Invisibility Extra Lesson A RP Event Lance Foster, Care of Magical Creatures professor, stood on the lawn just outside the main entrance to the castle. Arms crossed, he waited for the last of the students to show up, wanting to be sure any stragglers made it before he covered the important things. However, there wasn’t an irritated air to his body language despite his crossed arms. It was most likely because of the way he stood, rather relaxed and at ease with a lopsided smile on his face.
When he was certain all of the students that had signed up were present, Professor Foster cleared his throat and clapped his hands loudly to quell the chattering. “Alright, boys and girls, I’ve got an interesting event planned for all of you! But before I tell you about it, how about a little quiz?” He grinned, chuckling among the quiet groans that came from the crowd. “Now, now; there’s no need to whine! It’s easy, you’ll see. So, first question,” he paused, holding up a finger. “Who here knows what a demiguise is? Hmm?” He smiled at the shy students, waiting as a select few of them raised their hands. “Good! This will be a learning experience then!”
He stepped aside and gestured to a stake in the ground, to which a chain was attached. However, the other end of the chain eventually disappeared, floating about level with Professor Foster’s shoulder. “A demiguise, my dear students, is an ape-like creature covered in long fur. However, its fur grants it invisibility.” He grinned, digging around in his pocket. “Their fur is highly sought after because it is woven into invisibility cloaks, an item that many wizards want. The problem, however, is finding a demiguise from which to harvest the fur.” He pulled out a handful of dust from a pouch around his hip and threw it into the air, aiming for the end of the chain. As the particles settled, one could faintly see the general shape of a stooped, primate figure that looked quite shaggy. The beast flinched in response to the gesture, but seemed to remain fairly calm. Professor Foster laughed as some of the students gasped.
“Now, you’re probably wondering what the game I’ve planned for you is, aren’t you?” He clasped his hands with a bright grin, looking around at the crowd that had gathered. “It’s a scavenger hunt! However, you are only looking for one item. Thankfully, there are very many of this item hidden nearby. It is a solo quest; you will not be paired up.” He paused for effect, and then his grin grew. “Now, about the reward. Can any of you think of what it might be?” He waited for a few moments, listening to the students murmur and whisper among themselves. Impatient and excited, Lance decided to just tell them. “It’s an invisibility cloak, of course!” A few gasps and some grins spurred him on, and he laughed. “Yes, the student that collects the most demiguise figurines will be given an invisibility cloak! But you’ll need to enjoy it while you can, because they eventually turn opaque as the demiguise fur ages. But it’s still a valuable prize, yes?” He raised a finger, smirking. “But do not underestimate the challenge; these figurines will not be easy to find. You’ll have to get creative, because I’m not telling you how to find them. I’m also not giving you any supplies!” He laughed again. “However, I will tell you this: The figurines are hidden near and around the gamekeeper’s house and the animal pens. There is no need to go very far away or to search inside the castle or any buildings.” He fell silent, grinning excitedly at the crowd.
“GO!”Written by Cynnybun Rules: - Have fun and obey your teacher! - Don't try plucking hairs off the demiguise, it's a giant herbivorous ape creature but that doesn't mean it can't get angry! - There will be five (2 day) rounds. If you miss a round, you can participate in the next round. You can only attempt to find a figurine ONCE per round so if you miss an figurine, you have to wait for the next round to search for another one. XXXXXX If there is a tie for winner, there will be a sudden death round with the RNG (whoever rolls closest to a random number wins) XXXXXX Each of these rounds, you will roll a 10 sided dice to determine your character's fate regarding the scavenger hunt. XXXXXXXXXXXXEven Numbers make it so your character successfully picks up an invisible figurine. XXXXXXXXXXXXOdd Numbers make it so your character picks up a dud--meaning something that looks like what he or she is searching for but turns out, as soon as he or she touches it, a halloween themed prank of your choosing (please don't make it do your student physical harm). This means that they did not collect a figurine for this round. - This is a RP event so only people with characters can participate. - The winner of the hunt will get a In Character Invisibility cloak that will last for two RP growing period (or eight months) before it loses its potency to be invisible and turns opaque. - If your character is not RP approved, please don't introduce any strange quirks or family background (until approved), however, you are allowed to participate. - How to: Make a rp post up till the point your student discovers what they think is a figurine and then roll the dice. In the next post (the follow up), you will explain whether or not your character found one based on the roll in the previous post.
The next round starts 10/27.

