Sakelo followed the princess to wherever she was going. It was a good thing she was hot, because he really wasn't sure what he was doing at this point. His ordinary boring day had turned into some kind of wacky convoluted train ride through a dysfunctional family and it wasn't even lunch time yet. If this got much weirder he would bail.
He probably should have bailed already, but he had put in a lot of effort to bang this princess, and he didn't want to go skulking off empty-pawed. Sexy hyena chicks were kind of hard to find. They tended to be all snarly and burly. That was kind of hot, but Zalika had a special kind of bitchy-prissy hotness that was made her stand out. And she was awfully cute when she was mad, which was a good thing because Sakelo could already tell that she was mad most of the time.
"So you get your good looks from your mom, huh?" Sakelo said, trying to make some conversation. "You don't look anything like your dad." It was a pretty sure bet that she would be flattered by this statement, seeing how irritated she was by her father.

Zalika was feeling a little off-put by Sakelo's constant comments about her looks, but she also kind of liked it. It was about time someone around here recognized her beauty and appreciated it for what it was. Her brothers were too stupid and so was her cousin, her dad was the most retarded hyena she'd ever met in her young life and Sudaj was just... well, she stayed as far away from Sudaj as she could. He was just plain creepy.
Despite how much she liked his off-handed compliments, now was not the time. The only thing he was doing was pissing her off and annoying her beyond comparison. "You should be thankful I don't look anything like my dad," she spat, "or else I'd worry something was wrong with you." She picked up the pace, eager to tattle on Bekeli. She hoped her mother would do something about this, she really did.
Spotting Bahari in the near distance, Zalika let out a shrill, "MOTHER!!" that ended in a whine that sounded eerily like Bekeli.

Sakelo Feisty! Sakelo shut up, but he didn't mind being snapped at. It was cute being snapped at by the younger hyena. She sure was touchy, wasn't she? She definitely needed to do something about that screeching, though. That wasn't very sexy. It hurt his ears a bit. Trying not to wince, he looked over in the direction she was screaming at. There was another hyena there, a big buff female that looked quite a lot like Zalika. Only not nearly as dainty and cute. Zalika really was the spitting image of her mom, but with the addition of adorable white booties and a sexy fluffy white mane and tail. He straightened up a bit, trying to look presentable to Zalika's mom, and smiled politely at her. "How do you do," Sakelo said. The perfect picture of a well-mannered male hyena was a bit spoiled by the screeching female next to him, but oh well. Bahari Bahari had been enjoying the peace and quiet. For once everyone seemed to be off doing their own thing. She hadn't heard the explosion of screams that was her son Kepo encountering her nephew Kele, Kero's neverending prattle, Manyara's blisteringly stupid observations on life in general, or Bekeli's ... Bekeli-ness. It was nice. There had been some yelling earlier, but it had quieted down. She assumed Dikeledi had told whoever it was to shut up. But then there came the screaming, and directed at her this time. She sighed, disappointed but none too surprised. Turning to see her daughter, Bahari smiled. Zalika could be a bit prissy, but there was nothing outright irritating about her. Besides, she was the chosen heir. "Zalika," Bahari called cheerfully, oblivious to Zalika's obvious foul mood. "I see you've found a friend." She nodded regally to the male trailing along in Zalika's wake. She had never seen him around before, but if he was patiently trotting along with her daughter then there didn't seem to be anything threatening about him. He looked fairly clean and spiffy.

Zalika "Hurry up," she hissed under her breath, drawing closer to Bahari with every purposeful step. That low whisper was offset by the next shrieking wail that Zalika let out, one filled with all the indignation she could muster. "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. LOOK at this." She gestured madly with one be-bootied paw, "LOOK what Bekeli left outside of my den. OUTSIDE OF MY DEN. He was there when I woke up and he said that Bekeli BROUGHT him to my den and just LEFT him there. I want to know what you're going to do. I suggest cutting off Bekeli's ears. I demand justice and retribution! What if Sakelo hadn't been a ... nice male, what if he'd tried to KILL ME?!" Bekeli Bekeli was feeling really, really good as he returned to the clan lands. He was far enough away that he was blissfully ignorant of the tempest he'd left in his wake when he'd dropped Sakelo off at Zalika's den this very morning. He'd found his daughter a mate! Not just ANY daughter, but the heir to the throne! That had to be some kind of accomplishment, right? He would get accolades, and Zalika's thankful voice would be ringing forever in his ears. He couldn't wait. Excited now, he moved faster, anticipating the daughterly attentions he would soon be receiving.

