Dorian wrinkled his nose and pushed his hair back out of his face as he struggled to clear a pathway through the dirty hay and owl poop that littered the Hogwart's Owlry. The putrid smell was nearly enough to make him gag, his eyes lifted to glare at the girl across the room who was struggling even more than him at the task at hand. It was all her fault! If she had been watching where she was going and hadn't made him fall into the owl poop a week ago this wouldn't even be happening.
He still couldn't believe that he, Dorian had detention! It was an unthinkable travesty! He never got detention! Never! Well he had gotten close a few times but it had always gotten off with warnings.
He let loose a annoyed growl as he finally managed to move a shovel full of bird droppings into a pile near the wheel barrow. Sighing heavily, he donned some thick gloves slapping his hands angrily against his legs before bending over to grab the offending material and hoisting it into the wheel barrow. He got the wheel barrow filled, shot the red head another contemptuous glare and wheeled it out to where the bird poop and hay were being burned. Once he emptied it he took the wheel burrow back and got back to work muttering a few choice french swearwords under his breath.
He supposed he could have been a better sport about the accident in the owlry a week ago, but for some reason Arona tended to annoy him. Maybe it was because she was nosy and tended to get into other people's business too much. Or maybe because she had been the cause for a very uncomfortable fall out of a tree earlier that year. Whatever it was, she irked him and he had made a point to making her life miserable for the past week.
Though it wasn't as though she hadn't retaliated and gotten back at him, he thought a bit angrily. She had given just as good as she had taken. Much to his annoyance he rather liked that she hadn't just gone running to a teacher and complained about him. She had tried to stand up for herself and not get anyone involved.
It was mostly his fault that a teacher had gotten involved, his last nasty prank had occurred in the main hall and it wasn't very pretty either. It seemed like everyone was talking about it, so it wasn't very long before a teacher had hunted him and Arona down and given them detention cleaning up the owlry where the first occurrence had happened.
Dorian knew that the reason why the teacher had done it was to get them talking to one another and to apologize for the nasty things they had done. Dorian didn't intend to do it at all, he didn't even intend to talk to her. He was planning on just getting things cleaned and getting out of there without saying a word to her. This changed however when Dorian noticed that a roosting owl above Arona was getting ready to let loose a stream of bird crap.
"You'd better move or that owl is going to douse you with bird crap." Dorian said letting loose a long sigh after speaking.

Arona couldn't believe the hell week she had all because of this stupid place and the Slytherin, Dorian Devereux, whom was across the owlry cleaning up the droppings with her. It was so disgustingly gross that she was going to take five showers when this hell job of detention was over.
She was poed at the fact that darn boy had gotten her introble because he wasn't watching where he was going and ran into her. Then he had the gull to go and say it was her fault. Sure it was her falt that he fell out of the that tree onto that Hufflepuff girl Clover Heartwel. Oddly it seemed that the Hartwel and Devereux seemed to have become friends because of that insistent but it was his fault for not watching where he was going.
It must have just been a bad day a week ago, because the two of them landing in the pile of bird poo stated the week off in a set of minnie wars and pranks. The last of witch finally resulted in cleaning the poo of owls. Though whether that particular one was his fault was a little hard to tell. With how full it was in the hall. Though the fact that Snap Dragon Fireworks where going off and the two of them where there it was quickly spread that it was another one of their attacks on the other one.
Wale Devereux took the weal barrow out she kept scrapping the walls and floors. She didn't want to look at him or talk with him since she was being forced to clean with him. If only she could have some music to help past this time it would help drown out his prescience even more. So when he spoke to her it made her scowl a little when she looked at him.
"What did you..." she started before plop right on her head and shoulder "Well that's just grate." she grumbled to herself looking at it.

The look on the Arona's face was priceless! First she had a questioning look with pursed lips and then it had turned to one of instant disgust.
Dorian leaned forward on the shovel and snorted back a laugh. Gods..did she look frazzled by the bird poop that was splattered on her bright red hair and the shoulder of her school robes. His sputtered laughing ceased when he felt a sploosh of something liquid hit his own head and run down the side of his face.
"Well..l guess I deserved that for laughing." he sighed and reached for some straw that wasn't so messy to scrap the owl poop out of his hair. "too bad there's no running water out here or we could wash this crap out of our hair."
"Shoo you dratted owls!" Dorian shouted, trying to wave the owls away. He wasn't going to get any work done if he was constantly looking around for owl droppings. "Shoo!" He yelled, clapping his hands together loudly.

