Flying Time

Aysun was in a stand off at the moment with Sunshine, standing in front of the Kinfa that seemed to be growing bigger every day. He'd almost bet that she was near to the size that she was almost big enough to ride on these days. At least she would be if it wasn't for the fact that she still wasn't able to fly, something that he really needed to see about remedying sooner then later. His hands rested on his hips and he starred at her for a long moment before he told her, "Alright, Sunshine. It's really time for us to get you up and into the air. As big as you are and as brightly colored as you are it's really important! I don't want you to become the snack for some Witu which means you need to learn to fly!" Lifting a hand he pointed at her with his index finger and said, "We are going to do flying lessons starting today, you aren't getting out of it this time!"

The large bird gave a grouchy, squawking sound, her wings opening up wide and giving a flap as though she was trying to argue her own point. Closing her wings again she seemed to be looking from side to side at the other beasts that were around, within eye sight, looking for back up but nobody seemed to be coming to join her. The only two who even paying attention at the moment was Flower, who was almost always at Aysun's side as his second in command and Sinnika who just wanted to play.

She'd been hoping that perhaps Pembe would on her side in this instance, but no luck. The big scorra was sitting nearby, napping in the sun from the looks of it, meaning she was on her own in this whole 'flying lessons' thing. As such it seemed as though she was going to be stuck doing this, not something that seemed to please the kinfa. She'd never shown interest in flying, content with walking around from place to place, but Aysun had been pushing it a lot lately, saying it was for her own good.

Closing the distance between the two of them Aysun reached out to sooth a hand over the feathers on her head, "Come on, just a few attempts of at least trying to get up in the air, alright?" He said to her in a gentle tone of voice, "You know that I love you, Sunshine, and I just want you to be able to take to be able to escape in the need for it arises. There are a lot of dangerous animals roaming around out there that might want to harm you or to eat you. What happens if Maw or I aren't around? You need to be able to escape into the air where things like Witu can't get."

Taking a couple steps back away from her, giving her a smile, he said, "Alright! It's time for us to try to fly!" Aysun said, holding his arms up and out, giving them a flap as though he too was preparing to fly. It was something that actually drew a sound like a laugh from Flower from where he was fluttering next to Aysun's head. Aysun gave the sprite a glance, "Do you want to try to take lead?"

It was something that had Flower shaking his head, while still grinning a bit, motioning for Aysun to continue. His attention went back to Sunshine once more, "Now, your turn! Open up your wings and stretch them out, we don't want you to pull anything while we try this, and we will see about trying to do a take of." Turning around one hundred and eighty degrees he started to walk forward, arms flapping, and once he was certain that Sunshine was following him he started to pick up the pace.

Aysun was up front, arms flapping, with the Kinfa following along after him flapping her wings, and following along after the both of them was Sinnika. The little radaku had zero chance of flying, but he didn't want to be left behind, not when what the pair were doing was looking like so much fun! If the people of Yera didn't already think that Aysun was an oddball then the strange scene that the three were making was sure to fix that. Aysun didn't really seem to care though what others might think though, he never really had. Random people weren't what was important to him, it was just his family that mattered to Aysun when it came to people. Save for them the training and care of his animals was what was the most important to the young man.

"Alright, come on Sunshine! Flap harder!" Aysun called to her, doing the same himself, drifting slightly to one side to give her space in case she actually wanted to push off of the ground. Turning to watch her he saw the manner in which she was starting to sort of get herself up and off of the ground. It was quite an impressive sight, seeing her feet actually starting to lift up a bit, "Ah! Yes! You're doing really well, Sunshine, you're almost the... ack!"

Aysun's praise ended in a squeak of surprise as he tripped over Sinnika who had caught up and tried to cut in front of him to get closer to the near flying Sunshine. He fell over, rolled a couple times, and ended up on his back laughing, "Ouch... careful there, Sinnika, it's Sunshine that can fly, not me." He said as he sat up slowly, looking himself over. He didn't see much in the way of wounds other then some scrapes and sore spots that might end up as bruises. Save for that he was sure that he was alright, he'd just been a bit surprised by the fact that he had gone from running to tumbling in an instance. His own fault for not really paying much attention to anything except for Sunshine's progress

