◈ Preparing for the Worst ◈ (Staying Behind) || IC ||
The camp had emptied of all of the fighters and what was left was a small group meandering around the healing tent that Antiope was entering. These would be the people that Tendaji would look to to heal the wounded and take care of the fallen that were brought back. Not everyone would survive, surely everyone knew that there were terrible things that happened at war and casualties were one of them.
Antiope watched the small group join her in the healing tent. Shaking her head to Natsu who had stepped forward, she squeaked out "I'm sure that those with children have made arrangements. I'm looking for healers to lead the teams. If that's not you, then just wait a while... or maybe see if the children do need help, but that's not what I'm asking for right now." She smiled to the wind boy. She appreciated the gesture, but it was an answer to a question she hadn't asked.
Once the group had settled in, Antiope spoke out again, this time becoming serious. "I don't know what we're going to be seeing today, but I have a feeling it's not going to be pretty. I need serious focus when people start coming in and if you're up to it, you will be leading a team. We will break down into stations to keep it organized as long as we can. The injured will be split up between the stations and you will be responsible for your people." She crossed her arms, making sure to look each of them in the eye before turning to the next. "Can you all do that?"
Those outside the tents were left to wait until the inside meeting had been dismissed. Most were worried, some eager for it to be over, but it all seemed too empty and quiet compared to the large group that was once in the campsite.

[Biroki -> Antiope -> Group of leaders] Biroki eyed Natsu briefly. He had forgotten about the children here, he didn't know how he had forgotten since two were his, but he had forgotten. He was glad someone was here in case something happened with one of them. It was likely to be little Ikuri, if there was a problem. Not so much Ikkio. His Ikkio, he was discovering, was more likely to be the cause of the problem than the victim.
His mind quieted as Antiope talked, not so much because she had a commanding air as it had sunk in that Zuri's life - and the lives of those others she was with - could well rely on them being organized and ready to take care of the wounded.
When she asked if they were ready to take on that responsibility, if they were capable, he became aware of something missing, something that was usually there. He wasn't sure what it was, until he realized it was not outside but within.
He was, he realized, not uneasy and uncertain. He was confident, for a change. This surprised him - he didn't think he had grown up that much from the stammering little wimpy pyrotechnic kid. Apparently, though, he had.
Enough so that he could answer without doubt. "I can." he said quietly. "I definitely can."

