Senshi: Super Sailor Pyxis, Senshi of Fireflies

Name: Pavel Khruschev

Nicknames: The Russian 'default' nickname for Pavel is Pasha, but he hasn't been given any nicknames by friends yet. They can give him lots, though!

Age: 14

Birthday: October 29

Sign: Scorpio

Blood Type: B-

Fav. Food: Candies and fruits, star fruits, or anything with exciting flavor. He especially enjoys Fruit-by-the-Foot or the Fruit Rollups with tongue tattoos, because he can give himself little blue ladybug tongue-tats and stare at them in the mirror. And who wouldn't like that?

Hated Food: Anything that still has a head attached or eyes to stare at him, plain bread, crackers. He tried a pickled egg once because it looked nice like an Easter Egg, but that was absolutely not the case, and thus it ended up on this list.

School: Meadowview

Hobbies:
Making Jewelry: Even as a young child, Pasha had a fascination of putting beads and gems together to make a finished whole, be it a bracelet, necklace, earrings, etc. He has an entire drawer full of tacky, pony-bead accessories that he's kept throughout the years; every now and then, he goes through them for nostalgia's sake, occasionally picking out an old favorite to wear again. He prefers the obscenely gaudy to delicate and classy, but almost all jewelry will make him happy.

Playing Dress-up: Though he has never been able to create costumes himself, he loves costume designs, and enjoys dressing up just for amusement. He is somewhat secretive about it (boys aren't supposed to like dress-up and all), but can spend hours trying out different roles in front of a mirror.

Stargazing: Many people love to look at the stars, but Pasha makes a nightly habit of it. He can point out all of the constellations, watches every lunar eclipse and meteor shower, and can name all of the stars and components of the constellations he can see through a telescope.

Gemstone: Opal

Virtues:
Accepting: No matter what your vices are, Pasha will likely be happy to be your friend, as long as you aren't excessively mean to him. He is willing to ignore dark pasts and dirty secrets, as long as his almost annoying naivety and immaturity can be overlooked in turn.

Loyal: If Pasha considers you a friend, he will be endlessly loyal to you whether you want him to be or not. This includes carrying books to class, random gifts of (possibly terrible) jewelry, and offers to help with homework (despite his academic mediocrity).

Enthusiastic: With his childlike curiosity also comes overwhelming enthusiasm for even the most mundane things in life. This is especially true for anything that might be new to him, as he loves to try out everything he can.

Flaws:
Naïve: Pasha is one of those people who thinks that saying 'gullible' slowly enough will make it sound like 'ice cream'. His excitement for life will occasionally lead him in the wrong direction if told to do something dangerous, or if a morbid curiosity reaches its peak.

Absentminded: A daydreamer at heart, he has been scolded in class one too many times for staring out the window, a lighthearted smile on his face. He has to be snapped back to reality regularly, unless he is already working on something creatively.

Frail: Physical Education and sports have never been Pasha’s strong point. His brute strength is next to nonexistent, and he would certainly hold no ground in a fistfight. However, this extends only to his physical aspects - he can bounce back from almost anything mentally injuring.

Physical Description:

Hair: He likes it to be pretty ridiculous; anything in various shades of blues, purples, and reds especially. (see above refs)

Eyes: Blue

Face: Boyish, light freckles.

Body: Slender, not at all athletic.

Fashion: He sticks to a very eclectic style, throwing on interesting things that may not necessarily match anything else he’s wearing. If it’s colorful or pretty, he likes it. Most of his jewelry consists of pieces he has made, but he loves gifts, and will wear anything he’s given almost constantly.

Challenge: Let me direct you to your defeat!

Attack #1: Firefly Flash: A focused swarm of firefly lights that temporarily blinds/stuns the target.

Attack #2: Disorienting Swarm: A swarm of firefly lights that causes the target to be confused into attacking himself or a teammate.

Past:

User Image
Mom: Pasha is closer to his mother than he is his father - they're still a tiny bit distant, but he enjoys the time that they do have together. She stays home to tend to housework, but makes fine jewelry in her spare time. His is certainly nothing of her caliber.

