This RP is for Evelyn Kyros's Ever Sacrifice and Malhyanth's Tawali.

They are near the river in the south of the lands, by the lake.

User Image The rain had finally left up after the constant downpour that had been plaguing the earth for the last week and a half. The sun was shining brightly and a chestnut red mare could be seen among the baren trees, weaving her way among them towards the glistening lake to the north of her position. The water looked very inviting, though she wasn't sure what condition the water would be in as the rivers overflooded and carried silt down to the ocean.

Ever Sacrifice had not had a decent nights rest after leaving the company of Helaku, Nicole, Inali, Chaser, and Tawali. Her mind was still all a buzz over Tawali. She was so uncertain about where to go with this whole thing. Yes, she did have feelings for the brute, but she did not want to tarnish a friendship like Inali had. Her own words rang true in her head though,
"One never knows when they will be the desire of another. That's why communication is always the key if things are ever to be understood." That was the most frustrating part of the whole ordeal.

Her bracelets made a jiggle sound with every step as she made her way towards the lake. The earrings trailing down the side of her head made an interesting splash of color that drew attention to her icy blue hues. But she wasn't paying attention to her latest additions. She was too busy musing over what he had said to her.
"We mus' talk. There is much we need ta discuss, lady." Yes, they did need to talk. She just didn't know where to find him.

The sound of splashing water soon reached her ears and she felt her hooves sinking into sandy ground and water. She had nearly trodded right into the lake without realizing it. This was where they had last met. It seemed fitting to sit out here and wait for him, with the hope of no interruptions this time.

The wind was drivingly cold, and at such a gale force speed, that not even the Wild One could cope with its harsh speeds, especially not with all that was on his mind at the moment. His feet protested with such a long walk, they hadn't walk so far in all the years he'd been able to fly. They were not used to the forests by foot, only on the wing, and he felt a little disorientated. He kept walking though. Eventually he knew he would find somewhere to rest. He knew he was somewhere south, but he didn't know with the rainclouds still as low as they were. Tawali snorted. Typical, the one time he needed to find someone and the rains set in.

Traipsing through the muddied undergrowth, Tawali caught a whiff of still water. A lake? The southern lake? His ears raised as he heard splashing up ahead and he listened carefully, blocking out the raging wind up above and focused on the sound of started steps in the water. Pushing through the last of the undergrowth, Tawali's head appeared in the large clearing. The wind did not drive across the lake like one would expect, blocked out by the surrounding trees and giving the lake an eerie calmness that chilled Tawali to his very soul. She stood there, beautiful, two versions, one above the still water, one reflected. A most pleasing optical illusion to Tawali and he smiled warmly as he stepped out of the wood, shaking twigs and leaves out of his mane, tail and wings. He picked up pace, running around the edge of the lake, slowing as he neared her, not getting too close incase she wasn't in the mood to talk to him. Lowering his head with a sweet smile, Tawali's eyes glittered.

"He'lo there lady." He murmured quietly, smile small though pleased. "Ah've been lookin' for ya's... We need ta talk, lady... Ah need to know wha's goin' on between us..." He frowned a little, eyes lowering from her, turning away and looking at his rippling reflection in the lake. "Ah... Ah wanna know's wha' ya thinkin'... Wha' ya thinkin' a'me?" He swallowed hard, slowly looking back up at her. "Ah wanna say Ah's sorry for dis'pearin' so sudden like, bu'h Ah had t'urge, ya know... I kept thinkin' about ya's..." His eyes lingered on the reflections a moment longer, before the green blue depths settled on the dark red mare, her pale blond mane, her ice blue eyes. "Ah... Ah've messed up roy'ly ain't Ah?" He whispered to himself, eyes loosing their twinkle as he watches for some kind of reaction from the mare, hoping it wasn't rejection. He had already upset Inali, he didn't want to upset Ever too. All he wanted was for something to go right, for his feelings to be straightened out, for some semblance of understanding to appear to him, whether it be on the barest hint of a breeze, or some rain of light, just to show him the way. He felt so lost, he wasn't sure where he stood any longer.

"Please... Ever..." His blue green eyes held a hint of desperation as he looked at her, the slight breeze that permeated the lake shore shifting his blood red mane, revealing his scarred eye, his tattoos, his feathers and ear ring. He looked like a lost foal, lost in his recklessness and his incapacity for understanding the situations around himself.

User Image She was just about to dip her head for a refreshing drink when she heard a sound from the forest. Could it be? Was it he? She looked to the skies briefly, saying a silent prayer to the Gods that is was the one she had been thinking about since their last departure. Was her luck that good?