As he dragged himself to his feet, brushing himself free of the dirt sticking to him, his attention turned to the three that had been running with him. Sunshine, Sinnika, and Flower came over to circle around him, looking worried for their Earthling friend. He gave a chuckle, reaching out to give snuggles to Sunshine and Sinnika, then gave Flower a kiss on the top of his head, "I'm alright you three, don't worry so much. It was just a little trip and I just a bit scrapped up." Aysun gave himself a once over then added,"Hmm, how about we take a little break, let me rinse my scrapes out, and then we can try another attempt at flight?" The three beasts didn't seem as though they were going to protest as they headed back to where Aysun had left his supplies and other pets at, wanting to get himself cleaned up so they could get back to the flying lessons once more.

I Choose You, Kinfa!

Aysun stretched out all over, giving the group of his beast a smile, before he pushed up to his feet, "Alright, I think that it's time to add more weights to your packs Sunny, Sinnika, so that you can ready yourself for the day when you will carry me about on your backs as Maw does. The two of you are still a bit weak yet, not able to carry me, and I really do want the two of you to be able to do so." While he wasn't sure if Sinnika, who seemed small for a radaku, would ever be able to carry him for long lengths of time he still loved him. He'd still be able to aid the group by carrying back laden with supplies though and give Aysun the occasional ride, right? The mere thought of getting to ride a radaku was something that made him smile happily. They always were his favorite after all.

He lifted a hand, scratching the purring Sinnika under the chin, before he then turned to Sunshine, "You're nearly full grown now, Sunny, meaning that soon enough the two of us are going to be able to fly together. It something that I am really looking forward to. " To be able to see the world from high up in the air where only Kinfa and other winged beasts could reach. It was a thought that excited more then anything of late had. The only exciting thing to have happened was his meeting with that Shifter boy who had beasts that numbered nearly those that he had. It had shaken him from the sad state that he'd been in, helping to get him moving forward once more, and allowed him to meet yet another beast friend.

Turning his head he gave a glance toward Volos who was coiled up in the sun. He gave a little smile before looking forward once more to the three beasts before him. Maw, Sunny, and Sinnika were all good beasts, beautiful and loyal, and he looked forward to further adventures with them. It was Sunny though that he was most looking forward to riding though, feeling as though flying would give him freedom beyond measure and help him to move further and further away from the sadness that still clung to his heart. He'd be able to travel, to visit all the places he'd always wanted to see, and he'd be able to greatly enjoy himself. He was so excited!

Walking over to his own pack he dug into it, getting out two pairs of weights out of it, adding one to each of the saddle bags that Sinnika and Sunny were wearing. Helping the pair out with strength training to make sure that he'd be able to ride them both one day. Once each had their new weight added he said, "Alright, both of you get moving! Test out the new weights I've given you." He said, giving a whistle. It was the one that told them that they could go play. Sinnika instantly went racing forward to run circles around them while Sunny took to the air, circling over head, both testing their new weights.

It made Aysun smile before he leaned against Maw, patting his side, "Until they are ready I will continue to ride on your back, so long as that is alright with you, Maw." He got a growling reply from Maw, which made him chuckle, "Good to hear. Thank you, Maw."

Growth Solo: Aysun, Book Assassin!

(( Aysun isn't one that likes to deal with large crowds of people, preferring the peace of nature or being around his beasts. After a failed prank that results in him ruining a few of Chandra's books though he finds himself forced to go visit not one but several villages in hopes of finding replacements. Along the way he finds himself face to face with a rather intimidating Oban which brings up old fears caused by close encounters with the warring side of the Fire Tribe while he was younger. For the sake of his twin and because he wants to replace what he ruin he does his best to cast aside old fears so he can approach the merchant. ))

It was supposed to be a joke. It wasn't as though it was the first time that he had stolen things that belonged to Chandra, in fact it was something that he did for fun just to get a rise out of his twin. That was all that this was supposed to be today as well. He'd slipped into his brother's room, dug around through his things, taking a small stack of his books, and headed off to hide them. He meant to do what he always did, mess with Chandra for a bit, see what sort of expressions he would make over the missing books, and then he'd give him back. It was something he'd done a hundred times rather enjoying to tease his brother... but today turned out just wasn't a good day for jokes.

