Chapter 7: Rising Storm

User ImageUser Image|| IC ||

A crowd was gathering, atop a small platform stood two prolific people that everyone seemed to recognize and know. The upbeat willing to do anything for you shifter Antiope as well the hot headed and strong willed leader of the leaf people Enki. Word had come that the people of the Wind were planning to take action against the Alkidikes and it didn't sit well with either leader to know that their homes were at risk yet again for another war.

"Perhaps it isn't as bad as you think it is..." Came the whispering words from the direction of Antiope as she stood along side the taller leaf male Enki who stood arms crossed and looking as if the gathering crowd was only going to become a bother . Though they had gathered these people to get their view points on wither to aid the people of Sauti or not it was perfectly clear to both leaders that they should indeed help.

For Antiope Jauhar was her home, her people had lived in the forests for many years, there had been a brief period of peace between the shifters and the alkidikes and though she didn't want to fight against them, the extremists were becoming too numerous and dangerous.

"The people will be nervous...especially since the dust from the last war had just barely setteled..." Grumbled Enki gaining a few curious looks from the crowd.

Antiope nodded her head, giving a small shrug as she stretched and waited as the crowd of people got bigger. Though nervous herself of the outcome of this discussion, Enki did have a point. The idea of war coming around was unsettling, hopefully talking with the alkidikes would change their mind.

Enki cleared his throat, it was in such a manner that seemed to draw attention of everyone nearby and an eerie silence took over as the crowd turned the entirety of their focus on the man. Moving forward Enki took a deep breath,

I am sure you have all heard the rumors of Alkidike extremists who have been spreading through out the forests of Jauhar. Speaking and...sometimes acting in violent manners about retaking Jauhar...and perhaps even further. " Enki began about to continue only to have Antiope join in,

" We are gathered today to put the rumors to rest, and as we present the two nations of Shifters and Leaf we seek the thoughts of our people. Sauti has put in a request for our aid. Alkidikes have threatened to take over their lands...we put out to you a decision to make. Assist the Sauti, or perhaps try and talk with the Alkidike elders...and see if some sort of peace could be brought about." The shifter woman stated, hoping that perhaps peace would be the ulterior method. War wasn't something she wanted to lightly discuss.

AMINAH POST 1

Aminah sat on a bench with her children, her mind already worrying for what was to come. It wasn't a secret that someone had sent word from Sauti. The Alkidike were ready to attack... well, some of the Alkidike. She was positive that there were more that didn't want another war than there were that did.

She watched as Jhana bounced up to her and sat on her lap, placing a smile on her face. "Hey little one. Are you tired already?"

She tried to keep an ear out and listen to the speech the leaders were giving. She felt like she had already been through so much, she wasn't ready for more. Not with her children around.

JHANA POST 1

Jhana had been running and playing with her siblings, watching while Shima did things that made her shiver. She didn't know why her sister always had to touch things she shouldn't.

She ran up to her Mama and plopped herself on her lap. "No I'm not tired. I just want to sit with you." She wrapped her arms around her mother's neck and watched as the people on the stands talked. She didn't know what they meant, but it didn't sound good. "When's Ma coming back?"

Teiluj Post 1

Teiluj's eyes were locked on Antiope and Enki, were they really planning on taking on the Alkidikes? After all the threats and people they had chased out of Jauhar to this point? Was there even enough of them left to even hold them back. The hybrid bit her bottom lip, trembling nervously at the growing tension in the air. Was it just the extremists they were talking about, or were the Alkidike planing to move as a whole?

The later didn't seem like the correct answer. Wrapping her arms around herself Teiluj shivered. It was Enki who spoke first, at least that Teiluj could hear and he was quickly joined by Antiope. She didn't really want to help Sauti knowing the Mystic was over there, not when she wasn't strong enough to be of any help in a war. Her mother had done her best to hide her from the last one and now... now they were being threatened with another one, and so soon. "I don't want to fight." Teiluj muttered feeling rather alone as she stood within the crowd.

