This RP is for Evelyn_Nyht's Ever Sacrafice and Malhyanth's Tawali. They are near the river in the south of the lands, by the lake. ~*~*~ The water looked so inviting, its clear blue depths twinkling in the summer sunlight. Looking around from his vantage point up in the sky, Tawali fluttered his rep tipped wings a few more times, hovered a little longer before he started a slow decent. His pale tan hide and red markings made him stick out like a sore thumb both in the sky and on the ground, and after the wolf attack that scarred his eye, he took no chances when there were clearly no other Soquili around. Dipping low over the water, wing tips catching the surface of the glassy liquid and starting off ripples as he rose, flapping a few times and landing gracefully on the beach of the lake, surrounded behind by trees, the water behind him and a thin spit of sand backing onto the grass that preceeded the waters edge.
Cyan green eyes peered around, and seeing nothing beyond the trees, Tawali turned to the water and waded in up to his body, wings spreading on the top, dipping his head down to take a deep drink. He was so hot, and the cold lake water made him calm and serene, though he hoped he wouldn't need to fly too soon, as his wings were now soping, and he would have only the option to run until his feathers dried. Dipping all of his face into the water, Tawali blew bubbles from his nostrils and then walked slowly toward the lake beach again, wings flapping to get rid of the excess water. His braided tail was heavy and dark with water, and he flicked it about to try and dry it a little. The beads clicked together, but the feather was too wet to do much but stick to the wet strands of hair. Whickering softly, Tawali started to trot at a slow speed around the lake, then turned and trotted back. He was bored. He had nobody to muck about with! Aeris was away with her two-legger and that weird racoon thing, Reno. The others he knew, he hadn't seen in days! That was the bad thing about being a Wind Soquili, you travelled a lot, and those with no wings couldn't follow!
Sighing, Tawali stopped his trotting and looked around cautiously once more before bowing his head and starting to munch on the lush grass that grew around the lake. It was cool, filling and tasty, and it was just what Tawali needed before taking off on another flight. Perhaps he would return to that river up north where he had last seen Aeris. That had been fun... Eating his fill, Tawali shook his wings again and looked around, cyan green eyes topped with a frown of his blood red eyebrows. Man, where were all the Soquili? He was in the lands of plenty, and yet he hadn't met any Soquili for ages! And the Soquili he HAD met were all female! Typical! Where was the male rough and tumble? Where were the races between Stallions trying to best each other? Obviously somewhere Tawali had yet to find, either that, or they were avoiding him! Sighing again, Tawali lay himself down in the heated light of the sun, closing his cyan green eyes, but keeping a sharp ear open for possible attack.

The forest was calming with the sounds of birds singing in the branches to one another basically seeming to ask when and who they would join to leave for the coming winter. But they quieted down as a chestnut red mare carefully walked in the cool shade. Her coat twitched as the low hanging leaves and branches touched her back and sides.
Ever enjoyed the quiet of the forest. It had been here that she meet her two-legger and it felt very much like home to her. The trees started to thin out a bit and soon her light blue eyes saw the sparkling water of a lake in a clearing. Her troat seemed dry and she made her way out cautiously, looking about and noting a tan and red colored mass laying down a little ways away from her.
She moved towards the water first, soaking her front hooves passed the white socks and almost up to the small band of black, so it would not be that much of a reach to quench her thirst. She pulled her head up a bit and looked at the form, water dripping down her chin. She shook herself, her pale yellow mane becoming a mess and then took a few steps towards him.
She saw that he was indeed a Soquili but one very different from what she had meet. So far, she only knew her current mates that were visiting their two-leggers at a teepee they shared and they were all female. She sniffed the air a bit, catching his scent and then took a very deep breath before speaking. "Pleasant afternoon, isn't it? I don't think we've meet. My name is Ever Sacrafice. I hope I am not disturbing you."

