearance to see if he can plant further seeds of doubt in Tawali and Ever's disgraceful abominations. Roleplays

.:|The Prompts|:. There are two prompts that you can use to answer. To make it easier for us to decide, we'd like for you to pick only one and you may only edit if you're making error corrections. Please don't add/delete any sentences, thank you.
Since we don't know the gender of the foal, you are free to RP it by either sex that you are most comfortable with for the following prompts. You are allowed to name the basket as well, but currently Ever and Tawali have two other children (Uwoduhi'Suli and Vidia). You're more than welcome to make it Lakota or Cherokee like Hyanth has done with the middle child (Tsis'Dihi). But none of this will sway our choice when judging.
Please keep god-modding of existing characters down to a minimum. The following Soquili you are allowed to use in your responses: Wild Wind, Tawali, and Uwoduhi'Suli. Please refer to the Flaxen Wing Family and Other Soquili post for more information.

On the one hand, your energetic father Tawali loves flying, and is often away for days on end just floating on the breezes, but your older sister, Uwoduhi'Suli, prefers to stay on the ground with your mother. Confused by these strange differences, you approach 'Suli and decide to ask her about it. What do you say, and how do you take the news that she believes herself a Grounded stuck in a Winged body? Are you of a similar disposition, or do you believe you should be the owner of such wings? Do you think her strange for this point of view, or justified? Maybe it is the mix of blood that has caused this strange clash of views? Prompt 2 Your parents haven't said much about dad's rival, Wild Wind, but your big sis, 'Suli told you about the chance encounter she had with him before you were born. She pretty much voiced the same opinion of your parents that he's trouble and not worth looking for. But what you don't know is that Wild Wind used live with your mother and knows your stomping grounds near Evening Night's two-legger.
You're off playing by the family tree near the riverside when a shadow seems to flicker across the sunlight. Before you know it, you're standing right in front of a great medicine hat paint who seems to be sneering at you behind his grin and bi-colored eyes. He tells you that you don't have a hoof to stand on in either the Wind or the Horse races and you're another abomination to your parents' record.
How do you take this? Do you stand up for your family or will the doubt seed take root?

Foal's Name: Zyanya
Foal's Gender: Female
Prompt: 2
Zyanya danced under the family tree, trying to knock down leaves, and eventually opted to fly up a short distance to try. She couldn't fly far enough and tumbled to the ground. "Oof!" she said.
Suddenly a shadow crossed the sun and she looked around as she got to her feet. A medicine hat stallion had landed in front of her and was sneering with his bi-colored eyes. "So you're one of the tainted offspring of Ever Sacrifice and Tawali. I should stomp an abomination like you down before you contaminate the skies. Besides, you don't even have a hoof to stand on in either the noble Wind or the...horse...races," he spat. His voice had the same twang as her father's voice.
This mean stallion must be the mean stallion Wild Wind that 'Suli had told her about and warned her to stay away from. This attitude made something inside Zyanya snap and she drew herself up as tall as she could, and snorted, "You're just a mean old stallion who's more talk than action. No wonder other Soquili hate you." She looked him in the eye. Suddenly, nothing about this stallion was impressive, just...demented.
The stallion flattened his ears to his skull. "Listen here, you tainted foal, no horse is as good as a true, pureblood Wind!"
Zyanya snorted. "Then I guess that you're as bad as me, because pure you may be, but true you are not and never will be." This anger and standing up to someone who she'd heard was so mean to her family exhilarated her. This stallion had no rights, no matter what, to insult her family.
The stallion looked deeply offended and glared at Zyanya, who only stood taller and whose gaze became steadier in the face of her father's rival. "I don't have time to consort with such a lowborn abomination as you," he growled. Wild Wind turned and arrogantly took off into flight, swishing his tail and tossing his head proudly and angrily as he did so.
Zyanya watched him go, and pride welled up in her heart. She'd stood up to Wild Wind! She'd stood up for her family! He wouldn't be so tough anymore, would he, now that Zyanya was there for her family! Flicking her short tail in triumph and carrying it high with pride, she turned and walked back to where the rest of her family was. No one would insult her family now that they had Zyanya!