"This is a complete bore." Winta said as she rolled her eyes. She had settled herself against a tree, arms crossed over chest, while looking out at the crowd that had gathered to discuss what action they would take in regards to the Alkidikes. There was absolutely no way she was letting any who wanted to cause harm through Tale. The fact that this was even considered was appalling to her. What, were they afraid to stir up more trouble by stepping in? Seemed like that was gone and past now. Not that she wanted a war, especially with the Alkidikes, but she would freeze over in the coldest part of Zena before she allowed them to go trouping through a land that wasn't theirs just because they got some insane idea in their head that Sauti was their chosen land. She knew so many that came from there or Zena that it would be impossible for her to not feel responsible for them. Not to mention what was going on wasn't right.

What were the leaders of the Alkidikes doing exactly? Why had they allowed things to get so out of control? Not that they could really round up those causing trouble but there had to have been some kind of opportunity to change things from their current course. "I guess I can't blame them entirely." Winta sighed out. She was certain things weren't so white and black and that their elders would come to the best decision for everyone involved.

TAU POST 1

Tau looked up at the large trees overhead. He hadn't been to Jauhar, and wouldn't have come if it wasn't for this big meeting they were supposed to have. He huffed a sigh and looked to Liira with Tyyn in her arms.

He took a moment to appreciate the actuality of having a family of his own before switching gears to the person standing above everyone else. Another war?

Tau grumbled and shook his head. The last one already took too much from him, he wasn't about to let his family get in the middle of it this time.

LIIRA POST 1

Liira bounced Tyyn on her hip, watching the little girl giggle and clap. She was a happy child, that was for sure. Something not inherited from her. Also for sure.

She looked to Tau and watched his expression change and his complaints build inside of him. She huffed a sigh of exasperation herself and turned to face him. "Another one? Are you serious?" Liira was about as happy about more wars as she was for that stupid scorra Tau kept around.

TYYN POST 1

Tyyn watched everyone else from her spot on her mama's hip. She was high up here, and could see just like the growed ups did. Her mom bounced her extra high and she clapped and giggled. But when she saw that both of her parents weren't looking happy anymore she looked around at the people standing taller than anyone else. "What are they saying Mama?" She tugged on her mother's arm.

She could see that a lot of people were upset, or angry, but she could't hear what the people on the stage were saying. Was something wrong?

SATHE POST 1

Sathe shook her head at the news from the leaders. What were the Alkidike thinking? Didn't they want peace?

Though she had to start thinking that maybe they did want war and chaos. Maybe the last war was just the thing they needed? They saw all of Tendaji as weak from the last battle, maybe that no one would want to stand up to them.

Well Sathe wasn't in the same mindset. She would hate to see what had happened to all of Tendaji and to Matori with the Obans, happen here and now with the Alkidike. It was ridiculous.

She politely pushed through the crowd, looking for a face, any face that looked familiar.

YEJIDE POST 1

Yejide flitted through the crowd, keeping for the most part herself. There had been festivities, though those at the stage seemed to have killed that off right quick.

She bit into a fruit she had swiped from a traveling cart. The Alkidike this time, huh? Yejide didn't have to be an idiot to know that her skin made her more than susceptible to what was about to happen next. If she withheld her help... well she was Oban so that made her look like she wanted another war. It would look bad.

She sighed and furrowed her brows. She felt backed into a corner and she wasn't particularly fond of that feeling with her lifestyle choices.

Syqvara Post 1

Her eyes were glued. She'd heard the rumors about the Alkidikes, it had been a major concern for her when she thought about any of her new friends getting hurt. Now she was hearing from Enki that the Amazon tribe wanted to take Sauti. Sy wasn't sure why they wanted to take it over, since it was so far from their islands, but she didn't like the idea of violence. "C-can we try t-to talk to the A-Alkidike Elders? M-m-maybe it's just a mis-misunderstanding." She felt color creep up her neck and into her face. Speaking in front of so many was like asking for heart failure. But she knew she needed to learn to deal with it if she wanted to reach her goal of becoming a Shaman.

----------------------

Phaedra Post 1

With everything that had happened so recently she wasn't as verbal as she was previously. "I say we try to see what is truly happening, but if need be we stand with Sauti." Phaedra was doing her best not to be a hot head as she had been once before. It was a side of herself she didn't like. So she wanted to act with caution but she wouldn't leave another earthling tribe out to dry if they needed help.