Makani Post 5 The other group had gone leaving behind those who were going to be maning the camps. They were all to wait here until their time came, until the point where they were supposed to take care of the wounded, and Makani couldn't help but to think that it was just... too quiet. To the point where it almost made his ears hurt a little bit and it made him shift in place uncomforably. It was as though everything had gone completely still for a time, waiting and watching in a way that Makani wasn't able to do. It was only when he heard Antiope's voice that he felt he was able to relax again even if just a little bit. As she spoke of not knowing what they were going to be seeing today and that it wasn't going to be pretty he couldn't help but to mutter to himself, "Well, at least it will be no worse then anything else I've seen." A comment that got him an elbow to his ribs from his older sister. It was well deserved of course but still, it did hurt. Turning his attention to her he said, "Sorry... just a bit on the nervous side." He hated to admit it but since he had more skill with healing then anyone else in the troupe that meant that he would be useful to Antiope, huh? He should be helping her out, helping the wounded out when they arrived. He felt her coming closer to them as she spoke, could sense that she was looking his way, but he was pretty certain his hazy eyes would give him away fro what he was. Better she knew then think that he was unwilling to meet her gaze he thought to himself before he said, "I will do all I can." For all his nervous jokes he meant to use the power he had the best he could. He had to do so or else he was pretty sure Sango would find him and hit him with another stick. Eira Post 5 Eira looked at her brother after elbowing him, then over to Antiope, doing her best to pay attention even if she was pretty good at ignoring other women normally. This was important so she was going to pay attention to this Shifter woman. It was strange though, knowing as she spoke that amongst the troupe that her blind brother would probably be doing the most work. She and Borra could do their best to keep up morale, Gyuri could probably move patients around easily enough, and Sinny... well, she could do stuff too Eira was sure, but Makani actually had magic at his disposal. Strange that he was suddenly in the spotlight in such a manner. Maybe having Sinny keep an eye on him would be a good idea? Since she was sure they would all have stuff to do that they were good at, and she wasn't quite sure what that was for Sinny, then maybe she could help Makani? Giving her 'friend' the best smile she could muster she asked, "Would it be too much for me to ask you to be Makani's assistant, Sinny? I would feel better knowing he has someone with him at all times when he is helping the injured." Not to mention that he would probably need help if a patient got rough with him or something. Sinny seemed pretty scary and strong if the way she dealt with Borra was any indication. She'd be a good orderly! Provided of course that she actually agreed to the task Eira was trying to assign her. She turned then to Gyuri and said, "You will probably be best at moving the patients around if they are too injured to move themselves. So I will give you that task if we find ourselves with a lot of patients." The Shifter woman did say each station would be responsible of those injured that they were given, meaning that they would need a plan! She'd take charge! Given she was troupe leader she should be leader for this team as well! Gyuri Post 5 Gyuri tilted his head to one side, listening first to Antiope as she spoke and then to Eira as she started to give out orders to their group. Since he was quite used to that, it being a daily occurance, he only nodded in agreement. Moving injured patients from place to place if they found themselves unable to move on their own seemed to be something that was right up his alley. As such he felt that the task was one that he would excel at. Anything that relied solely on physical strength was something he could do though, huh? He found himself rather glad for the powerful, oversized form that he'd been blessed with at the moment. Better that he found himself right for the job instead of just being starred at for once. Lifting a hand up he found himself patting Borra on the shoulder, as though to reassure him, before he turned to look around at the others in the area. More healers, more of their helpers, more stations set up, everything was ready and waiting for what was to come. He felt worried though. Antiope mentioned that what they were going to see wouldn't be pretty, meaning they might very well find themselves in over their heads once the battle started, but he shouldn't think about that, huh? If he started to fret too much then what? He'd worry about what he should do next as far as any of them were concerned and that would get his head spinning with 'what ifs'. Not something he could allow. Instead he really wanted to wrap his arms around Borra, to cuddle him like one might a stuffed animal, and calm down that way. He refrained though, only going as far as patting Borra's shoulders before he crossed his arms over his chest and attempted to look the part of the 'strong and silent type' instead of the 'fretting internally type' that he really was.

Aysun Post 9
Aysun was sitting in front of the station that his grandmother and two aunts were going to be working when the injured came in, the same place that his brother, himself, and some other random kids were waiting at as well. It was rather quiet, save for those who were planning for what was to come and he couldn't help but to stare out in the direction that all the warriors had gone in. What now? Their Momma, Daddy, and uncles were all gone now... not only them but their grandfather was out there as well. The only ones not fighting and not waiting to do healing were Uncle Luis and Uncle Shay, both of which were elsewhere at the moment. Shay was the same age as Chandra and himself, Luis a bit younger then the aunts here, both had gone to fetch a few things for their grandmother that she felt would be helpful for the various healing that was to come.
He found himself wondering if he should have gone too but decided against it, feeling he was better off right where he was, keeping an eye on his brother. Not to mention he felt that if he kept his eyes trained ever ahead on where their other family members had gone that he would be ready for... well, whatever was going to happen next. No guarantees about that, he could be very, very wrong, but he supposed he wouldn't know until things came to pass.
"Stay right by me." He told Chandra and any of the others that might be listening to him, not wanting to lose sight of any of them when things started to get hectic.