I shoot a glare at the paint before me before giving a snort and tossing my pink mane while I come up with a response and say in a quiet voice, "An abomi...abomin...abomination?" I think for a minute before responding, "If I'm a...whatever that is, then I'm proud to be one and I'm gonna be the best I can be for my family. That why I'll make Mama and Papa proud."
My right forehoof paws at the ground, "As for the races....well we shall see. I hold my head up proudly and shake my mane, my blue eyes twinkling with pride. "I don't care what you or anybody else thinks. I'm proud of my family. Nobody will ever change that." Turning away from the paint I trot past him and dip my head for a cool drink of the crystal blue water, fully ignoring him as I do.
The stallion snorts and tosses his mane before wheeling and galloping away. I couldn't wait to tell 'Suli, Mama, and Papa about what I did. I felt confident that they would be happy with the way I stood up to the stallion, who I was sure by now was the one called Wild Wind. I made my way back to the family tree and went back to playing as I had been before being interrupted.

Shoteka lowered her head a little to the larger male. His facial expression made her nervous, she backed away a little, her ears twitching. She had heard about him from her older sister. She knew there was no way she could out run him, or fight him. What was he talking about? She knew her sisters had some issues, but who didn’t? This guy was making them sound horrible. She rolled her eyes a little listening to him. She was an abomination? He seemed to be the only one that had an issue with the family… Her shoulders rolled a little, she was slightly frightened because she wasn’t all that sure what he was capable of. But who was he to show up and say such things about her family? “Who are you to say such things? You’re the one that spends all your time here, trying to upset and ruin the lives of my family. Maybe you’re the one with the real issue.” She stated to him matter of factly. She waited for the laugh, or the possible aggression. She turned her head to him, her green eyes staring.”Maybe you should go anf get your own life, and leave my family alone.” She shook her head. Sure, she was still developing, and the insults on her person were a bit harsh. But no one else could tell her, who she was but herself. She saw what the confusing of self did for her sisters, and she wanted no part in something like that. *she snuffed at him, she would be self confident. Shaking her head some, “Don’t you have your own family? Maybe you should be spending more time with them, rather then here. Hm?“ She stomped her foot into the ground. Drowning out anything further he had to say, and she headed back home.

"No one ever wants to explain things to me..."
The young filly grumbled, she didn't understand why her sister Suli wanted to stay with mother when she had such beautiful wings, and every time she tried to ask her mother or father their response had always been the same, "Oh Immokalie don't worry about it...she'll fly when she's ready" well she wanted to know the reason not just a silly when she's ready. She had wings of course...she needed to know if there was something to worry about up in the air or not. Looking around making sure her mother and father wasn't around to chastise her for asking questions such as this of her sister she trotted up to Suli and finally asked her,
"Suli? Why don't you like to fly? Is there something scary in the skies?"
She sat and listened intently to her sister, about how she was torn, she had the wings and the ability but would rather stay on the ground that she felt more at peace and comfortable on the ground. That a wind doesn't always have to roam far from the ground where their feet were stable and planted firmly. Cocking her head to the side Immokalie looked confused, she wasn't sure how to exactly understand all that Suli had just told her. Laying down under the shade of a tree near Suli and her other siblings she sat thinking out loud about what had just been said.
"Could it be that since mother is a ground I will feel the same way once I learn to fly..."
Looking at the sky longing,
"But why does that happen, I want for nothing else but to feel that nice cool air upon my face, to see the sights from around me up there. And yet...Suli had all of that, she had father by her side and she was able to feel the sky touch the sky and be there and yet, she feels at peace on the ground."
She didn't think fondly of the ground, she had been a clumsy child when it came to running around, which gave her great excitement when she learned she would be able to fly about, there wasn't anything to trip over in the skies. She mused over the idea of being torn in two, where a part of her was like Suli and wanted to stay near their mother's side and be grounded and yet a bigger parter of her wanted to take to the skies and roam like father. Sighing softly she decided that it was blood, the blood of her mother that would always make the children long for home, for the smell of the grass. Smiling at her sister she could at least understand her view, but for her the skies would always be calling. Running to catch up with her siblings she decided it wouldn't be an issue any time soon and spending time with her family could be better spent then worrying about reasons that were beyond her control.
