Shinken looked over at the rebels enraged. They were supposed to be helping the Irikura. How could they have unleashed those things on their own. Let alone what they had done to their own.
"What the Hell?! Your men just killed their own allies! Those were good ******** people, and you ripped them to shreds!" The young Uchiha said his temper flaring and getting the better of him. After a moment he took in a deep breath and exhaled. The mission came first he had to save leoman, and if possible put the princess in power as well, If that wasn't possible he would have to settle for these rebels.
"You're aligned with Leoman?" Shinken asked his voice still containing a tremor of repressed anger. He knew he couldn't win a fight against this many men, so He would have to play his cards more carefully than he did in that little outburst.

Takera, the disguised Sai, the two wolves and the mixed army of rebels, soldiers, and holy soldiers ascended the steps. As they got closer and closer to the peak a scene began to unfold. There were tons of infected rebels going crazy as they staggered towards a distinct two individuals off to the side. Around them laid strange dark humanoid corpses strewn about, one of which looking of grander importance by general appearance. Takera took a step onto the plateau and returned his attention to infected as he took a few more steps out. At that moment the disguised Sai stepped up behind Takera and proceeded to mock him. Takera tilted his head as he glanced back to the man. A grin spread across the man's face and gesturing his scimitars mockingly. Is he toying with me for 'borrowing' the throne..? Takera thought to himself as he arched a brow mildly. He took a deep breath and turned forward. In surprise, the infected rebels before them had calmed down. One after another they began to crumple over into a heap as they died. Takera steadied himself in the wake of the urgency. Motioning with a hand he pointed to the two wolves and two soldiers that still seemed well geared near the front of the line.
Zarathos and Sha padded over passed Sai coming up each to a side of Takera. Before Zarathos could speak Takera placed his hands out one to each of their heads. Immediately the two felt mildly revitalized and knew what it was Takera was doing. "Weave between them and make as much contact as you can, please." Takera requested of the two in a low whisper. His hands glided through their fur from head to tail as they moved out. The two of them weaved and brushed through the infected rebels steadily from one end to the other swiftly and back through.
Takera turned to the two soldiers as the wolves took off. "I would like the two of you to relinquish your cuffs to me and then see to it that the recovering rebels ahead of us are caught up to speed." Takera commanded with a low voice, placing his hand out to receive the cuffs. The two soldiers nodded in agreement handing over their cuffs before addressing the recovering rebels ahead. Takera glanced back to the disguised Sai and his daunting scimitars. "If you would, please follow me..." Takera requested having trouble thinking of how to refer to him in this situation. He turned to find his small army of rebels, volunteers, soldiers, and holy soldiers had caught the attention of the two off to the side. Immediately he became focused upon the boy who was seemingly agitated by his mannerisms. Takera took a few steps forward, still leaving a wedge of distance between them, holding the cuffs off to his side.
The young man burst out over the death of the strange humanoid bodies laid out around them. He spoke in such a way as to accuse Takera and his group of these attrocities. Seemingly the man calmed himself only moments later. The young man asked Takera if he were aligned with Leoman, the prisoner he had seen earlier on during his entry to the city. The anger still buried in his tone of voice. "If you mean to ask if I've come to save Leoman, then you would be partially correct." Takera kept his eyes focused on the boy's shoulders to avoid a late reaction if this person before him decided to get violent. "I am not here for the sake of just one, two, or even one thousand people. I have come for the sake of the great Holy City of Aren in it's entirety. The city has become a-wash with blood and decay. The smell of senseless murder hangs in the air as the people fight each other--even here. This city was once unimaginably great, but there exists not a place on this planet that can escape the woes of human greed. And, so we rallied forth those before this point." Takera motioned his closed hand with it's thumb out to point towards the disguised Sai. "We have also run into these crazed volunteers back in the market. Something happened to them on the way into the city and they became stir crazy. I saved all that I could on my way through." Takera mentioned attempting to put the boy's mind at ease.
If either of them had been giving the rebels any attention they would notice that they were now back on their feet and recovering well as they began communicating with the soldiers and moving on to join the ranks of those positioned at the steps. The two wolves padded up slowly to either side of Sai watching carefully when suddenly Sha's head raised. He stared toward the second individual, who Takera then glanced to himself hoping to also help ease him. Sha pushed up past Takera and moving up to Averus. His nose prodded at the young man's arm revealing the injury. Sha seemed peculiarly interested in the man. Takera jestured the boy forward to him believing he would understand the position he was in and follow suit. As the boy stood before him Takera reached down with his free hand to the injured arm and lightly pulled it into the open. He sighed with mild relief as the wound wasn't serious at all. Takera let the boy's arm go before looking up to the boy's face and with surprise his eyes grew wide. It was Averus standing before him. Averus..? Thank god. We came just in time. Takera thought to himself. He waved the other boy forward as well. "For the time being, I must insist that we restrain you, though it will only be temporary. Your earlier outburst has lead me to believe that we need to see a cooler side of you before we can trust you to be with us on this. I hope that you understand." Takera spoke in a soft, yet commanding tone to the two of them before raising the cuffs up in his one palm. While he had no intention of restraining Averus, he knew that he could not give special treatment without causing suspicion. "If you don't mind, I would also like to know your names, gentlemen." Takera requested.

