Foal's Name: Tokeca
Foal's Gender: Male
Prompt: 2

Tokeca had been playing only moments earlier, filled with joy and happiness as he romped around the tree not too far from home. He hadn't given any thought to the conversation he had had with his sister not too long ago; he was still young, what reason had he to worry about rivals. Ye here he was, Wild Wind, in all his gloated splendor of being pure. What use was being pure as long as you had wings. As Tokeca thought this he ruffled the wings at his side; he began to tremble, doubt running through his mind. What would this stallion do to him? He had already made it clear that he thought very little of Tokeca. Tokeca stared up at the multi colored eyes, fear clear on his face as he backed slowly away from wild wind. "Why must you say such things? What does it matter if my blood is that of a Horse and a Wind?" The foal questioned.

Did it matter? Tokeca wasn't sure anymore.

He had often wondered what it would be like to be forever stuck to the ground, unable to take flight and leave all worries behind. He pitied his mother for not being able to follow his father. But if he were to stay grounded like his sister choose to, would he ever be accepted? He knew for a fact that his wings would always alienate him from whatever grounded herd he may choose to enter (if he ever even thought to leave his family's herd).

What if he tried to join the winds? He had watched his father, his wild spirit not allowing him to stay in one place for very long, not even with his love. Tokeca pitied his father for that. He knew his will not to travel often, even his lack of will to fly often, would alienate him from any wind herd.

He liked his hooves to be on the ground, but he also enjoyed the thrill of the wind blowing through his mane as he hovered on warm air currents far from the ground. Maybe Wild Wind was right; he was an abomination. He would never have a place amongst the wind or the grounded soquili. Tokeca stopped his trembling suddenly, as though he had come to accept fully what wild wind had said. He dropped his gaze to the ground, unable to look into the face of the creature that had changed his views so suddenly. He knew Wild wind would most likely gloat over this.

But Wild win had not won. Tokeca raised his gaze once more, a wild grin accross his face as he glared in defiance. "You know, you are right. I will never fit in with the winds or the grounded soquili. But then again I dont need to. I have my family," Tokeca spat at wild wind, taking a step towards him. "And that is all that I need."

Foal's Name: Aki
Foal's Gender: Female
Prompt: 2

Aki grazed in the soft grass letting the blissful day take control of her spirit. Today was a good day. Her wings were folded against her back as she ate when a swift shadow arose over her head. Her eyes widened as she saw the cause of this shadow. Wild Wind.

He was majestic in her eyes as she looked in awe at his powerful body. He carried a sneer on hhis face unknown to Aki. She kept gazing for a few moments before he spoke.

"So you're Aki. The disgrace to your family. A filly not fit to be known as a Wind or of the horse breed."

Aki felt the harshness in his voice and faltered. She wouldn't let someone like him judge her. He had no right. Did he? Her personality got the better of her and she quietly whispered, "You don't mean that do you?"

He snorted and looked at her as if she were trash. He looked about ready to speak, but instead he took off. Back into the sky, leaving Aki behind in a puddle of doubt.

I'm not a disgrace to the family! Mother would tell me and... She would tell me, wouldn't she? Aki froze in her thoughts. They overwhelmed her. Tears gathered in her gentle eyes and she looked back in the direction of her familys' home. No. She wasn't a disgrace to the family. Wild Wind was wrong.

Foal's Name: Sunita - One with Good morals
Foal's Gender: Female
Prompt: 2

Mane flapping in the wind Sunita was having a wonderful time, not a care in the world as she galloped around playing with her self, chasing butterflies or bugs that she happened to see pass by, she was very much a free spirit. She laughed as her ran away from the huge family tree she had previously been under chasing a huge Yellow and black butterfly that had taken cover in its massive branches. Sunita was standing there in the sun enjoying its rays when it was blocked out by something rather large. Looking up the small filly shrank back now before her was her fathers worst enemy.

"Look at you just another abomination," Wild wind snorted to the small frightened pony, " you are a disgrace to the Winds and to the horse family you and your forsaken parents are from, You do not belong her nor there." The large black and white stallion spat.

