Activating Demonic Illusion hellfire X2 Quote: Resolve Chakra 11,900 Stamina 8,000 Focusing 1 Toughness 39 -600 Chakra +420 Chakra from perks Shinken Saw that the guards were changing their tactics so he began to get far more serious. He knew he had to get through these guards as quickly as possible. A switch flicked in his brain, and he began to analyze the battlefield. The guards seemed to be using some kind of combination technique to attempt to protect themselves. That meant that they had to break their concentration to break the line and over take them. "Full Assault! Break the center line! Averus take the left side!" Shinken cried barking out the orders even as he himself fell into line. He only hoped that his attacks would still have an effect on the guards now that they had this technique of theirs up. Averus blade was found true as he made short work of the guard, however the rest were taking a defensive position with their shields raised and interlinked. A humming light emitted from the guards, carefully they took a step back in a slow retreat back into the citadel.
As the Irikura rush forward they'll find themselves rebuffed by an invisible force, knocking them down and away. They each quickly return to their feet but it the light of the guards seems slightly dimmer...
As the rebels grow close you can see that their is something clearly wrong with them. Blood streams from their ears, eyes, mouth and nose as they gurgle their war cries and attack the backs of Shinken and Averus.

Shinken was taken aback by the appearance of the Rebels. They were obviously sick, or being controlled, but how? That didn't matter now. He would have to take them all out if he was going to complete his mission. He launched an assault on the oncoming Rebels aiming to destroy their minds before they could reach the Irikura line.

Averus Ikaru
Averus looked back as he saw the rebels grow closer toward their group, seeing the blood stream out of their eyes like crimson tears, as well as around their mouth, nose, and even ears. He wondered if this is the result of what happened with the thief at an earlier time, if the potions were what was doing this to them. Averus grimaced a little at the thought, as he was seeing it like they had just reanimated the recently dead rebels.
But, this was not something he could focus on now, as their group was quickly surrounded on all fronts, between the guards with their now dimming light that seemed to protect them, and a horde of crazed, possibly reanimated, rebels, this mission just got a whole lot harder.
Averus looked as Shinken was focusing on taking out the rebels that had appeared, more than likely going to try to take out multiple since there was far more on that front, but Averus knew they were fighting a two sided battle. He chose to focus on protecting Shinken’s back by going for the guards.
Avoiding an attack that was aimed at him, Averus spun his blade in his hand as he moved as fast as he could, aiming his attacks for lethal and easy cuts to the guards.

Shinken saw Averus rally the Irikura to attack the guards, and the horrible consequences. They couldn't afford to split their efforts not while they were outnumbered like this.
"Leave the guards! Defend yourselves and push back the rebels!" Shinken shouted hoping that his orders would take. He himself launched an attack on the rebels as well. His illusions didn't seem to be doing anything so instead he resorted to fighting in close combat.

Shinken continued to watch in horror as the Irikura dropped like flies all around him. They weren't soldiers they weren't made for this kind of combat. He wasn't going to abandon them but their chances continued to look worse and worse.

Averus Ikaru
Averus turned his head after he cut down one of the guards, seeing Shinken seem to have trouble as he resorted to close quarters combat. He gritted his teeth, but it was true. As Averus looked around, he saw several Irikura already falling. Turning back toward the rebels, he rushed forward to help Shinken with the rebels. As he did, he turned quickly as one of the crazed rabble went to attack him, their face a horrible sight to see at such a range. Averus braced himself for the attack, only to find it did not come, as one of the Irikura came to his aid, taking care of the rebel who attacked him. Only, Averus had to watch as the guards took care of the rebel who saved him, then looked on as more died as the rebels began to overwhelm them.
“I hate to say it, but retreating might be the best option right now…” Averus said to Shinken and any left of the Irikura that were left alive, his back to Shinken as he kept his blade at the ready.