Natsu post 8 Natsu gave a half-chuckle and bowed his head. Well, it was worth a shot! Maybe he could find another way to use his music to help others while he was here? He smiled and made his way back to Viveka, Finnley, and Pahana. "Eeeh, it was worth a shot." He chuckled, kissing Viveka on the cheek. Viveka post 8 Viveka giggled as Natsu game back over, looking somewhat defeated, and leaned into his shoulder. But, as Antiope became serious, he peered over towards Pahana. "Why don't you go help the healers, Paha?" He asked, smiling. "Your mom's a healer and Rastian's your cousin, you'd be a great asset with all that influence, right?" Pahana post 7 Pahana's eyes snapped towards Viveka, her face twisting slightly. Uh... Well, yeah, she was influenced by her mother and her cousin, but she wasn't good enough to heal a whole mass of injured soldiers. She blushed, chuckled, and shook her head. "Naaaah..." She sighed. "I didn't learn anything of value... Bandaging is pretty much it, aside from basic medicines and what you should eat if your stomach hurts... I wouldn't be of any use here."

Kennet post 8 As the area become quiet, Kennet felt the hairs upon the back of his neck stand on edge. He hated being in a place devoid of sound, it was unnerving for him. But, he wasn't about to let everyone know he was scared, and quickly moved to sit beside on the of the tents, just a short distance away from the others. "I'm not stupid..." He grumbled, shooting his brother an angry gaze, sniffling. Samoset post 8 Samoset rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out in response to his brother. Yeah, if he wasn't stupid, why was he acting like such a baby? Why couldn't his brother be more like him, social, interesting, and approachable? He sighed, flicked a stone towards Kennet, and gazed up to Aysun. "Is there anything I can do to help?" He asked, grinning. "I know Kennet won't bother helping, but I can be useful if you want me to be!"

Sathe (Post 9)
Sathe waited inside of the tent for Antiope to start speaking, playing with the feathers in her hair nervously.
It was going to be okay. She knew enough to help people, this she knew. She wasn't a whiz with magic, but she had the practical stuff down pat. At least at home she did. She hadn't ever been put under pressure or timed like this before.
Sathe nodded her head, still sticking more to the back of the experienced crowd and chimed in. "I can help. I can lead, Miss Antiope." She raised her hand, trying to discern herself from the back with her being so short.
She would do what she needed to do, and she was anxious to help. Standing around just wasn't really her thing, her hands needed to be doing something almost at all times.

Borra Post 5 Alright it was time to try and get serious. After all people were going to get hurt, so it would be Eira and his job to keep morale up. Right? Letting Eira take charge was easy, if only because she sounded like she knew what she was talking about. Gyuri would be the best for moving people around, he was surprised when she suggested that Sin'qua or 'Sinny' as she referred to her ..lately go with her brother. Though it made sense since he was blind it would be good to have someone work with him. Though his sister.....he wasn't sure if that was the best of choices. "Where do you want me Eira?" He inquired quietly as he felt raising his voice in this situation was a bad idea. Sin'qua Post 5 As the surrounding area seemed to get more tense she found it rather...odd and humorous that Makani would make such a comment. Since he was blind after all she hadn't expected him to make such a sarcastic comment, especially considering the situation they were in. Still she had to use a hand to cover up her mouth so she didn't get any strange looks as she was trying very hard not to laugh. Especially since Antiope was coming closer as she didn't want to be disrespectful to their leader. Licking her lips she didn't know what to say, after all she couldn't fight she didn't know how to heal or patch people up. She had terrible bed side manners....she supposed she would just stick with their strange little group. Starteled of course when Eira requested that she be her brothers 'assistant'. Raising an eyebrow to the woman she then gave a small half shrug and nod of her head. "Sure...I can be his 'eyes' per say." She punned trying to not be too funny but unable to resist.

