"More funny than shitty, honestly," Mal grinned at Eden, and shrugged a little. "I'm not sure what they were figuring would happen." But whatever it was, Mal still found it funny. "I'd share sordid details, but you're a kid, still. Maybe next year."

Rob sat on his hip on a blanket, one hand propping himself up, the other holding a bottle of beer. He'd already had several and was feeling a bit merry, so when he heard about the game going on he couldn't resist.
"Right, I'll bite," he smirked at Matilda, setting the beer down in front of him and raising his hand. "The assassin bit? I don't buy that. As for me... Rob Attewood, Chosen of this bloke." He tapped one of the buttons on his leather biker jacket. "Dionysus. So, two truths and a lie."
"I'm from London, England. Kensington, actually." Plausible, given his very British accent.
"I own me own house. Well, half a house." A punk like him owning a house? Didn't seem very likely, but one never knew.
"I can play piano as well as guitar, drums, bass." Again, not a very punk thing, but again, one never knew.
He picked up his beer. "Cheers, you lot," he grinned, taking a deep swig.

Mathilda grinned at Asher.
"Sure, Cupcake. Let's see how long at that lasts."
Laughing, she turned to Rob.
"Ooh, got me! Though I am a born and bred assassin, I am on my mother's side. Get my killin' skills and temper from her. Why do you think I'm a chosen of Ares? However, my father is a through and through baker. Not a mean bone in his body. And he's full German. A very impressive man, really."
Relaxing into the pillows, Mathilda went silent, choosing to listen to the others for a while.

Asher actually laughed at her: not the nice, friendly kind, but the one that usually came with an eye roll. "You're fill of it. There are no assassins in the era we live. Hired killers, maybe, but no one runs around on rooftops and slinks through the shadows. That's some video game level bullshit."
Mathilda's eyebrow twitched. Now is not the time to get mad. Her hand flexed on her thigh.
"And the definition of assassin, I believe is: 'a murderer, especially one who kills a politically prominent person for fanatical or monetary reasons'. Modern times have simply changed the name, I prefer tradition. And 'shadows'? Seriously? Honey, I walk straight up to their face and by the time the realize somethings up, I'm gone."
She made a 'duh' face at the kid.
"And besides, roofs are dirty and hard to work with in heels."

"Cute."

"You're the one who tried to make it sound all fancy and badass, and not like dirty work." He waved her off, idly. His eyes were flashing a bit, though: Asher wasn't exactly low temper, himself.
"It's not dirty work though. I look perfect when I walk in and when I walk out. I only get dirty in my kitchen."
Mathilda could see the boys temper rise. This place could be fun.

Isaiah had heard about the tour around campus, but that had sounded boring and he'd done most of his own exploring by now. He was a social being, after all, and rather than wasting his time listening to some monotoned guide list off the historical significance of each and every rock... well, he'd much rather do some mingling.
He approached the circle easily, a friendly smile on his face as he looked around at the other Chosen that had gathered to play. He was only a little bit late, but it seemed the group had already fallen into an easy back-and-forth banter. He did his best to break into the conversation without completely uprooting it.
"I'd like to see you get dirty." He said, gazing confidently at the woman that had been speaking about ... whatever dirty work it was she did. He addressed the rest of the group then. "Isaiah Huntinghouse." He said. "Chosen of Poseidon." If his very beach-y appearance hadn't already made that clear.
"I'm a professional surfer.
I've been bit by a shark...
and, let's seeee, I know three different languages. English included"
When he was done, he grabbed one of the beverages available and drank; waiting to see which of his statements the others would decide was a lie.

Mathilda turned from Asher, facing the newcomer. Her face twisted.
"Honey, if by dirty you mean blood stains then come a little closer." Her grin turned manic.
"And what are you, 18? 19? Little young for me. As for being a Poseidon chosen, interesting."

Isaiah smirked at the woman. She was... interesting, at least. There was a look in her eye that told stories. Stories of s**t he'd never had anything to do with.
"Maybe some blood, maybe some bruises. I'm full of surprises." He chuckled. "I'm twenty seven, but thanks for the compliment. I wasn't here for your intro... what's your name? I'm gonna take a wild guess and say your god is... Ares?" Muscles, confidence, and talk of bloodshed all definitely screamed Ares. Still, maybe there was something else about her that attracted one of the other deities. Though he doubted it.

"Mathilda, you pronounce the 'th'. And correct, I am a chosen of Ares. I guarantee you make me angry and you end up with more than some bumps and bruises." She smirked and leaned forward.
"It's nice to meet you, Isaiah."

Isaiah put up his hands, palms facing the Ares woman with a friendly smile on his face. "I don't plan on getting anyone angry," he said. "we're all allies now, aren't we? Fighting the good fight."
He dropped his hands, slid a thumb into the loop of his jeans. They were cut-offs, of course. His feet were bare and dirty. He hadn't bothered with a shirt. "So, which of my statements was a lie, Mathilda?" He made sure to pronounce the th, even though it felt weird on his tongue. "Can you guess?" He grinned.
Eden couldn't say if Assassin's existed or not in this era.
Before he came here, he didn't even think Gods existed. Instead he narrowed his eyes at the chosen's. It was starting to be a little more obvious how the gods chose them. He hadn't expected to see signs right away but well...it was hard not to.
"You didn't guess for Rob." Eden pointed a pencil at the 'cheers mate' dude and waited.

Isaiah turned his attention from Mathilda to the small male that had suddenly made his presence within the circle more known.
"You're right." He said, then frowned. "I really don't have a ********' clue, so... I'm just gonna guess?" He looked at Rob and narrowed his eyes, doing his best to take in his entire being. When he realized pretty much nothing about the dude would give away which of his statements were a lie, Isaiah sighed and gave up.
"I dunno, bro. You... uh... can't play the piano? The other ones seem too detailed."

Between rounds of of the game, a newcomer slipped up -- in dark jeans and a teeshirt of some metal band whose name was nothing more than a pile of some thorny-looking angles, impossible to actually read. His deep-set eyes glinted from the light of the hearth, intensely dark and somewhat amused, and he dropped down to sit among the gatherers.
Ewan ran a hand through his dark hair and waited until there was a lull in the conversation to wave and introduce himself, pulling one earbud out of his ear. "Ewan, Zeus."
