'You find that at the center of the mountain a shelf extends out and opens into a deep cavern. Inside you can tell that the walls have been artificially pushed back to give it a wider berth that would be normal. Ornate columns have been constructed to keep the cavern from caving into itself, however some columns are falling apart and leaves you wondering if it's truly safe in here. However you can see a busy market life in the cavern, a multitude of buildings and shops have been carved into the walls while stalls have been set up in the few open spaces afforded.

"What do you fancy, sir?" The young woman asked, her eyes bright with enjoyment. Giggling she twirled and gestured to the ceiling, "The city's the limit!" A priest flanked by two guards pushed through the crowds to approach Kaito and the woman. With a firm grip, the priest takes the woman by the arm and pulls her to him before dragging her away without a word.

Of course someone always had to jump in and ruin the fun, just seconds ago he was having the time of his life with some wonderful woman he'd just met. Things couldn't have started off any better, until some angry rapey lookin priest had to stroll through and literally snatch her from his arms! Hey wait!! Kaito yelled, catching up to the guards and the priest. This girl, not only his damsel in distress was probably his key to completing his mission. what's going on? Where are you taking her?! Kaito stood directly behind the guards. Although not wanting to bring anymore attention to himself than needed, this girl was of his utmost importance!

The man had been in the middle of enjoying the view of the bustling market when the two merchants approached him. With a cursory glance he looked them over before looking back to the market, "Citadel? Ah, you mean the open space by the Citadel. Surely." The man interrupted before scoffing at the merchant, his face reddening as he rounded onto the man. "You mean to try to swindle me? Surely you have no idea who I am and that in of itself is an extravagant sin against Aren! Pssh, you surely are either a fool or an imbecile! Lesson one, know your audience. Why in the seven hells would I want to waste my money on tonics to support the Malazans? Surely you jest! Lesson two, the price of the rent just went to 4,200 Jakatas."

The man turned his eye to the bandaged... bodyguard?. "However loan me your play toy over here for the night and the price stays at 3,500." The man swayed as he moved to lounge in a nearby chair, his eyes on the bandaged individual as he licked his lips seductively.

A young priest stared at the ceiling of the market, her hand freely moving against a notepad that she held firmly on her arm. Moving carelessly with her head tilted back she ran straight into Hajime and fell backwards with a loud oof.

The priest stopped to regard the bumbling fool. Frowning deeply he nodded towards the guards. One let out a loud whistle and three more guards quickly surrounded Kaito. One of the guards rapped the edge of his gauntlet fits painfully against the back of Kaito's head. "Don't make a scene and this will be painless." One said as he and another grabbed Kaito by either arm and began to drag him through the market and towards the Citadel.

Hajime stepped down the quaint yet shoddy walkways, staying clear of the crowds. He stayed close the railings, eyes on distant twinkling lantern lights. Despite his apparent distraction, his senses were keenly aware of his surroundings. He heard peddlers selling jewelry from the mountain depths. Meat mongers heckled passerby to purchase preserved delicacies from far off places that Hajime had hardly heard of. A water merchant hawked vases filled with the precious life-giving fluid, claiming that his drink was captured from nearby springs. A tool merchant claimed to have the best in pickaxes, hammers, chisels, and cutlery - all of it he said, "Better than what those Irikura could make with their witchery!"

Hajime glanced down, and saw some commotion several floors down. In the entrance-way that he'd just entered though, there were suddenly a great many soldiers, dragging along some folk wearing sacks on their heads. The monk glared down at this display, trying to make some sense of it. He trained his ears, and heard bits and pieces of the announcement over the roar behind him, "General of the Whirlwind, Leoman of the Flails... traitor to the Seven.... treasonous sins... Holy Falah'd... executed immediately."

Hajime stroked his chin. This was very curious. He knew some of these terms from the dossier. The Whirlwind Rebellion was a civil dissident group that were fighting against the Priests. Their leader was supposedly the reincarnation of one of the Seven that the Priests worshiped, the same goddess that supposedly created the endless whipping winds on the desert side of the mountains. The Holy Falah'd was the Royal Family of the Holy City of Aren. They're overseers of everything that goes on in the city, he recalled. The title of Holy Falah'd belonged mostly to their patriarch, Aka'Bashi.

Soon, the crowd dispersed, and Hajime glanced back at the market surrounding him. He began to walk again, both of his hands in front of him beneath the arms of his robe. Just as he got his hands where he wanted them to be, he found himself in a collision. He fell backwards and grabbed the nearby railing for support. Hajime righted himself and his cap, then offered a hand to the person that had bumped into them, "My apologies. I should have been watching where I was going."