Finnley: post: 8, Natsu, Viveka, PahanaFinnley would have been surprised by the other girl's enthusiasm had it not been for the two she was currently with. She gave Pahana's hands a little squeeze when the other took her own. When she had her hands back, and Natsu went off to talk to someone, she was grateful for Viveka taking his place. She took his hand with one of hers, and then wrapped the other around his arm. Was it bad that she was getting so attached to these two already? Probably, especially in war time. But they were so sweet, and it was so scary around here. Finn made up a million excuses in her head to justify it. Bringing herself out of her own little world, she noticed that things were changing. Natsu, Viveka and Pahana were talking about Pahana helping out with healing. The slight rumble through the ground alerted her of their troops movement. Things would get bad any time now. "It's nice to meet you Pahana. I have to agree w-with Natsu and Vi-Viveka. If you have any healing healing experience at all...I'm sure every little bit helps." She turned her eyes to Natsu and Viveka. Finnley wondered what would happen to them? Would their troops prevail? Would they get to go home to their families? Her hands squeezed a little tighter on Viveka for a moment.

Senja (6 posts in last three, 1st in this) Setting her up, if anyone want's to meet her that'd be nice :3 She hurried to the healers tents, knowing that while she had no actual skills or knowledge other than basic first aide, the healers would welcome any extra hands. Hopefully the blood and gore of the battle wouldn't be too gruesome or anything… she'd seen injuries from performers in practice and on stage, but nothing really bad. Well, I can only hope and pray I guess. She thought with a sigh as she nervously shifted from one foot to the other. Maybe I should have stayed home, what use is a dancer or musician here?

[Dyakida and Kaalnia -> weapons tent to Healing crowd -> feel free to interact with the only two full grown alkidikes around XD]
Dyakida jumped, startled, quickly sitting up straight and trying to hide the fact that she had just been near to tears. At lest she thought she had been near. She wasn't sure if a few tears had escaped. "Oh. Kaalnia." she said, flustered, "Er, I apologize...?" she didn't feel it was Kaalnia she owed an apology to. "Perhaps I should have asked them to describe themselves." or had been more pushy about touching them and getting a sense of what they 'looked' like. "... no. I have no plans... you?"
Kaalnia laughed. "Well, no. I don't have any plans." she moved closer, playfully. "We could Make plans, you know what I mean?" She leaned on Dyakida's shoulder, grinning, "Ya wanna know what I look like?" she asked.
Dyakida tried not to wince visibly. This was exactly what she was hoping to avoid. "Kaalnia." she said sternly, "This is not the time or the place for your plans. And, just to be clear, I am not interested." Because you are loud and annoying and I don't like you very much. She kept that thought to herself, though, not moving to push away the sister. Truth was, she did like the contact. That at least was nice. It helped her know where Kaalnia was spacially. She just wished Kaalnia wouldn't be so rough and direct, and would stop implying touching elsewhere. She was curious, though. "What do you look like..." she asked, grudgingly, knowing the answer already.
Kaalnia frowned. "Aww, c'mon, Kida." she said, pouting, "Well fine then." she drew away, pacing, "I'm the sexiest damn Alkidike woman you'd ever see, with meaty, powerful thighs, strong arms, long hair done up in a gorgeous tie-back, smooth antennae, a headdress made with colorful feathers, and red body paint that goes so well with my circular markings. Oh yeah, and a bu..."
"I think I get the picture." Dyakida said, cutting her off. Of course. What else was she expecting... honesty?
"Fine..." Kaalnia would normally have just kept listing off her best features, but she was feeling sort of down too. "Fine, what do ya wanna do."
Dyakida thought for a moment. "Anything..." she said quietly, slumping, "Anything other than sitting and waiting."
Kaalnia, for a moment, was quiet. "Yeah." she said after a moment, "I hear you." she brightened, "Well then!" she grabbed Dyakida's arm and started to pull her up, "I know exactly where to go."
Dyakida was startled by the sudden pressure on her arm, but she let herself be helped up. "Where?"
"So theres a bunch of Earthlings gathered. I'm thinking we should go there!" said Kaalnia, "Right, c'mon, lets go!" she said, "Before all the interesting tasks go away!"
"H-hang on a moment!" Dyakida picked up the still-dozing Peyla and her staff before holding an arm out to Kaalnia. Helping out around the camp seemed like the thing to do. She could do something useful, something that was as important as fighting. She stood up straight and tall. "All right." she said, taking a deep breath and banishing her fear and premature sorrow for the time being, "Lets go."
"All right!" said Kaalnia, and she led her artisan sister to the healing tents and the crowd... and all the gorgeous women that were there.