Aysun was currently hanging upside down from a tree branch, his foot caught in the crook between two branches, with Flower buzzing around his head. The branch that he'd been running across hadn't been strong enough it would seem, having given way under his feet. He'd fallen, bounced off a branch, then found himself hanging from the tree... and far below he heard the most terrible sound in the history of sounds, that of a series of splashes. Each of those awful sounds, one splash after the next, was the sound of Chandra's precious books falling to their ultimate doom. The first thought that came to mind was the fact that paper and water were no match for water, that they were certain to get ruined by it. It was a thought that caused him to go stock still at first before he started to flail about until he was able to get free from the branch that he was stuck on, falling down a level to the next set of branches before he set to scrambling his way down to the base of the tree where a river was running between it's thick roots.

He starred for a moment moment before jumping in, wading his way over to where to books were sitting and set about fishing them out as quickly as he was able to do so, having to chase after those that got stuck in the current. Once he'd gotten them all together he held them up, shaking the water off of them as though that would help, and realized that along with water that diluted ink was flying everywhere as well, "Oh... oh no..." He breathed, looking over at Flower with an uncertain look on his face before he slowly opened up one of the books to a random page, starring at the oozing inky splotches within, and could only stare in horror.

"I... umm... ahh..." The book was ruined, everything washed away from the pages, and in that moment Aysun could feel it, the fact that he was going to die at the hands of his brother. Looking around he half expected him materialize with that magic of his before he grabbed Aysun and held him under the water... no, no surely Chandra wouldn't be that mad but he would be mad. He wouldn't talk to him, wouldn't hang out, wouldn't let Aysun hang all over him or listen to stories of the stupid things that Aysun did. Chandra could get a bit prickly when it came to Aysun teasing him and stealing things but he knew that was going to seem like nothing in light of what would happen if he found out about the destruction of his books. Aysun doubted that telling him it was an accident would help since he had stolen them on purpose. So what to do?

The first thing that he decided to do was wade out of the water, sitting down on one of the tree roots, and set about looking through each and every one of the books that he'd been able to retrieve, hoping that at least one of them would be salvageable but to no avail. The moment they touched the water it was likely too late so the fact that he'd had got make his way out of the tree and down to them had taken time, time that had allowed the books to soak up too much water. They were ruined now save for their pretty covers... how was that going to help him? What was he going to do with a bunch of soggy books? Not as though he could just put them back and hope that Chandra wouldn't notice, his brother loved his books so it was obvious that he would want to read them again. He'd figure it out, that only the covers of the books were something that could be read... wait!

Giving a gasp he looked down at the books again, starring a the covers, before he scrambled up to his feet, "That's it! Flower, we have the books still, the covers, the titles! I can get new books!" He said, clutching the soggy books to his chest. He had to go home, well sneak home, before he went to... well, wherever it was that he could find the most merchants. He could go to Sol, to Yera, to Andile, and further if it became necessary. As much as he didn't like the idea he would go as far as he had to go if it meant that he could get his hands on replacements for the books that he'd ruined due to his games.

*****

After sneaking back into his room that he kept at his father's place, being ultra careful not to be caught by his twin if Chandra happened to show up, he gather his things together so that he could go on the journey for new books. He'd never been so sneaky in his entire life, creeping around, ducking behind things at every sound, and just expecting that at any time his twin was going to just appear before him and know everything! Not that he was aware of Chandra having the ability to teleport or read minds but that didn't make the fear of such powers manifesting in Chandra any less real. He couldn't risk letting his brother know what he'd done! He'd just get new books, put them back where he'd stolen the old copies from, and nobody would ever be the wiser! It was the perfect plan and he was certain that Flower wouldn't tattle on him since the sprite was so loyal.

Step one of his 'perfect plan' started in Sol where his father's home was located, with him going to the merchants to seek out the books that he needed, a list of titles in hand, the soggy copies hidden in his pack. Once he'd gotten the new books he'd... do something with them, bury them, perhaps? Hide them somewhere deep in the forests of Jauhar where Chandra would never find them, or something else equally as dramatic a reaction. It was as though he were a child all over again wanting to hide the fact that he'd broken something from his parents... A thought that he shook off as he made his way through all of Sol, seeking out the books from the list... but of those written down he was only able to find one of them. The fact that he could only find one, and even that having cost him a bit, instantly had him on edge with worry. If one book was that much what about the rest? Would he even be able to afford them all? It wasn't as though his lifestyle was one that left him with a lot of money to spar. What he did get tended to be put back into supplies and other things his beasts needed... which was worrisome, but he was determined to figure it out. It was for Chandra after all, meaning that he would put in all the effort needed to accomplish the task.