"We could at least give them a good defense.." She mumbled. Phae wasn't the best offensive player but she could defend at least.

MIRIN POST 1

Mirin flipped her head to the side, watching the crowd and their reaction to the news. What was the big deal? Everyone kept talking about that war that happened, but it's not like Mirin was old enough to even remember it. It couldn't have been that terrible.

But what's with all the fuss, right? Either help them or don't. It was a pretty easy discussion. All for, aye. All against, aye. And... it's over.

She jumped down from her spot on a railing and pushed through the crowd toward the stage. "Just help them, right? I mean it's not a tough choice. Alkidike want to hurt someone... so you help." Well that was easy enough for Mirin to decide. There was no reason not to help in her mind.

Jerami Post 1

"Ah! Mommy, Jhana! Me too! I want to sit with you!" Jerami called over to the pair, shuffling forward, careful not to step on the edge of his dress, not wanting to trip over it or end up landing on his face. Best that he was careful, especially since he had borrowed another of his Mommy's shirts to wear. The last thing that he wanted was to muck it up when she was nice enough to let him wear her things. Once he'd caught up he came to a stop, letting out a held breath, then set to brushing himself off of any of the dust that may or may not be clinging to him.

Once he was sure that he was cleaned up he crawled up into the bench, sitting down next to Aminah, and smile her and his sister before looking around the area. There was a lot going on, all of it sort of going over his head. Something was going on, something important, as such it was probably best that he stuck close to Mommy, at least until Ma and Shima got back. He set to kicking his feet, letting them swing under the bench.

Looking up at his mother he asked of her, "Mommy, is Ma gonna go Sauti?" Everyone seemed like they wanted to go there... was that where she was at the moment? Had she gone to Sauti and then she'd join them here he found himself thinking, not understanding how far away Sauti was exactly, the distance too much for someone his age to fathom.

Yaholo, post 1

The Brute watched the crowd gather from the lower deck of his father's treetop home and heaved the heaviest of sighs. This insanity with the extremists had reached this level, had it? Taking over Sauti, what were they going to do with a pile of rocks like that? They were Alkidikes, and as far as he knew, there were barely any trees in Sauti. How did they expect to survive? To breed? It was the stupidest web of crap he'd ever seen, and he wasn't sure if he wanted anything to do with it. Why get himself tangled up in a mess? He turned his gaze away from Enki and Antiope, in favor of picking Inali up off the ground and walking back toward the house.

"I'll make a good barricade, but I will not be going to Sauti and getting myself wound up." He snarled, placing Inali on the couch. "My Sisters have dug themselves a hole that they will undoubtedly find themselves snared in if they keep going on like this. And I won't be the one bending over backwards to help them this time."

Inali, post 1

Inali lingered next to his father while the elders spoke and looked toward the sky. What was going on? Why was everyone gathered outside like this? Did something bad happen? He studied his father's face, gave a yawn, and smiled as he was scooped up and brought inside. His father's words didn't make much sense to him, or, rather, he really didn't care, and he flopped against the couch with a huff. All this silly commotion! How was anyone supposed to nap through this?

"Lixes! Drexl!" He called, looking for his brothers. "Why are all the adults being so dumb and standing around like this? Don't they know it's nap time?"

Ril Post 1

Rilind turned to look over at his mate, lifting a hand to rest it against his arm, able to feel how tense he was. He wasn't sure what to say in this moment, not when Yaholo was saying that he didn't want to help his sisters this time around, that they had dug themselves into a hole and would need to get out of it. He wanted to be here for him though, to keep him and the boys safe no matter what. Giving a bit of a smile he said, "We will do whatever you need us to do, Yaholo." He told his mate in a reassuring manner.

Turning to look at the boys he sighed, "We need to look after our family, after the boys, but if you decide that we want to do more we can." He leaned in to press a kiss to his shoulder before turning to look over at the boys again, "Inali! No calling things or people dumb." He told him.