Sakelo Sakelo did wince this time at the siren-like shriek. They were right in front of her mother now, there was no reason for her to keep carrying on! This girl sure had a voice on her. If she wasn't careful she was going to make herself hoarse with all the yelling. "Hey," he protested, taking a step away from her to protect his ears a bit. "I'm a perfectly nice male." It was satisfying to know that he had made a good impression on her despite all of her screaming and fury, but she was being kind of a drama queen about the whole situation in his opinion. He didn't want to tell her that in front of her mother, though. Bahari Bahari was impassive in the face of Zalika's wrath, but she was wincing inside. She didn't know why all the pups were so loud and screamy. She didn't remember being so loud. Hopefully her next batch would have the volume turned down a bit. Considering Zalika's dreadful tale, she eyed the strange male. He didn't look much like a ruffian. "He seems fine," she said, trying to calm Zalika down a bit. "Bekeli probably knew how much you wanted a boyfriend and was trying to help." She was usually a fairly insightful hyena, but following ancient momming instincts, Bahari was utterly heedless of the total embarrassment she might bring to her daughter with this statement. She frowned. "I'll have to talk to him, though. He could have put you in danger." And, speak of the devil, there was a somewhat whiffy scent approaching them. Bahari turned, staring at the scruffy male trotting towards the little group. She didn't know what to do with him.

Zalika Zalika's jaw dropped as she realized what her mother was saying, exactly. She shouldered away from Sakelo and said in a harsh whisper that (hopefully) only Bahari could hear. "Mom! You're EMBARRASSING ME!!" Another whine that would make Bekeli proud squealed through Zalika's nostrils before she stepped away -- and it was then that she caught sight of the unluckiest hyena in the world -- her father. An odd stillness came over Zalika, an odd, eerie stillness. Things were going to get really hairy. Bekeli Ahh, what luck! Both his lovely Queen Bahari and his ...ungrateful-looking daughter, Zalika. With great apprehension he slowed as he approached, changing his direction so that Bahari was strategically placed between Zalika and himself. No, she didn't look happy but then again she didn't look utterly pissed, either. "Good morning?" he asked, nervously clearing his throat. His dark eyes shot between Bahari, Sakelo and Zalika. She wasn't running at him with bright happy eyes and welcoming paws, but then again she wasn't attacking him either.

Sakelo Sakelo hadn't lived with group of hyenas since leaving home himself, but he hadn't lost his instincts for trouble. Something was about to go down. He was tempted to sidle back out of the way, but he figured he should remain at Zalika's side. Despite how crazy this was getting, he still thought she was pretty sexy. And her mom seemed to like him, which was a positive. He stood quietly, not wanting to open his mouth and get in trouble with either of the cranky females. Sakelo couldn't help smiling, though, amused at Bahari embarrassing Zalika. He had pretended not to hear, to be polite, but it had been hard to miss. Bahari Bahari was torn. Bekeli's intentions had been good. It was good to see Zalika with a boyfriend. She hadn't really wanted to see Zalika traipsing around the rogue lands trying to find a boyfriend on her own. But inviting a strange hyena into the dens without the permission of the queens? Bekeli wasn't known for having fabulous judgment. He had happened across a decent-seeming male, but Sakelo could very well have been some kind of lunatic. She fixed Bekeli with a frown as he approached. "Bekeli," she said. "Zalika says you dragged this male back to her den while she was sleeping."

