Want to be thought of when a third basket finds its way out of a harpy breeding? Have a third harpy basket, but don't know who'd really appreciate it most and stay in the flock?
This thread is for those who hope to someday join the flock the old fashioned way: Being born into it.
-Fill out the form completely
-We would prefer it if your offspring does not follow the "doesn't fit in with the other harpies, and wants something more, out there, in the unknown beyond the flock" or "homg he's male FLEE FLEE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT" sorta concepts. :/ We'd like the flock to have some strength to it and grow, rather then break apart. @A@
- RPers are preferred, but plotters are required.
- REMEMBER: if you get a boy, unless he escapes he can only RP and plot within the flock. This is NOT a bad thing -- we have plenty of active RPers and are seeking more, and we're friendly friendly people.
- Obviously, you have to be picked by the owners with the baskets to get in
- Keep your entry fresh by updating the header to show you're still interested.
-IMPORTANT: If you win a Harpy Basket, please Say when you won a harpy basket, either from a breeding or a gift, at the top of your post if you desire to keep your entrance posted, and remove the temper/personality you use for it .you are free to update your entry with a new personality, and to keep the other genders personality up.

Uhm, so far. I've never gotten a basket. I've been a good co-owner though, I believe. I have full RP rights to one of my co-owns and I try to RP her much, though I've had a bit of difficulty finding her RP over the holidays.
I love to RP and to write. I'm home most of the times as I'm a housewife. I have plenty of time to RP. It occasionally might take me a week to respond (like this week that I've been sick and lost 8lbs in 3 days). But I will get to it, and I will be polite. I work well with others. I'm open and friendly, and I try not to be abrasive but listen and respond accordingly.
Most of my soqs are from October/November on and they're stats are almost in the 50's. The ones from before that (except Arden) are in that range too. They would have been maxed by now, had we not had internet issues when we moved. But the stats show that I actively RP as many and as much as I can.
Unfortunately...I ramble alot. Sorry!

I could pump myself up and say all sorts of things, and if I was mean, I could try and bash down everyone else. But I won't do that, because it's not who I am. I want to be picked, because I love the Flock; a lot. I've loved it since Mind told me about it over a year ago. I want to get farther into the reaches, role-play more, develop more, have more Harpies and stallions join in the ranks. I want so much to have everything, and at the same time, I know that the slim chances I get are all I get. I would respect the family, role-play with them, develop with them. I would treat the basket as a gift from high heaven, and ensure she or he is well taken care of. And, of course, I would keep them well within the Flock, and help develop everyone within the Flock, so that it can grow and expand into the awesomeness everyone knows it is.

Username: pinchmonster Soquili's Name: Female -- Gazbiyya (I have no attachment to the name and I am willing to change it to something that might better fit the family). Gazbiyya is Arabic for "charm, attractiveness" and I think it suits her perfectly. Even fresh from her basket she would show these traits, and I like to think she'd be given the name because of that. Male -- Latif (I have no attachment to the name and I am willing to change it to something that might better fit the family). Latif is Arabic for "gentle, kind" - He wasn't given the name because he IS gentle and kind, but because he is expected to be this way. Temper:Female: Calculating. Male: Accepting. Personality of Soquili:Female: Gazbiyya has always been a curious filly and in her curiousness she might come off as a bit nosy. She really isn't. An adventurer at heart, Gaz really just wants to know the secrets behind everything. Perhaps she got this trait in particular from her papa, it's really hard to say. She's a stubborn thing and really won't believe it until she sees it for herself. Quick-witted, Gaz prefers to deal in facts. She has no time for dreams and silly games, even as a filly. A serious little thing, Gazbiyya loves to learn. She's like a sponge in that aspect, soaking up whatever she can however she can. Gaz doesn't take anyone's words as truth -- she prefers to make her own decisions in every matter that possible. All of the females hold rank and males are good for nothing more than providing daughters (and sometimes worthless sons) and gathering supplies for different professions. I'm not the most active person in the Soquili thread, honestly, but I do lurk daily. I hope this doesn't effect judging. I am far more active in SoA and that is where my RPs happen but I'm eager to broaden my horizons and RP within Soquili as well. I am always available via AIM (late night kicks) and my PM box is always open, as well. I am not looking for simple sig-candy and I would be dedicated to RPing the foal. (adult) Tes is a highly competitive, and lethal harpy. She prides herself in her strength, intelligence, and cunning and hopes that one day she may reach the rank of Head Huntress, or one of the Head Guards. Loving the society of her people for their order and justice, Tesni wouldn't leave them if she thought she'd be helping them in the end. She would eventually leave on a quest to hone her abilities by challenging others stronger than her and return when satisfied. I imagine she would make frequent trips home if she crosses males she finds particularly drawn too, bringing them back either upon their own wills... or not.