Shrinking back Sunita finally spoke, "I only know of you what my family has told me, but you sir are the abomination, my family we deserve to be here, all of us deserve the flight you have, You should be grounded." The scared horse spoke, She might not have looked like much but she had a lot to say of her family, she loved them more than anything and would do anything protect them, even if it was standing up to her fathers rival that was near 10 times her size. " You know nothing of this family, only your own hatred of my father that you have come many miles to bother, isn't there better you could be doing?" She asked her eyes narrowed and dark, at this moment in time she hated the horse in front of her. "honestly does a wind like you from some place so far off that my father doesn't speak of it have to bother a small family such as ours? Bold words for such a young one. Sunita thought of the stallion that stood before her as nothing more than a bother, she was only slightly scared of his pure size, not of the fact that he was her fathers most hated rival. Wild wind only irritated the filly. She looked back up into the two tone eyes above her, "Shouldn't you be finding something important to be doing with the high and mighty Winds?" She asked bitterly as she turned to leave him to go find her family and take cover she knew she was stepping over a line at the moment and was afraid of getting killed because of her tung that was out of control at this moment. "if you'll excuse me, I have more important things to deal with" She told him turning to gallop away.

Now more than ever she was scared for her own life, but no one spoke of her family like that. They had done nothing to Wild Wind, and the fact that he had no clue who she was had only added more hatred towards him to her words. 'how could someone have such hatred for another She asked her self as she trotted away from the much larger of the two. her mind raced with thoughts, 'Our family is nothing that he speaks of, he has no idea what he's even saying, My family is not full of abominations, he only speaks that way because he knows that his children are such She told herself as she came closer to the horses and wind's she knew and loved, 'He is just jealous that our family is filled with everything his family couldn't ever be Was the last thought Sunita's mind came to rest on as her feet stopped knowing that the bonds she shared with her mother, father and sister must have been envied by many others and that is why Wild Wind hated this family, She knew that this was special. As she nestled her nose into her mothers chest she knew that she had done the right thing but hiding was probably the best thing to do right now.

Foal's Name: Wakalayapi [because it means coffee and the basket is that color, as well as coffee makes people happy and so does she]
Foal's Gender: Female
Prompt: one

[I have wrote this so Wakalayapi is looking back on her day when she is laid to go to sleep reflecting on her thoughts]

Hello everyone my name is Wakalayapi! but everyone calls me Waka, I am a foal a very young one, as I am still new to this world things are confusing, naturally they are. Its like one big puzzle book really. There are so many things that need working out like the sky I mean you can see it, you can breathe it in, you can feel its temperature on your fur, you can even smell it, so why is it you can not taste it? and flowers there so colorful and pretty but how come some give you tummy ache when you eat them and some don't? The biggest question of all though is why is it my dad and my sister are so different, i mean if they are the same blood why is it there minds work in such different ways.

My father loves to fly and when he speaks of it the happiness in is voice is something i could hear all day, i mean someone with that much joy in there hearts is something very rare. passion is a wonderful thing and it should be admired. I love my dad he is so cool! when i grow up i want to be just like him you know, then on the other hand there is my older sister Uwoduhi'Suli, I call her Uwo isnt it cute and it takes much less air to speak it, she is always around to play with me and she is really sweet, the thing is she doesn't seem to meet my dad eye to eye. I think thats how the expression goes at least. The thing is I have never seen Uwo fly and it seems such a shame really i mean if dad loves it so much why cant she?

I asked her today, and she told me she was a 'Grounded stuck in a Winged body' i didnt understand what she meant but i have had some time to think about it and i feel as if i now do understand slightly.

It much be a rotten thing to think that you are something other then yourself. I think that Owa was meant to fly even though she doesn't. Vidia thinks that Uwa is better than her, Oh Vidia is my other sister by the way she is really pretty. Here is a question why dont i have a brother i heard that boys are much simpler to understand. Owa wants to give her wings to Vidia and Vidia wants Owa's wings? isnt this just a little stupid. I might be new to the world but i think that you should be happy with who you are and that you should make the best of what you have got. If Uwa wants to stay grounded then she should i mean, its her life but i think that its a shame to waste such a special gift.

My family is very confusing you see and it might take me a life time to understand why everyone thinks the way they do. I love them all so dearly but I dont see things like they do, if given the choice would i keep my wings, i want to stay on the ground so Vidia doesnt feel left out and that she has someone like her by her side, on the other hand though i want to fly with dad so i will know his love of the sky. As for Uwa i want her to do what she feels is right, as long as she is happy i dont care if she flys or not.

Foal's Name: Kawoke’hupahu (meaning: Swiftwing)
Foal's Gender: Male
Prompt: 1

‘pahu flicked an ear and swished his tail as his sister’s answer rattled around inside his head. Stuck in a Winged body. Cursed with wings. Though his wouldn’t bear the weight of his body yet, the colt stretched his wings out to inspect them. He lifted one and then the other, flexing and bending them. Waiting to see if they felt like a curse.