User Image
Dad: Business trips and dinners with clients keep his father too busy to devote much time to family. They occasionally video-chat when everyone is home, but hasn't seen Pasha since he started attending Meadowview.

User Image
BFF Phineas: Phineas and Pasha have been friends since grade school. He struggles with a terrible stutter, so Pasha served as his voice for a good portion of his life. They spent almost every day together until Pasha transferred to Meadowview, be it going on grand adventures or just sitting around and reading books together.
They still keep in touch via letters, instant messaging, and myspace updates, but Pasha misses him terribly.

Abel: Pyxis' guardian kitty. He loves him very much. <3
Audrey: Pasha is her sunshine, her only sunshine, he makes her happyyyyyyyy, though she wears greyyyyyyyyyyy. (<- courtesy of Nessy) Audrey is Pasha's absolute BFF, and he loves spending time with her.
Tallulah: She talked to him and invited him to the Model United Nations, how awesome is that?! Since then, their friendship has only grown stronger. He considers her a true friend.
Trinket: A kitty adopted from Tallulah. He's a small brown tabby with white patches under his chin and on his chest, who loves chasing bugs and playing with all of Pasha's jewelry. Pasha is forever grateful to Tallulah for him.

Aurora: She seems really nice!

Pyxis is named with the Latin word for "box". Pyxis was originally Pyxis Nautica, the Nautical Box, or Mariner's Compass, called la Boussole by the French, Kompass by the Germans. A "pyx" was receptacle for coins.

As a section of the great ship Argo Navis, the mythology of Pyxis is the legend of the great sea and the adventures of Jason and the Argonauts. The great galley was built under the orders of the goddess Athene, where she then fitted a beam into the prow from the oracle of Zeus. On board was a crew of Greek heroes, including such notable mythological figures such as Hercules, Castor and Pollux. Of course, their journeys were legendary, and after having acquired the golden fleece they dedicated the ship to the sea god Poseidon, who immortalized it in the stars and the first of the ocean-going vessels. Due to it's enormous size, early cartographers often had difficulty portraying it on star charts and its magical prow had disappeared. The mariner's compass, the constellation of Pyxis, was also once considered a part of Argo Navis, too… But has also been divided away with time. Small wonder since the magnetic compass was virtually unknown to the ancient Greeks! However, we cannot default Lacaille for his love of scientific instruments and his wish to immortalize them in the stars. Where charts did not depict the mast, Lacaille figured it was anchored in a reef and called his new constellation "la Boussole" to represent a marine compass.

There is no mythology associated with the figure. It contains stars only of fourth magnitude and dimmer.

Solos/etc:
(solos hopefully in chronological order, but will note otherwise! <3)

Though he had been full to the brim with apprehension about moving to Destiny City and transferring to a new school with new people, Pasha was absolutely thrilled with the whole thing by now. He had already made two fantastic new friends, one of whom was his new best friend forever. All of his worries about not meeting new people and feeling like an outcast in this new big city were far gone. Everything kept getting better and better, and his glass of optimism was so perpetually full that he never once considered it might all come crashing down. There was a reason that life was metaphorically likened to things like roller coasters and pendulums, and cheery fifteen-year-olds were certainly not immune.

There was no time to worry anyway; he was on a mission. Since eighth grade, it had been a weekly ritual for him to write a myspace blog about the happenings and feelings and all sorts of things in his life over the span of seven days - he'd been so busy making new friends and discovering all sorts of exciting shops and restaurants here that he'd forgotten to even check his account. This entry would just have to be especially good, he decided.

He logged on to find no new messages, which seemed a little odd. He and his best friend from his old town usually spoke every day, but they stopped abruptly around the same time Pasha had ceased his relentless once-every-hour status updates. Unsurprisingly, this was approximately when the overzealous boy discovered Twitter and began conversing in just under 140 characters with all of his new friends and acquaintances. Instead of worrying, he resolved to send a message later, which should fix everything. He would even add a cute lolcat picture, so it would definitely fix everything. After all, he still needed his first best friend, despite meeting Audrey. Best friendships didn't just die.

A quick click on "My Blog" brought up a blinding smattering of rainbow stars with a background of bright blue starbursts: nothing that anyone in their right mind would ever subject people to. Except, of course, for Pasha, who thought it was positively gorgeous and full of happy.

