Exit to Trial Room

From where Takera hid he would be able to see everything that happened next...

The guards that surrounded Nisha would split in two to also surround Shun. Both would be placed under arrest and forced to relinquish all possessions before succumbing to a search of their body for any hidden objects. Once finished they would be quickly escorted to the Holy Citadel, where they would be placed with the rest of the masses that had been detained.

Their pace would be more rapid as a swarm of locust attacked from above. Soldiers that were not detaining foreigners or citizens would raise their shields, a luminescent light would blare out towards the sky and in it's fading light the burnt corpses of the bugs would fall... A shout would come out and eyes would find Averus sneaking in the distance, the shadows temporarily dissipated. He would have several moments to run before soldiers began to bear down on him. In that same moment a thief could be seen sneaking into the shop, her eyes would fall on the eyes of the wolfhound that watched her but did not move as light revealed her to the world.. whimpering, the girl shot a hand out to the lockbox of vials and quickly ran away before either the wolfhound, Averus or the soldiers could capture her.

Bustling with the rest of the citizens being escorted, Juugo would be taken to the Holy Citadel as well. Similarly, he would have his possessions confiscated and be made to wait for interrogation just like Nisha and Shun.

All the while, Takera and Sha would watch on hidden in their barrels.

Takera's eyes eased open as he began to grasp that he had fallen asleep. He wiped the drool from his chin and took a deep breath as he partially stretched his back. His legs and the shoulder he had been leaning on were cramping mildly. The stress of all that was going on had caused him to doze off shortly after he got into the barrels. He had been asleep for four hours. Takera's eyes widened as the thought of seeing Shun and the one girl get taken away by the guards washed over his mind. Shun had been taken and Averus and Zarathos were still unaccounted for. Takera grasped his head. "What do I do..?" Takera whispered to himself.

The Inner World

Takera emerged in his inner world once more as he tried to grasp the situation and his role in it. The air blew gently inside the realm. The sky wide and blue while a knee deep layer of water coat the ground. Zeru emerged from the water a few steps away until he was completely standing upon the water around them. "What's wrong, Takera?" Zeru asked in curiousity. Takera leaned forward and brought himself to a stand in the water almost losing his balance, but managing to maintain. Takera shook his head, his breathing was unsteady. "He's here, Zeru.." Takera said as he slowly turned to Zeru. With a slight bit of concern Zeru raises a brow. "..Who is here, Takera?" Zeru inquired. Takera took a deep breath, his brow fuzzled from stress. "Sai Orasakai is here in the city and the whole place has gone into lock down for unknown reasons. Shun has been taken by the guards and Averus is no where to be seen." Takera explained. Zeru's head tilted back slowly as he began to recall memories from long ago. There was a brief pause between them.

Zeru took a step and a half closer before placing a hand firmly on Takera's shoulder. "Takera." Zeru called to him. Takera's eyes lifted, as his head turned, to see Zeru's stern expression. "What's most important to you right now?" Zeru asked. Takera's eyes widened. An image began to form in his mind. It depicted Shun, Sha, Zarathos, Averus, himself and Zeru together. Takera turned to completely face Zeru. "I'm not strong enough.." He said, his expression pained. "Whether you succeed or not doesn't matter, but whether you try or not will." Zeru said, allowing his arm to drop back to his side. He took a few steps away from Takera and stopped. "It doesn't matter that I'm no longer of this world." Zeru raised his hands up into the air over his head, feeling the breezes passing over them as a sign of Takera's turmoil. "You were there for me, and you came back. That's all that matters, Takera." Zeru turned around throwing his arms out, a soft smile across his face. Takera's eyes widened fully. He scrambled to stand above the water and threw both arms out around Zeru's waist hugging him. Zeru's arms came down and embraced Takera. "You have a job to do, remember?" Zeru exclaimed.