Hajime analyzed this person. They had a pen and notepad, and were dressed as some of the priests he'd seen below and about. She seemed as confused as him- her eyes hadn't been watching her path either.

Shun watched as the man berated him for his lack of intelligence, something Shun was sure to remember to look into next time he approached someone of authority in the city. He was not entirely sure why this man specifically hated the Malazans or if it were the entirety of the city itself. Even if they were a holy city, why would they knowingly allowing ten thousand soldiers, even worn down, into their city. There must be something more here… I will have to try to look further into this… something is definitely not right. Shun bowed down before the merchant once he had finished chiding him for his indiscretions. ”I greatly offer my humblest apologies to you, oh lord of the market. I did not mean to strike offense upon you, I beg for your forgiveness. I only wished to offer you a means to quickly allow the Malazans to get out of this fine city.”

Shun seemed to be turning his words just slightly, playing at the blatant hatred the man was spewing from his lips. It was in that moment he noticed the eye that he was giving his traveling companion, Averus, that Shun drew together a new part of their plan. He quickly shot a glance over to Averus, a gleeful grin plastered across his face at the opportunity that had been afforded to them. Forgive me, Averus… this is for the mission. Shun looked back over to the man and nodded lowly. ”Ah yes, of course… I will be more than happy to provide my guard here for you… he will also be willing to give himself to you completely. I do only ask for a simple request in regard to this… due to he being my guard, I would ask that he be allowed to keep an eye upon my stand until tonight. I will then bring him to your home myself… in chains, if you so wish it. I also wish to properly prepare him for the night he will spend with you, he is quite the obedient lover.” Shun shot the man a wink.

He had hoped that the man would allow him to keep Averus with him and to bring him to his home personally once it became night. This would give him ample opportunity to explain his plan to Averus and Takera as well as prepare his plan properly. Shun had several scenarios planned out just in case something else hit a snag, making sure he would be properly prepared to face anything he came across. ”I would be more than happy to also loan him to you for the entire duration of our stay in this city. He is more than up to the task of being your play toy, master.” Shun slipped his hand into his pack and withdrew four of the five bottles of tonic he had pocketed earlier, offering them up to the man as well. ”I would also like to provide you with these specialized tonics for your personal use. These are made specifically for the highest class of people.” Shun hoped he would accept the entirety of his gift and may possibly lax on cost of the location just a little, but even if he did not budge from the original asking price of 3,500 Jakatas that would not hinder the plan he had whirling away in his head.

The man grinned widely, appraising the merchant before him. "Wise decision... perhaps you'll join him yourself in chains? Make it a ménage à trois?" The man purred. Pulling a fan out from within the folds of his shirt, he began to fan himself as he returned his sight to the market. His demeanor immediately changed, a coldness fettering his eccentric. "Your rent will be 3500 Jakatas each day. Payment will be expected noon of each day or you will find a brigade of soldiers to escort you from the premises. You will leave with me 2,000 Jakatas as a non-refundable deposit securing you the space from other bids. This is, of course, nonnegotiable." As the merchant continued to try to barter with the man, a rage built in him. Crushing the fan, he slowly turned to face him and leaned forward, the broken fan pointed at the merchant as he spoke, "You think to sway me with your filthy tonics that you plan to sell those Malazans?! You think you can swindle me? Test me further, merchant, and your rent will double immediately." Reappraising the guard, the man sneered. Tossing the broken fan away, he retrieved a small bottle of repugnant smelling liquid. Holding it in his palm a soldier, seemingly materializing from nowhere, came forward to take it and pass it to the merchant. "You may have him come with you, however I will expect him at the Skyward Inn at midnight. And before you leave, he must drink this tonic. Have no fear, it'll have no lasting effect beyond making him very, how do you say, appreciative of what is to come. Drink it now, and do not try to deceive me or I will have you barred from this Market entirely."