After hitting "play" on his shiny blue iPod nano, he got to work.

User Image

He stared at the blinking cursor at the end of his last sentence, chewing his lip in thought. All of that incoherent babble, and he wasn't sure how to wrap all of it up. Shrugging, he added what he was listening to and changed his Current Mood to happy, then submitted the post, deciding just to call it good.

User Image

His long series of events seemed so tiny when he stared at the white text against the rainbow star background, but it felt so significant in his heart. He wasn't sure that his excellent friendship with Audrey and his bond with Tallulah really could be summed up in so many words, but he supposed it was better than nothing. The world had to know how fantastic his new life was, and if it came in the form of a poorly-written blog post on a terrible networking site, so be it.

Smiling widely, he picked up his phone to place a very important before-bed call to Audrey, fending off his mass of adorable cell phone charms just long enough to punch in her speed dial number. Even though she was off at the fancy new school, she was going to need to know about everything he'd done, and how lonely it was here without their frequent outings and sleepovers. He flopped backward onto his kitten-and-puppy comforter, gave his real kitty a quick pat on the head, and listened to the ringing as he waited for the familiar voice.

This was very, very bad. And possibly the only occasion in his life that Pasha understood as being bad, without anyone having told him so.

He could find no other word, however, to label 'being chased by bloodthirsty townspeople calling me a terrorist'. The edges of the thick ribbon tied on his back were beginning to sting as they hit the backs of his legs over and over, rhythmically reminding him to go faster. He had no idea what would happen if they caught him, but he imagined it would be nothing good. "Terrorist" wasn't exactly the most friendly of terms, after all. Though he knew he was doing something good (wasn't he?), they were obviously very confused. And not really willing to listen.

It was his first patrol by himself, and he'd known something would go wrong. The nagging feeling in his stomach just wouldn't let him think otherwise. With his nerves as they were, it didn't take long for him to overreact to something stupid. It was just a big dog, and it was posing no threat to anyone at all, but the hasty transformation happened anyway.

And that's when the small group of people, all out for a leisurely walk with said dog, pointed at him and had begun to scream.

"s**t, it's one of the terrorists from the news! Get your phone, where's your phone?!" A man who seemed twice his size was advancing on him, and Sailor Pyxis' eyes were quickly reaching owl-wide status again.

"No, I...! No, I'm sorry, your doggy just sca-"

Clearly, these were not people who negotiated with terrorists. The woman had fallen back, clutching desperately on the now barking dog's collar with one hand, the other clenched until her knuckles whitened. The other two, both men, were still coming towards him. One was dialing a number on his cell phone. Pyxis didn't know who he would be calling, and was far too afraid to stop and think about it.

"P..Pyxis Firefly Flash!" he cried, thinking impulsively yet again. Hundreds upon hundreds of shimmering fireflies materialized around him, swirling with a humming that would make anyone's skin crawl. As they drew nearer to the two approaching strangers, their light grew in intensity until almost the entire street around them was illuminated. They immediately threw their arms over their faces and began to shout obscenities.

And that was when he ran.

His chest and throat hurt almost unbearably by the time he reached his own special sanctuary - the wooden playset nestled cheerfully in the heart of the park. The people were no longer pursuing him, but he could hear the faint sound of sirens in the distance, which was decidedly not good. The last thing he needed was to be arrested for terrorism. His mom would be so disappointed, and he was pretty sure his dad might disown him.

Phineas might think it was neat, though.

Pushing aside the desire to get his old best friend to speak to him again, he sunk to the ground, using the sturdy playset to support him. His shaking fingers were just barely able to hold onto his henshin pen as he powered down, heart still racing. Adrenaline waning, his whole body had begun to ache, and the overwhelming feeling of dread was steadily returning. He would inevitably have to tell Abel about this, and he hated to disappoint his guardian cat. He hated to disappoint anyone, really, which was why this Senshi business was especially hard.