The Outer World (Reality)

Takera jolted from his stationary position. His confidence restored he pushed up on the lid of the barrel slowly opening to peer outside. It was still dark all around and the Sirens could still be heard in the distance. He noticed a patrol passing by on the main street down the alleyway where the stand had been. He decided to give it a little bit of time as he observed. He took notice that while the guards appear often, they're actually spread out enough that windows of opportunity to pass undetected are abundant. Takera slowly climbed out of the barrel he was in and removed the lid from Sha's barrel. The wolf slowly crawled out and stretched. Takera leaned in close and whispered instructions for Sha to split up and meet him just outside the market in the city out of sight. Sha moved silently in the shadows in another direction as Takera placed his attention on the stand. He waited just out of sight for the next regiment to pass by before quickly and silently crossing over the pathway into his group's merchant lot. He quickly slipped in behind the crates to find Zarathos there curled up in ball. Both eyes were open, staring intently at Takera before he realized who it was. Takera motioned with two fingers for the wise old wolf to guard the stand and their merchandise after he leaves.

Takera quickly dug through one of the crates to find spare dried meats and assorted snacks/water. He brought his bag around from his shoulder and tossed a handful of dried meats and a few bottles of water inside, leaving a few out for himself on the spot. He took a handful of dried meats, tossing a single strand to the wolf before devouring the rest and washing it down with a couple bottles of water. He stowed the empty bottles inside the crate and sealed it back up before walking along the backside of the crates hunched out of sight. Beside them was one of the main pathes towards the city. Takera waited for a group of guards to pass before leaping and crawling over the wall behind their stand and heading towards the city. Takera weaved through properties doing his absolute best to avoid the streets at all cost and cautiously watching the guards for breaks in formation before passing through.

Nisha walked over to 'Nii Nii' as the guards moved in around them in order to detain them, she still smiling and walked with 'Nii Nii', as the guard escorted them into the Citadel, she looked around the grand walls of the entance way in awe as they walked together into the body. Once they were inside the Citadel the guard came to them and asked for them to hand over their possessions, NIsha gave them her courier bag that was on her shoulder, which contained her stuff, before they informed them of the body search Nisha hid behind 'Nii Nii' refusing unless the person look at her was a woman. "Nisha agrees, but following law would like to request a woman for the search". Nisha said in part to convey her name to 'Nii Nii' as she asked to be seen by a woman guard or priestess.

Having left most of her things back in her room in 'Erin's Slice of Aren', Nisha bag was rather empty, it had a bunch of different pockets, in one it had some traveling food, which was a bag of trail mix, little bits of chocolate, nuts and dried fruits together, some type of dried meat bar. In another pocket was a bunch of different things, some hand moisturizer, a hair brush and a bunch of hair ties, some tissues and band aids.

In her the main compartment of her bag, was a fill water bottle, her wallet, containing 3000 Jakatas and some Ryo, the document she had gotten from the guard when she paid the entrance fee for the city, a large pair of sunglasses, and the key to her room at 'Erin's Slice of Aren',

Averus Ikaru

Averus was just making his way into the shadows when a flash of light came out. He shut his eyes just barely to block out the sudden rays of light that dissipated the shadows that were hiding him. Gritting his teeth, he began to turn his body to start hauling away as quickly as he could. A slight pain of regret appeared in his mind from leaving his hiding spot before, but at that moment he pushed the thought away. He couldn’t regret that now, not when solider were spotting him already. Right when he was going to run did he spot the woman by the small shop his group had set up. His eye went wide as he saw her sneaking around when the light flashed, and then saw her bold after her hands moved toward the lockbox. He was sure he had placed the lock on it, as well as the miasma mark, yet the thief had done something that he could not see.

Making a quick decision, Averus decided to just leg it as quickly as possible. Whether or not the thief had gotten her hands on something, he had hoped Zarathos would have done something to stop her. At the moment, he needed to avoid getting caught, especially with the guard now coming to bear down on him for whatever reason they had for rounding up the others. Running as fast as he could, Averus aimed for the next best thing outside just shadows. Running up a wall to the roof was now out of the question, as he would not have time to do so, as well as the possible threat that one with a ranged weapon, or perhaps even ranged jutsu, might nail him and he will have a rather bad end.

So, his option now was to find an alleyway as quickly as possible. The open street was not going to work, too many possible eyes to see him easily. An alleyway might be better, the small corridors and potential hiding spots would be far better than running around in the open. He hoped, anyway, that he could find one and run down it before the guards caught up to him.

Three soldiers detach from the main forces and chase after you. Ahead of you is another cell of soldiers on the upcoming intersection. You are not so close to them that they would be able to immediately be able to join a fight should you turn on the three chasing you.

