An Infectious Presence

The world around him was rather peaceful at the moment, he could hear only the sounds of buzzing maglardilla and the even breathing of the one who was curled up next to him in the hammock. He felt no real desire to get up, to get dressed, to find his weapon, or to patrol... all he wanted to do at the moment was stay right where he was, curled up against the warmth of the one that he was sharing the hammock with. Why should he get up? It was quiet today, nothing at all to worry about, as though the war was nothing but a bad dream that he had finally awoken from. There was no invasion, no dangerous force looking to enslave those that wouldn't bend knee before them, it was all just some nightmare that stress had caused him to have. He had finally woken up and things were finally looking up.

One of his antennae gave a twitch as he felt his companion shifting next to him and he opened his dark eye to glance at him before he shifted closer, getting more comfortable, and then let his eye close again. Giving a soft smile he reached out, soothing a hand against the other man's cheek, and murmured, "It's alright, Gerraden, you don't have to wake up yet." If Rishima wasn't getting up there was no reason for Gerraden to do so. Better that they both stay right where they were, curled up, comfortable, and cozy. He couldn't help but to smile when he heard Gerraden's heartbeat. The sound was evened out, telling the half blood that Gerraden had settled back into sleep once more. Good, good... he didn't want to wake him, not when he had no plans on getting out of the hammock himself.

"We should stay just like this." He murmured, arm sliding around the other half blood Alkidike, holding him close, feeling a protective and affection desire welling up in his chest to keep the other man close. He would remain safe if he was close by he thought to himself, he would be able to protect him from anything dangerous that might rear its ugly head and try to ruin their sleep. There was a sound nearby, a familiar one, that of Itzal, a sound he knew well as the one his animal companion made when he felt Rishima should get up. He probably wanted food he decided, feeling a touch of annoyance, his antennae twitching. He lifted one hand, waving it at the Radaku, "Mmm... not now, Itzal... I don't want to move yet." He told Itzal, hoping that he could ward him off for a while longer. This was where he wanted to be right, not up and about.

The sound continued, a rumbling sound that seemed to change into... words? Was Itzal talking to him? Wait a moment... Itzal couldn't talk! What was going on? Who was talking to him when Gerraden was... right... here?

As Rishima's mismatched eyes opened again he found himself laying, not in a comfortable hammock up in the trees but instead on a stiff, uncomfortable cot that was located within the village of Nueada, the place that they had retreated after the battle. A battle that was very much real. His arm reached out, patting around the cot for a moment, realizing that of course Gerraden wasn't there. Why did he expect him to be? Just because he'd had some weird dream didn't mean that the other guy would just magically appear. He sat up slowly, lifting his hands to rub the heels of them against his eyes, "What is it?" He asked of the one that he knew was standing there off to the side.

"You asked me to wake you, you didn't want to sleep too long, remember?" It was the voice of one of those who lived in the village, one that was housing soldiers both injured and not he recalled, he also recalled asking to be woken up. He didn't want to waste too much time lazing about, not when there was much that he could be doing.

"I remember now, thank you." He said, forcing himself to his feet, brushing his hands against his clothing, then moved over to where his spear was located. He couldn't just be laying about all day, couldn't be dreaming about a world where the war didn't exist... and really shouldn't be dreaming about sleeping. Especially dreaming about sleeping with Gerraden! He was supposed to be looking after him, keeping him safe, not getting weird ideas in his head about what the two of them should be doing together. Sure, it was just napping in a hammock, something that Gerraden had suggested they do a while back, but still it felt odd. As if him dreaming about it was going to encourage more of Gerraden's puppy like behavior. He shouldn't be dreaming about such things... and yet now that he was awake, now that the dream world and Gerraden both were gone, he felt rather... lonely.

Sighing a little he found himself thinking about the other man, wondering if he should go and find him, see how he was doing, how he was feeling, before he went on his next patrol. It was a thought, he did miss him after all. He hadn't wanted to bother him since he'd been injured during the awful battle that they were all caught up in. He felt that Gerraden should be resting, not following him around, he needed to get better before he did that again. Oddly though, now that he wasn't around, Rishima found himself inexplicably missing his presence. Before he'd felt that maybe he was a bit underfoot and clingy, now that he wasn't around he missed that. It was quite strange and probably something he shouldn't mention out loud to Gerraden or else the guy would never leave him alone again. The question now was would that be a bad thing? Or would having him tagging along again, especially on patrol, be a good thing?

Instead of thinking too hard on his dream and what it might mean he should just go and check on Gerraden instead he told himself. It would appear as though the guy had gotten into his head, causing him to go as far as dreaming about Gerraden, something that he wouldn't be able to get over until he saw him again or so he felt. As such that was where he started out for, the last place that he had see Gerraden.