As anyone who is suddenly gifted a purpose in life would likely be, he was certainly glad that the opportunity was given to him. He was excited to find out that he really was special. But being a Senshi was hard work, and frail little Pasha wasn't sure that he was cut out for such a thing. The most physical activity he'd gotten before now - evidenced by the near searing pain coursing through his calves - was walking to and from the jewelry store in town. And his attack wasn't really all that offensive; a good thing, in this case, but nothing comforting when he thought of fighting anything that could really hurt him.

He frowned, an expression rarely used on the teenager, and considered asking Abel to come on patrols with him. Maybe kitty magic would help. Maybe he'd be able to scare away monsters and rabid townspeople.

Anything would be better than this.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 24, 2010 7:31 pm

Nobody ever told Sailor Pyxis about the finer points of retreating, but it seemed to be the only tactic he'd practiced repeatedly. Though he loved his fireflies, and was thankful that he had a way to defend himself at all, he still felt more comfortable running and hiding in places where nobody could find him and hurt him. Inevitably, without Europa there to help him through battles, he'd end up running towards home with regrets and tears and fear for what Abel might say.

This one, however, was the worst. Before now, he'd only fought youma or cautiously patrolled or otherwise avoided any Negaverse confrontation. But tonight's patrol brought him all sorts of terrible: he'd broken a promise, and subsequently discovered that someone he'd wanted to be friends with was the enemy. Prior to tonight, when Pasha thought of the Negaverse, he thought of big, scary people who looked mean and were mean and did nothing but beat people up, very similar to the bullies who made fun of him in middle school. Serandite didn't look mean or particularly scary and didn't really beat him up.

He could barely find his house through the tears. More than one person stared at him as he ran, wondering if the poor little girl in the bright yellow skirt had just been dumped. Pasha was heartbroken enough to feel as if he had. Serandite was a potential friend in his mind before tonight. That meant anyone who was his friend (or potentially so) could be on the opposite team, and he might not even know it.

And he was supposed to really hurt them.

Pushing open his window, he stared through the darkness, hoping to see the gleaming eyes of a grumpy black cat. "Abel?" he called through tears. "I...gotta ask you somethin', Abel." Surely just asking the cat to take the powers away would prevent him from having to hurt anybody he cared about. That was the last thing he wanted to do, whether or not it would keep Destiny City from falling into the hands of evil. He could be selfish this once, he thought.

When the cat didn't respond, he powered down and slowly changed into his pajamas, forcing himself to keep moving and not curl into a defeated ball. The pajamas were very warm, covered in stars and hearts and rainbows, but they didn't feel comfortable and happy at all. Everything felt wrong. His whole purpose was wrong. He wasn't sure that he could even achieve being the bright, perky Pasha that everyone knew if he had to carry this sort of burden around. How did other Senshi do this?

Finding solace in his comfortable bed, he curled up around his kitten, Trinket, burying his face into soft striped fur. Luckily, Trinket didn't seem to mind that his fur was being coated with tears. He obliviously purred in response.

"I don't think I can do this anymore, Trinket," he mumbled, words lost in the midst of the content rumble. "I never thought about hurting real people. I never really imagined them as real people! How could real people be as bad as everyone says the bad guys are? And you know what's even worse? I think...I think the bad guys could be like. Anyone. I know Tallulah's on our side but...but what about everyone else? What about-"

No. He wasn't even going to think about Audrey being part of the Negaverse, because that was just impossible. Few people were as nice to him as Audrey was. Few people loved him as much as Audrey did. Maybe Serandite had only seemed to be a good person as a trick, and she was just really, really terrible otherwise. That had to be it.

Anything to avoid the thought that he and Audrey might have to fight one day. Thinking that one of them might not come out of the battle alive was unbearable.

"Not that it matters anyway," he told Trinket, followed by a yawn-hiccup. "Gonna tell Abel I quit. Abel will fix it. He's gotta."

Beep.

Beep.

Pasha's eyelids slowly fluttered open, quickly closing again as they met bright lights. This was particularly disconcerting because he didn't remember ending up anywhere that was especially blinding...but he didn't remember much of anything at all. Groggily, he tried to wade through all of the noise and lethargy - what was that awful beeping? - in an attempt to make sense of it all. He knew Abel had sent him out on patrol again. He knew that the entire patrol had been uneventful, with not even a youma in sight. But he didn't remember ever making it home. Why did his chest hurt so badly?