However you notice behind the cell of soldiers ahead a bridge and beneath it another level of bridges. The idea of jumping for it crosses your mind. A momentary flash of light reveals a hole that sits between two buildings, it is small but you can manage to crawl through.

There are mere moments before your choices are removed and a fight with the three soldiers is impossible to avoid. Waiting that long however will ensure the cell of soldiers ahead will arrive much sooner.

A sound is made from your side. You notice a pair of eyes watch you from the darkness, a hand beckons you to come. Looking closely you can see there's a hole cut into the mountain wall. The hand beckons again.

Takera slipped in behind a building, stopping to break for a moment. Thankfully, it seemed the guards were more keen on combing untouched area than places they had already locked down, though plenty of them were still lurking. Takera took a deep breath believing he could relax for a moment, but in that very moment he caught sight of something in his peripherals. His eyes widened ever so, and beads of sweat formed across his forehead. He slowly turned his head to glance upon the figure. A pair of eyes were lurking in a shadowed over area of darkness along the mountain side. A hand reached out to Takera making gesturing for him to join the figure. Takera paused trying to make out details, but his eyes were having trouble picking anything specific out.

Takera took a few steps forward as his eyes began adjusting a little more to the darkness. He could make out a hole in the mountain side that had been hidden by the darkness. The hand gestured once more through the hole for Takera to follow. He was hesitant, but also curious. Ignoring the bad feeling welling up in the pit of his stomach, he decided to follow. He walked up at a distance from the hole peering into it. He steadied himself before stepping through in one smooth motion and glancing around as he entered looking for any signal of movement. His arms raised mid way ready to react.

Averus Ikaru

Averus ran as fast as he could, trying to keep a good, long distance between him and the three soldiers that were chasing after him. He shook his head as he ran, unsure where he was going to be able to find an alleyway that he would be able to run down. Looking ahead of him as he turned a corner, he saw another group of guards at an intersection of roads. A pit sank into Averus’ heart as he realized he was basically cornered. Fighting was going to be impossible, not with so many guards around now. The only good thing he could see from the current situation was that the cell of soldiers ahead of him had not spotted he and the other three that were running after him still. Of course, Averus also knew that luck was not going to last much longer, especially if the guards chasing him shouted about him at all.

Averus did a quick look around the area, trying to see if there was any other option he could take that didn’t involve barreling into a large wall of metal and pointy bits. He saw two options that could be possible. The first was the jump that he could see toward a bridge, but of course it was going to be luck if he can do it. The other option he spotted was a small hole that he could see between two buildings, and the thought of going into it came to mind, though where it led could be anywhere. Again, luck would need to be on his side.

Either way, he didn’t know how much farther he was going to have to run, and had to make a decision right this moment. Between the two, Averus went for the one that might be a bit more risky, but at least it would be a bit more exciting. Taking a deep breath, he began to run for the jump that he could see, running as fast as he possibly could to make it count, as he was only getting one shot at this.

"Don't worry, brother... You're safe now." A wolfish grin flashed from the darkness and the sensation of dreadful cold claws at your body. And then it's gone...

Your eyes adjust to the darkness and you see before you a man dressed in a cloak of mixed brown hues. "Are you ok, brother?" The man asks, a frown pinching his features. His skin of his face is a sun burnt brown and leathery from what you can only assume to be weather related. "I don't know where you are headed but these tunnels head every where in the city.. I myself am leaving the city with all who will follow, we shall not idly stand by for the crimes of the church and royal family."

Your movements draw the attention of the soldiers and they turn to face you. Shields raised and swords ready, they prepare to strike at you, assuming that you are attempting to attack.

However they watch on in surprise as you jump for the bridge below... and miss. You find yourself tumbling into the darkness below.

Takera tensed up entirely for a moment as his body felt wrapped in the grip of icy claws. The cold domineering voice that had gotten to him once prior now spoke out again. Takera's eyes struggled for but a moment to make out the wolfish grin revealed in a flash. His expression steadily grew dark. As fast as it had set upon him, it had vanished. Takera eased up taking in the view of the cloaked man before him. His skin had a sun burnt complexion and looked leathery. The man had asked quite a peculiar question: "Are you ok, brother?". Takera's expression eased up as he noticed the frown upon the man's face. He lowered his arms to his sides and straightened up.