Thus began his quest. He went from Sol to Ast, finding that none of the books at all were there much to his surprise. From Ast he went to Andile, hoping that it would have something that he was looking for... and there he was able to find two more of the books but the problem was that they were a bit different. The covers were different colors even if the books were mostly the same on the inside, with on a 'few updates to the original materials' he was told. They weren't the same books... but they were really similar so maybe they'd work? Hard to say, he wasn't exactly a book worm himself. Would Chandra notice? Would he know that the 'Big Book of Herbs' had a brown cover originally instead of blue? Would he noticed that the book on basic magic had more ornate lettering on the cover in the newer addition as opposed to something more plain in the old version? Aysun... had no idea. Exactly how well did Chandra know the books inside and out? Would he even go back to a beginner's magic book?

"This is going to give me ulcers." Aysun muttered to Flower as he looked over the two new books that were 'similar but not exactly the same' as those he'd accidentally ruined. Turning to look at the sprite he asked, "You think Chandra will heal me of my ulcers if I get all the books gathered together?" A question that got him a long stare and then a shrug from the sprite, not exactly reassuring... so the journey to find the remaining books continued.

Deciding that the need was great, and that he was a bit on the desperate side, Aysun decided that he was going to skip Emeka and head straight to Neued. He knew that the place had all manner of people in it, including members of the Shifter, Fire, and Water Tribes along with anyone else that might visit such a mixed village. There was a part of him that was a little intimidated by the idea, he didn't like big villages after all, but again, this was for his twin. Already he'd interacted with more people on his trip around the different villages then he had in... well, months. He was more comfortable dealing with animals, feeling that he understood them better then he did other people, which made the quest all that much more exhausting. Add in the fact that he sort of been actively avoiding people before meeting up with Issaly the first time. That had got him moving again, visiting both Sol and Yera, but those short visits hadn't prepared him at all for the book hunt. At least he was slowly getting the books together though, right? The sooner he got that done the sooner he could go and hide in out in the wilderness with his beasts once more.

Within Neued he was able to find another of the books, leaving him with just one final book to find, but as he started to talk to merchant after merchant he was given some news that he could only describe as... well, horrifying. The book he was looking for was no longer being made. The information in it was said to be 'out of date' and that 'new discoveries had been made to disprove some of the information' among other things. It made sense, of course new discoveries would be made when it came to medicine and healing, that was obvious, but the fact that the odds of finding the book were next to nil was just plain awful. It meant that there was no replacing that book, not really. Sure, he could get the new, updated, and better version but it was completely different. The cover was different colored, the penmanship was different, even the one that wrote the book was someone else.

It was a bit of an agonizing decision but he was willing to spend every last bit of his money so that he could get the 'new and improved' version of the book. It would replace the book that had been destroyed in that it was meant to do so. It was the newest version of the book so it meant to be the natural replacement... though it likely would have meant more to Chandra had it been a gift from the heart and not a replacement due to accidental book assassination. Who'd of thought that he could drown a pile of books? A valuable life lesson was to learned, something about not stealing books and running over rivers with them in hand or something. A lesson that he'd take to heart if Chandra didn't kill him over the lost books.

Aysun found himself pointed toward a man name Bersin, someone that 'he couldn't miss' he was told, and he found himself soon walking toward the sort of merchant that, truth be told, he'd been avoiding. He wanted to believe himself above such old fears and distaste given that he'd chatted with Nkole in the past but there was just something about Bersin that was... different. It was as though the man had been something more before he was a merchant. His giant form, the scars, the eye patch, there was nothing about the Oban before him that wasn't completely terrifying and instantly he found himself frozen in place.