The birds above had masked all approach of the mare that now stood to the side of him, and Tawali had no idea she stood there, listening to the faint whistles and calls of the birds, wondering when they would be starting to leave there summer abodes and whether he would join them again, like he had the year before. He had had no one to be with here, in these lands last year, but now he seemed quite popular with the females, a year older, a little wiser, a little more handsome maybe. He was a special Soquili. There certainly weren't that many Wind Soquili around by his reckoning, or at least, he had only met one, and that hadn't been much of a meeting, more of a 'Tawali-scare-new-guy' thing. The soft voice startled him out of his brooding, and with a agressive grunt, had launched himself to his feet and was glaring at the mare, wings spread, ready to attempt to fly, though his wings were too wet still.
"What do you think you are playing at you silly mare!!" He breathed heavily, cyan green eyes almost huming with anger at her silliness. Did she not know that wolves lived in these areas, and she had nearly scared him out of his skin? Obviously not! Lowering his wings and relaxing his posture, Tawali looked her over. She was quite young, or at least, appeared to be young, and her colouring was a startling russet red, her pale pale mane complimenting her colouring nicely. Her legs were banded, and they looked stunning. Her icy blue eyes were stunningly clear in her russet face, and Tawali calmed himself enough to attempt to speak once more.
"Forgive me, lady, you startled me." He swallowed hard and attempted an apologetic smile. "I was attacked by wolves near to here, and sudden movements when I'm least expecting them make me jumpy, that and I wasn't paying attention. I apologise again, lady." He shook out his short, blood red mane and smiled again. "What did you say your name was? I am Tawali, aptly named, for it means Wild. None have yet tamed me, though many have tried!" He winked slowly at her, his wings tucking in close to his side, the red tips still dark with water, his braided tail steaming gently as the sun heated his body. "May I compliment you, lady, on a stunning visage this summer morning! I think I am yet to meet one so radiant as yourself!"

She took a few steps back when he moved to stand up. She looked to the side wondering what she had done wrong until she heard his voice calm and turn apologetic. There was slight worry in her eyes as she looked back at him and softly spoke her name once more to him, "I am called Ever Sacrafice by my two-legger."
Like it wouldn't be noticeable with her already red coat, she blushed at the compliment. She was flattered, but kept her voice calm as she spoke to him again. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Tawali. That is a very fitting name for you and rolls nicely on the tongue. I have never met anyone with wings before, so far I only know two mares. I'm rather new to this area."
She turned her head away again, feeling like a nervous filly who was rambling too much to hide it. The last thing she wanted to come of as was rude again. She flicked her long flax tail idly, cooling herself off a bit from the heat. "It must be thrilling to run with the wind high in the air."

Tawali smiled and nodded, taking in her name and filing it away for later use. She really was a beauty, and her sweet temperament sung its own praises for her. She was similar to Aeris in that respect, and Tawali was immediately drawn to her. Smiling more broadly, he nodded his head a few times, mane bouncing with its own kind of life.
"Ever Sacrafice? Odd name... I don't think I understand it... And wow! You know Cherokee?! So few Soquili seem to around here! I'm so glad to have met one that understands!" He whickered happily, tail flicking his sides and eyes twinkling with excitement. "I am a Wind Soquili, quite rare in these parts, for even I have only met one other, and that was here! It is a wonder to fly with the birds! I flew with them to their winter roostings last year, it was beautiful! This year though, I believe I will stay where I am, I quite like these parts now, grown to love them, though some of the Soquili I have met haven't been all that pleasent." He frowned and pushed the memories of others out of his mind. He should concentrate on this mare, here and now. She seemed to like him, and that was important, as few did.
"Well, Ever Sacrafice! Where is your calling? If mine is the sky, you must have a favoured place too!"

She pawed at the ground, causing the grass and the dirt to be dug up and tossed away under her. She was extremely nervous and there was no call for it. Of course, this was the third Soquili she had meet in the last few weeks.
Ever smiled as he talked on about flying with the birds and she couldn't help but prance with her front hooves in glee. She loved listening to the birds from early morning until the late evening. One that she admired the most was the Mocking Bird who would sing all the tunes he knew and even those that weren't of his feather. "That sounds so exciting. I know I'll never get to experience, but I can still dream." She sighed, her mind going off in her own little world with her imagination.
She shook her head a bit and smiled again brightly at him. Was there anywhere that she really loved that she could call her own? The only thing she enjoyed greatly was the forest. "I find the forest to be my sancuary. Even though I love to run, the forest seems so much more soothing to me. There are many dangers, but I enjoy listening to the sounds around me. It's very relaxing for me. And I guess this place is special to me because I meet my owner in the forest near the northern part of the river."

The stallion smiled and looked out to the silver blue waters of the lake, the still water reflecting the summer sky, and Ever's eyes. Wow, he should really stop admiring her, he would get in trouble with Aeris if he wasn't careful! A gentle nod bent his neck and his cyan green eyes looked to Ever and he smiled at her, an understanding of her in his face.
"The forest is beautiful, within and above." He liked the sight of a forest from above, the different types of trees that had different shades of green to their leaves and made a patchwork of green. It was nice. Tawali shook his wings, the water having dried but stuck some of the threads of the feather together. His feathers poofed out, and he itched to do some trotting. He looked to Ever, a smirk tilting his mouth.
"You love to run, as do I! Come on! Let us take a run around the lake!"