Zalika Zalika was eerily calm. It was almost unnatural to look at. She stood still, her ears pinned flat against her head. Her beloved coat was dusty and she looked rather bedraggled (which in itself was a strange thing to behold). Those crimson eyes were locked dead on Bekeli, and her nostrils flared with deep breaths. She looked regal, she looked every bit the princess she was and she also looked insane. Furiously insane. Bekeli Bekeli let out a low whine, one that gained momentum and pitch as it went on in length. The cry ended with a feeble, "Heeeehhhmmmm," as he shifted on his feet, tail lashing and head lowered like any proper male would greet his Queen (and future Queen who just happened to be his firstborn). "He is nice," Bekeli offered, "and ... and ... Zalika needed a boyfriend! She needed a consort I was just trying to be nice and do the right thing, MY BEAUTIFUL QUEEN!!"

Sakelo Sakelo was starting to rethink standing next to Zalika. She looked like she might explode at any second. She might like him (he was pretty sure she did, in fact) but if he was caught in the crossfire between her and her father he didn't think she'd hesitate to bite him in the face. The brown hyena began slowly edging to one side. He still didn't speak. He would wait until the females truly focused their wrath on Bekeli before opening his mouth. Bahari Bekeli was obviously aware that he had done something wrong. Bahari continued staring at him, subtly blocking Zalika's way. She didn't want Zalika to outright murder the poor scraggly dope. "You once tried to give me a crown made of dung," Bahari said irritably. "What if you brought home a bad hyena? What if he tried to hurt Zalika in her sleep?!"

Zalika First her mother, and now Bekeli? Why did they think she was incapable of finding her own consort?! She was smart, she was pretty, she was a princess, what wasn't to LIKE?! Obviously Sakelo had taken an instant liking to her, she could probably have a hundred consorts if she wanted to! A thousand, even! Males would throw themselves at her feet, that's how utterly beautiful and glorious she was. She wasn't a stupid and dumb female! She did like the way her mother was handling this, though. It pleased her to see Bekeli squirm under the spotlight. He looked like a little bug that was just about to be squashed under a giant paw. It was fantastic. Bekeli "He didn't, my Queen, but you are right as always. I was not thinking," Bekeli whined in annoyance. He could never do anything right! He shot Sakelo a thoughtful look before glancing at Zalika. "If Zalika does not want him, we can give him to Kibibi. She is in need of a Consort as well, and as you said Sakelo is a nice male. I am sure Kibibi will welcome him with open paws."

Sakelo Despite the worry of the females turning on him, Sakelo was kind of enjoying this little confrontation. He hadn't taken a liking to Bekeli. For a tense few minutes, he had been pretty sure Bekeli was going to feed him to some kind of underground monster. Or possibly rape him. Sakelo didn't want to see the poor guy get beaten up, but he had to admit he liked seeing Bekeli in trouble. He definitely didn't like Bekeli talking about him like he was some object, though. It was one thing to get bullied by Zalika. At least she was cute. "Hey," Sakelo said, speaking up for the first time. "I don't want to be given to anyone! I'm a free hyena! I just came over to meet Zalika to be nice! From the way Bekeli was talking about her, I thought she was some poor ugly toothless girl that was just desperate for a boyfriend." Bahari Bahari shot Sakelo a glare meant to silence him, but she felt a terrible urge to laugh welling up inside. Only the knowledge that Zalika would surely lose her mind if Bahari laughed kept her quiet. "Bekeli!" she snapped, glaring at the luckless male. "You could have put Zalika in terrible danger. You should be exiled!" She didn't actually intend to exile him, but putting some fear in him wouldn't hurt.

Zalika Wait, what?! She didn't want KIBIBI to have Sakelo! Sakelo belonged to her! Bekeli had given him to HER!! Her mind was still roiling over that when Sakelo spoke and an eerie calm crept over Zalika again. An eerie, out of character calm. The calm before the storm. A sound rose from Zalika's throat, one that sounded as if someone was slowly, slowly deflating a balloon. That whine swiftly transformed into something ungodly. That ungodly sound erupted into a full blown shriek of death and doom and destruction and it was only then -- with eyes wide and frantic, teeth bared -- that Zalika leapt at her father. She would KILL him. Bekeli Bekeli had expected a stern paw-slap and maybe a swat on the nose and then he would be on his way. He had not expected Zalika to strike in a furious hurricane of flailing limbs and bared teeth. A frightened scream burst from his lips as he tried to hide behind Bahari. "NOOOOO!" he shrieked, eyes wide with fear and spittle flying from his mouth. She would kill him! He would be dead, and then Bahari would find a different male to give her pups! HIS PURPOSE IN LIFE WOULD BE OVER!!!