Naomi yawned and shivered in the crisp air, the fog of her breath fanning out from her face as she stood beside other students who had been gathered around excitement seemed to echo around her in voices at the mention of an invisibility cloak. Even she was eager to try and get her hands on the elusive items as well and wiggled in her spot before she was freed by the simple two letter word. Dashing towards the hut she felt like a strange blind person in the way she moved. Her hands and arms outstretched as she walked incase some had been tied to strings and were hanging in mid air.
To her the most logical place to check would be right next to the hut she wasn't that familiar with. Her hands padded down on the ground as she fell to her knees. shifting through the shrubs and grass until they eventually landed on something she could see. Her hands hovered in mid air as she stared at the empty space her fingers curling around the object with facination. She had not seen invisabilty work with her own eyes before and the idea was boggling her mind as she pulled the object up towards her. She wanted to shout to others that she had found one. but what if they had come running towards her in search of the same area. No the smartest thing to do would be to slip the object into her cloak and continue looking

Wicka stared. It was huge. He contemplated poking the creature... just to be sure that it was actually there and his eyes were playing tricks on him... He scrubbed his eyes and looked around to find what others were doing.
Wicka wandered the opposite way... just a bit farther away from the hut then where they had stood to pear at the floating chain. He eyed a particularly appealing rock and went to look behind it. He wasn't sure if it mattered where he looked. He was kinda miserable at games.

Dorian glanced around at the younger students milling around the grounds. He was a bit surprised he was the only third year out there so far. The others were probably still getting out of their warm beds. He couldn't help but smirk about that. He saw that the professor seemed to be waiting until the last few students showed up before he was going to start explaining the game to the rest of them.
Dorian was glad that it was a bit nippy outdoors, it helped him from dozing off while he waited. Why did other kids have to take so long in getting there? Finally as the last few kids came staggering into the field only half awake by their appearance the Professor Foster stood up and prepared to give his speech.
Dorian edged closer to the back of the group, knowing once the man was done speaking there would more than likely be a free for all run towards whatever they were supposed to do. He listened and could feel excitement rush through him at the fact this event was going to be every student for himself. It was definitely a good thing he was the closest to back of the crowd.
"An invisibility cloak?" He exclaimed his eyes growing wide. "Dang, that would come in handy when trying to avoid Quill." He murmured and clenched his fists, waiting for the professor to finish.
When the man yelled, Go, Dorian was off and running towards the animal pens, knowing that most kids wouldn't want to go so near to the animals inside. He had no doubt that the caretaker would move them just for a game. Of course he would have to check every spare inch of the area around the pens what with the item being invisible and all.
Dorian slowly walked around the closest pen nudging the grass with the foot of his shoe. He finally hit something after about two minutes of searching and bent down to pick it up.

Kenny stood with his arms crossed staring at the space where the monkey stood. He shook his head. While he wasn't so keen on the whole aspect of learning about a monkey... he was sure that an invisibility cloak would be very helpful.
He ran his hand through his hair and nodded. HE headed toward the hut. If i was a hidden statue... i would be hidden...Under the stairs...
He bent over at the waist to peek below the stairs.
Wicka smiled he had found one! The statue shifted in his hand,it turned into a spider... Wicka stared down and the spider in his hand. He sighed and shook his hand to remove the spider.

Matty had barely made it out there for the class that morning. The only reason he managed to force himself to get dressed and come out in the cold was because it was for the magical creatures class. He just had to see what creature the professor was going to show them!
He stood around with the other students as they waited for the professor to begin in his uniform with his Batman hoodie on underneath it to help him stay warm. He wasn't excited for the quiz when it got mentioned but he was extremely curious about what was attached to the end of the chain. When the creature was explained, Matty's eyes grew wide. He could barely see the form of the ape, but it was there!
When the rules of the scavenger hunt were explained and the prize mentioned, Matty made himself ready to run. Oh what he wouldn't do for that cloak!
As soon as the word 'go' came from the professor's mouth, Matty took off as fast as he could to the animal pen in hopes of finding one there.