She tossed her head a bit, bobbing it with a nicker. "Certainly. You aren't living if you're standing still for too long," she said with a wink before she swished her tail and went on ahead of him. She laughed playfully and turned her head a bit to look back at him before picking up a bit of speed.
Her tail was up a bit so she wouldn't accidentally stomp on the longer lengths and they blew back with the slight speed she was going. Her forelock had moved out of the way to show the small white star on her forehead until she looked back once more to call over, "Are you sure you can keep up? Or are you just admiring my dust?" She laughed again.

Tawali chuckled, took three long strides and snapped out his wings, passing over the top of her head by mere millimeters to land infront of her, legs continuing to run as though he hadn't taken off into the air and had simply been infront all along. His laughter echoed around the wall of trees and he shook out his short red mane and lifted his braided tail to fan like a banner behind him. His gait was bouncy, as though relaxed and not working all that hard, yet it was a mile eating lope, and he looked most comfortable, keeping his speed a little ahead of hers.
"Are you sure, lady? It would appear you liked mine!" His laughter rung out again and he opened his wings, using them to sweep to the left and right, like a small child would when playing aeroplanes. His face was a look of child-like glee as he did so, and his cyan green eyes twinkled with happiness as he made an imitation of the way deer skipped along when startled, legs together as he jumped high, head swerving to each side as though listening to his own music and enjoying the freedom of the sky. "Oh the joy of the run! I do prefer it when there isn't a large herd all running. Too much noise and you can't focus on any one sound!" He spun and reared onto his hind legs, walking backwards in a showy manner before lowering himself and running past Ever and into the shallow water, splashing like a foal as he ran. The spray of water made small rainbows twinkle around his long legs and he pranced in and out of the water as he ran, as though weaving through tall tree trunks, in and out, in and out.

Ever laughed out loud, "Now how was that fair? You gain the lead by air." She continued to laugh, stretching her legs a bit further. She had a very smooth gait, her back staying almost even in the lope. She wasn't pushing herself all that hard to keep up with him.
His antics made her laugh again, watching his wings spread out and wave from side to side. He reminded her of the birds flying through the air, tilting from side to side to catch the right air current to just simply glide. It was wonderous to watch, but still had it's humor.
"Everything you do brings laughter. Never allow for a dull moment," she said again giggling. She snorted and shook her head a bit as she walked backwards before her. He was an interesting character, alright. But before she knew it, he was shooting passed her again. Droplets of water came raining down on her, making spots of her coat a bit dark.
Her light blue eyes twinkled and soon she was bounding high in the air towards the water like a doe. She stomped hard in the water, creating a large wave and started to repeat what Tawali was doing. "Following the leader, the leader, the leader," she sang to herself behind him.

Tawali yelped when the wave of water rushed around him, turning a mock frown on Ever, though the large grin ruined the effect completely, and he eventually laughed out loud as the wave spread out across the surface of the lake and she followed him, copying his movements. He thought for a moment of a new way of running, and turned, rearing up and walking backward, flailing his forelegs as though boxing, and bunny hoped backwards slowly and carefully. He certainly didn't want to fall over and damage his legs, or even worse, his wings. Lowering again with a gleeful chuckle, his cyan green eyes twinkled as he looked out across the water, the last of the ripples fading away.
"Never ever never! No dullness when the Wild Child is around!" He made a proud face at his statement. "I make sure that all my friends are happy! I do not accept sad faces in my presence! Never ever never!" He chuckled and flapped his wings, water flecks flying out of the tan and red feathers. He made a contemplative face and slapped his wet tail against his side, sending a spray of water in an arc straight onto Ever's side. "Haha! New game!" He cried, flicking his tail a few more times, the heavy water logged braids making large arcs of water that he aimed at Ever, the beads clacking a little as the tail swished out, Tawali's laughter echoing out.
"C'mon Ever! You have a longer tail then me! You could absolutely soak me!"

She attempted to mimick him without walking backwards but was only able to stand on her rear hooves, boxing at the air for all of ten seconds. "Ooof," she said with a giggle.
Ever yelped as water flew at her, creating more dark spots on her flanks. It was really cold feeling to her since her dark fur attracted so much heat and kept it bottled up well. Good for the winter, but not for the summer. "So you want to play that game, eh," she said eyeing him playfully. She moved out a little further into the water, but making sure it was still close enough that it would be fair for him to still reach her with his sprays of water.
She flicked her tail against her side, sending large water droplets out towards Tawali. When they left dark marks on his tan hide, she giggled and kept up the game. "No sad faces among friends? I think we are doing fine then to keep your status up." She winked at him before one ear perked to a sound out in the woods. They pulled back and she turned her attention from him to the woods, staring across the water to see what might come out or if it was just a small portion of her imagination.

