Von had taken to doing her homework in front of the couch in the common room and the layout was working well for her. She got the noise she liked and was getting her work done and meeting new minions. Not to mention the occasional entertainment element from her housemates. Today though she was busy staring blankly at her books trying to not throw them across the room. She got this stuff last year, why is this year so much harder, she really needed to find someone to do it for her or at least secretly help her learn it. With a sigh she dropped her head, rather hard, on the table.

Dorian had been keeping a secret for the last week or so and he was dying to find out what had actually been going on.
It had to do with his old friend Quill and one of the other House mates Vonali Darix. He had seen them laying on the couch together, snuggling. At first he couldn't believe his eyes, mostly because Quill was always saying girls had cooties and avoiding them. But when he had gotten closer to check it out he had heard Quill murmuring about his cat marshmallow and his mother.
Dorian had gone for his camera to get a shot of the pair of them but by the time he had gotten back from his room the two of them were awake and from the sound of it flirting. Dorian had listened in awe as Von had gotten Quill as red faced as the griffindor banner. Gods..she was masterful! And hilarious to boot. Dorian had laughed softly from his hiding spot listening to the whole exchange and then melted away before they could catch him.
Now he had a plan. A plan to get back at Quill for being such a douche to him and his friend Clover. And hopefully Von would be game for it. He just had to find her.
He was rather delighted to find Von sitting in the common room working on some homework when he returned from one of his classes and decided to approach her and ask for her help. He could see that she was having a hard time with whatever she was working on and took a seat next to her on the couch.
"Need some help?" He asked bending over to catch her eye from where she had her head rested on the table.

Vonali's head snapped up at the sound of the voice and she was just glad she hadn't clobbered him in the face. " Depends you any good at potions?" She sighed and rubbed at the line the table had left on her forehead. She dare not admit exactly how much trouble she was having until she placed where she recognized this kid from. Oh that's right! He was in the room the day Attor and Quill got into a fight, the one who read Sherlock Holmes, maybe, now what was his name. Dorian! " I was doing alright til yesterday's assignment. I don't know if it's just written odd or if I'm brain dead."

Dorian leaned back as Von pulled her head up from the table and watched her as she rubbed her face. "Potions..I'm passable in that class. I'm better in charms though." He replied truthfully.
He leaned over to examine her notes carefully and then tried to keep from rolling his eyes. She had missed several key ingredients for the potion, he wondered where her mind had been when she had been taking notes. "Hold on, I'll go grab my notes. It looks like you might have missed a few ingredients. Was someone distracting you yesterday?" he asked curiously.
He got up and grabbed his bag from a hook and pulled out his notes, unrolling them to find the right one. "Aha, here you go. Feel free to copy it if you want. I was wondering if you could help me with a problem of my own if you had the time."

Von groaned and dropped her head on the table again making a loud thud sound. " Charms I'm doing pretty well in actually." Her voice was muffled by the table but you could tell she was kind of surprised she was doing so well. Granted she was barely passing most of her classes but that was mostly because she didn't turn in most of the assignments even if she had done them or she was skipping.
She rapped her head again when he told her she'd missed several of the ingredients but for the life of her she couldn't remember what she'd been doing. " I'm often distracted by people and things but I can't remember anything specific yesterday." Though it was possible she'd been working on her new song instead. At the mention of using his notes she lifted her head as he walked out of the room and got a new parchment out and quill.
" Thanks a lot Dorian." She quickly started writing as soon the notes were in her hands. She shook her head at the things she'd missed but pause when he mentioned having a problem. " Oh? What kind of problem? And how can I help?" Now she looked him from the corner of her eye, she should have known that the notes didn't come free rarely anything in Slytherin was free.

Dorian winced as he heard the loud thud from Von's head dropping on the table. "Doesn't that hurt when you do that?" He asked with concern.
Dorian had heard that Von had been having some difficulties with a bunch of her classes and wondered what was going on with her. What was causing her to skip classes and not turn in her assignments? Last year she had been the first one in the door and always prompt with everything that was due.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked gently as he watched her copy his notes. "I mean..you're usually more on top of things. Oh, you're welcome. Uh well..it doesn't matter all that much. I just had someone I wanted to get back at, and you seem to have a way of putting people in their place."

Von smiled at him when he asked if it hurt. " Not as much as trying to figure out that stupid potion." Last year Marc had encouraged her to turn in her stuff and stay in class not to mention he'd helped her with most of her assignments. This year she didn't care and had returned to her earlier routines. She still retained the information but she just couldn't give a darn about turning in the assignments. " Yea I'm fine. Just was a long summer and things have changed this year."
She raised an eyebrow when he mentioned putting people in their place. The only people she'd even come close to that was Attor and Quill and no one had bee around for those. " And who have I put in their place? Details man, can't help if I don't have the details." She finished copying his notes and handed his back to him. But curiosity was destroying her concentration so she put away the quill and turned to face Dorian.

"Ah, I see. It's not that hard. If you'd like I could help you with the class. I don't mind. Or if you need someone to keep you up with the assignments I could do that as well." Dorian found himself offering.
He had no idea why he was being so generous, but he felt as though she needed it. Something about her had changed, and not for the better. he wondered what had happened over the summer. It had to have been something that had deeply disturbed her to cause her not to care about much of anything.
"Well if you say so. You just seem quieter and more..withdrawn than usual." Dorian said quietly, not sure if his insight would disturb or annoy her. He hoped it wouldn't, but one could never tell how a girl might react. Sometimes he cursed his insight; especially when it made people hate him or avoid him.
"Um well, " Dorian gulped and turned away slightly. "truthfully? I saw you and Quill a few weeks ago snuggling on the couch. I went to get my camera and when I came back you two were going at it. I haven't breathed a word of it and won't if you don't want to. Though it would be nice to. Quill's a jerk and was rather mean to a friend of mine. He's the one I want to get back at. I was thinking..if you didn't mind..I'd like to well..make him think you told me about it. And make him squirm a bit. You know, say a few words here and there about things that you were both saying..so he'd think twice about messing with me and my friends."
Dorian had no idea how Von was going to take it, and if she'd be willing to go along with it. Though she had seemed to like getting on Quill's nerves and making him squirm. He took the notes back and rolled them up, holding them as he looked down at that table as though in thought.
"If you need to know what he did before you make up your mind, I can tell you."

