BASICS
  • Name: Robin Attewood
  • Nickname: Rob Anybody (his "stage" name), or just Rob
  • Gender: Male
  • Age and Birth Date: 23, 14 April 1993
  • Occupation: punk musician and aspiring brewer

APPEARANCE
5'9", built wiry and whippy, all lean ripcord muscle and coiled energy. His face is sharp and impish, almost fey-looking, with enormous uptilted brown eyes and a ring piercing in the left side of his lower lip. His dark honey-blond hair is worn in wild dreadlocks that hang to the middle of his back, sometimes pulled back into a messy ponytail. A transplanted Londoner, he's got a British pale complexion that's just suntouched enough to look slightly tawny, with just the tiniest bit of facial scruff. Sometimes he peels off his t-shirt and paints Pictish symbols in blue on his bare arms and chest when he's performing. Dresses like a refugee from the Ramones, favors skinny jeans and tanks and ugly t-shirts and leather biker jackets and the color black.

PERSONALITY
Hard-living, hard-working, and hard-drinking, Robin really is a secret good guy, almost a Boy Scout at heart. He's a lover AND a fighter, high-energy and manic. "On" all the time, he'll dance on the tables and flirt with whoever catches his eye and get into brawls and/or deep philosophical discussions on the state of the world all in the same evening, and all for fun. His passions run deep; outspoken and blunt, he will LET YOU KNOW AT FULL VOLUME PRECISELY HOW HE FEELS, DAMMIT. And it's okay if you hold a different opinion, it really is! Just don't be an arse about it and you'll get along just fine with him.

A total control freak, Rob has a deep distrust of people trying to take advantage of him. In true punk fashion, he wears his defiance and fierce independence on his sleeve. He's a quarrelsome, belligerent little s**t (regardless of whether he's drunk or sober) who would rather throw a punch than argue, though he's pretty good at that too. In fact, it's often his mouth that gets him into trouble that he has to fight his way out of. He's incredibly impatient with people and situations, with poor impulse control on top of it. He can act like Veruca Salt at his worst, demanding that he be given what he wants NOW, especially if he worked hard to earn it.

Robin is Chosen of Dionysus, because he considers himself a performer rather than a musician. His punk-ness is as much performance art/street theatre as anything, putting on the punk guise like an actor's costume when he assumes the identity Rob Anybody. It's the total package, not just the music, that he's trying to sell to you -- the image, the attitude, the concept of punk. This despite the fact that what he's playing is punked-up versions of traditional British/Celtic folk music.