The stallion was about to retaliate when he noted the alarmed look on his playmates features and he stopped dead, ears perked foreward as he looked from Ever to the woods, eyes topped by a frown as he tried to figure out what had caught her attention. One ear flicked back and he slowly backed out of the water so the dripping of his tail into the water was not so loud. His cyan green eyes looked suspiciously around, his mood and attitude changed as he started to worry at what Ever had heard.
"What is it?" He whispered, snorting, trying to get a scent other then water, dirt, Ever and trees. It wasn't working, and his muscles tensed. The wind must be against them if he couldn't smell anything else. "Did you hear something?" Tawali lowered his head, eyes pinpointed on the area Ever had looked to. "Should I go over there and look? I could fly and not worry about whatever it is catching me..." His cyan green eyes looked at Ever. He wasn't sure if she would be fast enough to escape wolves if they had found them here, and he didn't want to leave her and they attack. He felt like a big brother when with Ever, she was so sweet and she loved to play almost as much as he did! She was great! If she was hurt by this threat, he'd never forgive himself! "Why don't you make your way to somewhere safe? I'll watch your back!"

Ever Sacrafice hesistated, taking one step in the opposite direction before staying stock still. Her light blue eyes followed the movement in the woods and her ears perked forward again before pinning once more flat on her head.
She walked over to Tawali and nuzzled him quickly before speaking softly to him. "I think it would be best to flee. And flee now. I might be able to out run them and I'll use the water to make them lose my scent. Take to the sky and look for me. Hopefully, they will be able to lose heart in the chase."
Her fur seemed to be shaking, her flanks quaking a bit with the fear that danger was so near after such a joyful play time. The shadows moved again in the tree line and she took off in the opposite direction, running at full sprint through the trees. Her flaxen mane and tail flew out behind her and she picked up pace, stretching as much as she could to gain more ground. "Find me," she called over her shoulder before she broke through the trees, leaping and galloping over the rough terrain.
Her hooves made a quick tatoo beat, she felt like they were barely touching the ground she was pushing herself so far. A growl was heard behind her and she barely gave herself time to think of looking back. She could feel her heart beat thundering in her chest. Her feet splashed through water soon, but she kept thundering on towards the clearing and the Kawani Village.

Tawali watched her flee, and slowly followed toward the edge of the forest when the snarl caught his ears. His cyan green eyes widened in fear. It had been wolves that had scarred his left eye when he was younger and even more foolish then he was now. He couldn't leave Ever to run through the forest alone surely! She was fast, but the wolves worked in ambush, and it was dangerous for her to go alone. But the idea of wolves all around scared him, and he didn't want to leave her side and take to the air. It would be cowardly! Sticking his reserve firm, Tawali took to his feet. His wings tucked in close to his side, Tawali thrust through the undergrowth, following the mare's clear pathway and the sound of snarls up ahead.
Please be safe, please be safe! Tawali kept saying over and over in his mind as he crashed through a small stream. The sound of feet were ahead, but they weren't Soquili steps! Snorting, Tawali kicked in extra force and sped up. Ever's gallop was in the distance, a heavy thunder of hooves on the hardened ground. A flash of grey to his left had Tawali snorting more with fear as he continued to run. Bugger! Perhaps he should have taken to the sky! There was no break in the canopy above him, and there wasn't enough space between the tree trunks to spread his wings. Up ahead was a break in the tree trunks, and Tawali could see the glow of eyes watching him. Breaking into the small space, the snap of jaws at his hind quarters made him whinney, and he kicked out his hind legs, feeling one connect with something and continued to run. He needed to find the way out, and his only possiblity was following Ever's trail. He wondered whether she would hear if he called out, but he decided against it, twisting out of the path of a large tree that appeared suddenly. He only just missed it, but it threw off his direction a little.
Standing still to get his bearings, he realised there was light up ahead. Cheering a little, he headed towards it. Obviously his kick had deterred the predators, and he made it to the light with little trouble, but he was now lost. He hadn't been here before, and the large river was fast and dangerous. Tawali frowned at it and looked over his shoulder at the woods. There were faint sounds of pursuit, but if he took to the air now, they would have no chance of following him. Taking his customary three steps and snapping out his wings, Tawali took to the air. He soared up jsut as four wolves appeared from the tree line. That had been a good spot by Ever. He wondered if she had faired as well and he circled up high, following the line of trees, looking for her shape, when the image of a camp came into view. He frowned. She had been headed there? What on earth was she playing at?
It took a while, but he remembered what she had said about a two-legger. She was owned... She lived with a two-legger! She was tame... Tawali sighed. She must have been truely scared if she had run for her two-leg. Snorting, he remained in the sky, keeping an eye on the tree line, hoping she made it out ok.