The man continued on to announce his plans for departure to Takera. He paused only for a moment. In the situation he was facing, Averus was now missing--on the run from soldiers, and Shun willingly gave himself up to the guards for reasons unbeknownst to Takera. It was not likely that anyone caught would be allowed to keep their Jakatas once caught. The city wreaked with immeasurable greed. The guards at the gate and the head of commerce both exemplified this in their own way. Takera rubbed his chin for a moment taking consideration of his desperate situation. He had no clue just who this person might be, but if there were really tunnels running throughout the city, it would allow Takera to move freely without complications from the city guard. If the man's cause were true, he could also garner a unknown number of potential allies that could be particularly useful to his cause.

Takera remembered for a moment, the glimpse of a man's face being unhooded by the guards at the main gate. They were bringing in prisoners of war, which meant they were part of the rebellion. Takera reached back with his spare hand to grab the base of his bag. He could feel the vials that were still with him. His hand brushed against the marbles in his back pocket as it returned to his side. Takera bit his bottom lip, feeling that the minute spent in thought might impact the situation negatively. "What good will running away do you? If you're really tired of all this madness and greed plaguing the city, then.." Takera hesitated for a moment. "Why not help me instead?" Takera requested with an earnest expression and urgent tone of voice. "They already took one of my friends, and.. I think I have an idea of how to send the message straight home. An eye opener." Takera took a moment to recompose himself. Plenty of doubts passed through his head as he pleaded with the unknown figure, but the decision was made and time was running short.

"If you can't help me that way, then perhaps you could at least part with me any information you might have on this 'Leoman' I saw earlier. And, .. possibly one other thing." Takera recalled a conversation between his team on the day in which they received the scroll, though he felt without even a small response yet if it were too dangerous to bring up that.

The man grins, gesturing to follow him into the tunnel as he backs away and eventually moves deeper into them. "I think I know the person to answer all your questions. Takera's head lifted half an inch as he took notice of the grin. A puzzled look crossed his face as he contemplated the option to follow or travel the tunnels with mysterious guides. He couldn't trust any of these additional people any more than he really could the person before him, but time wasn't on his side and he knew if he was going to make any serious progress against the iron clad fortress of greed that this city became, he couldn't be pick. Takera needed the help, and so he began to follow the man through the tunnels wherever he was headed, but kept in toe just outside of arm's reach.

Takera kept a sharp ear and tried to make note of distinguished features along the tunnel walls and ground in an effort to establish an 'early warning system' if this man had really just been luring him into the tunnel as a means of keeping him pre-occupied and / or lost.

Takera watched as the men corrected by the healing essence began to shake off their confusion and soon joined the hordes. Takera didn't have much time though. Just as he was content to turn and find the General, he heard a direct order from that very General. A command to the troops to take the fight to the Holy Army for control of the market. Takera shuffled into the converging mass slipping through the cracks and gaps of the other soldiers. Many near misses ensued because of the armor, which had been mildly difficult to account for as somebody not used to the extra bulk it provided. Takera pushed through as closely to the General before branching off at the on-coming enemy. What happened to no direct confrontations!? Takera thought to himself as he thrusted his shield forth to block the assault.

The lines became drawn as the wave of soldier mass came rushing in droves to meet the lesser rebel forces with Sai and Takera hidden within the ranks. There were saved volunteers now pushing in and through the soldiers up to the front lines to help fight back against the encroaching threat. The clangs of metal on metal rang out resoundingly across the contact line, but soon the lines began to break apart. Gaps opened in the lines of both sides as soldiers and rebels broke off into one on one and one on two conflicts. This was an opportunity for Takera. His skills were appropriate for slipping through the lines and picking people off as he went. He dodged a quick swing coming his way and pulled free his sword, jamming the base of the hand into the soldier's throat. The soldier stumbled back dropping his weapon for only a moment, but in the heat of the moment it was far too long. Takera flipped the sword in hand and with a quick swipe the man's head flung off. The body tilted back and crumpled to the floor.