He stepped out into the clearing like that from a dream. Her luck was with her this afternoon, though she did not dare to jinx it. As he made his way towards her, she stood very still. Waiting. Just waiting and watching him falling into a graceful form as he raced towards her. She offered him a warm smile in greeting, but soon he was speaking and her smile faded slowly.

When he was done laying his heart out before her, she couldn't help but reach out and pluck a few stray leaves and twigs that were still in his mane. She didn't understand exactly what he was meaning and she was stalling for time to think over and comprehend it better.
"I understand that you felt the need to leave. You are like a summer's breeze with showing yourself. I would never blame you for leaving me, nor do I wish to tie you down," she said softly as she gentled nudged his head higher to look her in the eyes.

She still did not understand what he had meant by "thinking of him." Did he want to make sure they were just friends? That they were something more? There were too many possiblities and his question left it open for all of them. Dare she take the chance, to make the leap Inali had?
"I..." She turned coward at the last minute and covered her tracks, "don't understand, Tawali. What is it you are asking? I think of you almost daily as well, but I don't know what you are seeking."

She could feel them building, tears forming at the base of her light blue eyes. She turned her face away and closed her eyes gently in fear that they were standing on two different levels when it came to feelings. A single tear rolled down her cheek that was towards him and she hastily dipped her head to her foreleg to nub her nose and cheek against the appendage. "I'm fine. It was just a nat of some sort caught in my eye." She felt like her heart was about to either burst through her chest and speak all the truth, or crumble into dust.

Tawali watched her confusion and frowned, directing the expression at himself, confusion in his blue green eyes. He knew he wasn't good with serious words, he just turned it into a joke of nothingness and carried on as though nothing had happen a lot of the time, but he needed these answers, he needed this mare to help him understand not only himself but others too! She was so caring and so sweet, and she enjoyed his boyant personalities, his playfulness, his need to be wanted. From what she said, they both seemed to spend all their time thinking of the other, and Tawali had found it increasingly hard to think of anything else over the last few days, part of the reason why he had resorted to walking. She wanted him to be free, yet of his own accord he had already grounded himself.

"Ah... Ah don' un'nerstand either..." He let loose a nervous chuckle, and smiled, faultering when he saw her tear and quick coverup. His eyes became scared. Had he upset her so much? Guilt and saddness pelted him in the chest and his knees nearly crumpled beneath him. Keeping himself steady, Tawali took a step forward and nuzzled Ever just behind the ear, breathing her scent in deeply, trying to comfort her. He took a couple of steps back, putting space between them, trying not to appear too eager and also not too panicky and in a rush to get away, no matter how much his legs wanted to run away and burn him up in shame. "Ah... Ah wanna know wha' Ah mean t'ya... W'eda Ah'm bein' stupid in chasin' ya's like a adolesent..." He lowered his ears back, face becoming a smooth mask of expectant worry. He had done this too soon, he was pushing too hard to know the response. He flicked his tail lamely.

"Ah'll un'nerstand if'n ya... ya don' wan' me as anythin' more'n a friend lady... Bu'h... I jus' can' get ya's outta me head..."

User Image She offered a small smile to try and ease his confusion as well as her own, but it was just another mask. Her eyes took on a very serious note as she listen to him speak, his voice a deep rumble to her ears that reminded her of distant thunder.

She felt her knees begin to tremble as he stepped closer and felt his breath behin her ear. She herself had to bite back a cry and a need to step closer to him when he moved back to look at her properly. He seemed so lost, like a misguided foal unable to find where home was.
"You were my friend first, Tawali. You have always been, even with how little of time we have spent together."

She turned her gaze to look over to where the treeline was. The last time she had looked that direction, there had been danger, but this time, she was gathering her thoughts to slowly ease into what her true feelings were. One could not rush into things too quickly or you'd scare the other person away and come off as a fool either way. Was she a fool for loving this soon?

Ever brought her attention back to the Wild Child standing before her.
"I..." she stopped and picked her words more carefully, "am very fond of you. Very fond. More than fond."

She wasn't sure if he would understand what she was implying, but her eyes spoke that there was more than just a simple fondness there. That there was possibly love as well as friendship hidden deep within her. If he needed more proof, she took a step towards him, her light blue eyes locked with his cyan ones. They closed briefly as she rub along the side of his cheek with her own, not quite ready to take that next step, but hoping this sign would be enough.