Shinken looked at the cuffs and scoffed. He wasn't going to submit to being cuffed. Not by a long shot. He had a mission to complete, and while he was just as dangerous with cuffs on as without thanks to his genjutsu, he certainly wasn't going to leave himself vulnerable.
"Tell you what I'll put away my blade and that's all your getting. If you think I'm just some run of the mill soldier look around. I'm one of the only two left standing and my body count is a lot higher than his. You try to cuff me and we have a problem. I'm just here to save Leoman, that's it. We can either work together or you can ******** right off and I'll do it myself. Besides, we don't have time to waste squabbling." The young Uchiha said firmly standing his ground while placing his weapon away. With that he looked over to the Guards who had retreated back into the entrance to the citadel. It only took him a moment to turn back to the Rebels and the punk who thought he could cuff a shinobi.

A loud explosion would drown out the current conversation as the stone face of one of the higher levels of the Citadel blew outwards. Chunks of debris the size of a man's torso sprayed outwards crushing into several of the rebels and peppered the buildings around them as well. Another explosion rung out on another side of the Citadel and it could be seen how the building shook from it's position, threatening to tear itself from the mountain itself as yet another explosion went off from within the building this time.
For a moment silence descended. A wall of debris and dust thickened the air. Through it the sound of marching could be heard.... another explosion shook the ground where the rebel army and shinobi stood... and then there was a powerful gale pushing the dust away to reveal a frightening sight. Six Hundred of the ghastly Lifeless Creatures descended from the Citadel's hold. Immediately the engaged the Rebel forces, their swords drawn and hacking away mercilessly at the living.
Standing at the entrance overseeing them was an enraged Bishop. With a flick of his wrist yet another gale form from his motion and stroke out at the Rebel army encasing a group of the soldiers in a raging whirlwind that ripped flesh clean from bone. "How befitting that the whirlwind army would be destroyed by a wh-" The man's words smothered into the rapidly approaching knee of Sai. Hands wrapping around the back of the Bishop's head, he drove his full force behind that knee propelling him out of his grip to drop several feet away. "Hello Havarseth, I've missed you..."

Shinken was taken aback by the massive army of zombie like creatures that had now shown themselves. Any talk of cuffing him now would certainly be out of the question. So he turned to the Lifeless army and the bishop behind them. He had to find a way through the army. That man had to die. He represented all of the corruption in the city, all of the pain and suffering. That man had to pay for his sins. Even as he fought against the army crashing against the rebels the young Uchiha was able to strike back, killing several and suffering only minor wounds.