Vonali was never one to refuse someone offering to do something for her but she held her reply til after he'd finished telling her about what she could do for him.
His insight was a tad right she was more withdrawn this year, some because she wasn't around the same people as she was the year before and some because of her folks, but she kept her face neutral. After all there was no need to bother anyone with her sob story.
She raised an eyebrow in question when he asked if she wanted the truth and almost launched herself at him when he accused her of snuggling with Quill, but the rest of his story gave her pause. So Mr. Sweet Cheeks wasn't as innocent as he appeared, nor did it seem he lacked the nerve to do something. " So you caught him pawing at me, and heard everything we said? Wow, I must really be off my game. I'm not sure releasing that I told you about it is the smart way to get back at him. Tell me what he did and maybe that'll help me think of something." Oh this could be so much fun. She knew Quill would prove to be great entertainment.

Dorian could tell there was more that Von was holding back that she wasn't ready to talk about. He was fine with that, he'd just be patient and wait until she was ready to. She definitely seemed like she needed a friend, someone to help her out. He'd have to make sure to make himself available so she'd have someone to talk to and confide in if she needed.
He could tell he had hit a nerve in her when he suggested that she and Quill had been snuggling. Perhaps he had been wrong? Quill often did just flop down without looking who was there..perhaps he had ended up on top of her without even knowing it? Dorian held back a laugh at the thought.
"Yes, I caught him pawing at you." He admitted keeping a straight face, knowing fully well with how Quill had reacted to his being a friend with a girl that he would have never been caught dead doing such a thing.
"He insulted my friend Clover, and acted like a jerk when she called him a child. He claimed she was going to infect me..and well..things kind of got out of hand. She tackled him and I didn't really do anything to stop it because i was mad at him. Now he blames everything on me. He's just a spoiled brat sometimes."

Vonali studied the boy in front of her for a moment his kind of lurking could be beneficial when she needed information. She'd have to find out how much he could hear in between classes before she decided for sure.
She raised an eyebrow as Dorian explained the situation, but couldn't believe Quill could actually insult anyone. " You sure it was Mr. Sweet Cheeks?" Dorain had said she was good but could she be good enough not to think Quill had been a challenge. And she vaguely thought if Quill got the better of the girl maybe she was a bit too thin skinned. " I could possibly embarrass the guy once or twice, but anything else and it'll cost ya." After all some fun was okay for free but to actually piss the guy off was going to cost, and more then a bit of tutoring.

Dorian wasn't sure what ideas Von was having or why she was staring so intently at him. There was something odd about her, but he wasn't going to say that to her face. That would have been extremely rude.
"Mr. Sweet Cheeks?" Dorian asked with a smile. "That has a nice ring to it. Well..she took it as an insult. She's constantly drawing, especially when she's experiencing extreme moods..and Quill called her weird. I didn't think it would be something that would make her mad..but apparently it did. I think..though it was more than that. You know how Quill can get under people's skin..he does it rather easily." he explained a bit further with a sigh.
Quill was getting to be an annoyance..but he still wished they were friends. He had no idea why Quill was taking it so hard about Dorian's siding with Clover. Sure..so they had been friends first..but Dorian wasn't going to let that keep him from making new friends.
"That would work well enough. Just enough to get him red faced and steaming." Dorian said with a small laugh. "Which..you seem to be able to do quite easily from what I recall."

Now Von understood, Dorian's friend was an utter pansy. Though to have an excuse to pester Quill sounded fun, granted she'd have done it anyway but this way Dorian thinks she's doing it for him, it would do. " Ok I can do that, Shouldn't be too hard, just have to wait til we're in the Great Hall." That would work get him once in front of the other houses, if he blushed that much when it was just the two of them he should go positively red in the Hall.
" So any kind of time frame you want this to happen in, or just whenever the opportunity presents itself?" It never hurt to discuss such things with a client and potential employee.

Dorian was a bit taken aback at the idea of the whole thing going down in the Great Hall..it kind of reminded him of a something that had occurred the year before and had landed him in a very disgusting detention. He shuddered at the thought of it..not really wanting a repeat of that.
Just thinking about it made the smell of owl poop come back to his senses. He snorted slightly trying to forget the overwhelming smell and thought about it for a moment. Yeah..it would work, it would definitely get Quill's attention. He almost thought that it might be too much and that it might not be such a good idea, but then he reminded himself of all the mishaps Quill had gotten him into that first year.
"Sounds good to me, he'd definitely never be able to live it down then." Dorian commented.
"We don't want to do it when he expects it, so whenever seems best to you." Dorian decided.

Von watched him carefully as he took in her words and noticed the slight shiver. Maybe he didn't have the stomach to handle a big plot anyway, good to know in case she did decide to use him for information she shouldn't tell him her shadier dealings. " If that's what you want, I'll wait until the opportunity presents itself. So don't worry about it any more I've got it." She smiled a bit darkly but it could just be the shadows of the room.