Role playing is one of my favorite thing about gaia. I've been role playing since about 05/06 and plan on continuing for a very long time. I am very active. I expect you probably have seen me posting around the thread and guilds. I check the thread daily, and lurk most of my afternoon. In fact, soquili is about the only shop I am active in, so I focus most of my time (about 95% over all) on the shop.
Will the offspring stay in the flock?:
Male? Undoubtedly. He loves the life he's given and would fight to stay with the ones he's grown so close too. If female, I expect will until she becomes bored with her life. She may want to venture out to learn new abilities; ex: fighting stronger adversaries (skinwalkers, kalona, etc.) but she would certainly return to help her flock, once she matures and is satisfied with what she learned.

I'm a huge plotter. I love forging intricate lives for my B/C pets and role playing them out, and I don't think you would be able to find anyone more dedicated to their pets than I am. =]

Username: Bardess Ookami Soquili's Name: Shalador Temper: Musical Personality of Soquili: Making music for others to dance to, or dancing herself, both of those passions are the very life she lives, given her druthers. Never much one for hunting, or for violence, she wants to dance. To her, drumming is dancing with only her fore hooves, singing is dancing with her voice, wind instruments are dancing with her breath. She enjoys creating new instruments and sounds, but her love is in the dance and the performance. Do you RP?: Always. Actively. Constantly. Yes. Example(s) of RP: Shalador looked out on the plains. It was her first solo excursion from the flock. She was both terribly excited and somewhat afraid. Not that she dared to show that fear, of course. She had to be strong, like all her sisters. She was afraid often, but could never show it. At times, she wondered if the other sisters felt that way; afraid, but more afraid to show the fear then to express it. Well, this journey was her own fault, so she would just have to do it and be done. And never mind the whispers from some of her sisters that this was an excuse to find a male. It most certainly was NOT. The problem was, none of the trees around the flocks had the right kind of wood for the new flute she was making. She kept trying, but they all sounded just off, just wrong. Well, no, that wasn't true. She had found a single branch that worked, but it was too small to make a proper flute and the tree it came from.... She shuddered. Compared to asking the queen for permission to carve a chunk from THAT tree, an adventure suddenly seemed far safer and more welcoming. Head high, she set off with the small branch she had already carved. At least she knew the kind of tree she wanted, and that it existed. There had to be another like it out there... somewhere. And the sooner she found it and could return home... the better. She needed to be back before the next festival, certainly. Missing the dancing would be a horror indeed. How active are you in Soquili?: In the main thread, not so much. In the rps in the guild, much more. I also chat with the people I rp with, for the most part, via aim and/or yahoo. Will the offspring stay in the flock?: yep! One of her greatest dreams is to dance and sing and play for the queen, not on a day of dancing, not at a festival, but because she was deemed good enough. I don't feel I "Deserve it" or "Should be gifted" any more then anyone else. I would love a basket, and would rp with the herd, and I think I would be fun to play with. Okay, so he doesn't talk quite like that, but that's the gist. He likes to invent new ways to make things blow up. It's hard to tell if that's just him, or something more sinister. Do you RP?: Always. Actively. Constantly. Yes. Example(s) of RP: It was easy, being little. No one asked too much of him, and he didn't have to play with the others, if he didn't wanna. And he usually didn't. Asuk would happily sit and play with the various things he found. This time he found some herbs he had never seen before riiiiiiight at the edge of the grazing ground. He reached his neck out and streeeeeeeeched until he reached them and pulled them in. then he looked at them and tried rubbing them together, and smelled them. That was interesting! He found a feather one of the adults had shed and added that, mashing the herbs onto the feather, until the feather was covered in green bits of ick. Cool! But how would it smell hot? Food smelled better when the adults cooked it, would this smell better cooked? He looked around for a good rock and struck his talons (or hooves) against it several times, just like the adults did. Finally a spark landed on the feather. There was a single moment where one might have thought this was not going to go well. Then the feather EXPLODED. A small blast sounded, probably drawing the attention of all the adults, and blowing back his mane. a small burnt bit of feather stuck to his nose. His eyes widened, and he looked about to cry. Instead a single word burst from his mouth where others might have chosen an explicative. "COOL!" Heedless of the others around him, he hurriedly went to gather more herbs.... and to hunt for bigger feather. How active are you in Soquili?: In the main thread, not so much. Then it will be very rp dependent. If he's given freedom to make his explosions far from the flock, and treated well, he's very