Takera took a step back as the explosion rang forth releasing the rubble that crashed down towards them. He looked back to notice two important factors. The disguised Sai was gone. The other being the rubble that crushed a small portion of his army with ruthless intensity before scattering down the steps behind them. Takera patted Shinken on the shoulder. "Let's see if there is something actually backing up all that bravado!" He took a few steps away from Shinken as the boy ran forth to enemies ahead. He drew forth his shield and then the sword given to him by the commander that joined his ranks. He took a few steps away carefully watching for debris before thrusting his sword into the air. Ahead of them was a new enemy in yet greater numbers, but something foul hang in the air. Takera didn't like it. Their appearances like that of geared up corpses. He glanced back upon his soldiers. "I don't think these things are quite going to listen to us! The Bishop stands at the peak! THIS IS OUR TIME TO SEIZE POWER AND RETURN IT TO THE PEOPLE! FOR OUR FAMILIES, FOR OUR NEIGHBORS, AND FOR THE BASTION OF PROSPERITY THAT THE HOLY CITY WILL SOON REPRESENT! ....CHAAAARRRGE!" Takera commanded out to the soldiers with a strong tone of voice. He turned to move towards Zarathos, who in turn bared his teeth in frustration knowing what was to come. Takera climbed up onto the wolf, grabbing a tuft of fur from the back of the giant wolf's neck. Zarathos turned toward the approaching army as the two watched the rebels pour forth to clash with the creatures. Immediately the rebels began to suffer casualties. Takera leaned back in surprise as one of the creatures leapt for him having slipped passed the soldiers. Reflexively he swiped up with the sword and sent the light decaying creature hurdling back across the ground a few feet away. Immediately he patted Zarathos's right side and the wolf turned hurrying off at an arc around the backside of the rebel forces. Takera's eyes scanned across the crowds of clashing soldiers from both sides. It was clear to him at that point that something was majorly wrong. The rebels who had normally exceeded all expectation were beginning to suffer losses and much quicker than anticipated. Takera continued to study the creatures as quickly as he could, drawing in anything he could garner. Something particularly unique to the creatures was that unlike the rebels, they all carried distinct fighting styles and attacks that almost suggested these decaying creatures were each unique fighters in their own way. It was then that Takera's mind returned to the matter at hand. He glanced back towards the area he was previously standing and happened to catch glimpse of Averus. Sha was sticking closely to Averus. Takera breathed easy for a moment before a thought popped into his head. Where did Sai run off to? Takera glanced along the soldiers up the steps before his eyes fixated on a figure nearing the Bishop in the distance. It was Sai running full force for the Bishop, who also happened to be the one person who needed to die for them to succeed. Takera returned his focus to the battle ahead of him. Even with the help of Averus, the two wolves, and the arrogant boy, he feared that the odds here might be too stacked. Sai has already reached the Bishop. It might be best to keep a careful eye on him and start treating this battle more along the lines of attrition. If we can survive long enough, and Sai's aim is true--we might just make it.

Averus Ikaru
Averus took the moment to keep himself at a good distance from the enemy, untill things calmed down. Averus looked back to the now approaching people and what appeared to be reinforcements at some time. He took a breath, taking a cloth from one of the corpses that was not that dirty, ripping it off as he then wiped the blood and gore off of his blade. Tossing the cloth to the ground, Averus looked up and for a small moment he saw Sha pushing his nose toward his injured hand. He tilted his head, then looked up and when the ‘general’ approached them, he looked right into the eyes of his comrade.
Averus said nothing nor did he react to seeing Takera, as he looked now to the two wolves, and the two strangers, who he had no real idea who they were. He was going to then ask just what was going on, when he saw the army of the Lifeless begin to approach their group. Averus almost jumped at the booming sound of an explosion, seeing debris fly about. He crouched down at the second, even closer explosion, now looking as the army approached. He gritted his teeth, as it was clear that things were going to get dicey real fast.
He would have spoken to try and possibly retreat and get a better advantage, but Shinken already was flying toward the horde of enemies, and noticed that one of the strangers had already disappeared. With no real reason not to, Averus moved his way toward the army and twirled his blade in hand.
As he approached, one of the lifeless was able to get a pretty decent attack right at his shoulder, though thankfully it was a rather weak attack. Biting his teeth to the slight amount of pain he was feeling, Averus drew his blade and quickly cut down several of the lifeless before him, aiming to sever limbs and heads in quick, deadly precision.