He could feel muscle wiggling around under the skin. Things were pulling and pushing and shifting. If he concentrated very hard he could make the feathers spread a little bit, like fingers on the hands of the two-legs he’d seen. But cursed? They were a little heavy. And warm, he thought. But then he felt the breeze and it made something in his heart flutter. It made him want to swish his tail and buck and kick and run as fast as he could. Was that what being cursed felt like?

Not if he listened to his father. Tawali made flying sound like the most wonderful thing in the world. And thinking about joining Papa, up above the world, sent that wiggly feeling through him again. He tossed his head and snorted, though he didn’t mean to. It was just hard to stay still.

“I think,” he said finally, “that wings are probably like growing up. I have to learn a lot of stuff, Mama said. And lessons aren’t always fun. Sometimes they hurt you and sometimes they’re scary. So maybe sometimes wings are bad and it’s better not to use them at all. But sometimes you learn something from them, like flying or not falling, or seeing things that are really far away.”

He took a big breath, pushed his chest out bravely and announced, “So I’m gonna keep mine, ‘Suli. ‘til I grow up anyway. And then, when I’m big like you, I’ll know whether I want ‘em anymore. But I’ll fly sometimes with Papa and sometimes I’ll stay and just be on the ground and no matter what, I’ll always be your brother, okay?”

Foal's Name: Alitama (Wren)
Foal's Gender:Female
Prompt: 1

Evening was settling over the clearing, the heat of the day being swallowed up in the last golden rays of sunlight as they began to gradually disappear beneath the treeline. As the air cooled with the approach of night, everything began to grow still. 'Suli whickered and shuffled her wings, looking to Alitama as though she- like the rest of the world- was beginning to settle down for the night.

Alitama, with a certain disregard for boundaries, trotted over and pressed her velvety nose into 'Sudi's side. 'Sudi started at the sudden intrusion of her personal space, but lit up as she recognized her little sister.

"What are ye up te t'day, Ali?" 'Sudi asked.

"Ah've been talkin' te Doda...and thinkin'."

"An' both are dangerous pasttimes, ye know." 'Sudi teased, laughing. "What've ye been thinkin' abou'?"

"Why ye don' fly." Alitama answered her with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. "Doda says tha' evenin' is one of the bes' times te fly."

'Sudi paused for a long moment. Alitama almost thought that her sister wasn't going to answer her at all.

"Doda owns th' skies. Some are meant to fly...others are born to walk." 'Sudi explained, though rather vaguely, as she thought of how her father reveled in the freedom of flight. He loved the sky in a way that she never had and never could. Alitama blinked her pale blue eyes in confusion, obviously not grasping 'Sudi's explanation. Her dreams of soaring like her father were being threatened, but she wasn't ready to give them up yet. She longed to be among the clouds and was willing to argue with her beloved sister for the sake of that dream.

"Ye've got wings...nowt else should matter..." Alitama responded, fluttering her own wings almost defensively. She had longed to take to the sky like her father for as long as she could remember.

"It shouldn'...if tha's what ye want. With the mixin' of blood between winds like Doda and groundeds like Etsi...some things change, ye know."

"Ye mean like Vidia bein' like Etsi? Ye were born wi'h wings, though..."

"Ah was...but tha' doesn' mean tha' I necessarily wan' them." At Alitama's troubled expression, 'Sudi gently nudged her haunch. "Don' worry about it now. Enjoy the last bit of light while ye can."

Though still uncertain, Alitama obeyed, quickening her pace to a canter as her distance from 'Sudi increased. Her gaze drifted across the field and above the trees. She tossed her head, enjoying the feel of the breeze playing across her face; her eyes slid closed with sheer contentedness. Tiny wings spread unconsciously, obeying some involuntary desire.

Every ounce of doubt regarding flight that 'Sudi had inadvertently instilled vanished instantly. The beauty the sky held for her, the way the wind made her very blood sing...in that moment, there was no doubt in Alitama's mind that she had been born to fly.

Ooooh, exciting eh? Well guys, ignore the title:

FOR THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!!!!

Now, judging may take a little longer then we wanted as Evelyn's internet has decided to die and might not be fixed till Monday, but we will be going through all the entries and picking out a short list, then deciding from there.

So until then, sit back, relax, and don't pester us for the results XD We will get to them as soon as we can, but with RL issues for Eve, it may take a little longer ^_^

A BIG thank you to everyone that participated! Its great to see so many people are interested in our little corner of the Soq-World and who love the plot lines coming out of it! You all did really well, and its a shame we don't have 30 odd baskets of which to give to all of you, but alas, we must choose 1 of you to become part of the family!

Again, thanks for making this such a success, and check back regular to see if we've announced a winner!