Takera slipped away into the front lines between the cracks. With a decapitation at a well timed flank or the removal of an unguard limb, he began to carefully remove the advantages the soldiers had. If their numbers were forced short by the surprise of an unexpectly swift enemy and the armored bodies continued to pile up along the lines, it would become increasingly difficult for the Soldiers to actually make use of those numbers, but instead widdle off their own numbers for Takera to use to his own advantage. In what seemed like only a few minutes he had dropped 10+ soldiers with key strikes causing a disturbance for the Holy Soldiers trying to press into particular sections of the rebel line. Takera slipped past a couple of combatants, his shield on his back for protection, he slipped unexpectedly on blood that had washed the floor beneath them from soldiers who had fallen before his arrival. He managed to steady himself, but was forced to drop to one knee. In that moment a rather bulky looking soldier had leaped for the chance. Takera turned at an angle to look up at him, his eyes widening as unexpected the man's sword clashed with another. One of the redeemed volunteers clashed with the soldier just above Takera's head. It was a narrow save. Takera shifted back tossing his sword from his left hand to his right then swinging immediately with a precise clean cut through the man's armored leg. The blade just barely managed to push all the way through, but the soldier would die from a follow up strike to the head by the redeemed volunteer just after the loss of his balance and sharp pain had immobilized him. Takera picked himself up and patted the volunteer on the shoulder in thanks before pushing him back a step as a sword came between the sword. With a swift swing at an angle, the sword and the arm it belonged to were thrust into the air, landing across the ground nearby. Takera split off back into the lines to crack more shots at the exposed enemies while doing his best to avoid getting caught up in any direct combat.

A small group of soldiers stood off on the sidelines of the battle, their shield's aimed at the Rebels and light glowed ominously from them. With a growl, Sai turns to face them and howls an order for several of the rebels to focus their attack on them. They would need to be careful of the Holy Soldier's tricks or they would quickly find their numbers being thinned... thankfully more rebels were joining their effort as Takera's healing ability reached straggling volunteers.

As Takera came circling around another group of fighters, he had expected to take advantage of yet another foe, but it would seem that some of those just outside the main contact line were gradually beginning to take notice of his efforts and were moving in to capitalize on him instead. A soldier came into view and within the moment Takera noticed the man's arms cocked back to his left side. Swinging forward in a barbaric manner like swinging a baseball bat, the Soldier swung a big two handed sword at Takera. In the last second Takera turned in the slide hunkering down with his back out toward the soldier. The only thing guarding him was the shield mounted upon his back. The sword made contact and lunged Takera back at an angle into his own rebel forces that were lying just beyond the contact line on his own side. He fell through the gaps after a brief stumble, landing amidst the rebels moving in to take up the opening spaces at the front.

Takera laid there for a moment face down on the ground. A light breeze brushed over him and all he could hear was the incessant shouting and clashing of metal that had consumed the market at one time. Takera drew in a slow steady breath and allowed himself a moment to think. The odds are still too much right now. I need back up, even if only just temporary. Takera thought to himself. His head turned lightly to one side, then the next. He paid careful attention to the troops and he drew his hands in underneath himself. Hidden from the enemy by his troops and too much chaos for his own recognize him beyond a still body on the ground, this opportunity would be his best. After having fought and traded blows, his armor and gear were scuffed, dirty, and even mildly banged up. Takera wove a sign underneath himself. Beside the other littered bodies, a scattered out five versions of his fully armored self appeared in a controlled order blending in with other corpses.

These versions of himself were clones to help him capitalize against the threat before them. One of him was unequivocally keeping the enemy advance in check while helping to push back against the odds. No doubt five more of him, only for a short time, would turn the odds completely around. Quickly his clones rose to their feet getting into place across the front line position and preparing themselves. Takera himself rose from the position he was laying, turning over to get a view of the line and his clones. As he turned he was surprised to find a Soldier standing over him. The soldier happened to get in too close over the line and noticed Takera moving. He attempted to stab down, but was interupted by another rebel swinging and bashing their shield into him. The soldier stumbled back and steadied himself once more. The rebel moved up to guard Takera, but in the process the Soldier thrusted his sword forward and pierced the rebel's neck. The rebel fell flat between the Soldier and Takera creating some distance between them. Takera took a deep breath. Something didn't feel right to Takera. If they are this strong, why is it that they aren't able to advance with such numbers..? Takera thought to himself as he glanced out to and past his clones looking for potential answers.