Takera stretched, letting go of the rope still wrapped around his waist. He yawned lightly just before Shun inquired about the merchandise. Takera glanced back at all the crates and knotted off bags. There wasn't any presence of moisture and the sound of glass moving about was lightly. No signs gave off any reason to believe there was damage. "Everything is good on this end, boss." Takera responded, a smirk crossing his face. Takera reached back and pulled his traveler's hood up over his head. He was forced to leave his normal ensemble at home, but thanks to some help from Shun and some of his own past experiences he was able to collect pieces of something a little more befitting a merchant's guard. He kept his fingerless gloves, but he was now adorned in a long sleeve black shirt with a sleeve-less dark blue gentleman's vest over it. A red cloth tucked uniformly into the pocket and on the vest. He wore a pair of baggy-ish long black uniform pants, and his shoes were like those of most commoners and merchants, but in a plain brown color. He wore a light brown traveler's coat with a hood. Thanks to Takera's findings while struggling to reign in control of his mind and body, the mode he entered converted his appearance significantly. His skin and general appearance were much healthier and cleanly. He had done a fine part of looking like most 'nobles' in his general appearance. He had hoped that it would work out for the best and either gain him favor with particular parties, or at least keep some negative figures off their back, but the city was still full of many surprises. There was no telling till it became a point.

The group came to a stop as Shun beckoned for Averus to join him. He planned to go bargain for a cheaper spot. Takera grasped the side of the cart and stood up from his position. He caught an earful of a statement he wasn't quite sure he was up to. Shun demanded he stay with the cargo at the spot while they went off to deal with the man responsible for renting the merchant lots. Takera scratched the back of his head lightly before pausing to notice the dog paying particular attention to him. Hmm. He looks awfully soft.. Takera thought to himself. Takera sat down on the edge of the cart watching them walk off a short distance away. Takera glanced down at the dog with a smirk. "Ya know. I don't like being left out." Takera said before swinging his legs over and scooting and down into the driver's seat of the cart. Slowly but surely he managed to turn the entire cart around without interrupting the flow of people around them. Slowly he had the cart roll up towards the two in the distance. A short distance later he brought the cart to a stop. It seemed as if they still hadn't quite noticed. Takera watched as Shun addressed the man. It seemed to be going poorly until he noticed the sly look on the man's face. He was taking particular interest in Averus. Takera's mind started working it's magic as a wicked smile crossed Takera's face. He got up from the seat and hopped back over into the cart where he untied the rope from himself and tied it through a metal loop in the side wall of the cart. Takera pulled up the edge of the tarp and lifted the lid of the closest crate. He grabbed hold of one of the corrupted bottles of liquer that was currently being suspended in a pure form.

Ever since Takera discovered this new form, his normal attributes exuded a strong healing and cleansing essence, but he found through much trial and error that the properties of effected items like these liquids would change depending on the stage he was in. For now, the bottle of liquer would be like it's own invigorating miracle tonic, but if Takera were to ever return to his other form, the liquids and people who came in contact with them would be consumed steadily by the corruption that lurked from the inside out. It would be especially devestating as the controlled timing could kill the links to a source and most methods of identifying chakra would merely turn up the visibility of Toyotama Miasma Chakra within all the victims.

Takera nodded to the dog to sit guard for the moment being and then hopped down over the edge of the cart down to the ground beside it. Takera walked over coming up just behind Averus as Shun got done trying once more to appease to this guy's good side, which Takera was having a lot of trouble really seeing. He placed an arm around Averis hugging him tightly with the one arm. "Hold on, Hold on, Hold ooonn a minute. Let me get this straight. You..? Are interested in.. this particular buddy of mine?" Takera arched a brow coyly as he locked eyes with the head merchant trying to size him up through whatever responses he might give upon the completion of Takera's proposition. "Hmm. That's a hard call, sir. You look like a man of fine tastes, and trust me when I say you won't get much finer than this perky specimen right here. He's practically a champion in his own right." Takera began to jesture with his other hand as he tried to persuade the head merchant. "I can't just go giving a commodity like this away like it was nothing, so allow me to make you an offer. We'll have him primed and ready for tonight--a night you won't ever forget, but in exchange for this you'll allow us to use this lot for 1500 a night plus 15% of all our earnings each day." An expression of strong confidence spread across Takera's face. "What do you say? He scratches your back, you scratch ours?" Takera laid it on thick. This could be quite the moment. On one hand they could be sitting good, but on the other they might find themselves in a pickle pushing the game too far.

The master of the market simply turned his beady eyes onto the newcomer and raised a fat, little brow in distaste. "You're not much my flavor... However now the deal has changed. You like to bargain and push the envelope? Fine. I was once a lowly merchant too, I'll show you the same respect I was given. Our old deal is off the table. New deal: BOTH of these two, BOTH drink this tonic-" Another bottle was produced and handed to the merchant he had been talking to the entire time, "However you do not need both of these men to guard you. He stays with me, now. I'll find something to do with him, surely." The man stated, gesturing a fat, ringed finger to Takera. "As compensate I will drop your rent to 3,000 a day, however the retainer fee of 2,000 stays. That is the deal. No more negotiations. If you don't like it you may pack your goods and try another city as I will not rent you another spot nor sell you any permits and as the Master of Commerce in this city, you have come to an impasse on this subject."