Antiope nodded her head to those that had followed. "Alright then. This will work. Each of you, gather ten others outside and start to assign positions if necessary." She motioned for those in the tent to follow her, emerging to face the others that were waiting.
"Alright. There will be leaders managing groups into teams, we will set up stations, and we will have the injured directed into one area to be treated fully by a team. These are your leaders." She motioned to the people standing behind her. "They will be my eyes and ears when I can't be around. Anything you have a question about, direct it to them, but be patient with them also. Even though they're leaders now does not mean that they will have answers to every question." She turned back to her leaders behind her. "If you have questions that you don't know the answer to, feel free to seek me out. I will be leading my own team."
Antiope motioned for the left most ten people in the group, all of which were nameless Tendaji members, "You ten, follow me. Five gather cots and the rest gather up supplies from the supply hut. Set up under that tent there." She motioned to a tent toward the center of the field, a place which would be easy to find her if someone should need her.
Before anyone could move or follow orders, there was a vibration underfoot and sounds of yells and cacophony could be heard from the forest. Antiope looked out in that direction and swallowed hard. "It's started. Alright everyone, move fast. Get into places and start treating anyone who comes back to camp."
Antiope motioned for her ten and took off to the tent she would be stationed in, scrambling to finish the preparations.
[Those staying behind can split as they would like. Some leaders are player owned characters, some leaders are nameless members of Tendaji. Those following are the same (both player and non-player driven). No one has arrived in camp yet.]

Chandra Post 8 The reaction from Kennet hadn't been what he was expecting, in all honesty he had braced himself to be punched but instead got a blubbering wailing boy instead. So was he all talk? Grumbling to himself he had dropped his hand and then gone back to his brothers side. Aysun was all that really mattered, he didn't really care what happened to the others...perhaps that was selfish of him but he couldn't bring himself to worry about anyone else besides those close to him. Sticking close to his brothers side he looked around as Antiope instructed people to gather and work together. Wounded would start appearing soon...and it made his stomach clench. Why were kids here? He supposed the only benifit was that they would know right away if their parents were hurt...but was that really better? People were now moving around and he grabbed his brothers hand so that they wouldn't get separated. "should we go find Gran?" he inquired softly.

Sathe (Post 10)
Sathe looked to the source of the noise in the forest and clenched her fists. Hopefully those she knew would not be coming back injured and she could only hope that she wouldn't see them until the battle ended and they had won.
She looked back to Antiope who was already fast disappearing into the tents and looked back to those standing outside of the meeting space. She swallowed hard and tried to push most of her fears away. "I'll take any ten people who want to follow me." Sathe squeaked out, raising her hand to give her some more height and some more attention to herself. She was starting to think that she was a little in over her head, but she would make it work.

Pahana post 8 Pahana blushed as Finnley spoke and feverishly shook her head. No, no, no! She wasn't good enough to be a healer out here, that was a job for her mother! But, her mother wasn't here... Which was actually the best thing ever, for her, at least. They didn't really like one another at the moment... "I think I should just help out where I feel I can be of use!" She chirped, chuckling nervously. "I'm not experienced, I would just be a bother!" Viveka post 9 Viveka squeezed Finnley's hand tightly, happy to be able to provide some comfort to someone else. His nerves had subsided, slightly, contented by the ongoing conversation, and he felt almost relaxed. However, out from seemingly nowhere, he gasped. "Ah! I was supposed to bring Joln'ku here to help!" He cried. "Oh, now my father's probably going to come all the way here with her! I'm such a dolt!" Natsu post 9 "Relax, relax!" Natsu quipped, shaking his head. "Joln'ku's already here, I saw her speaking to Susuya, Qasim, and Kuthun earlier." He patted Viveka's head and gave him a quick kiss, before turning to face the tents. "Well... We'd better find something to do... Or else we'll look disinterested..." He said.