likely to stay. If he's treated poorly, kept from his alchemical bombs, or very restricted, then he might try to escape, and maybe bring some others with him, if he could manage it, or intentionally hurt them enough that they'll be pampered, not worked. He'd never let on that he's doing that though, or that he notices the other males, or even cares. If he falls into the talons of one who cruelly mistreats him, he will probably have to be exiled for the good of the flock, else he might try to blow them all up. But again, if he's treated as the info says most well behaved males born into the flocks are, then he'll be content to stay and do his experiments, only leaving if some one comes to lure him away or kidnap him. Username: dracoXK Soquili's Name: Female TBC Male TBC -I like to see them before making a full name. but I would go back and look at harpy lore/names in order to find one I like Temper:Female deep-rooted, Male Loafing Personality of Soquili:Female She fully believes that males are lesser creatures to the fullest. She will breed to have offspring, but other then that will not spend time with males if she can help it. Males are tools used to support the growth of the flock, nothing more. Her goal is to become one of the guards for the flock. She does like to have fun, but fun to her is protecting the other females of the flock. Durring childhood games she would always pick the role of a fighter. Sometimes she is seen as a bit of a nark, because she would watch others around her and if something was terribly wrong she would inform others. Male oh lazy, but cunning. Though he rebelled once in his youth against the bonds of the flock he learned how to use the system to help him. you see he came to the realization that he was a 'kept' stallion. He does not see this as a 'slave' but as he just fallows the few rules and all he has to do is eat and breed. he is one that likes being a concubine of sorts. he loves his flock and their traditions. He will do something if its needed, hes not a total bum-around, its just, he likes the pleasure of being a kept male of not having any responsibility over the flock as a leader. I will say i live in New Zealand and I am not always online at the same times as others, normally i have time for Gaia at night, which can be between 11PM to 5AM pst. I am also in a place that has had a major earthquake so mind is here and not. BUT! I am on IM and e-mail a lot and love to RP that way, or PM. Example(s) of RP: Noises that had not gotten her attention while she was practicing now reached to her brain. She turned her sweat soaked body to a crowd. As she looked a male, she had never seen before, broke away from the females around him. It seems that her sisters had brought some new blood into the flock. She would be upset over another male, if they were not needed for making more harpies. the male was coming right at her, did he think that because she was a foal she was weak? a weak link in the chain of female command? HA! he could only wish. Moving into a battle stance (Name) was ready for him. It did not matter that he broke away from some of her sisters already, she would fight to her death to show the male where he belonged in this flock. ~~~ The red-maned male peeked his head out and looked around. He could tell there was a new member joining the heard, the females all buzzed in a way that could only mean fresh meat. But, the question that plagued (name) was the gender of the new one? Ok, yes he could get in trouble for sneeking out now, but he really wanted to know. The Queen's attention was on the newcomer so (name) thought he had a chance to catch a glimps, that and he was the youngest and smallest of the males so much easier to peek and get back with out being noticed...he hoped anyway. It was hard to see anything really, all the females seemed to be gathering around, which meant two things, a female or a fighting male. He did not venture to far away from the Safe-Zone, moving to the middle of the action was like asking to be kicked out, but he moved around the perminiter, eyes pealed for any glimps. As a wing moved he caught the sight of a male bucking against the females. He could not help his ears flicker in annoyance, he hoped no one got hurt. Sighing he turned around and headed back to the Safe-Zone, at least there he could get away from the new stallion for a while. Being that the male was fighting he was going to need a lot of looking after before someone dropped him off here How active are you in Soquili?: Not a big thread goer, I tend to get lost in there or I am online at my night time which is the early hours of the morning for most. But I am around in pretty much all events and always open to IM/PM/e-mail RPs. Will the offspring stay in the flock?: both will stay with the flock. The girl will never leave (though might travel as a bodyguard from time to time). If the boy leaves (I am willing to hear out someone's plot if it's needed) he will fight like hell to find the flock and come back. He does not want to be anywhere else. Why do you feel you should get a basket/be picked as co-owner for a foal?: I'ma WoW addict lol. I know a bit about the harpies and would totally do my best to be active in the flock. I think it looks like a lot of fun, and though the flock has a bit of rules, its easy to see why they are in place. It also seems like a fun community to play around in. bright colors and fun times biggrin !

