World Prompt 2
Fight in the Marketplace!
Prompt 2

Solo or RP Format
Can be used toward Battle req (or RP req only if done with a friend)
Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7

The people of Tendaji seem to be settling in - and some in places far from their homeland. The tensions are high, and with the whispers of the Alkidike planning an offensive… well, some have been on edge and ready for a fight. Were the outsiders going to help their people when the time came to fight the extremist Alkidike? Most of the natives to the area had their doubts.

An argument had broken out in the market, verbal at first, but it wasn’t long before it became a physical confrontation.

This prompt can be played from either side: your character can be the instigator, or on the defense.

This battle prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100.

xxxxxPrentice must roll 70-100 for success.
xxxxxStage 2 must roll 60-100 for success.
xxxxxStage 3 must roll 50-100 for success.

Maya yawned and stretched as she passed through the doorway from her home and towards the market. A few things were required for her to trade. A few materials that could help her train the strange beast she had recently acquired. Along with the fact Teiluj had been asking for a type of color neck-thing to go around Tao to show others that he belonged to her. The memory made her smile, Teiluj had been resistant to bonding with Tao at the beginning but as the Radaku had bonded to her, she had slowly grown to love the creature.

Entering the market Maya swallowed, perhaps it was just her but there seemed to be a tangible tension in the air. Trying to brush it off as just an odd day Maya continued to travel deeper into the market. Pausing as a shifter pointed towards her. A pair of Alkidike narrowed their gaze on her and quickly closed the distance.

"Hello sisters." Maya greeted reluctantly.

"Are you the mother of that abomination named Teiluj?"

Maya didn't hesitate before she gave a sharp nod.

There had been a lot of rumors going around, not to mention the tension that seemed to be in the air when it came to his sisters. Rishima had been, at one point, rather content during his stay on Amara. He had seen to escorting two couples to visit with Aisha, visits that resulted in their great mother blessing them with a trio of beautiful lotuses each, something that he'd seen as a good sign. It surely meant that their might be peace. He'd been wrong though, instead it just seemed to get a certain sect of their sisters up in arms against various people, including hybrids, those who weren't sisters that visited Aisha, and everyone living in Jauhar that weren't purebloods. He'd hoped that it was a sort of... phase, had refused to act himself because he didn't want to appear as if he was taking sides.

He'd gone to Aisha, meditating on what it was that he should do beneath her branches, but he'd gotten no flashes of brilliance, no point in the right direction. He was no mystic, would never be able to hear Aisha's voice, meaning that he'd need to figure things out himself. He would need to go forth, get a feel for things, and then decide what it was that he wanted to do. It wasn't as though he could do nothing forever, not when his dearest sister was out there somewhere with her Earthling mate and their three children. What if those sisters with their more 'traditional views' as they were being called, were to try to harm any of them? It was these worries, amongst many others, that had caused the amazon to take up his weapon and go on the move. He didn't want to pick any fights, didn't want to harm any of his sisters no matter their views, but he did want to get a feel for what was going on by seeing it with his own eyes.

It was what had brought him to the marketplace, allowing him to see the various groups intermingling as he couldn't see on the Chibale Isles. It was here that he would be able to figure things out. At least that was what he felt as he walked forward, his mismatched eyes scanning through the crowd, trying to take it all in.

"Pathetic."

"How can you even stand to look after such a Creature" Another snarled, obviously referring to Teiluj.

Maya's hands clenched against her sides. Her eyes narrowed on one Alkidike after another as they crowded around her. "Because Teiluj is my daughter! Because Aisha granted her to me in my care. That's what we do for our kind, we raise the motherless! We protect the young. It doesn't matter who they are, all younglings deserve a chance at life in this world."

"She's tainted and an abomination. You should cast her aside while you still can Maya." Maya winced at the familiar voice. Neibet.

The woman had once been a good sister to Maya, but like the other three Maya had lived with ties had been severed years ago to protect her daughter. Neibet had been the worst offender, always picking on Teiluj always finding ways to sabotage her relationship with the others. She had once even been in love with Maya but that clearly had passed with the way she stood in front of her now.

"Don't speak of her like that." Maya shouted. "Teiluj has a kind heart and is a dear child of mine."