Tawali's ears perked first, and it seemed like the rest of him followed that one action, his ears, then his head, followed by wings and his whole demeanor. The smile that split his features looked almost too happy for words to describe, and the rub against his cheek was enough to send him spiralling. He leapt away from her, legs pounding the earth as he pranced around in circles, crashing into the water and ploughing out again, wings flicking water everywhere as they spread and flapped hard, making him rise up onto his hind legs and bunny hop. He whickered loudly with glee and plonked down, galloping to Ever and nipping gently at her neck and shoulder with happiness, nosing her into some kind of action.

"Ever!! Ever tha's AWESOME!" He spun around, bouncing on the spot. "Ah feel the same way!! Ever!! Ah feel ligh' as air! Ah jus' wanna shout from'a treetop!" He whinnied and raced past her, turning quickly and racing back. He changed so quickly from a serious, sad Stallion to the speedy, Wild Child he was, it was hard to keep track of him. He leaping high, letting his wings bring him down gently before leaping again. He was extactic! Joyous! Don't stop me now bouncy! He trotted back to Ever and grinned broadly, nuzzling her muzzle affectionately.

"Ever, ye' dun' know how 'appy ye's jus' made me!" He chuckled, rubbing his cheek against hers, tail flicking maddly, feet itching to run with her. It didn't matter dark clouds were gathering overhead, or that the wind was howling as loud as the wolves, all he cared about was that Ever was 'fond' of him! That was all he needed! He was wanted! He was liked to the extent of fondness, and it made his heart soar! And Ever was doing this to him! He felt so secure and happy in her company! His wings flapped with his excess energy and he tried to stay still.

User Image Ever chuckled with a deep nicker in her throat, tossing her head in a figure eight at how happy she had made the stallion. She bent her neck downwards, pulling her chin close to her chest as she pawed at the ground. She could feel her knees buckle beneath her when he stepped closer. Was she a fool?

Of course not! She turned on a dime from him and took a few quick steps away in some random direction. She looked back at him, her eyes sparkling.
"Catch me if ya can," she said softly, before tucking her body low to the ground and shooting off like a bullet from a .45, her flaxen tail and mane flying out behind her like a flag in a windstorm. Her laughter followed her trail as she disappeared into the treeline.

Tawali bristled with the challenge, and tucking his wings close, set off at a leisurely, albeit fast trot. He reached the edge of the trees, a little nervous at first. It was in his nature to be nervous of enclosed canopies. As a Wind, his instinct was to fly, but the winds were picking up, and it would not be half as fun following her on the wing! Stepping in, he sped up again, having taken that all important first step. Her ghostly mane and tail made it quite easy to follow her, but her body all but disappeared in the darkened forest. He kept up with her, and nipped her her hind-flanks as he drew level with her, darting between tree trunks and leaping over bushes and logs.

"Ever! This'n ain't much fair on'a Wind! Me wings ge'h caught up in the branches!" He chuckled and reached his neck over, nipping her her shoulders and nudging her with his shoulder. Ahead was a small clearing, and Tawali sped up, almost skipping into it, skidding to a halt in the middle as he looked around. His blood red mane and tail had bits of twig in them again, and his feathers were all out of alignment with twigs and leaves protruding from their red tipped masses. "This'n is nice..." He commented, more to himself then to Ever, sniffing around and pawing at the ground. He turned blue green eyes to her and winked, showing his teeth in a grin.

User Image She slowed down to a trot and came up beside him, a foolish grin on her face and laughter in her light blue eyes. "Not wanting to mess up your fur," she asked as she pulled out a few twigs and leaves from his mane. She smoothed out his feathers with her nuzzle, grabbing more unwanted items with her teeth and dropping them to the ground. "No need to get your feathers all ruffled," she said with a wink after making a half-decent job on his appearance.

She moved around him in a circle, keeping her eyes half-closed as she watched him. When a drop of rain hit her nose, it startled her and she crossed her eyes to look at where it had offended her. Her gaze shifted to the clouds overhead and pulled her ears back in distaste.
"It seems the weather does not share our happy mood, Tawali."

Tawali followed her with his good eye, turning his head nearly a full 180 degrees when she went behind him, laughing when the raindrop hit her nose and she went cross-eyed to view it. He looked up too as he turned around, ruffling his feathers and fluffing out his mane and tail again, a few stray leaves and twigs shaking loose. He frowned at the weather and snorted his distaste to it. It meant he'd be grounded for even longer... Not that he minded too much now that Ever was around! He'd stick with her, if she'd permit.