The strong scent of chemicals and air freshener hit him all at once, jolting him awake. This he could remember. This smell meant hospital. The beeping suddenly made sense as its rhythm picked up in tandem to his racing heart. Not good, not good.

Beepbeepbeep.

The small boy say up in bed, disgusted by the tug of the tubes that were stuck in his arms, secured by tape that would probably hurt way more than a rainbow band-aid when they eventually had to pull it off. He could see his Senshi uniform draped, somehow, over one of the chairs next to the window. The edges of it were tattered and burned, bits of ribbon missing from it here and there. But most noticeable was the gaping hole where the ribbon at his chest should be: there was nothing. The faded green diamond pattern on the hospital chair stared back at him instead of the cheerful, bright bow, solemn, serious.

"Pasha! You're awake!" Though her voice was familiar, it still managed to be absolutely frightening in the midst of such a grave situation. He turned to face Audrey, completely unable to muster up a smile that could match hers. There was something different about her that he couldn't quite place his finger on that made him uncomfortable, which was something his best friend shouldn't ever do. She held Abel in her arms; Pasha could see that she was holding him too tightly, and that he was bent all funny. Abel was a cat, but even cats couldn't contort themselves that way. His guardian didn't speak - only stared. This was all wrong.

"Au...Audrey?" Even his own voice scared him. The heart monitor continued to race faster and faster, its beeping becoming akin to a timebomb near its detonation. "What happened?"

"Oh, nothing terrible! You were on your way home because you totally failed at being a Senshi, and someone came and stole your starseed! I think you'll live, though, so it's okay!" Audrey's expression was so darkly cheery that Pasha had to turn away from her, eyes focusing again on his uniform. The hole in the chest matched the story, but-

"Who told you...how do you know all that, Audrey?" Maybe the doctors had been able to infer some of it, but he'd never told Audrey that he was a Senshi. Even if she'd caught a glimpse of his outfit, it would have just meant that he had a connection with terrorists, not that he was anything particularly special. And she had no reason to think that he'd failed, because that was only in his own mind. Abel assured him that he was doing okay. Tallulah said the same.

"You're not doing okay."

"What?" Pasha whipped around, painfully tugging on the tubes once again. Tallulah was now standing next to Audrey and the still-contorted Abel, eyes downcast on him in disapproval, apparently having gained mind-reading capabilities. That was worrisome in its own way - not to say he didn't want to share things with Tallulah, considering what a good friend she was to him, but he didn't want anyone be able to read his mind. "How come? I thought you said...?"

"Well, you hadn't lost your starseed then, had you, Pyxis?" Instead of the response coming from Tallulah alone, the voices of Audrey and Abel mixed with hers to form the biting inquiry.

"I didn't...I...!" His eyes pleaded with them while words failed him. His chest hurt more than it had before, even more uncomfortable with its newly warm, wet feeling, and his stomach was full of knots and anxiety. What had he done? Was he going to lose his friends all because he'd done a terrible job at fulfilling the requirements that destiny had laid out for him?

The door to the hospital room was thrown open as an overly-cheery doctor made his way into the room, smile stretched impossibly wide across his face. He held a clipboard in one hand; not particularly unusual, except for the long sheet of paper that streamed from it and trailed behind him. Pasha couldn't even see the end of the thing - it disappeared in the hallway and showed no signs of stopping even as the doctor stopped at the foot of his bed.

"Sailor Pyxis! It's a miracle that you're alive, son. A real miracle. Now, you'll never have a soul again, your chances of being happy are extremely slim, you may turn into a youma within the next few years, and there is a tiiiiny issue that I'd like to discuss with you. Your friends here-" he gestured to Audrey, Abel, and Tallulah, who leered at him, "tell me that you love eating sweets and candy. Well, that will have to be cut entirely out of your diet. The bionics we gave you to keep you alive won't cope well with any sort of sugar intake - any at all - and I'd hate to see all of my good work go to waste."

Pasha just stared at him, eyes wide.