Shouting drew the attention of Rishima, drawing him in the dirrection. He found himself starring at some of his sisters there, though they weren't in the best of sorts, were they? They were argueing about one called... Teiluj? His eyes widened a touch, recalling the tiny little youngling who had once helped him to catch fish when he was preparing to go on one of his journeys. He started in that direction a little quicker then, knowing that if it was Teiluj that they were talking about then it must be Maya who the other sisters were hassling.

He got to where he could see them, coming to a halt when he saw the group that was surrounding Maya, looking far too feral for his liking. Giving a sigh, his hand tightening on his weapon, he started forward toward them. He would keep his pace a calm one, he didn't want to have to fight them if he didn't have to after all. As he got closer he said in as calm a voice as he could muster, "I think that is likely enough, sisters." Why was it, when he looked at them, that he picked a pack of witu picking on a lone aldabuk? It was something that made his heart hurt a bit, to think that they would gang up and assault their fellow sister merely because she was protecting her child. It was... wrong.

Resting the butt of his spear on the ground he gave a smile and said, "Maya, if you would join me for a walk?" He invited his sister, hoping to help to lead her away before things became physical, not wanting to see her hurt.

"A child that broke up our family... what do you want 'b*****d of aisha'" Neibet snarled as she turned her attention to Rishima's entrance.

Maya was acutely aware of the dryness in her throat from the confrontation. She had adored Neibet as a child, and now here she was telling her to abandon her precious person for her. Neibet had been the one to abandon her when they were younger after she had confessed feelings that Maya could not return. Her eyes turned to catch site of the person speaking her name. Giving a soft and thankful smile to Rishima. It had been a long time since she had seen the powerful man.

Nodding Teiluj turned to leave the group. Ready to join Rishima and leave the fight. But that didn't seem to be the case as Neibet stepped forward after having seen the glance between the two. "She's not going with you. Foul beast. We have matters that need to be settled here."

"Enough!" Maya shouted again. Attempting to cut on Neibet before she could do anything towards Rishima.

Neibet's hand raised and connected with Maya's cheek. "Don't speak to me like that. I'm your elder sister, have you really disgraced yourself this much? Friends with the likes of that, raising even worse? I knew you had feelings for an earthling but this!?"

"b*****d of Aisha? That's a new one." They were coming up with more and more creative insults these days he thought to himself, something that made him sigh a little. Finding this sister spewing such insults at him saddened him, not pity for himself but instead sympathy for the younger, mixed blood children of Aisha that shouldn't have to deal with this same old hatred. He turned his attention Maya, giving her a smile, glad to see that at least she was remaining levelheaded in all of this... but it would appear as though they weren't going to just allow her to leave with him, that would be too easy.

"Foul... beast? I can assure you, sister, that I don't plan to do anything so beastly to our sister, merely walk with her." As though he was the one acting like a beast at the moment, "As for 'sorting matters out' I somehow doubt that a friendly conversation needs so many of our sisters as back up." He gave a glance around at the others, giving them as serious a look as he good, in hopes that maybe he could get them to back down. Of course as he was going about this things seemed to get that much more heated between Maya and the more out spoke sister.

Rishima's mismatched eyes went wide as the other sister actually raised a hand, as well as her voice to Maya. How he hated this, the way that everyone was devolving in such a manner, "You are disgracing our great mother more then Maya ever could, acting with only malice in your heart when it comes to those who are your sisters even if they look differently then you." Rishima said, walking forward, placing himself between Maya and the more hostile woman, "I think your negotiations with Maya are through now, sister."

"Rishima..." Maya muttered as he stepped between her and Neibet. Her sad eyes could only stare at his back, her hand reached out towards him. Touching his arm as a few of the sisters started whispering at the name she had spoken. Another stepped forward to lay a hand on her shoulder.

"Neibet we should regroup. That's Rishima, many of the sisters are hesitant to go up against him. Even if he does have horrible things planned for Maya it isn't our concern. He could kill her at this rate for all we care. But they don't want to be in his warpath incase he chooses to defend Maya."

"Tch..." Neibet glared at Rishima and maya.

"I know I took the path that you would never want from me Neibet. I know I let you down, didn't I?" Maya gave a tug on Rishima's arm wanting to pull him back from the fight he had inserted himself into. "This is the last you will see of me..."

Those were the last words Maya truly wanted to speak to Neibet. Turning away from the fight Maya attempted to leave.