She is very determined and willing to learn the way of the flock and protect her family. She very much wants to be accepted in the flock and wishes to learn everything she can. When permitted she does enjoy seeing and speaking with her father and other males of the flock as she is curious of the world they came from, but whispers are heard, carried on the wind and such questions she cannot ask, not yet. She wishes to learn all she can to better serve her family and protect her family in the future Male Creagan is loyal to the flock and is obedient to a fault. He has no desire at even his young age to explore or leave The Flock. He observes all around him, learning quietly of their ways, ways to better serve and protect them as he grows stronger. He does enjoy the company and light conversation with his father, but doesn't care to learn of the outside world. He is content with his life, wanting to grow stronger. He is protective of the smaller females and even the larger adults. He is dedicated to his training and does as he is told, but he does leave room to play he is a foal after all. The females run the show, whereas the males being the bottom of the pack, no freedoms unless earned, and even then those freedoms are fairly restricted.
You are a young foal in the nursery when all of a sudden a recently captured male comes bursting through. How do you as a young foal react?Female- Rosaline Rosaline was still very young, just out of the basket so her curiosity was at an all time high. She would wander around the flock 'taking in the sights', though her mother wasn't too far away. She was excited to learn about everyone's role in the flock, but before she could ask many questions there was a small commotion of to her left. She trotted closer wanting to get right in the middle of everything, but she was kept a certain distance back by some of the flock members. She huffed when they wouldn't let her move closer, but she could at least see enough to see that one of the elder Harpies had a male with her. She learned not long before that stallions that traversed into their territory were captured to never leave. Most became just a little more then property of the captor. She was still a tad confused as to why this was, but one thing was clear. Once they were captured they would never leave. She looked to the male with curious eyes, he was roped around the neck as now 2 adult female harpies led him to the area were the males were kept. It was then that under the watchful gaze of several of the harpies females she decided to turn her attention to something else and went the opposite way. This of coarse was just to escape the eyes of the others. She planned to sneak around to where the males were kept to try and talk with the male. ................................. She studied the others movements as she ventured around being nosy about what the roles of some of the others were. It wasn't until after the sun started to set that she was able escape the many eyes around her. She approached the males and found the new male towards the back. She looked him over and tried to get his attention. At first he ignored her along with all the other males. She didn't like being ignored so she ventured in amongst the males. The males did not notice her as the new male was kinda gruff. He still tried to ignore her, but it was hard to do so when she stated to tug on his tail. He turned to look at her, "You shouldn't be here young one." She frowned at him and held her ground. "So, I wanted to know something. Where did you come from? What's your home like? Do you have family? What's your favorite color, and food? What was your favorite game as a colt? Oh an What ab....", she was firing questions left and right and he finally cut her off. He looked at her and sighed, he knew she wasn't going to go away so he started answering her questions one at a time slower then the speed she asked them. They chatted for awhile until she was suddenly dragged away from the males by one of the females her mom not fa away. "OW, let go of my tail, I was just talking to him!", she was mad but was quickly swung around and released to see the queen and her mother. Her color drained from her face, she was in trouble. She ran behind her mother as the queen spoke quietly to her and a few others until the queen walked away and one of the commanders looked to her and her mother and spoke sternly, "Consider this your one and ONLY warning. Teach your daughter Mitra....teach her well!" With a nod of her mothers head they were left alone. Her mother looked at her, not needing to say anything. "Im sorry momma.", was all Rosa said as she and her mother made their way back to their nest, where she was to start learning the strict Harpy ways. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Male- Creagan Creagan liked being around his mother and the other females, but being male he was restricted even having been born into the flock. Still he didn't mind and didn't complain. He liked playing with some of the other young colts and even some of the stallions. But most of his time was spent slowly learning the ways of the flock, he observed everything. He was slightly curious but only to the extent that he wanted to learn how he could best serve and one day protect all flock members. It was then that there was a small commotion, it seemed another stallion had been captured. He was admittedly curious of the new-comer, but not the extent as some of the other stallions and young colts. The new stallion was soon put in the area with others and he was soon swarmed and asked questions and greetings. Creagan moved away from the group to continue to observe the different roles of the mares. It was soon noticed by some of the mares that he was the only one unconcerned with the new arrival. It wasn't long for a few mares to approach him. They looked from him to the others still talking with the new-comer. "Why do you not converse with the others?", was the question he was asked. He