Shinken continued to press the assault slowly trying to make his way through the horde of lifeless toward the bishop. There was no force in this world that could break his will to see that man killed. This was reflected in how deadly he had become on the battle field. The young Uchiha was hyper aware of his surroundings. Every time an attack would come his way he would bring his blade up to meet it. The sounds of ringing steel and death cries filled the air around him. So this is what war was really like. It was a cruel and horrible thing, but in this moment it was necessary. The first opening he saw was a rebel who had been impaled on two blades. The lifeless was helpless and so the young gennin moved in a took the thing's head from it's shoulders in one clean blow. As he moved on through the swarming mass of blood and bodies Shinken saw an attack coming his way he stepped around it and, noticing a lifeless who had been staggered back by a rebel's attack, leaped into action he ran his blade through the thing's neck and with a violent twisting shove decapitated a second monstrosity. He continued through the ranks killing any vulnerable lifeless he found in the only way he could be sure they could be killed. By separating their heads from their bodies. As much as he wanted to stay and hack them apart even further for cathartic release he had other things do to.

Averus looked around for more targets to take care of, watching as Shinken continued to push forth toward the bishop as he, too, made his way through the sea of lifeless bodies. He gritted his teeth as several of the lifeless were able to scratch at him, feeling pain and stings in several spots. His blade twirled about in a flurry as he aimed the edge to cut deep into their throats, taking out more lifeless as he pushed harder.

Takera watched on as the armies clashed. He noticed that Sai was doing his fair share of trying to deal with both menaces before them. He glanced about the soldiers ahead as he noticed the undead continuing to suffer blow after blow and yet still somehow still fighting back viciously against the rebels. More of the lifeless began to fall, but the numbers weren't nearly significant enough to close the gap of rebels lost.
Glancing across the army he noticed one of the boys from earlier making great strides as he pushed through the undead connecting serious killing blows upon them. Just then Takera's eyes caught sight of Averus farther back beginning to push farther in. Takera leaned back for a moment. He had something in reserve for the situation, but because of Averus's rash choice, and subsequent small victories over the undead, it was impossible for Takera to use it. It went beyond him to take such a drastic measure as sacrificing a teammate while options still remained on the board. Takera let out of heaving sigh over the predicament. Zarathos came around to face the side of the army the two had been on. Takera took one more glance over the clashing armies and then over to Averus. I don't have a choice. I need to subtract him from the equation if I'm to use this. Takera thought to himself as he reached into his pocket for confirmation of the scroll. Letting it reside in his pocket he returned his focus to the battlefield.
"We need to get to Averus and Sha and remove them from the battlefield for a moment. I have a plan, but their safety comes first." Takera spoke in a low voice to Zarathos as he leaned forward. Zarathos's eyes glanced back to Takera in recognition of his words. It might not have been in Zarathos' interest to go after Averus, but Sha was another thing all together. Zarathos turned and took off along the backside of the rebel forces coming full force up and around to the spot where Averus had pushed through to join the front. Sha was waiting just before the soldiers impatiently as he was forced away from Averus when he slipped through the crowd of rebels. Takera slipped off of Zarathos behind the crowd landing before the wolf. Sha glanced to Zarathos and back to Takera before facing him. "I need you, champ. We need to get Averus and get away from the army, so we can regroup." Takera stated in a low voice as he bent over, his hand stretching out and brushing over the top of Sha's head. Takera turned toward the crowd and pulled free his shield from his back before he began to push his way through. He was able to make up ground much easier than the other two as he dodged and slipped through the rebels into the clashing zone. Averus was only a few feet from him when he arrived. The other boy could just barely be seen far off in a section ahead of the two. He seemed completely driven to push all the way through to serve whatever ends he was so passionate for.
Just then a lifeless undead came stumbling toward Takera from the side. He had been so preoccupied that he failed to notice it until the last second when suddenly a rebel threw themselves in front of the attack, their body crumpling over to the ground. Takera gritted his teeth in anger before reeling back his shield and slamming it into the creature. The undead would be sent hurdling back the way it came only to find itself caught up with other clashing rebels and undead. Once sure that the undead was no longer focused on him, he returned his focus to Averus ahead of him. Takera reached out for Averus's shoulder just as the boy finished slaying an undead. A handful of undead corpses laid out around them. Takera placed a hand on his shoulder, stopping his movement. "Averus, it's me. We need to move back and regroup quickly. Follow me back as fast as you can. Sha and Zarathos are waiting just beyond our soldiers. We'll mount up and make our next move carefully." Takera spoke softly, but was close enough that Averus could hear him just fine. Anyone else beyond them would be unable to hear. He took a glance back over into the distance where the other boy was. There wasn't enough time to go after him. He could only hope that the time it took Takera and Averus to setup would be enough for the boy to break free of the undead army and make some distance from the impact zone. Once Averus was ready, Takera would retreat with him back to safety behind their waves of soldiers.