Rishima's antennae gave a little twitch as one of the others spoke of him, seeming as though they knew his name. It still surprised him, the reputation that he'd apparently built up for himself. At least it seemed to be helping him though, to the point that the sisters were actually a little intimidated by him. Perhaps not the one called Neibet, but those with her at least. There was a part of him, the more peaceful and amiable part, that wanted to assure the sisters that he had no horrible plans for Maya... but decided against it. If they were intimidated enough that they would retreat then so be it, he didn't mind being seen as scary for the moment if it helped.

"If you will excuse us then, sisters." He said before turning to look at Maya when she gave his arm a tug. He gave her a little nod, moving to walk alongside her. It saddened him that their sisters were so against those like Rishima that they would go as far as to cut ties with those who seemed to be important to them. The old ways were clouding the judgement of their sisters, causing rifts, and it was going to continue to do so as long as there were those like their more extreme and 'traditional' sisters causing trouble.

Looking at Maya he said, "I apologize for interfering in your business but I didn't find the numbers to be at all fair." He didn't like that he was getting into the affairs of others but in this case it was a decision he'd stand by.

Maya walked quietly for a while. She had heard Rishima but didn't feel safe in answering him just yet. It took a while before Maya eventually shook her head. "No, I don't see it as interfering, it has more to do with you and Teiluj than it does me. I mean yes I am involved because I love Teiluj and care for you but worse has happened to my daughter in the market. Worse, much worse. It was spurred on when I sought Neibet for help getting this youngling Alkidike V'demhe back home. She learned that Teiluj was still well and alive. After that, Teiluj had been cornered in the market and severely beaten"

That was the extent of the events that Maya knew. Teiluj had become secretive with her about things as of late, and she blamed that on the Oban she was tending to. Her antenna flicked at the painful memories. "They're getting progressively worse. I want to leave... I probably will... I've tried to convince Teiluj she needs to do the same but that blasted girl wont abandon this Oban, Nkole I think, she's taken to tending to." Maya snarled as she stared up into the trees shaking her head.

"Never mind my words. I'm just glad you aren't hurt." Maya gave Rishima a brief smile before if faded into concern. "They aren't stopping you from traveling to Aisha are they?"

Rishima's eyes went a bit wide at Maya's story, before he gave a shake of his head, "Is she going to be alright? Is she in need of a healer?" He asked, a look of worry on his face when it came to the youngling that he'd met. Sure, she was probably older now, but that didn't mean that he would worry for her. That someone would go as far as to openly attack someone in a crowded marketplace. It had his antennae laying flat against his head as they continued to walk along, with him looking behind them from time to time to make sure they weren't being followed.

He gave a nod, "There was a part of me that prayed that it was just a phase, that they would calm down, and see sense. am starting to feel that I was wrong in hoping that." If they were going to go be acting out, attacking fellow sisters, beating them up, just to prove some old point that shouldn't apply anymore. It was starting to make him think that he would in fact have to take a side. It wasn't what he wanted, he'd only ever wanted to be a part of the Alkidike and he knew that there were others that likely felt the same, "I am sorry, that they would do such a thing. It's beyond reprihensible."

Turning to look over at Maya he asked, "Can she not move her friend along with the two of you?" He was a bit surprised to hear Teiluj had an Oban friend, but he supposed that he couldn't very well be upset with his sister for being so hateful toward their mixed blood sisters while he did the same with the Obans. Not all of them were a part of the war after all, "If the two of you need aid in moving somewhere safer I will offer aid, though I dislike the idea that you are being forced to leave in such a fashion."

Giving her a smile he said, "You needn't worry about me, I know the very real dangers that come along with being... me, especially nowadays. I have been well enough." He thought on her question a moment then said, "They aren't stopping me, though the distaste for my visits to our mother are obvious from some. I get looks, some whisper behind their hands, but not all of them are like that. I can only hope that those who are more... 'traditional' aren't able to influence the rest to their side." He had a feeling that if such a thing happened that not only would he never get to visit Aisha again but he'd be lucky if he was able to even set foot on the Chibale Isles again.

Again maya found herself shaking her head as she continued to walk towards the edge of the village. "As much as I hate to admit it, Teiluj has become a healer, a choice she made because of Nkole. She seems ok now, well physically anyway. She no longer searches the market in the mornings like she used to. She often avoids it now, I fear she may no longer strive to be part of our culture. It used to be what she wanted most."