Shinken saw that they were being completely overrun and began to make his way closer to the Chief's son. He had to protect him at all costs. The Irikura were the only chance he had to complete his mission. When he saw the rebels closing in on the son he knew he had to act fast. There was no time to think as Shinken threw himself at the man, attempting to send the man stumbling out of the way of the oncoming attacks. As he did so the young gennin tried to place his arms in the path of the attacks, hoping to both give the son more time to react and find a way out, and lessen the damage the blows would cause to himself. Shinken knew that he was going to be hurting by the time he got out of this fight, and that he would probably need medical attention, but if they could just hold out until reinforcements arrived then they could still achieve their mission.

With blades jutting out through his sternum, the men let out a rabid howl before continuing to hack the man apart.
The guards carefully take another step away from the rebels and the two shinobi. They seem more worried about the rebels than they do Shinken or Averus. Without their Irikura allies the duo are left in the cross roads of the two forces.
In the nearby distance a large conflict can be seen in the annals of the market. Hundreds of holy soldiers can be seen falling to the efforts of a much smaller force of rebels... the guards before the shinobi seem to be even more shaken as they take yet another retreating step.

Shinken Cursed with rage as he saw the Son impaled on three different weapons. This man and his people had been some of the kindest Shinken had ever met. In an instant he was on the mans attackers, his eyes burning with fury. He grabbed the blade of a fallen rebel and began to cut his way through the rebel ranks. He wasn't going to fail this mission not after so many had sacrificed their lives. When the first attack came his way Shinken deflected to the side, and retaliated by spearing the man through the chest with his stolen blade. There would be far more deaths before he was through. All of these crazed rebels would die, and so would the guards.

Averus Ikaru
Averus gritted his teeth, as they were down to just the two of them now, and the Son. Watching as Shinken flew into a rage as the Son was attacked by three different weapons, he knew that there was little chance that retreat was an option. He considered fleeing himself, but Averus had devoted himself this far into the mission, even if it has ended up being more of a suicide mission. Hoping that at least some form of reinforcements might arrive, Averus steeled himself for battle, quickly deflecting an attack from one of the crazed rebels, before twirling his blade and aiming to stab them right in the throat.
Averus was then caught off guard as a spear came running toward his hand, and he flinched back just as it scraped the back of his hand. Gritting his teeth once more, Averus kept his guard up as he waited for the next chance to strike.

Shinken continued to fend off attacks from every angle as the Rebels closed in around him. Still he was able to strike out with his stolen blade and land another killing blow. His blade got stuck in the body however and he was barely able to avoid a killing blow on himself. The blade dug into his forearm causing a moderate laceration, before he was able to pull the blade out of the body and avoid the follow through.

Quote: Shinken: 77 HP Averus: 49 HP Takera: 47 HP Sai: ??? Rebels: 410 Karasu_Tenma If you wish to proceed fighting continue to Roll 2D10 The battle between the two shinobi and the crazed rebels would come to a sudden end as the four hundred strong army of rebels, volunteer soldiers and defected holy soldiers made the their way up the steps to the Citadel. At their lead was two men, both accompanied by large wolves. One man walked in the armor of the whirlwind soldiers, his gear that was once so immaculate was now laced with dents from deflected blows and covered in the grime of human gore. This man seemed to lead the entire army. The other man walked a short ways behind him but held himself separated, he never marched nor followed but seemed more to be simply accompany the army. He was covered from head to toe in gore and held a pair of bloodied scimitars in both hands.
As the army stopped and the first man approached, the crazed rebels became calmed before staggering back. Half of them collapsed to the ground, the damage to their bodies from the poison irreparable at this point.
~*~
'I think... I'll stick to birds...' Sai thought to himself. His ride on the large wolf had been short lived. The man had no idea how to ride the animal properly had clung dearly to the beast for a short while before rolling off it's side. He had opted to walk from that point out...
Standing just behind Takera, the man grinned widely, "Command away, General." From his tone it was obvious that he was very amused at the turn of events. With a mocking gesture with one scimitar, Sai waited for the man's actions.