The girl was shaking her head and moving to gather her belongings when she looked up at the man she had bumped into. Confusing the analytical look he was giving her as a lustful look, tears began welling in her eyes as she clutched her arms before letting out a loud wail of fear. "RAPE!!" Her voice was swallowed by the noise of the market, however several people in the nearby vicinity looked and began murmuring. A few motioned to her aid as others went in search of the guards.

Averus Ikaru

Averus looked more than surprised at the negotiation between Shun and the market master, even more surprised at how he was tossed in on the deal, and from what was being implied, basically meant he was screwed. He looked at the vial that was pulled out of whatever place the market master had, and then turned to Takera as they arrived soon afterwards. Only, now things seemed to be getting worse at the moment.

Averus had only two options now at this point: He either denied the potion, keeping himself from getting what he could only describe as a very rough couple of hours, or he would take it, endure what ever hard ship was ahead of him now, and hope that it all ends up being worth it in the end.

Averus sighed, then nodded his head that he agreed to do this. He also had a very hard stare at Takera and Shun, though Takera he gave less so since he was going to have to endure it for only a little while.

Shun could feel the hair on the back of his neck seem to rise when the man suggested he join Averus in chains as well, the purring making him feel rather disgusted. He hid this feeling and seemed to regain his ground as he bowed his head lowly once more before the Master of Commerce. ”That is most reasonable, master… I thank you for being such a generous patron to my humble shop.” Shun still had hope that the man would accept his offer of the tonics, but was dismayed when he seemed filled with even much more anger than previously stated. Deep down he knew he should not have pushed it any further, he played his cards wrong and now he was going to pay for it… well, Averus was going to pay for it - he would have to make it up to Averus… at least that much was clear to him. ”That sounds quite reasonable.”

Shun was about to turn to give Averus the drink when he noticed Takera pulling the cart up behind them, watching his teammate come up to Averus and swing an arm around him. Well… this cannot get any worse I suppose. He stood there for a moment and watched Takera attempt to sell off Averus even further, something he found could either work in their favor or end up causing them more harm than good. Takera seemed to be selling him fairly well up until the master of the market spoke to them of a new deal… a deal he knew they would have to take.

He gazed over in a slight nod at the merchant who made such demands, holding both vials in one hand between his fingers. I could try to swap these vials… I would have to do it quickly.. While he has his eyes focused on Takera. Just as Shun was about to fake a pain in his stomach when Zarathos and Sha leapt down from the cart and growled loudly at each other, barking fiercely until Zarathos leapt upon the younger pup. Both of his hounds were fighting each other, causing a ruckus in the market and even the sounds of another event unfolding of someone shouting ‘rape’ could be heard in their location. Much going on… Quickly Shun took advantage of the situation and moved his hand with the vials given to him into his bag, swapping them out with their own vials. He moved to Takera and Averus, handing and forcing each of them to clasp their hand around the vials in order to hide what they were.

”That will work out fine, Master… drink both of you…. SHA! ZARATHOS! THAT IS ENOUGH.” Shun was now turned to his animals who suddenly stopped fighting and whined, seeking shelter away from their seemingly enraged master. Zarathos shot Shun a sly smirk as he darted under the cart.

The master clapped his hands and laughed like a giddy girl as he watched the two creatures cause a scene in the market. "Are those your creatures? Oh how so lovely! They're gorgeous!" The man squealed before his attention shifted to the priestess girl crying rape, oh how lovely the day was being for him. "Ah, I'm bored of you three now.. Pay me my money and begone already. I've lost interest..." The man looked the two guards up and down with a look of disgust. "in those mutts."

Hajime kept his hand out, but slowly retracted it as her face revealed an odd look, an emotion he didn't expect. It seemed like fear? Then, she began to wail and scream. Hajime stood up straight. He looked at her with a cocked head, arms akimbo. He asked, "You're joking, right?"

"We bumped into each other on the street," He explained flatly, "I don't understand what your problem is." Hajime began to grow wary of the eyes that were on him, and a slight sweat began to form on the back of his neck. This girl could ruin everything, if he didn't play his cards right.