It pained Maya to admit it but there was little she could do for her child now. She watched Rishima as they walked. "The mystic leads them." Maya changed her gaze from Rishima to the forest ahead of her. "At least that's the rumor anyway. I don't agree with her at all. I couldn't agree with her, not when it threatens Teiluj." Giving Rishima a calmer smile she nodded at his condolences.

"Ah, Nkole? As far as I know she's waiting or him to recover first. I still don't trust him. I have a bad feeling every-time I think of her feelings towards him." Maya's fingers wiggled behind her a subconscious reflex as she wanted to reach for her bow forgetting she had left it back at home. Her hands dropped lifelessly to her side at Rishima's offer. "Do you not have family to protect or return to Rishima?" She had to know, she woudldn't be able to handle it if she was tearing him away from family of his own, or a loved one for that matter.

"Teiluj has become a healer?" He asked, then nodded, "At least that will allow her to take care of her friend, and perhaps, others who get caught up in this senseless conflict." He didn't much care for the idea that others would be hurt, wanting to protect them if he could. He might seek out Teiluj, to see if he might be able to get her aid in healing those amongst their mixed blood sisters who might get dragged into matters against their will. If she was on edge enough that she was avoiding places she nromally went through then he wasn't sure if she'd be willing to aid him in such a venture though.

Rishima nearly tripped over his own feet when Maya mentioned that their sisters were being led by a mystic, finding the information a bit startling, "A... mystic leads them? Which one?" Not that he wanted to consider that even one of the sisters who could speak with Aisha would do such a thing. Eshe, Kadryie, and Aselia, surely none of them would be involved with such people? There was no chance of their being another mystic though, there being three of them was already far more then what was normally supposed to exist after all. From all he'd heard there was only ever supposed to be two at a time, three was unheard of, meaning four wasn't far from likely. He gave a sighing sound, "I can't say it's a rumor I care for." He murmured, resting a hand against his heart for a moment.

Glancing over at Maya he said, "It is very hard to trust them, after what they did, but I know deep in my heart of hearts that not all of them were a part of the war. It's still hard to forgive what they did though. I find that I want to be tolerant of them and their presence but it is difficult." He admitted quietly.

"A... family." He murmured, giving a sigh, "Not in the same sense as you and your daughter, or Jerarda and her family. There are those I care about, those I want to protect, but I have yet to pray to Aisha for a child of my own. First the war with the Obans, now this, I fear it may no longer be in the cards for me." He hated to say such words out loud but if everyone was getting bent out of shape over those with mixed blood and mixed relationships asking Aisha for help... then who was he to do the same? It would only incite more anger. Shaking his head he said, "I should seek out Gerraden at the very least, to see how he is fairing in all of this. He is, like me, half Alkidike, half Shifter, and a man... then add in that he follows Earthling heritage instead of that of our sisters. I fear he might find himself in danger." Not something he liked the thought of.

"Those are her reasons. Apparently getting turned away when she sought help once, was enough to push her there. She's vowed to help anyone who needs it no matter who they are. As long as they are accepting of her help. There are those who refuse her touch simply because of her skin."

Flinching at the mention of the mystic Maya stopped walking and turned to face him full on. "A Mystic they seem to have kept in the shadows for some time. Aselia and the Matron mystic that Eshe replaced, though I wonder how many actually regard Aselia as a mystic because she's so unnatural." Maya lifted her shoulders in a shrugging motion. "It was Neibets words a while ago when the mystic first surfaced. Before all this started. Now it's rolled into a problem I fear is only going to escalate from here."

A pained expression filled Maya as she listened to Rishima, the way he sighed only filled her with grief his words even more. She turned and stepped in from of Rishima. "If you need a place to stay, then stay with me and mine. If you want company to find this Gerraden of yours then... let me travel with you. Of all people you should be allowed to approach Aisha, if your heart wants it. I don't see why the need to push away anyone is so deep within some of the sisters." She paused giving a half laugh. "Besides, I'm not welcome here anymore. And I fear if I linger I may break the relationship between Teiluj and myself." Maya carried on, in truth she was looking for any excuse to leave Ast, to uproot her life and move on yet again.