Arona's look lightened when Dorian was also pooped on. "Well yeah I guess we both did after that week..." she said and as she put her shovel fool of poo in the the wheelbarrow.
When Dorian started to try and shoo the owls away. "You know that can make them, do that more." she said shaking her head. "At least now we are already pooed on." she said dryly.
She started to scrape some more poo from the wall and windowsill with the little scrapper shovel sending it down to the floor. Since the where already talking she figured they might as well keep going. "So, how's Heartwel doing?" she asked knowing that the two where friends now. She still felt a little bad about the tree incident.

Dorian made a face, gods..he couldn't imagine owl poop smelling worse but it did! Especially when a lot of it was still in his hair.
"They should have let us use masks and some sort of helmets to keep our heads from getting crapped on." Dorian muttered with a frown.
He shrugged his shoulders at Arona, noticing that she was now in a much better mood. He couldn't help but sigh. Of course..now that he was covered with the bird crap, only in a worse manner she was in a better mood. Figured. Girls were hard to figure out.
"Sure, I suppose." Dorian agreed without any enthusiasm, and dropped his arms and glanced up warily at the clustered owls who hadn't moved despite his best efforts. "Oh really? Well..I guess I should stop then. You'd think they'd give us hazard clothing so we wouldn't get our own so messy in here. Unless that's part of the punishment. " He said dryly.
He went back to work piling crap and straw into the wheel burrow as quickly as he could. The faster he got done the sooner he'd be able to get out of there, or so he reasoned. he could already feel the burn of his shoulder muscles as they worked furiously.
While he had never done this sort of work before or had any experience..it was in some odd way satisfying. He wasn't going to let the teachers know that though so he kept his face scowling and set in a frown as he worked. he figured if they thought he was having fun, they'd only find something harder to make him do the next time he got detention.
"Heartwel? Oh you mean Clover. She's good. We've been working on brainstorming up a new club. And she's been drawing a lot." He replied. Dorian wondered what made Arona think of Clover and why she had brought her up.

Arona wiped her forehead with her arm starting to feel a bit tired. "It would have been nice of them. But they probability use magic to clean this place normally." she said shaking her head. "Though it might be part of the punishment part too."
She looked at him when he mentioned the two of them making a club. "Oh that's nice, and good. Since I ... made you fall on her." she said still feeling kinda bad about what had happened. But at the same time she didn't want to say it.
She glanced at the next floor of the owlre "At least we only have to do this floor and not both of them." she said not wanting to think of having to lug the wheelbarrow up the stairs. She shook her head going back to work on the walls. "Man my arms hurt" she thought to herself.

Dorian was glad to see that he had cleared one small area and moved onto another patch trying to listen and work at the same time. When her words sank into his head finally and his mind worked out what she had said he stopped working and looked up with a perturbed expression. "Well..that's just mean. We could have used magic to clean this up..if we knew any good spells." He muttered and wiped on hand on the back of his jeans.
"Yeah..I suppose. It's not like they want to make it easy for us after all." He added looking around the mess that was still littering the floor around them. They had hardly even made a dent in it.
Dorian looked over at her curiously when she mentioned how he and Clover had met. "I suppose it was a nice thing you did in the long run. We really should thank you for that. I never would have met her otherwise." He said meaning every word.
He felt a bit bad that he and Clover had snubbed Arona for so long, even though she hadn't meant to cause the accident. Not to mention how close they had become since he had his falling out with Quill. Life would be pretty lonely if he didn't have Clover as a friend.
"Yeah, that's a relief." he added shuddering slightly thinking of the mess that was probably up the the winding stairs at the top of the owlery. "How are your arms feeling? Mine feel like horrible."

Arona nodded "Yeah, ... true... Though It's still hard to emagen that there's only one guy working at cleaning the whole school." she said "Wonder if the there are house elves to pick up that slack."
Arona smiled slightly "Well that's good I guess... And don't worry about it. I would have too." she said knowing why they did.
She nodded "Yeah I'm sore... how long has it been?" she asked having lost track of the time as she kept shoveling.

Dorian blinked, and leaned on his shovel. One man to clean the entire castle? He hadn't even thought about who might have had to clean up the mess he had caused in the hall. Perhaps that was why they had sent him and Arona to clean up the owlery. "Wow, I hadn't even thought of that. he must have been furious with the mess I caused in the great hall." Dorian shook his head. "Well..I suppose there are some house elves that clean up some stuff..but probably not this. I wouldn't blame them." He added wrinkling his nose at the offensive smell.
"I think I would have preferred to clean up the Great hall." he added with a laugh. "Gods..I wonder how long it will take to get the smell of bird poop out of my clothes."
Dorian shot Arona a small smile. "Well at least it was a memorable way to meet. No hard feelings. I think I've about forgiven you now. Perhaps though we should call a truce?" He asked.
He frowned and rolled his shoulders slightly. "I'm really not sure. A couple of hours at the most."

