Meaning: Dorian, From the hebrew/greek name Doran meaning "a gift". Averic, From the Latin and French meaning, " truthful, honest ruler". Devereux, From an English surname, of Norman French origin, meaning "from Evreux". Evreux is a town in France.

Dragon heartstring

Personality:
Dorian tends to be rather moody, probably from picking it up from his overly dramatic and bipolar mother. One minute he'll be in a good mood and happy and the next he might be crabby and fuming about some small slight. One has to keep on their toes around him because his moods change pretty quickly and you never know what he might be in the mood to do.
His intuitiveness can almost be uncanny; some think it may be from his paternal grandmother as she was something of a seer. While he's not nearly as gifted as she is he can predict or know what people are thinking and how they might react to things. This has caused him to be bullied a bit.
When Dorian makes a friend it's for life. he's extremely loyal and will do anything for his friends. Which means pretty much anything, even if they don't ask for him to do it. If he perceives a threat to them or something that could cause them trouble he'll immediately step in to take care of the problem.
The same can be said for those who become his enemies. He always remembers slights and isn't one to forgive readily.
Dorian is also a bit more world wise than most kids his age, probably from being exposed to much more to adults and adult situations at a young age.
Habits: When startled or mad he can get a twitch in his left eyebrow. He finds it a rather annoying tell to have.
Hobbies: Playing sports with other kids, Writing, Exploring.
Likes: Flying, Quidditch, otters, turtles, marbles, playing marbles, his strange hair, comics, Horatio Alger books, writing to his pen pal.

History
Dorian had a pretty good childhood starting out. He had a father who taught him how to fish, play sports and ride a broom. Since the day he was born his parents had been doing magic around him and teaching him about the magicking world. Probably a good thing, because when life became rougher it was the magic that helped get him through it.
It started with a surprise visit from one of his father's old girlfriends, with an eleven year old in tow, Korina Devereux; his half sister. This was because she had started showing signs of having magic and her mother had no idea what to do with her anymore.
The revelation of her husband having fathered a child before and not telling her{even though he hadn't known himself}, was a bit too much for Dorian's mother to take. She became enraged and began to become unhinged emotionally.
Dorian was rather frightened at the rapid change in his mother's mental health, he himself became despondent and withdrawn for awhile there. When Dorian's father realized this he had to make the difficult choice of placing his wife in a magical hospice that could see to the care of his wife so he could give his son more attention.
With everything going on and the expense it took to pay for where his wife was staying; Sebastien sold his family manor in New Orleans and moved his son and daughter to England so they'd be closer to the magic school and magicking world. It took a rather rough year and a half before everyone settled down and Dorian returned to his normal mental health.
In the past several years, Dorian and Korina have gotten closer to each other, though Dorian still blames her for the mental break his mother suffered. Sebastien has no clue what's going on half the time and tends to suffer by throwing parties and distracting himself with other women. He has no idea the affect this is having on his son, or that Dorian is starting to take on some of his own characteristics.

Dorian stared down at the little ball of blue fluff that was staring up at him unblinkingly with its two tone eyes, one a blueish silver and the other an odd lilac color. Dorian sighed, and leaned down closer until his nose touched the others. "What am I supposed to do with you? I don't know what Kori was thinking getting me a kitten." Dorian mumbled with a moody look on his face.
The kitten started purring and rubbed it's face against his, which rather surprised him. Then Dorian softened slightly and reached down from his bed to pet the small creature. "I suppose you'll be needing something to eat, and somewhere to go." he said more to himself than to the kitten. "And a name of course."
Dorian eyed the kitten closely, thinking to himself. "Bennett?" He asked, the kitten wrinkled it's nose as if in protest, causing Dorian to laugh. The kitten reached up and batted at the strands of hair that had fallen down just out of it's reach. Dorian moved his head around causing the hair to sway back and forth rather riling the kitten into a more frenzied attach on his hair.
With a laugh, Dorian reached down and picked up the kitten gently and moved so he was sitting on his bed. He laid the kitten on the bed and rummaged through his side table drawer for one of his feathers and a piece of yarn. He tied the yarn around the feather and proceeded to play with the kitten until it was laying in an exhausted heap on his bed.
"Remy," he said smiling happily at the kitten. "I think that suits you."
The kitten looked up as though it had been called and mewed in agreement. "I'm glad you like it!" Dorian said with a smile, and laid on his side next to Remy to pet him. Perhaps Kori getting him a kitten was a good thing after all.