Sakelo Sakelo dove out of the way. Okay, so he had kind of expected an angry reaction from Zalika, but he hadn't actually expected her to go insane. Should he get in the middle of it? Did he want to lose an eye, and destroy his chances to bang Zalika?! The answer to both questions was no. Sakelo backed away, staring as Zalika tried to attack Bekeli and Bekeli tried to hide behind Bahari. Bahari Bahari suddenly found herself stuck between two screaming, flailing hyenas. For just a second, a split second, she remembered how life had been before she and Dikeledi had decided to form a clan. It had been lonely and often hungry, but it had been so quiet. Then she came back to earth. "Stop it!" Bahari yelled, shouting to make herself heard over the chaos as she maneuvered to keep herself between the two hyenas. "Zalika! Stop trying to kill your father! Bekeli! Shut up!" She didn't want to reprimand Zalika in front of two males, but this was getting out of hand. "This is making a very bad impression on your consort!"

Zalika BREATHE. IN. OUT. IN. OUT. Zalika tried so hard to completely calm herself, she tried so hard to just... gather up what remnants of shredded dignity she could gather and just walk away with her head held high. She tried so hard to just leave Bekeli and Sakelo behind with her mother and just waltz away and try and calm down just a little. Just a little. Thankfully her mother had enough calmness for everyone on the planet and her words slapped Zalika upside her face. Bahari was right. This was no way for a PRINCESS to act. "MOTHER." She didn't quite scream the word but she didn't quite speak it softly, either. "You need to speak to YOUR CONSORT about the proper way to treat a PRINCESS." Her body rigid, she glared at Bekeli for a split second before turning to Sakelo. "You will be my consort. If I ever catch you LOOKING at Kibibi I will TEAR your eyes from your skull! You will stay away from her!!" That being said, Zalika stormed off back to her den in order to calm herself, not that it would help. She would always be uppity. Bekeli Bekeli peered out at Sakelo from behind Bahari. He offered a shaken smile, oblivious to the spit that ran down his chin and swept up into his hair. He'd been a flailing mess trying to get away from his daughter, and that was evident by his uneasy stance, one that only relaxed after his daughter had taken her leave. "I knew she would like you," he whined, a gleeful tone in his voice. He looked at Bahari. "I knew she would like him," he mumbled gleefully.

Sakelo Sakelo wasn't terribly afraid of the dainty (and enraged) princess, but he took an inadvertent step back when she turned on him. Jeez. He had marched in here as a free hyena, and now he had this whole crazy family ordering him around like he was some kind of ... possession. He wasn't taking it seriously yet, but it was a little weird. It was good though, right? It was good that Zalika felt possessive over him. She wasn't going to be the easy lay that he had expected from Bekeli's prattling, but she sure would be worth it when he finally managed to get into her fur. "I won't look at Kibibi," Sakelo agreed, careful staying out of bite-range. Of course, he had no idea who Kibibi was, but experience had taught him that irate females didn't take well to anything other than complete agreement. And now ... now he was alone with the still pissed-off queen, and the stupid male that had started this mess. "If you'll excuse me," Sakelo said, backing away. "I have to go hunt something, or ... something. Excuse me." With that vague excuse, the male turned and trotted briskly away. Let them sort out their mess on their own. If Zalika wasn't there to impress, he wasn't going to get in their way. Bahari Bahari waved a paw impatiently at the new male, shooing him away. She would find him later and interview him, make sure that his intentions were honorable, but he seemed like an agreeable hyena. If he hadn't taken advantage of a sleeping Zalika in her den, he didn't seem like much of a threat. "You should have brought him to Dikeledi or I," she said sternly. "If I'm going to have more pups, I don't want to think that strange males might be let in to wander as they will!" That seemed like a good way to threaten Bekeli ... by threatening to take away his chance to make more pups with her.