Arona looked over at the castle "Yeah, There's so many rooms in there. I guess this is better then a another job we might have gotten stuck with." she said thinking aloud.
She nodded "Heh I hope just once." she said looking at the poop on her shoulder .
Arona looked over at Dorian "Yeah Truce." she agreed turing her neck to the side iwth a loud pop from the creink in her. "We better hurry this up if we want to get a shower before the next meal time." she said going back to work.

Dorian shuddered at the thought of having to clean the castle as detention. that would have taken ages! Months! Thank the stars that they had only been stuck with the owlery.
"That would have taken months." He said with a shudder. "Despite the smell..I think we can get this done if we get moving on it." He said shaking his hair out of his face, not wanting to get any more bird poop on him than was necessary.
"Excellent. I'll have to let Clover know that we called a truce. I wouldn't want her doing something she'd regret." He added, knowing fully well that Clover had a pretty vengeful side of her.
"Good idea." He agreed and got back to work, ignoring the ugly popping sound that came from her neck when she turned it. He HATEd when people popped their necks..it was just super creepy. He always got the sickening thought of their heads popping off and falling on the ground when he heard that noise.
Dorian let loose a laugh at how stupid he had been. He muttered a spell on his shovel and made it grow so it was four times the regular size. "Here..let me make your shovel bigger. The more we can move at a time..the faster we can get this done." He offered Arona.

"Yeah bet it's for the really honorable kids that get more then one day's worth of detention... then again the kid to teacher ratio is... eh a lot." she said not wanting to think about it.
"Yeah... I wonder how that drawing came out, I don't draw myself." she said with a chuckle "But for a Hufflepuff she's got a lot of spunk." she said
She kept scraping up the owl poo with her shovel and into the wheelbarrow. Then when he made his bigger and offered to make hers bigger she shook her head. "The size might make it faster but the wight will also be grater and more difficult to move. My arms are tired as it is. I don't want to add to the wight of the shovel." she said not wanting a bigger one and kept scooping.

Dorian blinked, a bit confused by her words. "Umm..okay. If you say so." He shrugged.
"Drawing? Oh right. It did turn out pretty good. You'll have to ask her to show it to you later. Yes that she does." Dorian said with a chuckle thinking of how she had knocked out an upperclass slytherin a few months back after he had used an exploding ink bomb on her.
Dorian knew she was right, but figured he could take the weight of the bigger shovel more than she could. "Okay then, that's fine." he said with a shrug and went back to shoveling.
It seemed as though the owl poop and mucky straw was ceaseless. But in about an hour or so they had cleared at least half of the crap off of the floor and had moved it to the burn spot outside the owlery. Dorian figured it had taken at least four hours to get that much of it out, and wondered if they would be able to finish it all before the dinner bell. He sighed and started to get back to work. It seemed as though the work was unending.
"I think we are going to be very late for dinner." Dorian said with a sigh as he worked hard on another corner of the mucked up floor.

Arona didn't know if he was confused by it or just didn't care not that it mattered since she didn't ether.
Arona nodded "I might have to do that." she said thinking about it. "Though I can see why the hat put her in Hufflepuff over Gryffindor." she smiled not knowing about the ink bomb insensate.
The time seemed to go by slowly as they worked, maybe because they didn't want to be there but at least there was progress being made. That made it hard to tell what time it was alone.
When he mentioned dinner her stumic growled "I hope we aren't going to be late." she said not wanting to stop now that they had a momentum going.

"You should definitely do it." He told her.
Dorian paused to wipe the sweat off his brow and surveyed what they had accomplished. It was possible to finish what was left..if they really picked up their pace. "Just how much do you want to get a shower and dinner?" he asked turning to look at Arona closely. "If we double time it and get moving as fast as we can, we could probably get this done really quick. Just..we wouldn't have time for much else than work. So there wouldn't be any more time for chit chat." He added.
That being said, without really waiting for her answer, Dorian began to work swiftly. He was tired of this muck and wanted it gone! Shovel after shovel full he filled the wheelbarrow and then moved it out to the burn pile. His shoulders were burning and his back was screaming from not being used to all the work, but Dorian wasn't about to let up.