glanced up at the mare but quickly lowered his eyes out of respect. "Im not interested in the lower male, I have no desire to learn about him.", his tone was low and calm. The mares whispered to one another and then addressed him again, "Lower male you said, explain." He was worried for a second, had he said something wrong, but he had no choice but to answer. "Im in no way noble like yourselves, but I carry the blood within my veins, where as he and most of the others do not. I have no desire to learn of the world outside of the flock. This is my home and family, I will learn as instructed." His voice did not waver and his sincerity could not be questioned. The mare nodded and replied in an intrigued voice, "I see, that is impressive to hear from one so young. One day gathering knowledge of the world outside the flock may prove useful. Remember that when your older." He nodded in response and saw that the mares were smiling at the colt as they walked away. It was then he decided to join the other males and he would at least the greet the new male whether he wanted to be greeted or not. Most males didn't want to be there upon arrival and after awhile only a few are still slightly rebellious, or so he's been told. He didn't ask the stallion any questions he merely listened and observed all of them as he usually did. It once again became calm, just another day within the flock. ((could be better, but that's all I've got right now...my mind is tired shouldn't have tried so many rp contests and things at once XD)) How active are you in Soquili?:Active, but not as much as I'd like in thread(for a few reasons) and the like, but I am getting back in the swing of things Will the offspring stay in the flock?: Yes, especially if male ^_^ Why do you feel you should get a basket/be picked as co-owner for a foal?: I am very interested in the Harpies in and out of The Flock and I can adapt to any plot, rp style to suit those I rp with. I really do love the Harpies and would love to be a part of their awesomeness. And also everything about The Flock, the background and all the info is so interesting and sparks my interest even more. I do have a custom I am planning, but who knows when she will be obtained and I haven't decided if she's to be a part of the Flock but I do want to be a part of the flock in someway if not with her ^^ -03/18/2011:this was my entry for Chaos and Pippi's basket contest so names and general temper could vary depending on parents, especially names- *note:This needs to be severely edited now as I dont think these fit most of the Harpy families...names and personalities would be different and vary from couple to couple...eventually I will edit this again....at least find better names xD

Username: Angelique DelaMort Soquili's Name: Female Kyre’ae Male Ela’ae Temper: Female Prima Donna Male Dulcet Personality of Soquili: Female Kyre’ae was put on this planet to do just one thing – dance! Of course to be the best dancer she has to float with the grace of the eagle - dipping, diving as the powerful birds of prey do. And naturally she has to look the part, feathers preened to perfection to shine and flash in the dance of the hunter or be silky and smooth for the dance of the water and sky. She is a devoted student to her craft and aspires to win the queen’s crown during the Tenth Day of Spring festival. But for now she practices, and dreams of dancing under the full moon knowing full well she’ll make her dreams come true, no matter the cost. Male Ela’ae is typically the reserved, silent type, usually saying no more than a few words together at a time. He doesn’t like to draw attention to himself or get into confrontations (he knows those end badly), and he knows he can’t really hunt or explore or be a leader, these are female things. But, Ela’ae also knows there is something inside of him that wishes to emerge. A song, soft but persistent, yearning to find a voice. And so on his own, or as much on his own as he can be, separating himself from the other males and of course the nannies -he doesn’t want to disturb them- Ela’ae hums to himself. With a quiet certainty the notes vibrate through his body, giving him a measure of peace and a feeling of accomplishment, because while there are many things that he can’t do, he knows he’s good at this. Do you RP?: I try to but I’m terribly out of practice and have never been good at epic rp. But I am willing to learn and happy to help plot! Example(s) of RP: - My examples are somewhat limited since I’ve been in the shop a short time and have only two soquili at the moment – but they’re improving as I get a better feeling for the characters. Aside from that, my PMs are always open and I’m generally on Gaia every day, even if it’s to just check my PMs quickly. Will the offspring stay in the flock?: After reading up on the flock, I have to admit it’s a fascinating society. I appreciate the challenge that comes with rping in such a detailed culture and certainly would not deny the offspring or myself the opportunity to be part of it. Why do you feel you should get a basket/be picked as co-owner for a foal?:Ever since I stumbled into the shop I have admired the fearsome soquili with bird claws. I was impressed with the both fearsome and regal appearance of these pets and hoped to somehow acquire one of my own. All this was before I learned about their culture which is a fun mix of classic Amazon mixed with some not so evil Drow – again, I admit rping in this environment with a pre-constructed set of rules and customs will be challenging, but it’s just the type of RP spice that helps someone grow as a writer. Outside of Gaia I enjoy dabbling in women’s studies and I am particularly interested in traditional gender roles – I think rping in the Flock will shed some new insight or at least make me think a little more on the significance of these roles and how they affect individuals. With all this, I hope to have that opportunity to learn, grow, and be a part of the community.