"Oh, you're too shy to ask about my work! I understand. Here, take a look." He lifted the thin hospital blanket off of the boy, exposing the hospital gown beneath...and the reason Pasha thought that his chest had felt particularly wet and oozing. Every beep of the heart monitor came right before another little bubble of thick, red blood passed through the disfiguring, gnarled scar that streaked across his pale skin. "Just a masterpiece, isn't it?" the doctor asked, eyes and smile widening past their already impossibly wide limits.

"No!" Pasha shrieked, shoving the doctor away. The beeping monitors grew deafeningly louder as he lunged towards his friends, reaching out for them. Shaking fingertips barely brushed Audrey's hair as she stepped away and just missed Tallulah's arm when she sidestepped. Though he hadn't seen Abel move at all, there appeared to be reddening marks on his hand that were telltale of being scratched by a cat. "Help me, please! Please!"

Tallulah smiled cynically at him and turned to leave. In the bag she carried, he could see her carting away the drawings he'd made for the Basterds and his Model U.N. Russian flag (how'd she get that from his desk?). Abel flopped to the bed, suddenly neglected by Audrey, his cravat stained with the same jarring red that stained Pasha's hospital gown. Audrey simply leaned forward to hug him, the red stain from his chest transferring to her shirt as she held him close. "Oh, Pasha," she whispered out of the doctor's earshot. "Why would we help you? We're the ones who did it."

Pasha fell out of bed, earning a yowl from Trinket as he landed on him. He kicked and flailed, trying to get out of the tangled bedsheets, fighting against the nightmare version of his best friend that (thankfully) didn't exist in this reality. His eyelashes felt thick from tears, and his chest ached, unsettlingly reminiscent of the terrible dream. The blue LED of the clock beside him flashed "3:27 A.M.", but he still reached for his phone, flipping it open with a rattle of charms and highlighting "Audrey" in his contacts list. She'd surely fix it, just like she always did. His thumb hit the green call button, and he reached for a Starburst, unwrapping it to pop in his mouth with a definite urgency.

The myspace messages were so few and far between these days that Phineas found himself regularly checking to see if his long-lost best friend had deleted his profile or not. Pasha so rarely signed onto AIM, and when he did, it was as if he wasn't really there at all. And, possibly worse, his message text was default black instead of bold turquoise. Self-conscious and a natural worrier to begin with, he had concocted a plethora of reasons that his friend had chosen to abandon him, varying from new best friends to debilitating Ecstasy addictions to demonic possession.

None made him feel better.

The cheery boy had brightened his days, often literally, and had been his crutch when he had relationship troubles or someone was bullying him again. Without that, he found himself becoming bitter towards the friend that once made him smile. But when he received news that Pasha was one of those who had mysteriously fallen into a deep sleep, he knew he had to go see him. He knew he couldn't turn the cold shoulder any longer, because it might be the last time he truly got to see him. He left immediately, a vase of rainbow-colored carnations in tow, hoping that the visit might change something. The bonds of friendship had to be powerful in reality like they were in books, right? Surely Pasha would wake when he heard his voice. Surely he would be reunited with his best friend, and everything would be okay again.

Just as he was about to walk through the door to his room, a girl with long, blue hair emerged, clearly deep in thought over something. He didn't smile or greet her; she wasn't a nurse, and she wasn't a relative, so she had to be his replacement. She even had blue hair, too - that was just unfair. Not that hers looked better, but...

He considered turning around, giving the flowers to one of the nurses, and leaving, but his jealousy just couldn't overcome his genuine worry for his friend's well-being. So, sighing, he pushed open the slightly ajar door and tried to smile.

"I...hey, P-pasha..." Clearing his throat, he gently set the vase of flowers down among those that he'd already received, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. The other teenager was small, and took up very little room; somehow, he seemed even smaller as the hospital room engulfed him with its sterility and endless beeping. Slowly, he reached out to hold his hand, trying not to puke from the feeling of the IV against his palm. That would just be terrible.