It was a strange feeling for him. He was someone that was always hanging around dangerous beasts like Maw, giving him all the kisses, or letting a Keldari wrap itself around him. He wasn't afraid of them... but he was afraid of a merchant? He did he want to get the book this badly? The answer was... yes. He wanted to get the book, even if it wasn't the 'right one' so that he could give it to Chandra. It wasn't what he'd destroyed but it was something that might stand in as a good approximation... right? Alright! For his twin he would do this! Aysun took one step forward, hands clutching into fists as he did so. This was odd. Why was he suddenly so daunted? The war was over after all, the Obans were allies now, and he had nothing to fear from someone whose stall was filled with nothing but books and scrolls. The man was a merchant, he wasn't one of the invaders that dragged his family members, his parents and uncles, off to war several times over. What if he was one of those invaders though he couldn't help but wonder... but told himself that fear mongering wasn't going to help anyone, ever. Bersin could help him so ignoring him or running away from him was the definition of foolishness.

Another step forward and he was dragging in a deep breath. He could do this, easy. He could approach the Oban, ask him about the book that the others said that he had, and once he had it he could retreat. It was as easy as that and not as though the man was going to start a fight in the middle of a crowded marketplace, right? Of course! And he was sure that the scars and eye patch were from paper cuts and other book related injuries, not fighting he told himself as his approach continued with him coming to stand before the big man. He was ready! He just needed to ask about the book, he'd do so simple, state the title and that he would like to buy it and that was that.

As the man turned his attention to Aysun, giving him a smile and a greeting, Aysun blurted out, "I was playing a joke on my brother! I took some of his books to get a rise out of him but they fell in the river! You have the last one that i need so that he won't strangle me! Please, I need it, it's called..." He jerked the list up to look at it, then read, "Magical Herbal Cures for Magical People." Oh man, what a corny title...

Standing there stock still he expected the man to think he was crazy... or to laugh at him...maybe wave him off for a better customer. Instead the big man seemed to hum at the rushed explanation and request for a book before he set to digging through the pile, "Herbal cures, huh? I have a good number of books on that subject including the one you need. My big sister is really into that sort of stuff though less from a magical perspective." A stack of books was soon laid out before Aysun to look at, the 'crowing jewel' as it were being the one that he'd requested. He remained still for a moment, focusing on the books, reading over each title. They were all different from those on his list, so no luck in getting an older addition that was more like those he'd ruined... but still, they might hold interest to his twin?

Lifting his blue eyes for a moment he dragged in a breath and said, "I... definitely don't have enough for all of them... maybe just the top one... but I could always come back for more." He murmured the last bit. It meant coming back to Neued though. The place was like the forefront of the war but... nobody seemed to be arguing. Looking around for a moment he realized there was no old tension here, nobody yelling or glaring, heck there were members of both the Fire and Water tribes chatting here and there in fact. He supposed that was a clear indication that it should be alright here. While he wasn't a people person he supposed that he could do that, could return here again and again, if it meant getting more books for Chandra. Maybe if he got enough of them he could definitely win him over? It might be a better way of getting his attention then book theft as well. His brother might think Aysun was up to something were he to keep bringing him presents... which in and of itself could be fun.

His breathing returning to normal along with the pace of his heartbeat the transaction was made, leaving Aysun a bit on the broke side, but at least he finally found all of the books in one incarnation or another, right? He would be able to bring them back home to Chandra, and hope that it would be enough for not only another prank but one that had gone so wrong. After taking a few steps away from the merchant he turned to the man, giving him a glance, before doing something that he never thought he'd do in his lifetime, he thanked an Oban before hurrying off. He'd had enough of the crowded city he thought to himself as he hurried along, Flower flying along at his side.

"I... guess this means the next step is going to Chandra to hand over the books and apologize..." He muttered to Flower as he ran along. He supposed it was time to go back home, seek out his twin, and await his possibly bloody fate. It was going to be hard, facing his twin, having to admit that not only had he done something extra stupid, that being not only stealing his books, but he'd accidentally ruined them all too. He could give him the offerings of the new books along with his apologies but if his twin decided it was enough, then what? He supposed that was a hurdle he'd have to face when he got to it. Until then he merely had to hold tight to these books so as not to lose them while hoping for the best outcome that he could given the circumstances.

He'd done well in visiting a few villages, even found himself standing in front of an scary Oban, but it was so exhausting... how did people do this every day? Eesh... Chandra especially who was learning magic so he could heal people. It was something Aysun would never quite understand, but he supposed he could admire a bit in his big brother.