Closer to the entrance of the Citadel, the man looks upon the battle. His face is hard beneath the stream of blood flowing from his forehead and nose.
There were very few rebels on the battlefield to his surprise. He could count no more than a couple dozen. No... the main force that opposed him were the very Holy Soldiers of the city themselves. Frustration coursed through the man as he fought to understand why his own forces would turn against him. Knowledge of his betrayal had died in the Trial Room, yet here stood Aka'Sosan's men fighting on the side of the Rebels. "Traitors... Heathenish traitors..." The man spat the words.
Eyes searching the battlefield he selected a lone warrior that stood alone, his body wrapped in bandages that were stained with blood. His blade had torn through the Lifeless with a merciless focus. Soon he would be joined by another warrior, this one dressed in the armor of the Rebels but carried a weapon belonging to a Holy General.
Grinding his teeth, he rose two fingers in their direction. "For your crimes... you shall pay a blood penance."

A blast of wind would strike at the chests of Averus and Takera alike. The impact would strike them like an anvil striking down upon them, knocking them clear a few feet back.

Wounds would cover Sai's body, most would be oozing blood as he stepped over the destroyed bodies of Lifeless. The last set of monsters had taken him longer than he would have liked to admit. He was getting old...
Slowly he stalked towards the Bishop, either hand held a bloody grip on either one of his scimitars. It wouldn't be long before the man would realize Sai's approach. Fervently he would reach to his belt to draw a long dagger, one that Sai would recognize. "I'll be needing that..." Sai would announce, gaining a confused look from his foe. It would be in that moment that he would lung out to stab one of his scimitars into the shoulder of the Bishop, earning himself high pitched cry of pain.

As Shinken fought his way further through the masses his enemies became more skilled. it took more effort to avoid their attacks and he was forced to focus more on defense than offense. He still managed to drop another three bodies as the fighting raged around him. He was getting to the point where he could no longer see the rebel forces in the mix. If he wasn't careful he was going to get cut off. This realization forced him to cull his anger and his hate and slowly retreat back to the front line. The best thing he could do would be to make an opening for the main force of fighters, and then charge forward with them.