He wanted so badly to tell him about how he hadn't been able to have another party after the last one when Pasha got really sick from the "punch". He wanted to say that Signy was still trying to steal his boyfriend, and that he was actually pretty confident that she didn't have a chance (and wasn't Pasha proud that he had confidence in something?). He wanted to tell him all about the books they'd bought for one another, their dates, the first time they kissed. He wanted to ask if the sleepovers were the same without him around, because he didn't think they were on his end. But when he tried, none of the words could make it past the lump in his throat, and all he could do was cry quietly at his friend's side. What if he never got to tell him these things? Their strained friendship was better than losing his friend forever, that was for sure, and the thought of the latter was devastating.

He sat there in silence for another half hour, clutching desperately to Pasha's hand, before the nurse came to gently tell him that he would need to go home now. The friend-magic had failed him. Pasha still didn't stir, and he didn't feel any better at all. If anything, he missed him even more. He needed his friend back, and it wasn't fair that someone was trying so hard to deny him of that, be it the blue-haired girl or the person who caused the outbreak of near comatose sleep.

As he got up to leave, he slipped a bracelet onto the sleeping boy's wrist. The nurse would probably take it off once he left, but at least he knew he'd get it. Rubbing the tears from his eyes, he managed to get out a mumbled request.

"W-w-wake up soon, p-please? I m...I miss you."

Sailor Pyxis fell from the dreamworld of Tartaros with a burst of flames, and fell into a deeper coma in the real world of Destiny City with a startled gasp. There were no visitors in his room to hear the little noise, and the boy didn't stir - just continued the rhythmic breathing that fell perfectly out of place with the beep-beep-beep of the machines. He showed no signs of waking, and when the kind nurse stopped by to check up on him again, to stroke his hair and wish he'd wake up so she could meet the adorable child, she would notice nothing out of the ordinary (and it was sad, wasn't it, that the poor thing's "ordinary" was now a mysterious comatose state).

But he did dream. While he was no longer stuck in a desert with companions who varied from helpful to frustrated with him, he felt as if he were still stuck in some hellish plane of existence.

He wasn't sure how he'd ended up here after he died, but he was no longer Sailor Pyxis. He was simply Pasha, covered in rainbows and cute smiling faces and hearts and star charms, powerless and tiny and nothing without his friends. He thought that he remembered dying, but couldn't figure out why. He thought that he remembered how badly it hurt and how badly he wanted to live, but it was all so vague and impossible that they couldn't have been real feelings. Other details were entirely nonexistent to him, remaining solely in the world of Tartaros. They bled through subtly, in ways that felt sickeningly familiar but he couldn't place how. His freckles still danced around on his arms while he wasn't looking - instead of directing him, they spelled words like "FAILURE" and "IDIOT" and he swore, once, they made an angry face at him. He didn't know when his freckles had obtained this ability, but he hated it and he wanted it to go away (if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all). The fire that had devoured him seem to have devoured his entire world, if the crunches beneath his feet were any indication.

In this dream he was in his home, but his home had been entirely consumed by fire. Everything was ash, charred past recognition, and he honestly wasn't sure how he was able to touch many of the things he did without them falling apart. He didn't know how the roof didn't cave in on him.

More startling than his home was the fact that he had no idea where his parents were. He couldn't find them, he couldn't find Trinket, and...he couldn't find Abel. They'd either left without a trace or the fire had consumed anything and everything. Had he looked outside, he might have noticed that the entirety of the town he called home was the same way - blackened, skeletal, quiet. Plumes of smoke rose up in the distance, some so far away that he would have questioned if they were real or not. There were no people. The world as he knew it was gone, just like those that he loved dearly, who had once inhabited the home he couldn't bring himself to leave.

Pasha sat in the soot and cried. He hated feeling alone. When left alone he felt like he might as well be nobody at all, because his friends were what made him so happy. He loved interacting and smiling and playing and ice cream and stargazing and yarn-playing and swimming and really, he even loved patrolling when it meant being with someone he cared about.

He closed his eyes and willed himself to stop crying, begging for the nightmare life to be over. Now he'd lost his family, and his kitty cat, and his Abel cat. He'd lost his sense of what was right in the world. He'd lost so many hours of sleep from tossing and turning and waiting up for 11:11 to wish that it would all be easier.

But it never was easier.

Next time he'd just wish to wake up (if wishes were even possible in a world that was over). And maybe he would.