Kenny smirked. "Guess i have a talent of knowing how to be a statue." He grinned carefully scooping up the statue. It exploded and kenny yelped bashing his head on the stairs. "Or not..." He laughed and rubbed his head.... That wasn't it....
Marc frowned. Why did they have to do a scavenger hunt? HE hated looking for things... he would really rather that they just stayed and learned about the demiguise. He waited patiently until he could get close enough to really look. While he could only see the fuzzy outline he was very interested. Marc sighed and smiled at the beast and then turned to head toward the gamekeepers house. He glanced in the window and noticed there was astatue stuck in the window sill

Selina listened with rapt attention as the professor explained about the demiguise and how invisibility cloaks were made. She was one of the few that did know a bit about them but only because she had saw mention in a book she had read and even then the professor was explaining more then what the book had. The thought of getting an invisibility cloak was exciting but only because she wanted to study one and wasn't sure she could bring herself to ask who ever won if she could look at it.
When they were told to go off and look for the figurines she paused for a moment and looked around as the students wondered off. It was only after most had gone that she walked off towards the animal pens. I took a few minutes but after searching she came across something then reached down hesitantly to pick it up.
Her hesitance turned out to be a good thing because the moment it was touched the fake figurine gave a cackle then split to show a pile of green goo that she was fairly certain was jello.

Savannah nodded and set to work in her own search, she didn't look very determined to find the figurine, but everyone else was excited. She thought the benefits might be fun for a while.
But as she picked up what she thought to be one, it turned into a balloon and popped! Startled, Savannah jumped back.

Quillan frowned. Why was he here again? Honestly, this place was filled with younglings! "Everyone's so short," he said out loud with a grin. Oh, wasn't it great to be a third year? Though I suppose it isn't that great to be here learning... He heard something about there being an invisibility cloak involved... It was just a slim chance, but if it were true... The things he could do with one of those babies!
When Professor Lance finished his boring lecture, a smile broke out on Quillan's face. He was right! An invisibility cloak... Niceeeee... He brushed his hand through his hair and listened eagerly for instructions. Perhaps this lesson wasn't a complete waste of time after all!
By the time the instructions were given, he was itching to get a move on. As soon as he got the okay from Professor Lance, Quillan bolted to the one place he knew he'd hide something. The pumpkin patch. When was nearby, he gathered up a fist-full of dirt and sprinkled it around, just like Professor Lance did with the demiguise.
Is that... Quillan couldn't be positive, but it looked like there was a figure... "Right... HERE!" His hand shot out towards what he thought was a figurine.

If it hadn't been so cold, Rory might have actually enjoyed being outside for this class. Instead, he was bundled up, trying not to freeze while waiting for the professor to begin. To try to keep his mind off of the cold, he paid attention to whatever creature was hooked to the end of the chain. He wasn't entirely sure what it was, but the fact that it was invisible intrigued him.
When the professor explained what it was, Rory had to bite back a smirk. Of course! The invisibility cloaks had to be made out of something magical.Oh the trouble those things could probably cause! At the mention of a game involved, Rory paid close attention. At the mention of the prize that would be won, Rory's eyes widened. The things he could do with that cloak! The places he could go! No one would be able to stop him then.
He waited until the professor said 'go' before heading in the direction of the game keeper's house in search of a figurine.

And his hand made contact! Quillan felt weight in his fingers and shook out the figurine a bit. It soon became visible, the little miniature cloak falling completely off the demiguise figurine. It was opaque in color and it looked like a... cross between a willow tree and a monkey. "Man, these things are ugly!" Quillan exclaimed with a laugh, holding the figurine up triumphantly.

The moment Dorian's fingers closed around the opaque monkey creature it started to shake. "Uh oh," He exclaimed and moved back, recalling how during the easter event a kid had encountered an exploding egg. He wasn't quite fast enough and ended up getting a splat of red ink in his face. He groaned and wiped it off shooting an annoyed glance down at the now stone statue.
"Great, now I look like I'm bleeding." he muttered and moved on to keep looking for another one.
