He'd gone home to rescue his bike from overzealous roommates -- to collect his bike and his computer, to shove more clothing into his bag to bring back -- and had come back with all that and more.
Specifically, he'd come back with pizza.
Four pies. Proper. Leathery. Chewy. Dripping with cheese. Still mostly warm -- but that hardly mattered. This was the kind of pizza that kept as it cooled. New York style, the only style that counted.
It was too much for him to eat by himself, probably, and so Asher set it up in the common room of the Hermes dorm and dropped himself down onto a couch with a handful of pingpong balls. Idly, he tossed them into a plastic cup on a table, legs sprawled out and posture easy.
Eventually, the smell would carry up through the dorm, and people could come steal a slice. And a beer -- if they didn't mind cheap beer.

And if not from the firm itself, than folks passing by to other parts of the property. The scent of pizza carried, and when a certain blonde caught a whiff on his way to the hearth for something to eat, he altered his route instead to the Hermes dorm.
Spotting Asher, he snagged one of the ping pong balls out of the air. "Ah, you're back." As if the smell of the pizza hadn't been enough of a clue, but he was going for nonchalance. Probably not succeeding. He tossed the ball back at the smaller man so he could help himself to a large slice of pizza, as well as a beer.
"How'd it go?"

He hadn't even registered that there was something different in the air when his mouth began to water. Zan was lying on his bed, making plans for his own trip home and nodding off, when he realized what he smelled and made a beeline for the common room. He didn't say a word once he'd gotten there, nearly bowling over Hot Guy Number Eighteen as he picked up a slice of his own, folded it lengthwise, and jammed half of it into his mouth. Delicious.
He crossed the room at a lazy stroll, flopping onto a chair and somehow managing to sigh without choking as he chewed. Then, he watched. Even though there were only two people in the room, there was still plenty to see.

The smell of authentic--she'd wager a theft from the Smithsonian on it--New York pizza reached her nose and she'd promptly given up on the idea of a shower just now. There wasn't a strong desire to re-dress and though she wasn't opposed to going down dressed in nothing but her bra and panties... She pulled a tank top with an uneven hem out. The crochet front was a nice touch as she let it fall over her body. Bonus, there'd be no need to undo a button or belt if she indulged.
The common room was full of men as Marisol made her way in, picking up a slice before flopping into a chair. She recognized Zan but she didn't think she'd met the other two yet. She bit into the pizza, studying the three.
"Zan," she greeted with a smile. "I don't think I've met either of you yet," she added to the others. "I'm Marisol."
"Asher." To Marisol, and he raised his beer in vague greeting to both her and Zan before settling back to look Ed over. No more wincing or wriggling, anyway; Asher could draw in a deep breath without that edge of a grimace. He turned the ball over in his hand and he, at least, wasn't eating a slice just now.
He maybe already had two.
"I don't know how I managed to find my way around without someone there to hold my hand and make puppy eyes at me. Sit down, you're too tall." And with that, absently, he tossed the ping pong ball at Zan, instead, aiming squarely for the side of his head.

"Looks like you managed just fine." Pain in the a**. He bit into his slice savoring the gooey cheese and thin crust, then offered a smile to both the unknown Hermes, and the one that was introducing herself.
"Hi, Edward, Ares.". Heed have extend a hand, but both were full. Instead he shot Asher a look as he was ordered to sit. "What's wrong, don't like being short?" Stepping closer, he loomed, for just a moment, a smug, challenging sort of smile directed down at the dark haired man. Then he collapsed down onto the couch beside him.

"Lovely, life saving Marisol," Zan replied. "I'm glad you made it back in one piece. You too, Edward," he added, nodding as he addressed the man he had never met. "And you, Ash—"
He turned just in time to catch the ball right above his left eye. It bounced off his brow with the faintest of plastic plinks and flew high, hopping across the floor as he finished facing his roommate. Zan lowered his head to take another comically theatrical bite, all the while directing a look at Asher that went from 'revenge is me cutting all your pants into chaps' to 'okay, fine, that was pretty funny' to 'who's this' in the time it took to swallow.
Zan snorted. "Thank you for the food, if nothing else." To Ed he added, "Zan. Nice to meet you."