Turning back he looked outside toward those that Yaholo were watching, giving a sigh as he did so. He wasn't sure what he thought about this, about Yaholos sisters going to Sauti like this. It seemed like it was all a mess to him, but if he could keep Yaholo and the boys out of it then he was happy.

Lixes Post 1

Walking forward to where Inali was he gave him a smile, patting him on the head, before looking down out of the house to where everyone else was. It seemed to be getting more and more busy, didn't it? So many people milling about, doing things that didn't seem to please his parents. He looked up at them for a moment, watching them, then sighed. He knew something was going on, something dangerous... if it wasn't dangerous then his Daddy wouldn't be so on edge and on guard. It was easy to tell when something was dangerous because he was on guard.

"You can nap if you're sleepy, Inali." He said, lifting a hand to stroke it against Inali's pretty blue dreadlocks, "I will keep an eye on things for you and keep an eye on Drexl." As he said that he looked for his darker haired brother, wanting to know where he was as well. As the 'hero' brother he needed to keep them safe! To guard them because they were his brothers! He'd be strong like their parents and keep them safe if anything dangerous came toward the house... not that he thought anyone would since their parents were here and they were quite scary when they wanted to be.

Callum Post 1

Gathering's were nothing new to Callum, though he far preferred festivals to this. As he shifted from the balls of his feet to the heel all the lad could see was a swarming mass of heads. Mothers, sisters, sons, brothers...If these were his people should he not feel more panic for them than those he left behind in Sauti?

He chewed on his finger nails while his innards played tug of war with one another. Both of the options presented frightened him to the core. Callum considered some of the Alkidike friends, but if they wanted to take his home land...They can't do it. Those extremists have gone too far this time; I'm not letting them take Sauti.

"If it's as you say," Callum cleared his throat and spoke louder. "I say we stand against them. I don't want to fight them if I don't have to, but..." He shook his head, clearly troubled. What was he to say? In a crowd of his peers, was he to say that he wished for his home to stay safe? It would only cause unrest.

Dris'rynne Post 1

"What in the...?" Dris'rynne look about at the various children scattered among the crowd and felt her lone eye roll around in her skull. What kind of parent would bring their impressionable children to this? It was irresponsible! What if it frightened them, or worse?- made them want to fight as well.

Clucking her tongue, she moved forward so that she could hear all that the leaders had to say. What she heard made her lip curl; "This is lunacy. Why make a barricade at all when you can send forces to eradicate the extremists right now? The Alkidikes that have sense enough in their heads should want to help us."

It was enough to make her head hurt. Dris'rynne didn't want to stand by while another scrap of land was fought over, but she also didn't want to bring trouble to her doorstep. She had her sisters to think about.

Nimueh: Post 1
Nimueh was sitting on his grandpa's balcony, hunkered down and peeking down at the assembled people. He could hear, from here, some of the louder conversation - including the announcement from the people who were standing on some sort of platform. Furrowing his eyebrows, Nimueh puzzled over just what they were trying to say... that the Alkidike were doing something. Wanting to take land? He snorted, and peered up at his papa, grinning in quiet amusement. "That's du- um... silly!" Nim cast his eyes at Rilind, then continued. "We just wanna stay with Aisha, right papa?" Oh how wrong he was.

Then again, he'd only ever been told such things by his mama - but if she didn't want to leave Andile long enough to stay with Nim and Papa, then there was no way she'd want to leave for anything else! Right? And yet - people were talking about fighting them? Looking down at the group, Nimueh found his shoulders sinking, feeling queasy in his tummy.

Samoset, Post 1

Sam couldn't hold his gaze on his father, or anything, really. He still wasn't over having to leave Jauhar, as much as he knew it made sense to do so. His father was right in his judgement, things were only getting crazier in the forests, and they didn't need to be there. However, he still couldn't help but feel sad. Was everything he had tried to be just a waste of time? How was he supposed to be a part of something that didn't want him to begin with? His eyes drifted up to the floor, to his brothers, and then to Nimueh.

"Uh... Yes, Nim. ... Eventually." He answered, offering the child a small smile. "But right now, we need to stay here and help everyone else stay safe, okay?"