"Ye're right... S'not w'ot Ah'd call nice up there, tha's for sure!" He chuckled a little and snorted again, taking a step and brushing his body along her's. Another few drops came down, three going along his own face and he skipped a step, rubbing his face along the length of his foreleg. "We'd best get out'ta the rain, lady! It'll make us more'n a li'l chilly if we's get caugh' out 'ere! C'mon, p'r'aps ye could introduce me to ye's Two-Legger? She no' tha' far, is she?" He smiled. He knew she had wanted him to meet the Two-Legger before he had left, but he hadn't stayed long enough to get that far. Come to think of it, he hadn't been around much at all, and he needed to make up for it. If he was to get any further with this 'fond friendship', he would need to be with her more often... A cyan green eye lifted to the dark clouds above... What other option did he have now though? That weather would keep him grounded for a while at any rate!

User Image Although Ever had eventually gone home under the wise direction of another Soquili, she was still very hesistant about returning. It was an odd thing to be welcomed back by the one you almost killed, though it had been an accident. Her footfalling was out of habit, but she hesistated briefly. It was still a painful memory. She turned her head towards him with a nervous smile, "She's on the other side of the village and close to the mountains. It will be along walk, but the winds say the rain won't get too heavy for the next few moments."

He must think her crazy for being able to hear the winds, but it had taken her the last month alone to note their distinct voices. She had indeed grown up quite a bit, though the foalishness was still in her and showed from time to time. She finally picked up the path and quicked her pace to a decent trot, knowing they didn't have too much time. "At least now you'll know where I am exactly," she said with a wink.

The trees passed and soon, the sound of rushing water greeted their ears. This part of the river was shallow and would only get them wet up to their lower forelegs wet. Trees passed by and Ever slowed down to a walk when the noises of nature became still and a different sound greeted her.
"We're at the village. Do not fear them for they are indeed friendly to our kind." She slowly circled the outside of the village as she spoke. "There is a young two-legger in there who was blessed with our name, Soquili. She can even understand us, or so the rumors say." And indeed, the young girl was there petting a black and yellow wind female with touches of white to her wing feathers and grey in her mane (Wambli Zikala).

The village soon disappeared as they entered more trees and the mare picked up pace again. The temperature was slowly dropping colder the further north they went. The rain was coming at a steadier rate, and a bit more quickly than it had been. Her mane was soaked in certain places and sticking to the side of her neck. Her back was indeed darker toned from the dampness and the change of temperature did not help keep her warm.

She let out a soft nicker as they drew next to the river and could see the mountains as a beautiful backdrop. A whistle answered in response, the same one that had called her away that summer long ago. She looked over at Tawali, eyes showing that it was perfectly alright.
"Really. She's a nice two-legger. There's nothing to fear," she said, stopping just barely inveiw of the large black and white teepee with different colored horses running it's side.

Tawali followed at a quick, jaunty pace until they came to the village. His ears snapped back and he slowled right down, sticking close to Ever, nose balancing on her hind quarters for comfort. She lead him around the village, which pleased him. He spotted a few Soquili within the village, but he still didn't like the look of so many two-leggers in such a small space. It made him edgy. When she quickened her step again, he cast an eye back over the village, brows furrowed in a frown, when the rain came streaming down. He looked up, mane plastering to his neck and face as he looked up, closing his eyes a moment before shaking his mane, water spraying and the blood red hair sticking out at odd angles. He took one step, looked back and followed Ever at a quickened pace.

The mountains reared before him, like a giant black stallion through the pale swirling mists of his great breath. Tawali's eyes widened. He'd only ever seen the giant structures from high above, in the sky, never down here, where they flew high and made him feel so small. He smiled a little, suddenly feeling just how small he was in this world. It kind of made him feel strange, but in a way safe. He slowed to a near halt when Ever nickered, and he lowered his head when a whistle answered. He snorted a little, but when Ever reasurred him, he followed her, sticking close behind her. The teepee was certainly a nice one, black and white bands and the painted horses on the side. It was a nice little clearing, and from where Tawali looked at it, he was under a large tree that kept the rain off of his body. His shook his head and his mane poofed out a little as the water made it stick out. He eyed the area, noting the small area of blackened ground, and the logs for sitting. It was a nice little area. A tug from within him made him frown, then he beamed.

"Me feathers!" He exclaimed. He could feel them. He remembered giving Ever two of his feathers and he could feel them now. No wonder he had never found her before, being so far north. He didn't often come this close to the mountain range unless it was to leave, when he had other things on his mind. He grinned and nuzzled Ever behind the ear, taking a step into the clearing and looking around, snuffling the scent of Ever's two-legger all around. It wasn't a nasty smell, but it was... different? That would do to describe it. "'Ow long ye's been 'ere?" He asked, looking over his shoulder at her.