Jan was an incredibly picky eater and in general hardly ate let alone eating what was essentially junk food. But he valued a good social opportunity when he saw one, as such, when the smell of pizza reached him, he stood up and made his way out of his dorm where he had been reading to the common room.
There were already quite a few people around, a few he recognised even, but still he unobtrusively sat off to one side, still somewhat reticent about barging into conversations. One on one was fine, he could control perception just a little in that arrangement, but in groups it was more intimidating.
He gave the others a fleeting nod of greeting regardless.
Ed's towering got a deliberate lack of attention -- Asher's eyes pointedly locked on Zan, instead of focusing on the giant of a man who stood in front of him. Still, only when he flopped down did Asher's shoulder relax by inches, so maybe it did make him at least a little bit tense. Old experiences. A lot of assholes.
"Hey, it could have been a beer instead of a ping pong ball." And then he paused, blinking at Zan. "Do you want a beer? There's like 8 of them...."
Asher's eyes swept around the room. He decided that 8, probably, was how many this group would drink. If more people showed up, his hospitality would hit its limits. Still, he flicked a little wave at Jan.

She lifted a free hand, offering a wave, to acknowledge Ed. He didn't come off like much of a prize, looming over Asher like a bully. Maybe she should've brought her whip down...
"I'm a little surprised you did," she teased Zan after swallowing another bite of pizza. "No, I'm glad to see you made it back safe. Although a sparring session might be in order." Neither of them have performed the best in that fight but he'd fared worse than she had.

Pale eyes lingered on Asher long enough to note the tension leaving his shoulder, and returned his attention back to the room at large. Most of the people that had gathered so far were ones Ed hadn't met yet, or didn't recall meeting. He thought, pethaps, he might have seen one or two of them in the first couple days, at the fire or during the tour, but with no names to attach to them he just couldn't recall. Ah well, now was a perfect time to remedy that.
"Likewise," he'd answer Zan, offering an easy smile. Didn't matter that he didn't know him, it was still good to see that more of the chosen had made it back alright. "And nice to meet you."
Jan he'd only met once, but he offered him a smile on greeting, saluting the older man with his beer before tucking it back between knees and giving the majority of his attention to the floppy piece of pizza. Control was regained by folding it through the middle.
He was tempted to ask Asher how his wound was healing, but figured it could wait for when they weren't sitting in a room full of people. Wouldn't want to be more mother-henning than the other man already thought he was.

Pizza was one of those aromas that carried and was instantly recognizable, as well as sure to trigger hunger pangs in anyone who smelled it. Such was the case with Rob. Wandering back to the Dionysus dorm from the Studios, where he'd been setting up space for brewing equipment he had on order back in San Francisco, he caught the unmistakable whiff of pizza as he approached the Hermes dorm. Smelled like a lot of pizza, too. Surely they needed some help eating it. His stomach rumbled in agreement, reminding him he hadn't eaten in awhile. Perfect opportunity.
He veered left instead of right and headed toward the Hermes dorm. Entering through the main door, he found himself in the common room, where there were already a number of people scattered amongst the furniture, particularly the short dark-haired fellow holding court on the couch, and four big pizza boxes. He recognized some faces, but didn't have names to put to them. Oh well, he would soon enough.
With a grin he announced himself. "You lot wouldn't mind one of us Dionysus scum partaking in your pizza, would you? I can pay my way in wine."

People simply helping themselves to food and drink was surprising to Jan, used to a much more polite and reserved level of company. It wasn't that he was snobby (though he often was) it was just that older ladies with a lot of reservations were easily upset when you grabbed food before saying grace properly.
At least there was no shortage of aesthetically pleasing people in the room and sometimes he had to wondered if they were recruited on more than just their godly merits.
"Giving away beer?" he asked Asher carefully. "Who are your friends?"

"I do," he said to Asher, rocking to his feet and approaching said beer, then taking a can for himself. "I just wanted pizza more." And he was a terrible lightweight, but one or two surely wouldn't hurt anyone. One or two glasses of wine, however...
Zan beamed at Rob as he abandoned his previous seat and took one nearer to the others. "Welcome, Dionysus Scum. Zan," he gestured at himself. "Asher, Edward, Marisol, and our own very mysterious gentleman," he continued, kind of answering that gentleman's question by accident with his impromptu role call. He nodded at Jan in partial apology for putting him in the spotlight, then leaned in closer to Marisol, whom he was now seated next to.
"I would love to spar with you, now that we're all safe and sound. It would teach me to get creative with my dagger."
"Bring alcohol." It got a fingergun at Rob, easy, even if his expression was still serious.. "Then we can talk."
And then, as if the newcomer was dismissed and forgotten [and free to take a slice if he had the balls] Asher tipped his head to look at Zan. "Mysterious guy is...uh."
All at once, he realized he didn't know the name. His eyes slid back onto Jan. "I don't actually know. What is your name?"