He also loves his wine, women, and song and is the biggest beer snob on the planet.

~~~~~
The Nag's Head was in rare form this evening, packed full of people and rowdy conversation, the alcohol flowing like, well, wine. And Rob was in the thick of it, which was precisely where he liked to be. He held court at his preferred spot, at the corner of the bar, a veritable barricade of empty beer glasses in front of him. This was his favorite bar in the entire city -- it was more a pub, really, almost a proper English pub, and that was why he liked it. It filled a hole in his soul, the hole that had been carved out when his family had relocated from London for work. Everything he'd done since arriving in the States had become an act to mask the ache in his heart for his home. The only time he felt honest was when he was well lubricated with booze and playing the punk, like he was now.
Downing the last of his beer, he slammed the empty glass on the bar and grinned at the bartender, a really cute bird he'd been flirting with for ages. He didn't care that he was getting nowhere with her, he was only doing it for sport anyway. "Oi! Another round, love!" The bartender, hearing him over the din of the crowded bar, grinned back and nodded to indicate she'd be with him in a minute. Pushing a couple of stray blond dreadlocks off his face, Rob turned to listen to the discussion going on next to him, barely audible over the raucous barflies filling the rest of the place. He didn't know what they were talking about, but it didn't matter to him. He would find his own tuppence to add.
He was just about to barge in on the conversation when a pint glass appeared in front of him, filled with a dark brew. "Cheers, love," he said reflexively as he took the glass.
"Cheers yourself, love," a voice that wasn't the bartender's replied. In fact, the voice was clearly male. When did they hire another bartender? And a smartarse to boot? Looking up, he found himself staring into a youthful yet bearded face. "You're just my type, too," the man added, dark eyes twinkling.
"Now hang on a minute…" The room started swimming and Rob steadied himself against the bar. He didn't usually feel the effects of beer like this. He took a sip from the glass the man had handed him; the liquor had a heady aroma and a rich, fruity undertone he'd never experienced in a beer before. Almost like a lambic, but much more intense, much stronger. It was amazing.
Looking up again, he found the young man's face close to his, close enough to smell wine on his breath as he spoke. "I am Dionysus, and I have Chosen you, Robin. No, not for anything like that, that's Aphrodite's area. I have my own blessing to offer you. If you accept, it will change you forever. And couldn't you do with a little change?" The young man chuckled, and Rob realized there were leaves in the guy's long dark hair, like a wreath. "Sometime in the next week, someone will be by to recruit you. And you'll say yes, won't you? It will mean magic and so much more in your life." Raising his drinking cup, he touched Rob's glass. "Cheers."
Rob, wide-eyed, nodded. He didn't know what else to do, so he tipped the glass and drank deeply. When he set the now-empty glass on the bar, the young man was gone. "Cheers, mate," he said under his breath.
  • Rob is not a child of the streets, that's for sure. He was born and raised in Kensington, one of London's more posh districts. Little Robin didn't quite grow up with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth, but he did have a nanny and attended a private boys' school, which might account for some of his rebelliousness. He was a complete hellraiser both in school and out of it, doing it largely because he could. Yeah, he was a bit of a spoiled brat.
  • Despite being a diehard punk, Rob has no tattoos and is unlikely to get any because he is violently terrified of needles and has been since he was a child. (Nevermind that a tattoo rig doesn't even resemble a hypodermic needle.) He found this out the hard way when, thinking he was over the fear, he got his lip pierced and punched the piercer unconscious.
  • Rob has been cultivating his dreads since age 14, and "cultivating" is the right term -- his hair is white boy wavy-curly, so dreads don't exactly come easily, although his have matured and tightened nicely. He gets the roots re-knotted about once a month so they don't become a single solid mat.
  • Believe it or not, Rob can actually sing, and sing quite well. While he more or less screams when he's performing as Rob Anybody, he tones it down considerably for busking and belts out acoustic punk songs and trad favorites in a pitch-perfect, slightly raspy dark tenor.
  • Thanks to his mum the music professor, Rob plays guitar, bass, drums, and violin, along with a few other instruments. The exception is piano; there are just too many keys and he doesn't have the patience to pick out anything more difficult than "Chopsticks". Wait til he discovers bagpipes.
  • Rob actually owns a house! It's a small up-and-down duplex Victorian in San Francisco's Inner Sunset District, in which he has set up a personal recording studio and has planted the BEST secret garden in the tiny narrow back yard with the help of his mum. (His parents live in the upper half of the duplex.)
  • As noted, Rob is a HUGE beer snob. He even subscribes to Beer Connoisseur and Beer Advocate magazines, reading them cover to cover. While he'll drink whatever you put in his hand, he does have very specific preferences and can analyze a brew like an expert with a few sips. He has toyed with the idea of trying to brew his own beer, just to see if he can produce something that meets his exacting standards.
Parents: Robin is the only child of Michael Attewood, a doctor, and Charlotte Jones-Huxley, a music professor and piano tutor. His mother was by far the bigger influence in his life, teaching him whatever musical thing he wanted to learn and actually encouraging his forays into punk music. This was cut short when his father accepted a job at San Francisco General Hospital and the family moved to America and the Bay Area shortly after Rob turned 19. The relocation only fueled Rob's general attitude problems, turning him into an even angrier young punk.
Sidney James: Rob's childhood best friend, a precocious girl who was the daughter of one of his mother's close friends as well as a piano student. They were inseparable until Sidney's parents were killed in a car accident when Sid was age seven and she was sent to live with relatives in America. They kept in touch over the years, but gradually communication stopped. Rob hasn't heard from Sidney in about a decade.