User Image She watched him closely, seeing if there was anything he found a displeasure or any trace of fear on his face. Her heart almost stopped when he frowned momentaritly but a smile curled her lips as he explained that he could feel them. "For a time, this was the closest I could keep them, my friend." But soon, they would be closer to her than ever.

She stepped a few seconds after him, nuzzling against his mane and fixing the spots that had become a mess from the rain and forest. She wanted to impress her two-legger, but also get some sort of blessing, praise, that her choice was the right one. Why would it matter so much though? There was a noise inside the large canvas, big enough to house a couple of Soquilis as well as the slender girl.
"I have been here since the late summer moon. My two-legger... I don't know how long she has been here, but it has been many-many moons for her."

And you could tell by the small usual paths the Native woman had created around her teepee and the fire. There was little other tracings aside from that. She was a very skilled huntress and a wonderful companion for this mare.

User Image Evening Night slowly came out of the teepee, having heard Ever's call. She had been looking for something, but wasn't sure why she was looking for it. She had no expected to see the tan stallion with wind wings standing near the mare. She had seen him once from a far before he had left for the fall. Her green eyes were slightly wide with shock before she composed herself, smoothing her dark braids absently.

Her hand disappeared into her side pouch and pulled out a dried apple slice. She held it in the palm of her hand, offering it to the large wind as a sign of friendship.

Unsure of what to make of the area, Tawali whickered softly when Ever nuzzled at his mane, feeling her nervous tension through the touch. He could tell preening alright, and it was like she was attempting to make him presentable. He laughed internally at the thought and licked her muzzle gently, a reassurance. He wanted to be as impressive as she seemed to think he should be, and hoped he didn't disappoint her. The sound of soft footfalls behind him made him turn from Ever, the small, thin Two-Legger in front of him startling him a little, though he kept his cool and snorted only once.

"Ever... Wha' do Ah--" He stopped as the creature before him rummaged around in a pouch. He backed up a little, cyan green eyes widening when she offered him something. He glanced at Ever sidelong and then took a cautious step forward. Whatever she held smelt like apple, but it wasn't as tangy and fresh a smell as the round variety had. Nibbling at her finger, sniffing her scent, he snuffled up the apple slices and munched happily, a deep rumble of appriciation in his chest. Finishing the slices in record time, he cast a pleased look over his shoulder at Ever. "Nice!" He said, before returning his attention to the Two-Legger, sniffing at the braid nearest him, lipping at it slightly, before moving up and snuffing at her ear, blowing in it as he scented her. She smelt of forest and mountain, a nice smell to Tawali, a calming smell.

Taking care, he walked around her and nosed at the pouch she had searched, snuffing at the other treats it may contain. He was intrigued. He'd never been so close to a Two-Legger before, and he was enjoying the experience. Feeling as though he was excluding Ever, he left her Two-Legger and bounded over to her, butting her gently, muzzle grazing along her neck and nuzzling under her cheek. He looked happy to meet the Two-Legger, and for once, remained quiet while doing it. He wanted to say something, but wasn't sure if it would startle the Two-Legger, as she wouldn't know what he was saying.

User Image Evening Night giggled and gently pushed Tawali's muzzle from her ear. The warmth of his breath was a stark difference from the cold temperature. She pulled out a few things she had snagged from the people who came in the large fish. They were white and cubed shaped. Many seemed to be giving these as small treats to their Soquili, but she knew it would be extra special.

She showed what it was she had and put one in her mouth.
"See? It's not dangerous. You can have one too." She held out both her hands, one for the stallion, the other for the mare with the sweetness of one sugar cube each.

User Image Things were going better, even if Ever hadn't planned on coming home sooner than she had wanted. Her ears pinned back briefly when Evening Night came closer, offering the strange treat to her, and her eyes seemed to shine with fear. The fear was of hurting the small girl again and that was the last thing the chestnut mare wanted to do. She gently took the treat and stood back watching them silently.

Evening raised her hand slowly to gently stroke Tawali on the neck, looking over at her mare. "You made a wise choice. Was this why you came or were you seeking shelter," she asked with a toothy grin. Though neither of them could really talk back, and they might not understand, she let her hand drop and motioned for them to enter into her home. It was indeed large enough to house two large Soquilis after all, whether they felt comfortable to enter was another question.