Averus Ikaru
Averus stopped himself after finishing off several of the Lifeless, then felt as Takera placed a hand on his shoulder, nearly turning with the blade in hand to strike as he breathed heavily. Clearly he was stuck into the battle, sensitive to his surroundings. Once he slowly calmed down and saw it was Takera, he took a deep breath. Nodding but saying nothing, Averus turned around just as one of the Lifeless attempted to grab hold of his neck. He grabbed the wrists of the sickly fiend and pushed it away from him, but not striking as it fell backwards into the mob of flesh that was slowly making its way toward him.
Averus went to take a step backwards away from the enemy, keeping his eyes at the Lifeless as he stepped back. He was going to follow Takera when suddenly he felt wind strike squarely into his chest, knocking the air out of his lungs as he was sent flying several feet and landed on the ground rather hard. Averus groaned in pain as he rolled over, tasting copper on his tongue as he realized he had bit down on the side of his mouth when he landed, glad he hadn’t bit his tongue instead. Struggling to crawl a little before he tried to stand, Averus looked quickly for Takera as he was further away now from the Lifeless, but tried to spot Shinken in hopes they would be backing off as well.

Takera glanced up for a second as he noticed the Bishop staring down at them. It was too late, a sharp blast seemed to barrel down upon himself and Averus, thrusting the two back several feet. In that very second he also caught sight of Sai turned towards them fighting the lifeless. He threw up a thumbs up at the point of impact as his way of trying to signal Sai that he was set to use the scroll. He had little clue as to whether or not Sai would notice as he hurled backwards into the rebels behind him. Takera turned on his side as he lifted himself back up to a kneeling position. He had a feeling that had he not been wearing that armor, it could have been worse. Rebels that had been barreled over now stood and gathered ahead of Takera and Averus, shielding vision of the two from the Bishop above as they prepared to clash once more with the undead. Takera drew longer breathes as his breathing calmed. His head rose quickly as his eyes scanned those around him. Averus was only a rough foot or so away. He seemed to be fine, although shooken up. Averus had glanced from Takera out in the other boys direction, but the emerging rebels clashing with the undead blocked their view. Takera stayed low and Averus and himself were absorbed into the growing crowd. He slowly moved over to Averus and grabbed hold of his hand. "We need to move quick while the Bishop can't see us." Takera whispered as he tugged Averus up to a kneel and then turned towards the rear of the soldiers. Takera brought Averus along to the back where Takera was greeted by the nostrils of Sha, as he booped his nose against Takera's helm and sniffed, suddenly exhaling all at once. Takera placed a hand out on Sha's head. "Was that really necessary..?" Takera inquired while whispering. He paused only for a moment to listen for any distinct noises. Only once certain they were clear, did he pull forth the tiny scroll from his pocket, clenched in his hand. "When I toss this, we each hop onto a wolf and gun it over the steps as far as we possibly can." Takera whispered keeping an eye and ear out around them. Zarathos and Sha looked at one another, Zarathos scoffing while Sha simply stared unnervingly. The two turned to prepare themselves for the coming moment.
Takera raised three fingers and nodded as he began to count down one finger at a time slowly. He pulled free the string on the last count / finger and slung it across the ground at an angle into the center of the two clashing forces as hard as he could (off in angle away from the players). The tiny scroll soared the slight off set angled gap between the soldier's legs almost out of sight before being kicked even further in as it began lose oomph and descend closer to the ground. Takera immediately turned with Averus and as the two mounted the wolves, the wolves turned with great haste fleeing for the steps. The two massive beasts carrying the duo lunged over the steps in a mighty bound, one after the other. Upon the first landing Takera grabbed his chest and coughed haggardly, having scrambled to recover from the earlier attack, his hastened movement caused mild feedback from the haste-ridden violent movement. The wolves made great leaps and bounds as they cleared entire sections of the steps in single bounds. They reached near the base of the stairs before the two wolves would stop and rear back looking in the direction of the plateau above. In that brief moment Takera was trying to anticipate what was to come next with no clue other than the implications Sai had imposed upon giving instruction for the scroll's use.
